wins the dry atmosphere. and as a result, we have a frost advisory for our north bay interior valleys for another hour and a half or so. as we look outside right now, the stock is pretty crowded. yeah, with some of the sea lions that dock not so crowded, but it's a kind of a nice day in the city here with temperatures in the upper 40s. certainly cool, but not as cold as it could be. i think the next couple of mornings getting even chillier all around the bay. it's 47 in oakland, 50 in mountain view, as well as palo alto and 50 for half moon bay. gorgeous view emeryville where temperatures
8:44 am
were in the 50s this morning. so a little bit milder for you and also into the livermore valley, i should say concord. livermore was pretty chilly still at 43. look at the 30s though. still santa rosa novato. you can take this all throughout marin county down in mill valley, napa has recovered to 41. so some cold mornings in the oakland airport. a view of mount tam there. so the frost advisory until 10:00 north bay valleys looking at the sunny days cold mornings for the next couple of days i think we'll get even colder as we get into monday morning. and then a slight chance of rain perhaps as early as tuesday day. a lot of water moving at the coast inside the bay. that's why we have a beach hazard statement until tomorrow morning. 9 to 12 foot swells right now or waves, i should say. the west and northwest facing beaches in particular from sonoma down to big sur. so pretty dangerous conditions there. here's a look at the overnight lows as you get into your sunday morning. just as cold tomorrow morning, even
8:45 am
colder in our east bay. then by monday, it looks like this could be the coldest morning. look at that, 40 in oakland and san jose could see some upper 30s tuesday may not a whole lot of change. we are looking at the storm track that will be begin to get a little bit closer tuesday wednesday. that's that first weak system that skirts to the south of us. then we have another system coming in from the north that could bring mountain snow maybe into thursday. but we are looking at amounts all over the place right now. we do know, though, that temperatures are going to be quite cool as we get to the second half of the upcoming workweek. this is wednesday, barely at 60 degrees. and look how fast the winds begin to move into thursday. and this could be our second storm system bringing the cooler, windier and wet conditions. then by friday, still pretty chilly with below average temperatures. highs today anywhere from the low to mid 60s. so kind of pleasant from two, 3:00 in the afternoon. but you know how quickly that sun sets the accuweather seven

day forecast chilly mornings for tomorrow morning sunday morning, monday morning and then by tuesday increasing clouds looking at rain chances increasing for the second half of the workweek gloria. >> all right. thank you so much, lisa. and of course, we've been talking about it all morning long. it is small business saturday, a push to help local businesses during the holiday shopping season. and right now, we are going to tell you a little bit more about small business. saturday last year, americans spent nearly $18 billion on small businesses on the last saturday of november. and this trend is growing popularity, especially with millennials right now. we have joining us live, john kabateck of nfib, or the national federation of independent business, an association of small businesses in the us. john, thank you so much for joining us today. >> hey, thank you for having me. and gloria. happy small business saturday. i think it's my favorite holiday of the year.
8:47 am
>> yeah. happy small business saturday to you, too. well, first of all, for people who may not be familiar with your organization, tell us a little bit about it. >> yeah, so the national federation of independent business, actually, we are the nation's and the state's largest small business advocacy group. actually, gloria, we were founded just in the bay area, 80 years ago this year. and our focus and our goal is quite simple. it's to support and really support small business owners ability to grow, to own and operate their small businesses and small businesses. saturday we were so pleased to be an early supporter and early partner in small business. saturday back in 2010 when it launched. >> yeah, and you know, with inflation, higher costs of living. what are you predicting this year for small business? saturday >> i'm really predicting that this will be our best small business saturday ever. what we have seen so much, especially through these covid years and coming out of it is community gathering around our small businesses, our brick and mortar
8:48 am
businesses, small business saturday was launched, you know, to be a compliment to black friday and cyber monday, but to really help people focus on the importance of that corner retail store, that toy store, that hardware store, that little restaurant, and show that support. because what we found in covid was that when small businesses suffer, our communities suffer. but when we thrive, we are strong. and i'm seeing communities gather more than ever. so we're excited and i think we're going to go through the roof on this one this year. >> even despite the economic times that people are facing, you still think a lot of people will come out and support those small businesses, right? >> i think especially, you know, small businesses really are the number one job creator. you know , i think 99.8% of all small businesses in california, you know, 99.8% of all businesses are small businesses. they employ 7 million people here in our state alone. and i think one of the most important things that people can do is get out, because what you're doing is you're helping those small businesses create jobs, which has been a challenge. 43% of
8:49 am
nfib members that we polled said they're still having a hard time filling those jobs openings. so you're helping those small businesses create jobs, get back on track number two, you're actually helping put that money back in your community. first response, schools, hospitals, roads. that tax dollar goes right back to your community. and three, you're just getting some awesome products and services made from the hearts of your neighbors right there. you know, whether it's a toy, whether it's a clothing, those things are from the hearts and the hands of people in your next door to you or around the corner. so we just think it's a great way to help and support and get california back on track and the nation. >> yeah. and john, you know, you touched on this, but we know many businesses are still struggling after covid and with inflation. so how does this really help small businesses? >> us yeah. so what it really does is it helps give small think what we hope is that small business saturday is something that reminds people year round the importance of small businesses, the importance of those mom and pop stores and
8:50 am
companies of what they do. so it is a symbolic day today and people should get out. and i'll tell you, gloria, i've got my wallet, i've got my shopping list. i'm ready right after this to get out there. but i think what it should do is remind people that, yes, inflation is still on the minds of small business owners and affecting them. job openings and just people trying to get back on track. and what small business owners really need right now is that support. so this is a holiday. i think, to help remind people to jump start main street, not just today, but into the holidays and year round and couldn't think of a better way to do it. an and we encourage everybody to just get out there and support your local stores. >> yeah good reminder go out there support a local business today on small business saturday. john thank you so much for joining us today. we know you want to get some shopping done, so we'll let you go and stay getting ready to get out there. yeah, love it. well, stay with
