couple times tonight, they continue to bounce back. they made a couple of big mistakes that led to points for georgia tech, and yet, when they have to have a play, with the game on the line, they always seem to find a way >> sean: assuming this goes in the win column, as it almost certainly will, how do you size up georgia and alabama in the s.e.c. championship game? that's probably a winner gets into the college football playoff. >> greg: i think most people would think it would be a scenario where the winner would get in, but man, texas is the road block, so, i think it's very dependent on what happens with the long horns and i think georgiawins, they take care of business. >> sean: yeah, and alabama's out. but were alabama to win, that could make for some interesting scenarios, including one where maybe georgia doesn't get in. >> greg: right. that would be wild, too, considering a team will have won 29 of the last 30, would be left out, but it's only about this year, and just so happening the

field, competing for those four playoff spots, are about as deep as it's been in quite some time. >> sean: they're going to go into the victory formation. georgia tech can stop it once if it wants to. and it wants to. brent key and barring the kind of mistake that miami made against georgia tech, it's going to be a win for kirby smart and another perfect regular season, 12-0, in the regular season for the third season in a row. >> sean: that's crazy. and this team, we've mentioned resilient, and that's what kirby smart is discussing. this team is resilient, they are

excellent. they've dealt with a lot of injuries, i mean, guys in and out of the lineup. lack of continuity. some guys banged up in fall camp, only now starting to play their best football. but man, here at the time of the year you want to be playing your best, they're certainly rounding into form. >> sean: the first s.e.c. school to go 8-0 in conference play in three straight seasons. and if they were to beat alabama next week, they'd join florida 1995 and '96, the only second schools to go 8-0 and win the s.e.c. championship game in consecutive years. >> greg: remarkable what they've built. and some of the young players already contributing on both sides of the ball, it would be tough to envision them dropping off any time soon. >> sean: so that's it. valiant effort by the yellow jackets, coming up short. and georgia has won 29 straight

gam games. now all alone with the longest winning streak in southeastern conference history. they've won 15 straight road games, extending the longest active streak in the country, and the second-longest in conference history. they've won 39 straight regular season games, a lot more of those numbers we could pass along, but molly is with kirby. >> molly: coach, kendall milton, just the latest guy to step up, what does that say about this group? >> well, kendall stepped up all year. he played really hard, he's one of our best leaders. thought he did a great job today with yards after contact. >> molly: first team in s.e.c. history to win 29 straight games. what did it take to get here? >> well, a lot of guys did that before this group, this group's carried that on. the high standard of excellence. they practice hard, they play physical. a lot of credit to georgia tech today, they did a great job, but our team played hard and physical. great environment to play college football. >> molly: next week, you are

8:05 pm
everything they got, so, it was our job to match the intensity. >> molly: they did give you everything they had. and you guys weren't overlooking them. s.e.c. championship game is next week. how seriously did you guys take this game, what did you learn about your team ahead of that one looming? >> we took this game serious. you would have thought this was a championship game, just because, like, the magnitude of this game just shows in itself, from even when coach kirby smart coach bobo, they were playing ball, this rivalry was huge. they made sure we knee how deep it really is. i'm from california, so, i never grew up watching georgia, watching, you know, really south football, but i could feel the energy, i could feel how much this game meant, so, we took that personal as a team. we took that really to heart, and all week, we made a challenge, the offense and the defense, to go out there and have real come petition. >> it showed on the field. congrats on the win. >> thank you so much. >> molly: sean? >> sean: well, no brock bowers, no ladd mcconkey, didn't matter.
8:06 pm
they leaned heavily on the run, especially million on the, a career high 156. against a georgia tech team that's struggled to stop the run all season long. so, it's onto the championship game in the s.e.c., georgia now just three wins away from three straight national championships. don't think anybody would bet against that, the way they're playing right now. final score, georgia, 31, georgia tech, 23. for greg and molly, good night from atlanta.
