people packing into central tel aviv overnight protesting prime minister netanyahu's handling of the war and demanding a cease fire deal to bring the remaining hostages home. police arresting dozens of protesters while using water cannons to disperse the crowd. our prime minister netanyahu decided that he wants to sacrifice her and all the other hostages to keep on fighting. >> this war. and now we see what happens. >> and now israel's national trade union is holding a one day strike to further pressure the government. the union's 800,000 members include workers at israel's main airport, tech companies and manufacturers have also vowed to join the strike. israeli officials say all six hostages were shot at close range between thursday and friday morning. their bodies found hours later in rafah saturday. >> i think what we want is a clear answer from our prime minister, from other members of the cabinet. are you committed to fulfill the primary objective

way too soon because of his faith, tradition and his background. >> the hostages bodies were found several dozen yards under gaza, inside hamas's vast tunnel system, analysts tell abc news. their deaths show hamas is running out of resources and may be running out of room in those tunnels. after months of israeli advances, prime minister netanyahu accuses hamas of refusing to negotiate after the killing of one of the group's top leaders in july. now, the u.s. reportedly plans to present a, quote, take it or leave it deal in the coming weeks, the washington post reporting. if israel and hamas fail to accept the deal, it could mark the end of u. s. led negotiations. is israel believes 101 hostages remain in captivity, including seven americans. sadly, about one third are believed to be dead. >> now to the presidential race and former president trump's visit to arlington national cemetery in the spotlight once again as vice president, harris makes her first remarks about the controversy in the meantime,

harris is preparing to do something today on the campaign trail that she has yet to do. abc's em nguyen has the details on that. and good morning. >> brandon. good morning. yeah a lot going on today. the trump campaign is fighting back against allegations that the former president's event at arlington national cemetery was a political stunt. meanwhile, vice president harris is preparing for her first event on the campaign trail with president biden on this labor day. vice president harris is set to take the stage in pittsburgh alongside president biden, part of a holiday battleground state tour that will also take harris to detroit and her running mate tim walz to milwaukee. harris has now responded for the first time to former president trump's controversial visit to arlington national cemetery last week, where he marked three years since the deadly u.s. withdrawal from afghanistan. harris, writing on social media it is not a place for politics and the former president disrespected the sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt. the trump campaign has faced

hospital after being ejected from an suv when a tire blew out. the driver lost control on i-35 and hit a tree. police say seven of the nine people in that vehicle were kids, and only one of the children was wearing a seat belt. some of the injuries are considered life threatening and tire failure was also to blame for this charter bus crash in mississippi that killed seven people on saturday. the bus was traveling from atlanta to dallas. >> nfl wide receiver ricky pearsall is home recovering after being shot in the chest in san francisco. pearsall was seen being helped into an ambulance saturday. police say he was wounded during an alleged robbery attempt and was targeted for his expensive watch. the teen suspect is in custody. pearsall's mother says the bullet exited through his back but missed his vital organs, adding he's extremely lucky. >> on this labor day, a new battle between labor and management, this time at several major hotel chains right in the middle of a busy holiday

weekend. here's abc's alison kosik. make them pay. >> this morning, at least 10,000 workers at hotels nationwide have walked off the job as contract talks stall between top hotel chains and the workers union. >> we've been here 44 years, and this is the first time we've actually been on strike in eight cities from boston to san francisco. >> workers, from desk staff to housekeepers, are striking at hyatt, hilton, marriott and omni demanding a share in what they say are record profits. they also want better health care and a reversal of staffing cuts made during the pandemic, including the restoration of automatic daily room cleaning, which was scaled back during covid. >> so the strike right now is about better living wages for hotel workers, a better health insurance, a better pension also to fix the do not disturb issues in housekeeping where hotels are charging the guests to not get

debate tuesday, september 10th live on abc. >> well, there may be a new concern when it comes to boeing's troubled starliner spacecraft. astronaut barry wilmore, one of two astronauts stuck in space for months because of starliner, reportedly told nasa that the spacecraft was making a strange noise a repetitive knocking sound. no comment yet from nasa. starliner is set to undock from the space station friday to return home empty. the astronauts have to wait until february to hitch a ride home with space x. >> investigators say there was no mayday call before this fiery plane crash that left three people dead in oregon. the cessna slammed into a row of townhouses near portland. investigators say the pilot had reported some sort of mechanical issue. both people on board were killed, along with a person who was inside one of those homes.

>> one neighborhood in california is in the midst of a slow moving disaster. the ground is shifting beneath their homes, and now they're being warned they may need to evacuate soon. >> there is no playbook for an emergency like this one. >> this morning, power has been shut off indefinitely to this neighborhood in southern california amid an ongoing landslide that could soon force residents to flee. gas has already been turned off to 140 homes in rancho palos verdes. >> there was a fire last week. it was a small fire, but the fire was caused when one of our lines fell because of land movement. and that shows how dangerous this area is. >> this slow moving crisis began last spring after heavy rains inundated the area. since then, the ground has been moving up to one foot per week, damaging roads and cracking walls and buildings. two homes have been deemed unsafe and a church has been dismantled. now residents are being told be prepared to leave at any moment. >> we're not evacuating and i don't know anybody who is. >> those vowing to stay are
