tomorrow despite its troops coming under fire today while trying to secure a safe corridor for civilians. abc news reporter chuck sivertsen has the latest on israel's escalated ground invasion. >> israel's bombardment of gaza continued on saturday. the military striking a un shelter in northern gaza. according to the un's palestine refugee agency, adding the death toll is not immediately clear. that attack part of a series of airstrikes as israel escalated its ground invasion and encircled gaza city. abc's ian pannell embedded with israeli troops at an undisclosed location inside the gaza strip. >> you can hear the sound of gunfire of tank fire. you can see the israeli troops here. you can hear the sound of explosions and thick black smoke rising in the distance. this is one building i can show you. obviously something that was a civilian building. what the israelis say is that hamas have used these kind of buildings using the civilians as essentially shields to launch their attacks. >> meanwhile, hamas continues

its strikes against israel, launching rockets into ashkelon in southern israel saturday night, beienheim idf spokesperson daniel hagar says israel's ground forces reported that they are in control of every battle and have the upper hand. secretary of state antony blinken in jordan saturday, meeting with six regional arab leaders, reaffirming us support for a humanitarian pause in fighting as opposed to a cease fire in order to get hostages out and aid into gaza. it's our view that a cease fire now would simply leave hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it did on october 7th. >> none of us can accept that israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu saying friday israel is going full steam ahead unless the estimated 240 hostages believed to be held by hamas are released. >> while in delaware saturday, president joe biden expressing optimism about a pause in

fighting to get hostages out and aid into gaza. mr. president, any progress on the humanitarian pause? >> yes. >> chuck sivertsen, abc news, new york. >> and new details on a story we brought you a couple of days ago. two grandmothers who were us citizens stuck in gaza are now safely out of the war torn territory. the families of the two women recently filed a lawsuit asking the us government to intervene and bring both grandmothers home. one of the grandmothers, who is 81, says her son is still trying to get out while the search for a santa rosa man accused of stabbing and decapitating his relative is now over. officers say they arrested luis gustavo arroyo. lopez this morning at the transbay terminal in san francisco. an sfpd patrol officer spotted arroyo lopez and took him into custody without incident. and investigators say he killed his relative, then left the scene with the victim's head. and now we want to change gears and toss things over to spencer with a look at weather

uh. >> things are changing here. zach, you know, had all this mild weather the last couple of days. it's beginning to cool down and some rain is on the way. here's a look at the satellite radar composite image. you can see a lot of active weather and rainfall moving into the pacific northwest. hasn't reached the bay area yet, although some of that rain is headed our way as we take a closer look, you can see the trailing edge of that frontal system that's moving into our north, moving in our direction, that's going to bring us some light rain over the next couple of days. right now, we're looking at relatively light, although breezy wind conditions over in fairfield. we've got 21 mile per hour winds right now and it is sharply cooler right now across the entire region than it was at this hour last night. anywhere from four to about ten degrees cooler. so let's take a live view from our sutro tower camera looking out over san francisco, 58 degrees here in the city right now, 59 mountain view, 60 at oakland and palo alto, san jose, 62, 57 at half moon bay. a nice, clear view at the moment from emeryville looking along the bay bridge looking westward. 59 degrees right now at both santa rosa and novato 60 at napa, fairfield, 59, 58 livermore and

62 at concord. and here's how it looks across the embarcadero from our rooftop camera at abc7. and these are our forecast headlines. clouds will increase overnight with a few north bay sprinkles. light spotty sprinkles or showers will develop tomorrow into monday and we fall back to standard time tonight into early tomorrow morning. so don't forget to set your clocks back. the approaching storm system on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale is a level one. it's a storm of light intensity. but for tomorrow into monday, we expect scattered light showers, maybe some periods of some steady rain. but a brief periods of rainfall, slippery roadways will develop. it'll be breezy, rainfall totals will be under a quarter of an inch for most valley locations. overnight we'll see clouds increasing and a few spotty showers early tomorrow morning. moving mainly into the north bay. but by afternoon into the evening, we'll see a southward shift with those showers moving through parts of the south bay. but once again, the rainfall totals will be very light overnight. low temperatures mainly in the low to mid 50s. high temperatures tomorrow, mid 60s at the coast, still pretty mild, but not

nearly so mild as the weather we've had the last few days. we'll see 70, 71 degrees around the bay shoreline and low to mid 70s inland where today we had low to mid 80s. and here is the accuweather seven day forecast. once again we fall back to standard time overnight. so tomorrow evening we lose an hour of daylight. the next two days, tomorrow and monday we have level one storm systems so it won't be stormy. but these systems will bring us some rainfall. so spotty showers, light rainfall tomorrow and monday, tuesday, still a slight chance of some isolat ated showers early in the day. then it gets clearer later in the day on tuesday, wednesday, a sparkling sunny day, a little bit milder, but then it gets breezy, a little cooler on thursday and then unsettled weather develops on friday with a pretty good chance of some rainfall next friday. and it's going to be much cooler by next friday with high temperatures in the daytime only in the low to mid 60s. that's about 20 degrees lower than what we've seen in the last few days. >> okay, spencer, thanks for the heads up. we appreciate it. and thank you for joining us. abc
