with a holiday album, and it's her first record in ten years. >> good morning. it is monday, september 9th, and it's also a king's birthday. >> happy happy birthday friends. thank you. >> extra excited because we missed you. >> i appreciate that. >> missed you friend. >> we hope you had a good time. >> i had a really good time and it's actually my anna birthday. woo! it's also my wedding anniversary. >> how about that? that's pretty cool. yeah. two things to celebrate one day, right? and the niners are playing tonight. >> and they are all the things. yeah. >> well there you go. >> well, i don't have much to celebrate in weather, except we're going into a cooling trend compared with last week. i'm really looking forward to the weather coming our way this week. nice little onshore flow right now and starting the day off and comfortably cool. temperature range 55 degrees here in the city right now. across the bay at oakland 58. we've got mainly mid to upper 50s around the bay. the inland east bay is mild at the moment. it will be warming up a little bit in the afternoon to a low to mid as well. low to mid 60s.

right now we'll see some low 90s in the afternoon hours. but generally we've got a cool week ahead of us. much cooler than last week. so the forecast headlines are sunny this afternoon with mild to warm conditions. middle of the week will be breezy and much cooler than last week friday through sunday. going into the weekend, turning slightly warmer but still in a nice comfortable range of pre autumn kind of range of high temperatures. so here's what we have today. inland east bay will still be pretty warm but not extremely hot like last week. we'll see some low 90s there. 91 concord, 93 livermore. around the bay shoreline, mainly mid 70s up in the north bay. we'll see highs in the low to mid 80s and on the coast mid 60s. so lovely day ahead and i'll have a look at the extended weather a little bit later. but right now traffic with amanda. >> good morning spencer. we'll start with a look at our overall map already reflecting that typical slowdown along the altamont pass. we do have a problem spot though in san jose. this is because of a solo crash at the southbound 101 connector ramp to eastbound 237. it isn't causing any real delays, but

people there will notice a crash down the embankment into the trees on the left hand shoulder. another look at another view of san jose. 101 8-80 crossing. very quiet this monday morning. no real issues otherwise to report and to our oakland, 8-80 cam. no issues in both directions of the nimitz cars past the coliseum. let's get back to the desk. >> thanks, amanda. developing news. cal fire crews spent all night working to contain the boyles fire in clear lake. it's burned nearly 90 acres in the southern end of town. firefighters said 30 buildings have burned. nearly 50 vehicles destroyed since that fire started yesterday afternoon. now, at one point, crews faced spot fires on nearly every block as they helped neighbors race to evacuate. >> every time you turn around, there is a new spot fire and there's not a straight line to get from point a to point b, so it was a challenge just to get those people evacuated and try to do the fire stop. once you get a chance to drive through there, you're going to look at

the tremendous amount of structure saved. >> the fire isn't spreading anymore, but those buildings are still smoldering. some residents are finding out their homes were some of the unlucky few to be caught in the flames. >> fire is coming to very close at 100ft, two feet. and then i say, i think it's time to go. i need to wait because the fires started all the way to there. when i saw it to here, i think it's very close. >> was your home destroyed? >> i hope yeah. everything is destroyed. >> crews have reported making good progress on the fire. there have been no injuries reported. >> the fire caused a lot of scary moments for people living in that area. abc seven news reporter j.r stone shows us the frightening views captured by neighbors as the boyles fire spread. >> an apocalyptic fire scene in clear lake as this huge plume of smoke rose into the sky. dawn hunt took this video driving into lower lake and said the situation just looked worse and worse as the day progressed.

>> when i'm heading in, if you take a right up into the walmart parking lot, i just glanced in that direction. the flames were huge, huge flames. >> one viewer took this picture showing the smoke and flames just beyond the clear lake mcdonald's. this picture was taken behind the nearby hospital. sadly, many structures burned. tracy long took this video with her husband as they were headed back home to clear lake. >> when i got the video, i remember thinking that there was no way our house was going to survive the enormity of what we were looking at. >> fortunately for them, their home was 15 to 20 blocks from flames and is still standing in that video though if you look closely, you can see the flames just shooting up into the air. tracy described not only the sight of this, but the sounds. >> you could actually hear the propane tanks exploding as we drove through lower lake, and when we got home, i went out

front and i asked my husband, did you hear something explode? and he said, no, but it's probably the propane tanks. and when i came back in, you could hear they sound like bombs going off. >> fire crews could be seen battling the flames from above, dropping water and fire retardant on hotspots. sadly, a number of homes were destroyed. >> you could just see houses just turning black, one after another. yeah, it was terrible. it was absolutely terrible. just by the color of the smoke. you know what it is? it's horrible. it's so sad. >> a lot of prayer went out today, you know, not just for our house, but our prayers are always with the firefighters that they, you know, that they're able to put the fire out and that they get to go home to their families. >> j.r. >> stone, abc seven news. >> we're also tracking a massive fire threatening thousands of homes in southern california. the lion fire is sweeping fast through the highland area of san bernardino county. it started thursday. it has grown to more

than 20,000 acres. it's threatening more than 36,000 structures. evacuation orders and warnings are in place for several communities. so far, there is no containment on that fire. >> you can keep track of wildfires across the state with our interactive wildfire tracker. just head to abc seven news.com/fire map. >> in just one day, vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump will face off for the first time on a debate stage, and you'll see it right here on abc seven. amanda, how have both campaigns been preparing the past couple of days? >> reggie. over the weekend, the harris team took a break from debate preps in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. the vice president and second gentleman were spotted taking a walk. yesterday when asked by reporters if she's ready for the debate, the vp gave a thumbs up and said, quote, i'm ready. prior to the weekend, vp harris had been holding mock debates with full tv lighting. former president donald trump has so far downplayed his debate prep. he's held no mock debates over the weekend. he appeared to lower expectations for tomorrow.

news reporter gloria rodriguez joining us live at levi's stadium with more on that. good morning, gloria. >> good morning kumasi. there is certainly a lot of excitement about the niners first game of the season, and you might be able to see behind me. the barricades are up, the metal detectors are up as they get ready for the first game of the season, but there is a little bit of frustration among some of the niners most diehard. season ticket holders joe leonora of the niner empire group says that he and others who are involved in the big tailgates have gotten emails from the 40 niners that certain rules will be enforced at levi's stadium parking lots. that includes no loud music and enforcing what's called directed parking. it's a parking process that's similar to what you'd see at a theme park with vehicles being waved in. niners have said this is all about safety, and the levi's stadium website says directed parking maximizes the use of available spaces. >> we pay $3,000 per seat

jeopardy! and then a special edition of abc seven news at ten. >> time for a look at the weather. we'll start this day and this week with some patchy morning mist. but basically we've got clear conditions right now, although we expect some of this mist to deepen and expand before we get sunny skies in the afternoon. temperatures right now 55 here in san francisco, upper 50s at oakland and hayward, 64 at san jose and mid to upper 50s at redwood city and half moon bay. looking across the embarcadero from our rooftop camera. nice view right now. 51 degrees up north at santa rosa, 56 petaluma, napa 57 low 60s inland at fairfield, concord and livermore. that will be our warmest region today. but the hot weather from last week has dissipated or is dissipating. i should say. so for today, look for a sunny afternoon with mild to warm temperatures in the afternoon. middle of the week will bring breezy, in fact windy in some spots and much cooler weather. but as the weekend approaches, it will turn slightly warmer. but again, nothing like the heat we had last week. so for today, look for afternoon highs over in the inland east bay in the low 90s

run over a car, drove into a group of people during a sideshow saturday night in oakland. it happened in the intersection of hegenberger and edgewater. we are stopping the video just a second before the car hit the spectators. a woman was hit and then the driver took off. some in the crowd rushed to help her. another sideshow took place on the bay bridge. the chp says around 330 yesterday morning, at least 100 cars blocked all the westbound lanes. this lasted about 20 minutes and a vehicle hit the crowd there too. no arrests have been made. >> a southwest flight headed to sfo was diverted to a southern california airport after crew members say they smelled smoke in the cabin. the flight originated in phoenix. it made the emergency landing at ontario international airport in san bernardino county on saturday. the southwest spokesperson said they inspected the plane, which was a boeing max eight, and didn't find anything unusual. passengers boarded another plane and landed in san francisco saturday night. >> happening today, kaiser

patches of light, thin clouds out there. winds are generally light to calm. although we have 12mph winds right now at sfo. so let's move along. take a live view from our exploratorium camera, looking at a little misty sky over san francisco. 55 degrees here in the city right now. we have upper 50s at oakland and hayward, 64 at half moon bay. redwood city 58. 54 at harbor. at half moon bay. again, i think i said that twice, didn't i? santa rosa, 51 degrees. we have upper 50s. mid to upper 50s. petaluma and napa. low 60s at fairfield and concord and 60 at livermore. now you see, we have lots of drizzle offshore right now. and some of this patchy drizzle is actually moving onshore as well. so if you're driving or biking or jogging near the coastline, you might encounter some of that drizzly mist. this morning. but you can see that by midday it's going to start clearing across the entire region. so we'll go into the afternoon with mainly sunny skies, mild to warm conditions, middle of the week. it will be breezy and much cooler. a breezy day will be on wednesday. tomorrow may be the coolest day as we'll have a sharp drop in temperatures from

>> that is big shoes to fill now. but he can do it. >> and hopefully the niners will see it again right in person. >> yeah indeed. good morning everybody. it is monday, september 9th. >> spencer how's the weather today? >> weather's looking pretty good today and going into game time. weather is looking nice for the night. well, nice for everybody, but especially for the niners. let's take a look at our 24 hour temperature change. we're starting the day with most locations a degree or two warmer than they were this time yesterday. the exception would be up in the north bay, which is our coolest spot right now. 51 degrees at santa rosa. 57 over at saint helena, 50 at sonoma. but as we move down to the city here, we've got 5558 in oakland. we've got some low 50s on the coastline right now, but over the inland east bay, it's already warming up into the low to mid 60s. so that will be our warmest region today. look for sunny skies just about everywhere by afternoon with mild to warm conditions going into the middle of the week, it will turn breezy and much cooler. it will feel like fall, although fall is not quite here yet. and then friday through sunday, going into the approaching weekend, it will be turning slightly warmer, but

nothing like the heat we had last week. the closest thing to last week's heat will be today's highs in the inland east bay, where we'll see some low 90s down in the south bay. look for a high of 85 at san jose around the bay shoreline, mainly mid 70s. we expect a high of 69 here in san francisco today and mainly mid 80s up in the north bay. let's take a look now at traffic with amanda. >> yeah. good morning spencer. a quick glance at our overall map as we get you right back to san jose. we have been tracking this connector ramp issue, a solo crash in san jose at southbound 101, connector ramp to eastbound 237. we have learned that the ramp is now blocked until towing can get to the scene. this is a solo crash down the embankment, into the trees, off the left hand shoulder. but the good news there no delays that we're seeing. then to the north bay, santa rosa, westbound 12 before fulton road, a pickup truck overturned and is on its side and in a ditch. but again, no delays there either. golden gate bridge, the only issue here is a dense fog advisory. it's been issued for the golden gate, yet

traffic is flowing freely across the span in both directions. so that's the good news there. let's get back to the desk. >> amanda. thank you. developing news on the boils. fire burning near clear lake, impacting residents and wildlife. fire crews worked through the night to contain the fire. yesterday, more than 4000 people were under evacuation in lake county as of the last update, which was 12 hours ago. about 90 acres burned. clear lake hospital lost power and is running on a generator. firefighters dealt with 500 foot tall flames and embers starting too many fires to handle. they figured out where the fire started, but they haven't figured out how. clear lakes animal control says crews are out searching the fire area for pets who were left behind. they say you can leave them a message if you need their help with a missing animal. >> we're also tracking the lion fire in southern california, which has burned more than 20,000 acres and prompted evacuation orders in san bernardino county. that's where reporter tim caputo, with our sister station in la, is. with

officers showed up, they say the suspect was still armed and they shot that suspect. police have not released any other details. san francisco police are investigating a double shooting in the tenderloin. >> officers responded to willow street. that is where you see this video here on willow street with officers responding in an alleyway just off of polk. this was yesterday, just after four in the afternoon. they found two people and a dog with gunshot wounds. the officers provided medical aid until the ambulance got there. the victims were taken to the hospital, but police have not said what condition they are in. at this point, no arrests have been made as they're getting up this morning, new details emerging in the deadly school shooting in georgia. >> amanda, we're now learning the suspect's mother may have warned the school about the danger 30 minutes before the shooting. >> yeah. reggie aqui. the washington post was the first to report this new detail. the suspect's aunt says the alleged shooter's mother called a school counselor just 30 minutes before the shooting to warn them about an extreme emergency and had told the counselor to, quote, go
