here's what it looked like. had to be incredibly terrifying. luckily, this man got out. the alamo heights and san antonio fire departments came together to get him and sick other drivers, just on this road alone out. 5 to 7 inches of rain fell quickly. they've had a lot of rain. they needed it because they were in desperate drought situations but it came really quickly. from galveston and houston, right through most of louisiana, southern mississippi into alabama. we've had elevated risk of flash flooding. this system has already shown us how slow it's moving. keep an eye on that. then the west and heat. they do have heat waves this time of year. this summer we are coming off the hottest summer on record for dozens of cities. from hartford to ft. lauderdale to the western ones like phoenix, which broke last year's super hot. they've been 100 degrees for 100 days in a row and it doesn't look like that's going to stop. that smashes the old record of 76 days. las vegas had the all time 120 over the summer. and then look at this. we've got the excessive heat warnings up to washington state, oregon. that big ridge is gonna stick around so you see those numbers.

she's taking the unusual step of hunkering down in a key battleground. she will be in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, studying up for her first ever face to face encounter with donald trump. it will give you the ability to get out there and do some informal campaigning while ailes studying up. sources tell us she's already been doing mock debates. her plan is to not go down any rabbit holes but focus on issues and pivot and attack trump. she's going to try and reverse how to keep cool, how to stay calm, while also going after trump and, yes, also trying to get under his skin. >> george: no question about that. thank you. let's go to rachel scott who's tracking the trump campaign. not one for traditional debate prep. >> reporter: donald trump has never been a fan of any formal traditional debate prep so i'm told there will be no mock debates for the former president. instead he's reviewing policy with a small group of adviser. his campaign has brought on former congress woman tolsi gabbert. she was once a rival to kamala
