>> we are back now with the most powerful rocket ever built. this is the latest test flight of the spacex starship. nasa hopes it will one day take astronauts back to the moon. but after flying further than two previous tests last year, the spacecraft. the spacecraft lost contact with mission controllers and then burned up on its way back to earth. spacex thought it would break apart when it hit the ocean. >> alec baldwin is asking a judge now to dismiss the charges he's facing, stemming from that fatal shooting on the set of rust. baldwin has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of crew member halyna hutchins, who was shot when a gun held by baldwin went off in a court filing, his attorneys say baldwin should be cleared because prosecutors violated, quote, every rule in the book. it's unclear when the judge will rule on the motion. baldwin's trial is expected to start in july. >> actor pierce brosnan has pleaded guilty to a charge of walking in a restricted area at yellowstone national park.

event. after a half a mile wide tornado impacted several villages, including russells point and lake view. one official calling that scene pure devastation. >> meanwhile, there is more snow on the way today in colorado and in the southern rockies. we get the friday forecast from accuweather's, melissa constanza, melissa rhiannon, good morning. >> the biggest snowstorm of the year on the books in denver as we finish up with the last of the snow, about a foot of snow in downtown denver. meanwhile there's severe weather in the southeast as we head through today and into tonight. watch these thunderstorms continue south throughout the day with strong severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours. damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possibility. the wet weather hangs around for the weekend while the northeast finds cooler air moving in over the great lakes. rhiannon. lionel. >> all right, melissa, thank you for that. the morning's other big story a michigan father now joins his wife as the only parents convicted for a mass shooting committed by their son, who was already serving life.

>> their sentencing is set for april 9th, which means by this time next month, the entire family could be in prison. guilty of involuntary manslaughter. this morning, the guilty verdict for james crumbley is being described as a wake up call for parents nationwide. >> it's a watershed moment for our families and parents when it comes to guns. >> a jury in michigan convicting crumbley on four counts of involuntary manslaughter, holding him partially responsible for failing to prevent his son ethan from fatally shooting four students at oxford high school, buying the gun four days earlier and failing to properly secure it. >> the defense argument was he just didn't know he didn't know his son was this dangerous, and i suspect the jurors saw through that. that's not okay for a parent to have no idea that your child is on the verge of this kind of mass murder. >> crumbley's wife, jennifer, was convicted on the same charges last month. prosecutors argued the crumbleys missed warning signs about their son's

mental health, including a text message in which ethan revealed he was hearing voices. he wrote, i actually asked my dad to take me to the doctor yesterday, but he just gave me some pills and told me to suck it up, prosecutors also detailed a meeting at the school the day of the shooting between ethan, his parents and school counselors. after a morbid drawing was found on ethan's math assignment, the school says ethan's parents refused to take him home, and ethan was allowed to stay in school because he had no prior disciplinary infractions. the victim's parents say last night's verdict does not end their push for justice. >> we need to start focusing on the school. the school and its failures, the things that they don't want to admit to so we can put people on the moon, we can build skyscrapers. >> huge monuments like the hoover dam. and we can't keep

our skills, our kids, safe in schools. >> legal experts note the crumbleys are the first parents in u.s. history convicted in a mass school shooting. >> it does send a message that prosecutors might pick this up and start holding parents accountable. actually, being responsible for manslaughter as if they participated. >> james crumbley will be sentenced next month on the same day as his wife. involuntary manslaughter carries a maximum of 15 years in prison, but the crumbleys could each face up to 60 years. that's a prosecutors asked for consecutive sentences on all four convictions. >> now to a historic moment for vice president kamala harris, becoming the first sitting vice president to visit a clinic that performs abortions. harris toured a planned parenthood facility in minnesota, where she said women can be free from judgment. she said women are suffering because of the restrictions on reproductive rights, and she blamed former president trump for the overturning of roe v wade.

>> senate majority leader chuck schumer is receiving backlash and praise this after a blistering condemnation of the israeli prime minister. schumer is calling for new elections in israel, saying benjamin netanyahu is too willing to tolerate the civilian deaths in gaza. abc's matt gutman has more on that stunning rebuke from senate majority leader chuck schumer calling for israel to hold new elections because he believes prime minister benjamin netanyahu is an obstacle to peace. >> as a lifelong supporter of israel, it has become clear to me the netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of israel after october 7th. >> in a 40 minute speech, schumer, the highest ranking jewish official in the u.s, saying israel has lost its way and demanded it do more to protect civilians in gaza. netanyahu's likud party, criticizing the speech, saying israel is not a banana republic whose leader can be swapped out. the ramped up rhetoric comes as the idf prepares to launch a major military operation in the

southern gaza city of rafah. the israeli military now says it will evacuate 1.4 million displaced people there before it attacks. but with gazans facing famine, the white house and democrats under increasing pressure for a ceasefire and for increased aid into gaza at a border crossing not far from rafah, we spoke to the israeli commander responsible for allowing aid into gaza, israel, blaming the u.n. for failing to distribute aid. specifically. are you saying that there's no hunger or that there is no starvation in the north of gaza? i'm saying because the un is about to declare famine. >> i'm saying that there is no starvation. there are challenges. there are challenges of accessibility. >> also, senator schumer's remarks were greeted with cheers by some, including israel's opposition. but even though netanyahu is deeply unpopular in israel, some of his staunchest opponents said it should be only israeli citizens who decide their prime minister, matt gutman, abc news, jerusalem. >> all right, matt gutman, thank you for that. there is new information about what may have

caused a latam airlines jet to plunge in mid-air this week. about 50 passengers on the sydney to auckland flight were hurt when the plane suddenly descended. the wall street journal reports the sudden drop may have happened when a flight attendant hit a switch on the pilot seat that caused the seat to move forward into the plane's controls, pushing the plane's nose down. so far, though, no comment from the airline. >> it certainly is feeling like it here in new york city. and tuesday is the first day of spring, which means it's time to get the grills fired up. >> but instead of chicken or beef, eco activists are pushing a more sustainable choice. we're talking snake meat, scientists say. snakes, especially pythons, can be converted into food more efficiently and raised more easily than even livestock and even pizza hut. >> what has slithered its way into the serpent market you see here? this is a pizza topped with shredded snake meat, but for that you would have to hop on a plane to hong kong. >> so if this caught on and became popular, where would you raise these five bonds? it's not
