article written nationally about one of our products as being, at best, stadium food. so we definitely see that. and it's funny you bring it up that we can acknowledge that now. it's pretty awesome. we're excited. it's humbling. >> and when those local restaurants thrive, levi stadium says it can too. >> if they can't survive, then they're not going to be here helping us out. so it's a two way street in my opinion. we help them out. they're partners for a reason. >> so-called frictionless concession areas will also be new, letting fans get their food and skip the checkout process. it's all part of the many factors levi's stadium hopes adds to fans game day experience at levi's stadium. zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> happening tomorrow, the 40 niners faithful will have the chance to get energized ahead of monday night's season opener against the jets here on abc seven. the niners are hosting a free rally at the plex on embedded way in san jose from 1 to 4. all fans will receive a free giveaway prize. there will also be a special drawing for additional prizes as well.

special guests and entertainment will be present. the 40 niners kick off the new season against the new york jets monday at levi's stadium. coverage begins at five right here on abc seven. do you have an idea of how weather will be there? >> it's actually going to be similar to what we experienced tonight, so it's actually going to be gorgeous. it will mostly be clear by that time. right now temperatures are in the 50s and 60s. and tonight with the fog low clouds moving in, we'll drop into the low 50s for the north bay, mid to upper 50s around most of the rest of the bay area. we could even see some patchy drizzle along the coast. tomorrow's highs also range from mid 60s at the beaches. some 70s and even some 80s around the bay and still hot inland with some mid 90s. now we're going to hang on to that heat for a couple of days, but things really cool off tuesday and wednesday for inland communities will be below average at that point. and here's the accuweather seven day

forecast. so sunshine once the morning fog clears. but the sea breeze and the winds really pick up on tuesday and wednesday. and that's where we're going to generally see cooling for areas in the inland interior locations and also around the bay, but at the beaches all week long, just kind of the mid 60s. it doesn't change too much there. >> i like it holding to on summer. >> yeah we are. i know it felt like it. >> all right, francis, thanks once again. let's get to j.r. stone with a preview of sports. hi j.r. >> the countdown is on until the forty-niners season opener on monday. but some controversial comments made by one analyst about niners quarterback brock purdy. we'll tell

francisco 40 niners. t -48 hours until kickoff. will they bounce back from the dreaded super bowl hangover? we'll begin to find out monday night against the jets right here on abc seven. only one team this century has lost the super bowl. one year and returned to play for the lombardi trophy the following year. the patriots in zero eight and oh 940 niners have reached the super bowl twice in the past four years, losing to kansas city. both times. 40 niners quarterback brock purdy is not worried about any hangover. he's focused on a new season. >> we've done so much. i feel like as a team, whether it was guys leaving, guys joining our team and growing together with the squad that we have this year and that's where our mindset is at, man, it's about 2024. you know, we just played we played in that game in february. and now it's already a new season. so for us it is it has been like that since you know we got back for otas and camp, just in terms of flipping the page and getting after it for this year, man. so it's a long season. it's a

marathon, but we know what it takes. and, you know, monday night for us it's the start of a whole new journey. so earlier this week, sports director larry beil sat down with joe buck and ryan clark ahead of the jets 40 niners matchup on monday night football. >> larry hit the two with all kinds of questions, but when brock purdy was brought up with ryan clark, who won a super bowl with the steelers, clark had this to say. when comparing the 40 niners young signal caller to other top qbs around the nfl of what a good team the san francisco 40 niners are. >> because even with brock purdy not having their level of talen, this is where that team is. this team is going to have an opportunity to win a championship. what he's asked to execute. brock purdy is obviously a top ten quarterback in this league. let's just talk about his play and what he's done. let's not compare him to whether or not i would take him over x player, for what he's done. he's played at a pro bowl
11:56 pm
level. he's won at a rate that kyle shanahan, even in his greatness in san francisco, wasn't able to do without a jimmy garoppolo at quarterback. and he's even exceeded that with his level of play with this level of ability to be able to affect the game and so like the way i look at it, i think brock purdy is the perfect player for them. i think brock purdy has shown that he deserves another contract and he plays at a championship level. >> one more reminder. we've got the 40 niners and jets live from levi's stadium here on monday night. we'll have all the highlights and interviews after the game. i will be live in our 4 p.m. show. prior to the game, our official pregame coverage starts at 5:00. kickoff at 515 here on abc seven. upset of the day. northern illinois at number five notre dame in south bend, 31 seconds left in the game. 35 yard field goal attempt by keenan woodall. it's good. notre dame fans are distraught. niu

wins the 1614. and get this notre dame had to pay niu $1.4 million just to come play them. and a loss in the end. finally, we had to show you this one handed catch by christian fitzpatrick of marshall. one handed grab against virginia tech. unreal. reminds me of another incredible wideout who played for marshall not too long ago. yep, hall of famer randy moss. this abc seven sports report is sponsored by river rock casino. dion j.r. >> thank you. and a reminder now you can watch all of our newscasts live and on demand through the abc seven bay area connected tv app. it's available for apple tv, google tv, amazon fire tv and roku. just download the app now and start streaming for free. well, that's all the time we have for this edition of abc seven news at 11. i'm dion lim. the news continues tomorrow morning at 5:00 for francis and j.r. and all of us here at abc
