come and do this amazing press tour, and i'm going back in a couple of days. >> rupaul: well, okay. so -- okay, so we know you as a singer, dancer, and now you're venturing off into film. what area do you enjoy the most? >> i just love expressing myself. you know, anything that -- any place in the arts where i feel i can do me and sort of change the cultural dna or make people question things or just find a guttural expression, i'm there. >> rupaul: i love it. you know, i saw a fashion show where you performed at the fashion show while the models are doing their thing. and cher was there. >> yes. >> rupaul: were you thinking the whole time, oh my gosh, cher is right there! >> there is -- actually really interesting, because i'm not easily fazed. i was the singer at the box, y know the box in london and new york. in my early 20s i'd go on stage,

queen latifah would be there, george clooney, all these huge stars. this is when i was baby twigs. it takes a lot to faze me. i have to say, when i saw cher, i sang a bum note. >> rupaul: wait. you sang a bum note? >> i saw her, the note came out, and it was wrong. >> rupaul: but you know, it's just interesting how life throws you these curveballs. what was the most difficult part of doing "the crow"? >> um -- >> rupaul: did you guys -- did you guys slip each other the tongue? [ laughter ] this is code word now for everything. most difficult -- you didn't like being underwater. >> i didn't like being underwater. for me personally, i really don't like being underwater. for me, personally, i think it was -- it wasn't difficult, but it's a stamina thing. you know, for me when i do music

video or music projects, it's for a few days. you know, i'll shoot a music video for three days. films are months. >> rupaul: how long did this one take? >> bill did three months, i think i did two. >> something like that, 3 1/2, yeah. >> i did just over two. every day, we're shooting nights, so the hours are bananas. you're sometimes up at 4:00 a.m., going to set. it's just the stamina. but there's something really amazing about being an asset to the collective in the sense that you have to be in a good mood. you have to be there. you have to be present. it's not really about you or how you're feeling, it's about -- like submitting to the cause. >> rupaul: yeah. >> it's an amazing thing to learn for me, because being a musician, you do a show, it's two hours, you leave it all on the stage. you know, and then you leave. but this is every day. >> rupaul: well, the of the movie looks great. thanks, bill. thank you, twigs. [ laughter ] >> i love that you said that. i love that. because that is what american women -- that's what we do. i think when people see us come to the track, they know we're going to bring that. there are other countries who do it well, too, but i think the usa women, we really bring it. [ cheers and applause ] wow. wow. can i touch them? >> please. >> rupaul: okay. now, how did you get them back through customs? [ laughter ] what did you -- how did you get them out of the -- paris and all that? >> so -- these medals do not leave my sight. these are my babies. so i don't put them in my suitcase that i check. i carry them on with me.

and they are almost always stopped at the tsa check. >> rupaul: yeah, of course. >> it's almost kind of fun, because it's a little moment, you get to flex a little bit. "what are these?" "oh, just my gold medals." [ laughter ] >> rupaul: now, okay, so i know you have a silver and a bronze. have you forgotten all about them? [ laughter ] >> yeah, you know, i could have brought them, too, now that you mention it. >> rupaul: they're in a drawer somewhere now? >> they are, they are. [ laughter ] the forgotten stepchild, yes. >> rupaul: okay. so, now, where are you from? >> originally from atlanta. >> rupaul: from atlanta! [ cheers ] i lived in atlanta. and where do you live now? >> i live in austin, texas. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: why austin? >> i moved there right after graduating in 2019 to train. they have a really great sprint training group there with my coach, tanja buford olympian. the group is just incredible.

>> rupaul: hold up. you're still training? does that mean you're going to be in l.a. in 2028? >> that's the plan. [ cheers and applause ] [ rim shot ] >> rupaul: girl. girl. oh my goodness. wow. and i see your mama over there. hey, mama. [ cheers and applause ] oh, my god. i can't imagine what it's like for a parent to take so much time, so much devotion. what do you want to say to your mother for all -- and it paid off. >> well, mom, i want to thank you so much for forcing me to do track and field. [ laughter ] so, thank you. you knew what you were doing. >> rupaul: because you had a choice? why did you choose -- why did you choose track and field? >> so, i originally chose softball. i wanted to do it with my friends. track and field was not my first love, soccer was. all my friends were doing softball, so i signed up.

my mom had another idea. you know about black households. you don't get to talk back. she had made that decision for me. she said, track and field. she signed me up. i showed up to present that first day, and i never looked back. >> you're welcome, baby girl. [ cheers and applause ] always listen to your mother. >> rupaul: oh my gosh, oh my gosh. so, what advice would you have for up-and-coming athletes who really want to emulate your success? >> i would say that it's really important to put yourself in uncomfortable situations. to push yourself and challenge yourself and put yourself in environments where people are better than you. and you might have self-doubt, you might have moments where your confidence feels shaky, but that means that you're doing something right. so you keep working, you keep pushing, and the sky's the limit. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: i love that. i love that. that's beautiful. yeah. wow. 2028. so obviously you're going to be

training until 2028. but what else are you doing? what do you have your eye on? acting or sportscasting or what else interests you? >> right now, i'm really interested in health care. before i became a professional track athlete, i was studying neuro biology at harvard, and i wanted to go to medical school. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: wait a minute, you were studying neuro biology at harv harvard? >> i was, yes. and then track and field kind of had other plans for me. so when i moved to austin, i got my master's in public health at the university of texas. and now i work at a volunteer health care clinic in austin, texas. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: you have a master's degree? [ cheers and applause ] a master's degree. it's amazing. i -- i -- the world's got to look out for you, because you are something special. >> thank you. >> rupaul: thank you, gabby, for everything.
