coastal. it drove deep into central pennsylvania. there they had to declare a disaster emergency because of this flooding. this was yesterday. a lot of the town evacuated around 9:00 a.m. yesterday and there were four states that saw about a foot of rain. we have places like new jersey, new york that are under a state of emergency. all right, so what's left of debby? this. remnants of debby moving out and we're starting to dry out. that's good news and not done watching the tropics. take a look. 80% of development for this area right here. just off the coast of africa and got to keep a close eye on friends and family out in the caribbean. in the northeast here's the good news. i know you been wondering when is it done? as we head through the afternoon we'll see a lot more sunshine breaking through the clouds and we should see temperatures jump into the upper 80s. pretty close to 90 in boston and new york city, humidity also dropping, so debby will take that with it. we'll see the humidity not only drop today but more tomorrow. that's a look at your forecast and tropical update. whit, back to you. >> whit: somara, thank you. now to the israeli air strikes on a school in gaza city. dozens reportedly killed

including children. the idf says there was a hamas command center at that location. abc's tom soufi burridge joining us now from tel aviv with the latest. tom, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, whit. yeah, the idf striking a school housing hundreds of displaced families in gaza city, more than 90 people now killed in that strike according to gaza's civil defense, a body controlled by hamas. video showing multiple casualties, many of the images too graphic to show. the idf saying about 20 hamas and islamic jihad militants were operating from the school compound saying it used precision munitions and intelligence to mitigate the risk of harming civilians. egypt and qatar condemning the attack. qatar calling it, quote, a horrific massacre against defenseless civilians. egypt saying it was evidence of the lack of political will on the israeli side to end the war and it comes just a day after president biden released a joint statement with the leaders of egypt and qatar calling for cease-fire and hostage talks between israel and hamas to resume thursday. meanwhile, israel carrying out

another assassination deep inside lebanon killing a senior hamas commander in a lebanese city that follows two high-profile assassinations of hezbollah and hamas leaders in beirut and tehran. in a statement to abc news, iranian officials at the u.n. doubling down on iran's right to retaliate against israel but suggesting any, quote, any response would be, timed in a manner not to the detriment of a potential cease-fire in gaza. rachel? >> rachel: tom soufi burridge tracking the latest developments. tom, thank you. now to the investigation into a deadly plane crash in brazil. a jet spiraling down from the sky. abc's morgan norwood has more. so many questions and now that investigation under way into how exactly this happened. >> absolutely. good morning to you, rachel. yes, authorities recovering the black box and cockpit recorder overnight and this is going to be critical as it could hold the answers as to why that plane suddenly started to plummet from the sky. this disturbing social media video showing the plane

apparently stalling, then going into a slow spin before helplessly falling thousands of feet into the ground in a residential area in sao paulo and bursting into flames. all of this as smoke billows in the air. we know all 61 on board including 57 passengers, 4 crew were killed in that crash and overnight emergency personnel starting the grim task of removing the bodies from that crash scene. we know that the plane was traveling from cascavel, brazil, heading to an airport and started to plunge 90 seconds before crashing. the airline saying that flight 2283 took off without any operational restrictions with all systems capable of carrying out the flight. atf, the manufacturer, say they're fully engaged in the investigation. still a lot of questions now as to how this happened. brazilian authorities are taking the lead on this investigation. gio? >> gio: so many questions and we are thinking of those families. all right, morgan. thank you so much. a january 6th rioter was sentenced to 20 years in prison

zach fuentes. big changes are coming to a critical hospital in east san jose, and neighbors are fighting to stop it. come monday, regional medical center will be downgraded to a level two trauma center. it's not the full closure of the hospital had originally planned, but it does impact the kind of emergencies they can treat. neighbors and health care workers held another rally, asking the hospital to back off on its plans. the second day of the outside lands festival is today, and the rise to fame pop star sabrina carpenter headlines today. the killers headlined and closed out last night. festival organizers are expecting around 225,000 people to attend this weekend. they have a whole range of goodies out there, from food to cocktails to cannabis. it's
