seven news bay area trick is no treat with one type of candy found in a kid's halloween stash. a cannabis fruit chew found in the mix. the difference between it and the real candy is awfully hard to tell. good evening. thank you for joining us. i'm dan ashley. several elementary school students ended up with this cannabis infused candy at a halloween event in alameda on sunday. one child got sick and other parents found the candy before the kids could open them. abc seven news reporter j.r. stone is in alameda tonight with concerned parents. >> i was shocked. like, what's going on? lee ley, who's daughter is in kindergarten, is reacting to news that some kids at this trunk or treat pta event at amelia earhart elementary school in alameda came home with

more than just candy full of sugar. >> some came home with this cannabis infused fruit candy full of thc. what some might refer to as weed or marijuana candy. >> the student had found in the bag of candy that they brought home an edible with about ten milligrams of thc in it. >> the trick or treating type event was held in this parking lot sunday. the alameda unified school district says one student ate at least part of the cannabis infused candy. >> we do know that the student appears to have ingested the candy. unintended only the family got help. the student is stabilized and is doing well after the school and district put out a warning. >> additional families came forward to say they also found this kiva brand lost farm fruit to the woman who took this picture tells us one of her three kids had this in their

back. parents we spoke with just glad that more kids weren't sickened. >> i have no experience with candies like that, but we do check our candy regardless of things like this happen. >> and i was thinking like, oh, geez, that's really like scary because, you know, this is from the pta events. >> multiple kids came home with those cannabis infused candies and it is important to note that they were all blue. i checked the rest of the candies there. >> i didn't find that blue one, but angel it yesterday it one. i'm pretty sure she ate one, but i'm not sure which you know, if that one is that blue one, i need to double check. like, you know, with her when we get back home. >> the superinten says the district is now working with police to see where the candies came from. they're warning you to check your kids candy on halloween before before they eat it. in alameda, j.r. stone, abc seven news. >> all right. as for the weather

tomorrow for halloween as the kids go trick or treating, meteorologist sandyha patel is tracking that in your accuweather forecast. >> nothing ghoulish about the forecast for tomorrow. we're talking about spooktacular weather. when the sun goes down, you will notice that those temperatures are in the low to upper 60s so pretty mild out there. no tricks, just a treat at 7 p.m. 50s and 60s and at 8 p.m. we're not talking about bone chilling cold, that's for sure. creepy clouds passing through here at 9 p.m. mid-fifties to low 60s. don't get too used to this idea of the mild weather because we have potentially big changes ahead. and i'll be back with that forecast coming right up. >> and the weather department pulling out all the stops with the halloween graphics. all right. more from sandy shortly. we're learning more tonight about the suspect in a really bizarre police chase across the bay area, apparently starting at a famous san francisco church.

court records show the suspect was also set to appear in court tomorrow for domestic violence chges as he's in more trouble now after officers say they chased him across san francisco last night and over the bay bridge before arresting hn martinez. and along the way, the suspect was accused of throwing homemade explosives at police. abc7 news reporter leslie brinkley is on the story. the san francisco police swat team and bomb squad swarmed into this home in concord this afternoon and searched for possible explosive materials in the home where 42 year old suspect daniel garcia lives. >> police say garcia went to mass at saints peter and paul church late sunday afternoon in san francisco's north beach neighborhood after communion, he confronted a parishioner. >> he demanded money from that person. the parishioner continued to pray and ignored him, at which point the suspect then in violently assaulted this parishioner, punching him in the head. and we believe that the

parishioner went unconscious temporarily. >> witnesses say he left the church with a knife in hand and a police pursuit began when he got in his car. police said officers felt their lives were in danger as the suspect intentionally threw two explosive devices at their patrol car. one on filbert street. and again at eighth and mission. the officers described not only seeing the flames of the device that hit the ground, but also the officers could feel the when the bomb detonated, they could feel the blowback from that in their vehicles. ten squad cars and chp joined the chase as the suspect took off over the bay bridge. the pursuit ended in martinez. suspect daniel garcia was put into an ambulance as a bomb seeking robot probed his car and witnesses from the church arrive and he was able to look at the suspect and positively identify that he was the individual who was in the church.

>> the church was swept for bombs or and was found to be safe. >> that's chilling. and i'm just really thankful that not only the officers did not get hurt, but there are innocent people. i mean, it was close to 6:00. there are still people out on the street. >> garcia is jailed in san francisco, facing three counts of attempted murder, two counts of igniting explosive devices with intent to commit murder and more than a dozen other charges. garcia was already due in court tuesday on a different domestic violence charge in contra costa county. i'm leslie brinkly, abc7 news. >> now the archdiocese of san francisco sent us a statement following the sunday church service scare. uh- executive director of the church, peter malo, saying in part, maintaining a safe environment for our parishioners at masses is obviously a priority. our parish ushers are trained in safety and crisis response. thank god no one was seriously injured. end of statement. the archdiocese just completed its

health, safety and crisis response training. as it turns out, earlier this month. all right. let's move to the south bay tonight, where man says his grandparents are still in shock after a home burglary in broad daylight. and we just received the ring doorbell video that captures the moment it happened. san jose police are now investigating, but in the meantime, the grandson is hoping the footage can help police find the people that did it. abc's seven new south bay reporter lauren martinez shows you how it all unfolded. >> a brazen home invasion at an elderly couple's san jose home was caught on camera on friday afternoon. josh benishek said three women opened the gate to his grand parents front yard off story road while two of them asked if they could look at their flowers. a third woman made her way inside. they strike at a very good opportunity where wasn't at the household and my it was just my grandparents alone and my grandparents are very fragile and they have hard

low 70s, especially if they're outdoors. keep in mind it's going to be quite comfortable. and then once the sun sets, those temperatures will come down. but really overall, i mean, close to 70 degrees around the bay and inland and at 612, low 60s coast side, i would say it's going to be comfortable out there. a halloween treat at 7 p.m. 50s and 60s and a few creepy clouds coming our way at 8 p.m. but not bone chilling cold at 9:00. temperatures will be in the mid 50s to the low 60s as we look at live doppler seven, high pressure is pretty much in control of our weather, which will provide us with the mild to warm weather. we did see those high clouds coming through today. they'll continue and those temperatures will remain above average. like today. they were in the low to upper 70s as we look at live doppler seven, just a few passing clouds. look at those temperatures in the 30s to the 50s. so some of those wind sheltered valleys will drop off in the morning. it will be a little bit on the cool side.
