united control tower and here at newark, all of the folks are working on 4100 flights today alone in theouted system. that's about -- the united system and that's about three flights every minute and think about this, every single flight today is just about sold out. this morning a mad dash paperwork for families record number of travelers flying home for thanksgiving. snow and wind threatening to disrupt the skies. many passengers getting to the airport early bracing for the weather. >> i caught an earlier flight to make sure i didn't get caught in the bad stuff. >> cleveland to dallas all packed with people hoping to neighboring it home for the holiday. the tsa says today will be one of the bustiest, expecting to screen more than 2.7 million people across the contrivement and the faa says more than 50,000 flights will take off. to keeps flight moving and lessen delays, the military is opening up restricted air space from the east coast to the gulf

expected to go at least 50 miles to see their family over thanksgiving and that will certainly jam those roadways and in phaco, in some areas travel times about 80% above normal in the metro areas and here in california, congested roadways in the nation here in los angeles and san francisco as well and huge thanks to power house station kabc and live look over the roadways and see things are already busy but still they say if you can get on the road before 11:00 a.m. or wait till after 6:00 p.m., you'll beat the worst of it. there's good tuesday and gas prices about 30-cents lower than they were this time last year. here in california, she dropped an additional few cents overnight for that trip to have. >> thank you very much. a deal to free some of the

hostages by hamas with a brief ceasefire. matt gutman is on the scene with more. >> robin, good morning. we're at a base outside of the gaza strip and you may be able to see the smoke over the tanks and israel continues to hit position and israel fears the ceasefire is getting at least 40, possibly more hostages back as early as tomorrow. and this morning 50 hostages are set to be released from gaza and hamas agreeing on the deal officially approved by the israeli government overnight and around 30 children and some women in exchange israel agreed to release 150 palestinian prisoners, women and teenagers. exchange to happen over the course of a now day pause in the hostilities and the first in over six weeks. hamas says the ceasefire will allow hundreds of trucks and humanitarian relief and medical aid and fuel to enter most parts

moran has more. >> good morning, michael. attacks by the iranian forced, iranen-backed forces in the middle east have not let up. 66 times now since the israel hamas war began, american troops have come under fire in iraq and syria. so overnight for the fourth time now, the u.s. hit back, the pentagon saying two facilities used by militants were targeted and it was the second time in 24 hours that u.s. forces had struck these iranian proxies after the group escalated its attacks and firing two close range ballistic missiles at the air base in western iraq and attack that injured as many as eight american service members. a1c30 gun ship was in the air above the base and spotted the attack and they quickly returned fire. all told roughly 70 u.s. personnel have been injured since these attacks began. it's a conflict that is slowly but surely heating up as iran tries to take advantage of hamas

nub details following the arrest for a murder for hire plot involving florida law professor dan markle nearly a decade ago. a judge on tuesday ordering markle's former mother-in-law held without bond. >> do you understand these positions? >> i do, your honor. >> markle was gunned down in his garage in tallahassee in 2014 after a bitter divorce from his ex-wife who wanted to move with their two sons to be closer to their family in south florida. now her mother is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation. prosecutors saying donna helped arrange a murder plot and 73-year-old was arrested at miami international airport agents arrested last week and she and her husband attempted to board a one way flight to vietnam. the court unseal ago search warrant for her iphone seized that day revealing the state is looking for any applications or evidence of moving money,

salt. that seems like a fair amount. >> lara: it's just salt and water. >> michael: cold water? >> guest: keep it cold, you see and spice recipes but save those for seasoning later, they don't absorb. this is as simple as placing the turkey inside, this is a 12-14 pound bird gempt in -- bird. get in there. like that. >> michael: as you do this, i notice a lot of people are saying "i have been doing it wrong all of these years". >> guest: it doesn't have to be complicated. it sits 6-12 hours. one of the nice pros of this, is, it's pretty fast. you have plenty of time to brine. yes. >> lara: and for flavor, is there another reason to do it? >> guest: the biggest benefit is getting the moist our inside, the salt takes the water in and holds on to the moist our,s big pro. but the con, it's harder to

get the browning here after brining. >> lara: and salting? >> you don't need the water, that's great, the skin will stay nice and dry, browns and crisping beautifully, but you have to remember, to get the salt directly on the skin, use the back of a wooden spoon or hands, wiggle your way under there, loosening the skin, and once you do, you just take the salt, rub it right in. okay? >> lara: i will let you do that. do you guys have a favorite way? to brine or to salt? >> depends on the amount of time, if i salt, 24-48 hours. but it doesn't take up as much space in the frige, this is a lot smaller than that. >> and if you want the best possible skin and juiciness. >> once the turkey's ready to cook, the question is, "to stuff or not to stuff"? >> this is an important one, stuffing a turkey is old-fashioned and seems great, the beauty is, you get a lot

of flavors from the juices dripping into it. but two big problems. one is that you can't get that much inside of the bird, so you can't feed everyone, in order to get the stuffing safe to eat you have to cook to 165 degrees. to do that you will overcook the turkey to get there, it ruins the bird, but erica has a better option. >> spatchcocking. it's great. spatchcocking means removing the backbone and others lays it out flat. a flatter turkey means it will cook in 2.5 hours "flat", you would have the turkey and the stuffing done, and the turkey drippings are gonna flavor the stuffing, you make the stuffing with water and a few eggs here, and you put those together quick. >> lara: is it hard to get the turkey spatchcocked, is that hard to do yourself? >> you can ask a butcher to help you, they are the experts, but it's easy. you need a good pair of

kitchen sheers, cut out the backbone and, press it down, it's suppress-relieving. -- stress relieving. >> lara: you used crew tons and you sought-- saute'd, typical ingredients, onion and celery, sage and time in there, as well. >> guest: i am adding that all in like that. so, >> lara: so the turkey cooks and how do you do the stuffing with it. >> so the stuffing goes on the bottom of the roasting pan, you place it all, it's wonderful, it cooks together in one pan, and best of all people can do this today, they can do the salting method that -- lan, showed. pop it in the frige, and then do the stuffing and put the turkey on top. flavorful and safe to eat.
