some travelers told us this was the hardest part on what's supposed to be the busiest air travel day for the thanksgiving holiday. good evening, and thanks for joining us. i'm dionne lynn. the tsa says today could break records as it's busiest day ever either before or since the pandemic. the tuesday and wednesday before thanksgiving matched the tsa expectations with 2.6 and 2.7 million passengers each day. today's expectation, 2.9 million would be an all time record. now, taking a live look at the three major bay area airports,

including with the abc seven oakland airport camera at oakland and san jose mineta international airports. not a single flight canceled today at sfo. just two flights were canceled. that is according to flightaware. now abc seven news reporter j.r stone went to sfo today where it was busy but not in comparison to pre-pandemic numbers. >> on a night when you'd think this type of post-thanksgiving traffic into san francisco international airport might bring out the true holiday grinches. that was hardly the case. >> an amazing time. we had a good time reuniting with everybody. no drama, everything good? >> no drama. >> thumbs up all around. thumbs up? yeah. >> everything good? you can ask for has happened. >> even airport manager chris morgan says that sfo hasn't dealt with any major issues and only a limited amount of delays on a sunday. that was predicted to be the busiest air travel day of the year and possibly busiest

ever. morgan though, says that passenger numbers here are still well below where they were at 85% of pre covid travel. >> we just did not have the backup that we were expecting or that i would say that a passengers were expecting, because typically passengers come here and they're expecting this this madhouse or this zoo like environment. but it was not that smooth sailing inside of sfo. >> but you can see a bit of a different story outside of sfo. back backups just getting to the airport, but there's a lot of traffic coming to the airport and everything. but those we spoke with kept their focus on how special it was to see family. >> it was really nice, nice, really happy to see my family again. i don't see them often since i'm in school. >> we hated leaving our family so yeah, yeah. >> if i didn't have to leave, i wouldn't. i wouldn't be leaving today. but you know, actually, it's been really, really tame. i mean, i flew out on wednesday and it wasn't that bad.

>> and just looking at terminal three, you can see the crowds are not shoulder to shoulder. the type of news that every traveler wants to hear. de j.r. stone, abc. seven news. >> well, happening tonight as we take a live look at the golden gate bridge, where it is wide open. it is the end of chp maxima enforcement period for thanksgiving. the annual safety effort increases patrols on the state's highways and roads to search for unsafe drivers. it's been running since 6 p.m. on wednesday and ends at midnight tonight. well, new at 11 now. a two alarm fire burned a house near the sap center. a san jose traffic camera caught the smoke. you see it billowing in the air at about 745. multi cal fire crews were on the scene on cleaves avenue near the alameda. small explosions were reportedly heard, possibly from propane tanks as new developments at the five year old girl who was swept into the pacific ocean at

martin's beach yesterday has died. that's according to the coast guard. the girl was with a man at the beach when a wave swept them into the water. firefighters were able to pull her out. she was airlifted to stanford medical where she was later pronounced deceased. the man is still missing, but the search for him has been suspended. the coast guard spent 22 hours and searched 100mi■!s hoping to find him. now for your reference, martin's beach is located south of half moon bay, a beach hazard warning is in effect this weekend, warning visitors of those dangerous sneaker waves as a four year old girl is the first american hostage to be freed by hamas. she's one of 58 hostages who have been released over the past three days. hamas says it is now seeking to extend the cease fire, which israel has said it is willing to do if more hostages are released. here's abc news reporter alison kosik with the latest on sunday, 17 more hostage were released by

micro, california sees 24% of all black friday scams nationwide. abc's seven news reporter stephanie sierra spoke to the company's vice president of threat intelligence. >> ince your company also has a warning about free shipping on some black friday sites. what can you tell us about that? >> yeah, shipping scams are big, so a lot of times they'll either offer free shipping or what more likely will happen is you'll get a text message from one of the carrier saying your your item needs to be is in the warehouse, but it needs a checking. so they ask you to log in and give your email address and some other personal information and that's how they get your data. and then they can use use that to do, you know, any types of scams against you. >> your company has also listed a number of examples of sites selling merchandise and even liquor. one of them, hard daddy is unaccredited with the better business bureau and currently has an f rating. what do you know about this site? >> yeah, this is what most

consumers are going to have to deal with. stephanie hard daddy is one that looks very real. the pictures that they pose are all actual pictures from other sites that are selling the actual product. and so when you pick a pick a product, you go through the same all the same processes. you go through the checkout, they try to take all of your information. the last for your name, phone number, your address, credit card information, and then they just scam you. sometimes you might get a product that's a knockoff of what you thought you were buying or it could they just don't even ship anything or they ship something that's not even related to what you bought. and if you try to contact them, there's nowhere to get any information about how to contact them. so it's really a big scam site. and this is the type of sites we see all over the web now. yeah so frustrating. >> and it can certainly be hard to tell. and it's not just those merchandise sites, but with travel tuesday coming up, consumers often rely on companies like booking.com or airbnb to schedule travel and

hotel accommodations. what advice do you have for those who are planning ahead? >> yeah, i think first and foremost, go to those sites directly. don't use click a link on an email or a or a text message that you receive in many cases, these these text messages or emails are going to take you to a fraudulent site that looks exactly like airbnb or booking.com. and again, what they're trying to do is take take information from you, have you enter information. sometimes it's to get if you have an account with those companies, they want to get your account so that they can take over your account and do things with that as well. >> we understand your company's data shows california gets the most icloud phishing scams. what are some examples of that and why do you think that is? >> and the scammers want that data. they want to steal that data. so what they end up doing is, again, they they they will send you a text message that says, hey, your icloud is full to add more, you know, click here. and again, it takes you to a login page. so it's trying to

get your login credentials for your icloud account and then they can use that or they can get into it and steal a lot of the data that you've been putting into those icloud accounts. >> that was stephanie sierra reporting. now, another tip is to bookmark all the sites you tend to shop and go to those websites directly. right to the weather. now, we are expecting stormy weather this week. let's get to abc7 news weather anchor spencer christian once again. >> okay. we'll start with the satellite radar composite image showing an area of high pressure that has been the controlling factor in our weather for the last several days. it brought us mainly sunny daytime weather and mainly clear skies at night. it's weakening and moving away now it will be followed by very active and unsettled weather out at sea that's been building with lots of clouds and moisture and some showers. we probably will have some wet days this coming week. the winds are pretty calm right now across the entire bay area. so when you have calm wind and mainly clear skies, temperatures drop rapidly during the nighttime hours and that's going to be the pattern again

tonight as it has been the last couple of nights. so let's take a look at our forecast headlines. frost and freezing inland again overnight, mostly sunny skies. tomorrow. it'll be seasonably cool in the afternoon with chances of rain developing late tuesday and possibly continuing through the week and into the weekend. a frost advisory is in effect for the north bay valleys and will remain in effect until 9:00 tomorrow morning. this has been our coldest region for several nights now. tonight and early tomorrow morning, we expect temperatures as low as 33 degrees. frost will form and could kill sensitive vegetation. and over in the fairfield sassoon area, easy to say in the fairfield sassoon area, there's a freeze warning in effect where temperatures will drop below freezing, maybe even into the upper 20s lows tonight. 31 degrees at santa rosa, 47, asheville, 35 at napa. over at fairfield. we expect a low of 31 in the inland east bay. look for mainly mid 30s from concord down to livermore in the south bay. still chilly, but not quite so cold. about 40 degrees will be

the low at morgan hill, 41 at san jose. now a coastal flood advisory will be in effect tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for of the bay shoreline and the north bay shoreline because of high tides, there's a chance of some localized flooding. won't be very widespread. should be minor as well. but just bear in mind that that there is that possibility, especially in in low lying areas, high temperatures tomorrow under bright, sunny skies with a few high clouds, 65 degrees in half. moon bay in san francisco, in fact, mainly mid 60s right around the bay shoreline. and on the coast, but only low 60s inland. here's our forecast animation for the week ahead. notice by tuesday night, wednesday, we'll have our first wave of rain moving through. then a little bit of a break. another wave of rain comes in on thursday. that may continue into friday and maybe followed by some more light showers going into saturday morning. so it's going to be a week of active weather for sure with rainfall estimates right now by as we look at them now by 11 p.m. saturday, we're looking at

oh no, this is not california. >> it is the biggest snowfall since march to hit wisconsin. more than two inches of snow fell just this weekend. and temperatures in madison could drop to single digits tonight. that'll be the coldest temperatures since march. now the cold and snow apparently was not enough to stop a barbecue cookout for one determined woman. they are hardy in that neck of the woods. well, wintry weather in some parts of the country. complicated holiday travel plans. millions of travelers headed home as the holiday weekend comes to an end. here's abc news reporter and wynn with details from

washington. >> millions of americans returning home from their thanksgiving destinations are dealing with travel headaches from bumper to bumper traffic to crowded airports. >> we usually go to the counter, you know, check in our bags real quick. but then my husband was like, let's just check them in outside. and we walked in and there's so many people over there. >> airlines for america, a trade association and lobbying group representing the major us airlines, expects an all time high of nearly 30 million passengers in the skies over this holiday stretch. that's a 9% increase from last year. the tsa says passengers should get to the airport early and pack their patience. >> we did get here five hours early and we can't check our bags yet. >> the tsa adds new high tech x-ray equipment at some airports could make the screening process go a little smoother. despite the large crowds, electronic and 3-1-1, liquids, gels and aerosols are not required to be removed from your bag. >> so it really makes it convenient for when you're going through the actual screening process. >> those driving home can expect

in georgia. it will begin with a motorcade with members of mrs. carter's family departing from her hometown of plains, georgia. the motorcade will then stop at the rosalind carter institute for caregivers at georgia southwestern state university and finally travel to the jimmy carter presidential library and museum in atlanta for a private ceremony. mrs. carter's body will lie in repose for public viewing at the library for the remainder of the evening. also happening tomorrow, a big meeting for elon musk. israeli president isaac herzog will meet with musk, who is visiting israel. in a statement, herzog office says the president will ask musk to address rising anti-semitism online. the conversation will be private. musk is facing criticism himself after he endorsed an anti-semitic conspiracy theory popular among white supremacists that resulted in major advertisers pulling their ads off x, formerly known as twitter, where the theory went viral while a man was arrested

today suspected of shooting three palestinian college students last night in burlington, vermont. investigators say two of the students were wearing traditional middle eastern scarves. police say the suspect fired four shots without saying a word. the incident happened near the university of vermont campus. all of the victims remain in the hospital tonight. one of the students suffered serious injuries. >> the suspect walked up to them and shot them. they weren't robbed. they weren't mugged. it was a targeted or a targeted shooting and a targeted, targeted crime. >> the suspect, 48 year old jason eaton, was arrested this afternoon. the police chief says the motive is under investig. seven teen hostages were released by hamas today, including a four year old american girl. hamas said in a statement that it is considering extending the cease fire with the release of more hostages. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard explains why there is
