greatly influencing everything from relations with china to the war in vietnam. henry kissinger leaves behind a complicated legacy after passing away at age 100. >> foreign policy has to reflect the continuing values of the american people, instantly recognizable with his thick glasses and deep voice. >> kissinger forged us foreign policy during critical moments in american history. he fled germany in the 1930, eventually becoming a us citizen, then a political scientist at harvard in 1969, president nixon named him national security adviser. >> i shall nominate and send to the senate for confirmation the name of dr. henry kissinger. >> four years later, kissinger was secretary of state opening diplomatic relations with china and reducing tensions with the soviet union. >> he changed the paradigm of the cold war by establishing detente with the soviets and being the architect of opening china and changing the cold war

and higher drug prices at pharmacies. a dramatic rescue at the southern border. members of a marine tactical unit saved a migrant woman and her two kids who nearly drowned trying to swim across the rio grande in texas to texas. agents say these dangerous rescues are happening more often amid a new surge of migrants. it's a key issue in congress, with house republicans demanding more restrictions at the border before passing more funding for the war in ukraine. >> the house is expected to vote tomorrow on whether to expel new york congressman jorge santos. the ethics committee found he used campaign funds to pay for rent design, clothes and even botox. but speaker mike johnson and other republicans are raising concern about expelling santos before the conclusion of his criminal trial, arguing he's innocent until proven guilty. >> i personally have real reservations about doing this. i'm concerned about a precedent that may be set for that. >> santos faces 23 federal charges, including credit card
