campaigning in other states as well, and i'm going to do whatever kamala thinks i can do to help most. >> biden also said he was, quot, not confident at all that there would be a peaceful transfer of power if former president trump loses the election. former president donald trump had no rallies today and doesn't have much of a public schedule. this week. he said on thursday he plans to stay off the campaign trail until after the democratic national convention ends on august 22nd, his campaign said this weekend that republican vice presidential nominee jd vance will visit michigan on wednesday. vance made the rounds on the sunday talk shows today. he's defending his past comments on women and families without children. in a 2021 speech before a conservative group, vance suggested that people with children should have extra votes. in an interview today with jonathan karl on this week, he said the comments were made in response to democratic proposals to allow younger voters and were not a policy

there, including updates on the campaigns for the white house. breaking news traffic is slowly recovering after a rollover crash on the bay bridge. this crash happened just before four this afternoon on eastbound lanes of the lower deck, about a mile east of first street. fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. traffic was reduced to one lane. those other lanes reopened around five this evening. at one point, eastbound traffic leading to the bridge was backed up on city streets and on 101 as far south as potrero hill. we are following the story as dozens of people living in rvs in san francisco are in limbo. people parked on zoo road started receiving citations this past week, told they need to move by monday or else they could be towed. many of the rvs have already cleared out, but some were still parked there this afternoon. there are now signs in the area saying there will be no parking starting wednesday. people living there tell us they don't know where else to go. some of

the vehicles had been parked on winston drive, near stonestown galleria for a very long time, but were forced out ahead of a repaving project. school starts tomorrow for some 34,000 students here in the bay area. that's when oakland unified students will return to class. some other upcoming start dates. the 35 schools in the san ramon valley unified district will begin new the new school year on wednesday. that's the same day fremont unified will welcome students back to class and school starts in the san francisco unified school district on monday, august 19th. tears and joy today in the east bay was super juice, was the bubbly. what a moment. we'll take you to an emotional homecoming following a tour of duty at sea and the 2024 olympic games have wrapped up in paris tonight, we're getting a clearer picture of plans for the next

sciences, said a dead humpback whale washed ashore on friday. scientists say it may have been killed by an orca. the marine mammal center counts four other stranded whales in the bay area. this year. it's the lowest total for this time of year in at least five years. they believe one of them died because of a ship strike. but they do not know the cause for the other three. happening now. music fans are enjoying the final day of the three day outside lands music festival at san francisco's golden gate park today. sturgill simpson is headlining and post malone will perform a special country music set. teddy swims, victoria monet and chapelle rouen will also take the stage in the east bay a moment months in the making

today as a coast guard cutter returned to its home port after months at sea. friends and family gathered in alameda to watch the way she arrived. plenty of smiles and hugs as the coast guard members reunited with loved ones. they've been gone just under four months on patrol through the pacific and doing search and rescue exercises with crews from other nations. >> the best part of the trip for me was interacting with my peers from other nations, sharing lessons learned, seeing how they do operations, and then comparing personal items like our kids and our families, and seeing that we have a lot more in common than we have different. >> captain tyson schofield says the crew will enjoy a well-deserved break at home after a busy few months of missions. people soaked in the aloha spirit today without having to take a flight to hawaii. we will take you to an event on the peninsula that showcases the heritage of hawaii and polynesia, and a breezy day as we head live outside, abc7

the americans won 40 gold, tying china for the most. the u.s. took home 42 silver and 44 bronze. china came in second in the total medal race with 91, winning 27 silver and 24 bronze. great britain won 65 medals, but only 14 were gold in the host country. france won 64 medals, including 16 gold. the us has now won the most overall medals in eight consecutive summer games. now the focus shift is to los angeles, home of the 2028 summer games. mayor karen bass is sharing some bold plans. paris pledged. you may remember that the senne river would be safe for swimming in l.a, though the mayor is pitching a car free olympics. quite a shocker from a

as they mark one year since the devastating fires. organizers say they've raised almost $60,000 for recovery in lahaina in the last month, and that is certainly great news to hear because they could use it. >> they certainly could. i've been there, and i love that place. and i look forward to seeing it rebuilt. >> can't wait to get back. as to our weather system tonight, a cool pattern building right now. >> okay, here's a look at how it's building on the satellite radar. composite image. almost knocked over a mirror here, but it didn't break. we've got a steady flow onshore flow of cooling winds right now, as well as some clouds and some moisture, but no rainfall at the moment. and we've got gusts up to 25mph at concord. and it's pretty breezy at virtually all locations around the bay area. and certainly cooler than at this time yesterday. nine degrees cooler in novato and fairfield, 12 degrees cooler in concord, four degrees cooler in oakland. so let's move along and take a look at current temperature readings as we look across the embarcadero from our rooftop. camera 58 here in san francisco, mid 60s at oakland and hayward, mid 70s at san jose

and redwood city, and 57 at half moon bay. and we have low clouds and mid-level clouds as well at the golden gate right now, 68 degrees in santa rosa. we've got mid 60s at petaluma and napa, 81 at fairfield. that's our warm spot and upper 70s right now at concord and livermore. and now let's check out our forecast headlines. so for tonight the overnight hours we'll see coastal low clouds and drizzle developing once again. patchy drizzle tomorrow. below average temperatures once again. but we'll have sunny skies in the afternoon. so it's going to be a pleasantly cool to mild day. and for the remainder of the week, sunny days with minor warming but nothing very significant in terms of heat building. so here's a look at the overnight conditions. we'll see mid-level clouds, low clouds surging across the bay, of course, and locally inland with patches of drizzle near the coast and some moving onshore overnight. low temperatures will be mainly in the mid to upper 50s, so pleasantly cool for much of the bay area overnight, but a little bit milder in places like antioch and san jose, where lows will be only about 6062 degrees. highs tomorrow 60 at half moon

bay 64 san francisco across the bay at oakland, 68 degrees up in the north bay. look for highs of 75 at napa, 85 at santa rosa. the inland east bay. typically our warmest region, will not be much warmer than some of our north bay locations, mainly low to mid 80s. tomorrow 82 at concord, 84 at antioch and down in the south bay. we'll see highs of 77 at san jose, 84 at uh- morgan hill. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so after highs in the low to mid 80s tomorrow in our inland areas we'll see upper 80s on tuesday. but it's just a minor warm up maxing out at about 90 degrees in the warmest spots on wednesday. notice we'll see mid 70s around the bay shoreline throughout the week. and then for the remainder of the week, our inland areas will probably not be any warmer than about 88 degrees mid 70s around the bay and low 60s on the coast for the giants sneaking back into the wild card race. >> just a game and a half out of the third and final spot. when the day began trying to inch even closer by completing a sweep of the tigers and winning

have to go back to yesterday to see what the chef was cooking. steph curry wanted to win olympic gold for a long time, and he was largely the reason they won, hitting four threes in the final 2.5 minutes to help beat france. the last three was a classic curry a little give and go one on one from his teammate there kevin durant a little shake and bake. step back three over two defenders and a knight. knight down the court. he showed off his hoodie later with a night knight in french on it. that was cool. big hug from steve kerr right there. and then the moment a little while later getting that gold. all the work paid off because curry rose to the occasion once again. >> those last 2.5 minutes were special. guys were hyping me up. we had a confidence in what we were trying to do and, i was just really present in the moment and enjoying myself for him to come through and the two games where we were really challenged, with everything on the line, not not just come
