ticket holder to perdition. >> there's different things that makes you feel that as a as a season ticket holder. yeah. they're kind of ripping you off here and there and there's not a lot you can do about it. >> frustration and disappointment for the 40 niners faithful over increasing season ticket prices. good evening. thank you for joining us. i'm dan ashley and i'm ama daetz season ticket holders say they weren't given much notice that their tickets would be more than doubling in price. and on top of that they say getting in touch with their niners sales representatives has been difficult. >> abc seven news reporter dustin dorsey spoke with those frustrated fans and he joins us live from levi stadium. dustin. >> yeah you know, in sports we're taught to never really look ahead to next year or the next day. really even. but for 40 niners fans looking ahead to 2024, they've got to wonder at this point if they want to be season ticket holders, how much will it cost them? the cost of being a 40 niners fan has just gone up. >> her faithful baby always

represent hundreds of season ticket holders. >> are now faced with the reality of paying thousands of dollars more for season tickets or possibly lose the seats they've had for years. >> you know, faithful toward the team. and the team has nothing to do with this. right. it's really the management of the team that's that's failing us. we spoke with three fans and received emails from others who got word from the 40 niners membership service team that seats in sections 232 to 235 and 243 to 246 at levi stadium are now designated as preferred seats and with that comes a price hike that shocked them all. >> brian hate is a 20 year season ticket holder. last year i went to 4500 for this is for the two tickets and then 9300 for next year for the two tickets. 50 year family season ticket holder elizabeth lent sits in section 252. we pay approximately $4,000 a year for our ticket, and next year it'll be closer to 9 or 10,000. raymond reynolds in section 233 has had family season tickets since kezar stadium, and his prices went from 9000 for four

seats to 20,000in 2024. >> but they're not moving our seats. you know, the people that sit in the sub seats that they pay $20,000 to sit there and they're on the 30, 40, 50 yard line and we're in the end zone. so it's like, all right, what am i getting? >> a levi stadium spokesperson told us the ticket holders are getting additional benefits, including access to an indoor club space, and these benefits are reflected in the price increase. the spokesperson also told us that the organization is in communication with the season ticket holders, although the fans we spoke with say they have gotten little response as of now , if the fans refuse to pay the increased prices, they'll lose their tickets. but just like they are faithful to the team, they remain faithful. a resolution is possible. i have faith that the 40 niners are going to try to make this right. >> and maybe i'm foolish. you know, i know it's a corporation, but you just can't believe you season ticket holders for 40 years and this is how it ends. >> and of course, now at this point, the deadline for the first payment of the monthly

bills was november 30th and a february deadline looms for the full invoice. but these fans are uncovered while paying anything right now until they really get some more answers at this point. >> dan and ama, well, you can understand, dustin, it's an awful lot of money. here's a question. is there a way fans can just simply move out of the seats that they have to cheaper parts of the stadium and still get to see the games live? but save some money? >> yeah, at this point, there are something called a receipt relocation plan that they could get themselves into. that happens in june. that's when season ticket holders opt out of their tickets and those go back up to the area. but at that time, of course, that is a lottery system. so there's really no guarantee that they will be able to get where they want or even around the people that they want at that time. >> dan so they're taking a bit of a risk if they wait for that and try it all right, dustin, thanks very much. >> let's take a look at the rain now from earlier today in the east bay hills, but the wet weather is moving out soon. for the details on what to expect

next, let's get to abc7 news. meteorology ologist sandhya patel. hi, sandhya. hi there. >> yeah. ama, what's coming up next after these showers is cold weather. let's check out live doppler seven though first. and we're still tracking some scattered showers around the region. they're not everywhere. these are focused in the south bay right now. coyote across morgan hill, san martin, you will notice some of those right around gilroy, monterey road. so if you do have to travel, keep that umbrella handy. give yourself that extra time because those areas are still seeing the wet weather. also right along the san mateo coast, el granada highway one. and you will notice some showers around airport street definitely just popping up. still as this system is going in. and you will notice those snow showers in the sierra still coming in. so we'll keep those showers around for maybe another hour or two. and then behind this system, clouds really clear out. and we're going to notice the chill. but until the showers are out of here for this evening, it's still a level one. scattered showers, light accumulation, slippery roads and breezy

conditions. here's a live view of what's to come from our emeryville camera. and we do have a freeze warning going up at midnight tonight for the north bay valleys until 9 a.m. tomorrow. temperatures down to the upper 20s. frost and freeze will damage plants. it's a freeze watch for saturday morning. so, you know, another cold mornings coming. i'll be back with those temperatures in just a few minutes. >> dan okay, sandhya, thanks very much. to our jewish viewers, happy hanukkah. hanukkah begins tonight in san francisco. the public menorah lighting ceremony is getting underway right now. in fact, at union square. it's one of the oldest and largest public menorahs outside of israel. these are live pictures this year. some community leaders say ceremonies will be more subdued given the ongoing israel-hamas war and the strong emotions on both sides. but others say the holiday, which celebrates resilience, will shine bright amid one of the darkest periods in recent jewish history. abc7 news reporter suzanne phan is live right now from union square . suzanne >> so, dan, we have so many

families out here tonight. of course, we have a lot of security and we've got hundreds of people out here preparing to mark the celebration. the beginning of the hanukkah celebration. now with the war going on in gaza and more cases of anti semitism across the united states, people are telling us celebrations in san francisco are going to be very different this year. for many jews, hanukkah will carry a lot more weight this year. they eight night festival starts with lighting the first candle on a menorah. rabbi moshe langer is with chabad san francisco, so lord knows there is sadness with all the massacre that happened on on october seventh this year. >> it's something like that hasn't been seen since the holocaust against the jewish people. >> this year many will be thinking about the more than 1200 people in israel who were killed by hamas militants and the hundreds more taken captive. >> there's a lot of sadness and we're trying to heal in our community here at zahav. >> we are mourning so many losses and we're also in pain over what's going on here in our

own communities in thinking a lot about the ways that anti-semitism, anti-arab, violence and racism all tie together. >> rabbi michael copeland says her congregation in the castro district will celebrate hanukkah, a little differently this year. >> this year is a celebrating. it might be a little bit more subdued than in past years. we like to go over the top and joy and dancing, and this year that doesn't feel quite right. we still need to bring in the joy, but we're also go really deep in sadness as well. >> state senator scott wiener recognizes the challenge times we face globally and in san francisco, given rising cases of anti-semitism and violence. >> as we've seen jewish businesses in san francisco and l.a. in in new york be targeted, which is straight up anti-semitism. it's really a scary time for the jewish community. i know it's a scary time for our muslim and arab arab communities. >> local leaders say it's important to take this time and to remember the essence of the holiday. >> so it is a somber time. but

facing criticism after their congressional testimony on college anti-semitism. >> we've seen the presidents of some of our most elite universities literally unable to denounce calling for the genocide of jews as anti-semitic . that lack of moral clarity is simply unacceptable. >> emhoff said. the story of hanukkah has always been one of hope and resilience. the national menorah has become an internet symbol of religious freedom ever since the first lighting in 1979. >> medical supplies from california are arriving, have arrived now in gaza and israel. the governor's office released this video today saying a total of 104 pallets of medical supplies, including 50 bed field hospital support equipment, wound kits and wheelchairs to nearly identical shipments of supplies, went to gaza and to israel. the governor's office says the shipments are considered surplus and do not impact the state's disaster equipment supply.

>> california is facing its worst budget deficit in over 30 years. the state's non partizan fiscal analysis announced today that california is in the hole about $68 billion. the deficit is due to lower than expected tax revenues this year. lawmakers say that while the deficit is unwelcome news, the state is also holding record reserve leaves that should cover the budget shortfall. all right. >> coming up, sad news from the beloved tilden park. little farm in berkeley. tonight, we're learning about a deadly virus that claimed the lives of some of the animals there. >> plus, helping permitted vendors in san francisco's mission district. the economic relief being offered now that the street vending ban is in place. abc seven news at five. we'll be right

outbreak of a virus called myxomatosis forced veterinarians to euthanize all of the bunnies to save them from painful symptoms and certain death. park officials say one rabbit contracted the virus last month, and by the time it was diagnosed, all of the rabbits had been exposed. the disease is common and harmless among wild cottontail rabbits in the area. however, it does have a 99% mortality rate in domestic rabbits. we've been reporting about the ban on street vending along san francisco's mission street as part of the city's effort to tackle the stolen goods market. >> but the ban has affected permitted vendors in the area. so today, city officials are unveiling a plan to offer financial help to those who need it. abc7 news reporter luz pena has that story. tensions continue to flare in san francisco's mission district as primitive street vendors hold a private meeting with supervisor hillary ronen urging her to end the 90 day street ban. >> everyone after that, including myself, angry,

disappointed because she don't listen to us. she don't pay attention to us. she just came here and say, this is what i want. >> after two weeks of the ban, the city announced a financial support package for vendors. but many say they just want to go back to the streets. >> thousand dollars, that's nothing for us. this $1,000, that's money that doesn't mean anything for us because with $1,000, we can go thousand dollars. we can make it if we sell on the street in one week easily. >> podemos supporter we can support ourselves thursday. >> mayor breed said the city's one time payout was in response to the challenges vendors are facing as city inspectors and law enforcement tackle unpermitted street vendors selling stolen items on mission street. >> we don't want them to be penalized financially because of all the other stuff that's going on. >> san francisco office of economic and workforce development is also launching a marketing campaign to help the e city rented for vendors to sell

indoors. >> so we're really launching the campaign today. we've been working with community partners. we have a website, we even have profiles of the vendors on some of them their in their products. >> vendors have categorized those two locations. 2137 mission street and a large tent on lilac alley as dead zones. veinticuatro runs the tent. >> it's still affecting the people that were following the rules, were paying taxes that have a legit business. >> santiago lerma with supervisor bonin's office, said the ban is working and will continue despite the challenges. >> the street has been clear. the amount of drug users on the street has really diminished. >> it's so clean now, why not let them go back is what many of them are saying. >> well, the issue is that we have a lot of folks that are just waiting for us to turn our back. >> vendors say they feel like collateral damage in a fight to end illicit activity, despite them having permits all along. >> the plan is yes, to escalate,

did. >> abc seven news meteorologist sanjay patel is here. hi, sandy. >> hi there. yeah, it was nice to see the rain and we still have some showers out there. dan and let's take a look at live doppler seven rainfall totals so far today. napa picking up about a quarter of an inch. san francisco low, 1400s. we're still counting san jose, four hundredths of an inch. it is raining right now in gilroy across highway 101. if you do have to travel, you will notice that there is some wet pavement out there and also right around the peninsula, half moon bay, main street there in downtown half moon bay, highway one, you're getting wet. so i would hang on to the umbrellas for maybe another hour or two and then you're done. so looking at the wider picture here, you will notice that the sierra has been seeing snow showers. there's certainly a colder air mass that's coming in behind this system. but the snow showers right now, tahoe is reporting 30 degrees. truckee, some light snow. winter weather advisory until 10 p.m. tonight. additional 2 to 6in of snow expected and the snow level is around 4500ft. now at the higher elevations above 6000, expect up

to an additional ten inches of snow. here's how much has fallen so far. a foot at sugar bowl and sierra at tahoe, palisades, tahoe picking up 15in kirkwood, nine inches. and here's a live view from our mount rose where, yeah, you're seeing some snow coming down. really pretty view right now. and a lovely view from our exploratorium camera right now as we look towards salesforce tower mid to upper 50s, san francisco, oakland, san jose, 57 degrees right now. half moon bay, 52 from our mt. tam cam, just a lovely view of the post sunset sky and temperatures are dropping in the low 50s from santa rosa to napa, 55 right now in concord. here is a look at what you can expect. the headlines the next few days through early evening. we're going to keep those spotty showers in tomorrow, cold and frosty in the morning. freeze warning for the north bay and as we go towards the weekend, the outlook is calling for chilly morning, dry days both saturday and sunday. so this evening, we'll keep it as a one for the time being. a level one on our

storm impact scale. scattered showers, light accumulation, slippery roadways still and breezy conditions. maybe another hour or two, like i said. and then this system is out of here. notice the skies begin to clear just some higher clouds coming in and some valley fog forming as we typically see. so the north bay, you could see a few patches of fog tomorrow morning. and then after that, you will notice the chill in the air, which is why the north bay valleys are going under that freeze warning. protect your pets by bringing them inside any tender plants and obviously don't forget about any water pipes outside, wrap them, drain them first. so that you don't end up with some damage. tonight at 6:00 40s 50. see those temperatures coming down to the low 40s by 10 p.m. tonight. and as we go hour by hour, going into tomorrow morning, subfreezing conditions for parts of the north bay valleys, which is why we are expecting that freeze warning. 30 in santa rosa tomorrow morning, getting down to 36 in fairfield, livermore, 39 in san jose, 42. oakland 45
