that cost more than $7,000. >> one woman now trying to get her money back after a costly mistake from york. >> this is america. this morning. >> good tuesday morning, everyone. thank you for waking up with us. i'm morgan norwood in for rhiannon and i'm lionel moise, in for andrew. >> we begin with breaking news overnight from hawaii where a military surveillance plane ended up in the water. >> authorities say the plane overshot a runway that navy plane was trying to land at marine corps base hawaii located on the northeast side of oahu. the plane was still floating in the shallow waters of a bay overnight. and all nine people aboard made it to shore safely. >> now, this type of navy plane, the p-8 poseidon, is about 130ft long. it's often used to search for submarines and for intelligence gathering. no word yet, though, on what caused that plane to overshoot the runway. >> also breaking overnight, a shooting at a walmart in ohio. multiple, multiple victims are reported. and it's not the first

time the store has been the scene of violence. here's abc's derrick dennis overnight details emerging about a deadly shooting inside this walmart in beaver creek, ohio, a suburb of dayton. >> police responding to reports of an active shooter with customers running and screaming. students at nearby wright state university shaken up. >> we saw one person getting like gurney and getting taken away and then another one not too long after they could have went to a campus and not a walmart. and it could have been us. >> a witness posting a chilling account saying the shooter had a backpack and was holding a rifle and that he walked by her as he opened fire. police confirmed the male suspect injured four people, then turned the gun on himself. walmart saying we're heartbroken by what's happened. we're working closely with investigators on the conditions of the victims right now is unknown as they were all transported to area hospitals for treatment. this walmart has been the scene of gun violence before back in 2014, a 22 year old man holding a gun which was for sale in the store and was

out of the box, was shot and killed by a police officer after someone called 911 report a suspicious man with a rifle in the store. the victim's family settled a wrongful death lawsuit with the city for $1.7 million. as once again, authorities confirm four people were injured in last night's shooting. the suspect has died and a motive remains unclear. and police have promised another update this morning. lionel morgan. all right, derek, thank you. >> now to the holiday getaway. bad weather overnight through tomorrow could really complicate travel plans for millions of americans, especially in the east. abc's liz landers is here with all the details. liz, good morning, lionel. >> the severe weather risk is expanding just as holiday travelers hit the roads in the airports. you can smell this tornado debris. at least five suspected tornadoes were reported in the deep south overnight, one in louisiana, four in mississippi. a possible twister causing this damage to

homes and vehicles near jackson, mississippi. >> you guys come over here, you can see that they do have a blue tarp on top of the truck. and that is because a tree fell on top of it. >> weather could cause delays at five major airport hubs ahead of thanksgiving. the culprit is this storm system stretching from the gulf coast up to the great lakes this morning. heavy rain moves from alabama to georgia. airports in atlanta and charlotte could see delays. the severe weather arrives in the new york city area by tonight. northern areas could see snow and then it moves out hopefully by wednesday night, but not be dropping. >> even some snow. a coating of snow across parts of new england as the polar air pours in. it's going to be a very cold and blustery thanksgiving day for millions of americans across the northern tier. >> the weather and the crowds aren't the only thing different about thanksgiving travel this year. more people are flying early thanks to remote working and so far, fliers are seeing fewer cancellations this year, seeing the lowest cancellation

rate in five years to ease congestion, the faa has opened 169 new flight routes along the east coast, making some flights shorter and is open. military airspace off the east coast and gulf coast for commercial use. meanwhile, down on the roads, gas prices falling. they've dropped $0.06 in the last week and are nearly $0.40 lower than last year as the suspected tornadoes overnight apparently caused only minimal damage. no serious injuries were reported. morgan okay, liz, thank you. >> the us is taking a new step to fight illegal immigration overseas. us officials are now planning to travel to panama to help with the screening and deporting of migrants as they begin moving through central america. us immigration officers will be deployed in a remote area called the darién gap and it's near the border with colombia. and for many migrants, it marks the start of the treacherous trip to the us. >> now to the middle east and another hospital reportedly under fire this morning. a

second hospital in gaza has become a battleground in israel's war against hamas, with claims that an israeli shell hit the second floor, killing at least 12 people. israel denies that report, but some good news overnight. a senior hamas leader says a deal to release more hostages seized by the terror group last month is close, although us officials warn the deal calling for more than 50 hostages to be freed in exchange for a five day ceasefire could collapse at any point. we believe we're closer than we've ever been. >> so we're hopeful. but there's still work to be done and nothing is done until it's all done in israel. >> frustration boiling over with some families of the hostages claiming their government is more interested in killing palestinians than saving jews. more than a thousand miles away, rebels in yemen backed by iran releasing video showing the hijacking of a commercial cargo ship in the red sea. the ship

linked to israel. but operated by a japanese company. the crew captured back in the war zone. an update on these premature babies removed from their incubators at a gaza hospital last week. 28 of the tiny infants are now safely out of gaza in the care of egyptian medics with incubators waiting for them. some have been reunited with their mothers for the first time since birth. an israeli defense official says thousands of hamas fighters have been killed in the fighting. israeli troops will move on into southern gaza, but are promising more targeted operations there. police in colorado were searching overnight for suspect in a triple homicide. >> they say on may, clark escaped after an hours long standoff at a home about 50 miles south of colorado springs. two men and a woman were found dead. they had been shot. police say this incident apparently started as a property dispute, but it's unclear how he knows the victims. clark, though, believed to be driving a white dodge truck. >> the cdc issued a food safety

alert for peaches, nectarines and plums, all due to a listeria outbreak. the agency says one person has died, ten others have been hospital ized. the fruits were distributed by hmc farms. they were sold until last week. cases have been reported in these seven states, stretching from california to florida. >> well, president biden joked about his age as he celebrated his 81st birthday last night with a blazing birthday cake. take a look. he wrote on instagram. turns out on your 146th birthday, you run out of space for candles. biden also posted on threads for the first time, writing, i turned 81 and all i got was a new social media platform. >> all right, happy birthday, president biden. time now for your tuesday weather. morning. >> traveling today for the thanksgiving holiday, will west of the mississippi green means good weather for traveling, but the same can't be said from the great lakes to the gulf coast, rain and wind and some thunderstorms. atlanta there

>> it all started friday when the board of open ai, the leading artificial intelligence company behind chatgpt fired ceo sam altman, claiming he was not consistently candid in his communication with the board. >> bloomberg reports the dispute may have stemmed from altman's push to commercialize ai more rapidly, despite concern that the unregulated technology could displace jobs across the economy and pose major security risks. in response to his firing, microsoft, a top investor in the company, quickly hired altman and another top executive of we want sam and greg to have a fantastic home. >> if they're not going to be in openai and all the colleagues. >> and then within hours, the threat of a mass exodus, a whopping 725 of openai 770 employees signed a letter threatening to join altman at microsoft unless the board resigns. and altman is reinstated as ceo when a company's reputation is really
