just have to be aware of. let's get back to kumasi. >> thank you. amanda. developing news. cal fire crews spent all night working to contain the boyles fire in clear lake. it burned nearly 90 acres in the southern end of town. firefighters say 30 buildings have burned and nearly 50 vehicles destroyed since that fire started yesterday afternoon. at one point, crews faced spot fires on nearly every block as they helped help neighbors race to evacuate. >> every time you turn around, there is a new spot fire, and there's not a straight line to get from point a to point b, so it was a challenge just to get those people evacuated and try to do the fire stop. once you get a chance to drive through there, you're going to look at the tremendous amount of structure saved. >> the fire is no longer spreading fast, but those buildings are still smoldering. some residents are finding out their homes or some of the unlucky few caught in flames. >> fire is coming to very close at 100ft. two feet. and then i say, i think it's time to go. no need to wait because the fires
6:05 am
started all the way to there. when i saw it to here, i think it's very close. >> was your home destroyed? >> i hope yeah. everything is destroyed. >> crews have reported making good progress on the fire. there have been no injuries reported. >> and more now on that fire, causing a lot of scary moments for people living in the area. residents sent in videos showing the frightening views as the fire spread. one driver sent this video in into as they were going into lower lake and said the situation just looked worse and worse as they got closer. one viewer took this photo showing the smoke and flames just beyond the clear lake mcdonald's. this photo was taken behind the nearby hospital. sadly, many structures burned. tracy long took video with her husband as they were headed back home to clear lake. fortunately, their home is still standing. tracy describes not only the sight, but the sounds you could actually hear the propane tanks exploding as we drove through
6:06 am
lower lake, and when we got home, i went out front and i asked my husband, did you hear something explode? >> and he said, no, but it's probably the propane tanks. and when i came back in, you could hear they sound like bombs going off. >> fire crews could be seen battling the flames from the sky, dropping water and fire retardant on hot spots. we're also tracking a massive fire threatening thousands of homes in southern california. the lion fire is sweeping fast through the highland area of san bernardino county. it started thursday. it has grown to more than 20,000 acres. it's threatening more than 36,000 structures. evacuation orders and warnings are in place for several communities. so far, there is zero containment on that fire. >> the davis fire is still burning north of reno, and it's still 0% contained. it's now burned 14 buildings and 6500 acres in the area of davis creek regional park. there are power outages in the south reno area, and up to 14,000 people there are under evacuation. you can

keep track of the wildfires across the state with our interactive wildfire tracker. just head to abc seven news.com/fire map. >> in just one day, vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump will face off for the first time on a debate stage. you'll see it right here on abc seven. amanda, how are both campaigns getting ready? reggie. >> over the weekend, the harris team took a break from debate preps in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. the vice president and second gentleman were spotted taking a walk yesterday and when asked by reporters if she's ready for the debate, the vp gave a thumbs up and said, quote, i'm ready. prior to the weekend, vp harris had been holding mock debates with full tv lighting. former president donald trump has so far downplayed his debate prep. he's held no mock debates over the weekend. he appeared to lower expectations for tomorrow. >> if i destroy her in the debate, they'll say trump suffered a humiliating defeat tonight, the former president is holding informal policy sessions with advisers leading up to the
6:08 am
debate. >> this will be the first time vp harris and mr. trump have ever met, and tomorrow's performance is important for both candidates. of course, a new poll from the new york times shows the race is very tight, with the former president leading the vice president 48% to 47% among likely voters nationwide. and of course, that's well within the margin of error. back to you, reggie. >> amanda. thank you. you can watch the presidential debate tomorrow right here on abc seven. our coverage begins at 5 p.m. tonight. >> the long wait is over. the 40 niners are back in action for the season opener. and it's monday night football against cal alum aaron rodgers. and the jets fans going to the game are going to experience some new tailgating rules at levi's stadium. that's where abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is joining us live. with more on some of the changes. gloria. >> reporter. good morning. yeah. new season, new parking lot rules. and there is a lot of excitement about the niners first game of the season. i'm right here at levi's stadium.
6:09 am
behind me. might be a little hard to see, but the barricades are up. the metal detectors are up as they prepare for the first game of the season, but there is a little bit of frustration among some of the niners most diehard. season ticket holders joe leonora of the niner empire group says that he and others who are involved in the big tailgates have gotten emails from the 40 niners that certain rules will be enforced at levi's stadium parking lots. that includes no loud music and enforcing what is called directed parking. it's a parking process that's similar to what you'd see at a theme park, with vehicles being waved in. niners have said this is about safety, and the levi's stadium website says directed parking maximizes the use of available spaces. >> we pay $3,000 per seat. we have three. it's so it's like. and now now i can't park next to my friend. and that's why we have the early tailgate.
6:10 am
>> the first game of the season comes after the shooting of rookie ricky pearsall. thankfully though, he is recovering and this game will certainly be emotional for so many. so if you are coming today, the parking lots open at 145 in the afternoon. kickoff is at 515 as the niners take on the jets, and you're urged to come here early and take public transportation or carpool. if you're able to. live at levi's stadium, gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> gloria. thank you. with the upcoming game tonight, the san francisco 40 niners are happy to see rookie ricky pearsall back at their facility. although he is not yet cleared to play. pearsall brought a silver lining to the team after their super bowl loss. his coaches and teammates inspired by the rookie's recovery. >> it's kind of been amazing just watching him for him to be able to walk around and stuff with that happening and talking to the people at the e.r, you know, saying out of 100 people, two people have survived that.
6:11 am
and to be able to see him the next day, just he's able to walk. he's coming to meetings. he's doing all the he's on the injured list. >> so he'll miss at least four games. it's unclear if he'll be able to play beyond that. >> catch the niners kick off their new season against the new york jets right here on abc seven. our coverage starts at 5 p.m, then stick around for after the game with abc seven sports director larry beil. then it's wheel of fortune with new host ryan seacrest, followed by jeopardy! then a special edition of abc seven news at 10 p.m. >> checking the weather. we have some thin, misty clouds hanging around this morning. as you can see in the exploratorium camera view of parts of the san francisco skyline. it's currently 56 degrees here in the city. we have upper 50s at oakland and hayward, 63 at san jose and mid to upper 50s at redwood city, and half moon bay. looking across the embarcadero, other temperature readings right now 51 at santa rosa, we've got mid to upper 50s at petaluma and napa, 61 apiece at fairfield and concord and 60 degrees in livermore. these are our

a night of dangerous sideshows ended with one person run over a car, drove into a group of people during a sideshow saturday night in oakland. this happening at the intersection of hegenberger and edgewater. now,
6:16 am
we did stop the video just a second before the car hit the spectators. a woman was hit. then the driver in that car took off. someone in the crowd, some in the crowd rushed to help her. now another sideshow took over the bay bridge. look at this. chp says around 330 yesterday morning, at least 100 cars blocked all the westbound lanes. and this lasted for about 20 minutes. one vehicle hit the crowd here as well. no arrests have been made. new this morning, a shuttered nordstrom rack building in downtown san francisco is getting new life for the presidential campaign. according to the chronicle, san francisco democratic party will be opening the storefront on the corner of fifth and market just in time for a watch party for tomorrow's presidential debate. then they'll be using that spot as headquarters for vice president kamala harris local campaign efforts. on top of working on the presidential race, volunteers will be campaigning for congressional races in districts 13 and 22. happening today, kaiser permanente will begin rolling

6:18 am
it, you can see more on abc seven news.com/pride. >> one youtuber has achieved a world record by building the world's largest functional iphone. the man known by his handle mr. whose the boss has a channel dedicated to scaling up or down popular gadgets as a celebration for surpassing apple's subscriber count. he built a two meter tall iphone that's about 6.5ft tall. for those of us who are working on non meter system. it works. it actually works like you can send emails on it. it can take photos. it also has a working charging port and all the apps work as they would on a normal sized phone. i mean i don't know. i don't know why but okay, great. >> but can you take a selfie with it. >> look probably. >> yeah. yeah i guess you can. >> well so i'm excited about the new iphones coming out. >> yeah. because famously, both of us still have phones that are not teenagers or pre-teens, and that doesn't seem acceptable.
6:19 am
>> and we've decided that it's time. it's time. >> now, the thing that i was reading about that the new phone is going to have the little button. okay. it is kind of exciting because it'll have a physical button for you to take pictures with. oh, instead of, i think going into the app every time, you know, just so you could do it faster, like. >> yeah. yeah. >> so that's something to look forward to really. >> it doesn't matter what it has. >> it's time. >> it's time because this one is saying like glory. i want to i want to go to you. >> please please let me go to glory. why why are you forcing me to. >> to be laborious. >> i have no more storage. >> i have nothing left. >> i have nothing left. >> i just want to rest in peace. >> and i'm still out here like boo boo boo boo boo boo boo boo. stop touching me. leave me alone. it's over. oh, man. oh, gosh. >> well, on to weather, shall we? we've got nice, calm conditions this early morning in the bay area. a little bit of an onshore flow, but a gentle one.
6:20 am
the breezes aren't very strong at the moment. and there's not much of a cooling effect. the only place is cooler than it was at this time yesterday is this little section of the north bay. novato and santa rosa, about 3 or 4 degrees cooler. so here's a view from our exploratorium camera. looking back at the cityscape of san francisco. 56 here in the city right now, upper 50s, the temperature readings in oakland and hayward 63 at san jose, redwood city 57 and 54 at half moon bay. and the sky is getting brighter as we look toward the east southeast from our rooftop camera. 51 degrees in santa rosa right now. petaluma and napa, both in the mid to upper 50s, 61 apiece at fairfield and concord and 60 degrees at livermore. and these are our forecast headlines today will give us mainly sunny skies by afternoon. it will be mild to warm by middle of the week. look for a breezy and much cooler pattern that starts tomorrow. as a matter of fact, with a sharp drop from today's high temperatures friday into sunday, the weekend turning slightly warmer once again. for today, look for highs of 64 at half moon bay, 69 here in san francisco. up in the north bay 84. san rafael 87 santa rosa.

6:22 am
months to go until the election. also, we're looking at wildfires in your state. mola lenghi is out there in southern california for us. he'll have the evacuations, but i'll have that forecast and then speaking of forecasts, the gulf coast is starting to wake up and say, okay, so by midweek we're going to have some sort of storm. looks like a hurricane making landfall in central coastal louisiana. but we'll be watching that carefully because the center still has yet to form. it will be called francine by the way. also, monday night football kicking off with the jets versus 40 niners. so we're going to hear from aaron rodgers. less interesting to you i'm sure since you're playing him as he prepares to make his return to the field after being injured in the first game last season. plus, our big surprise for a very deserving fan ahead of that game. also, ryan seacrest and vanna white are here. my new friends, they're beginning a new era for wheel of fortune and also tennis great venus williams. it's like espn on gma. it's a lot of fun. very sporty. >> do you even know who to ask you about i know. >> well i was going to ask you about because kumasi met vanna white and pat sajak when they
6:23 am
were here. >> she got a tour of the new set. >> that's right. >> how was that? i did. >> yeah, so i got to see it all. it was beautiful. i mean, i had nothing to compare it to, but they told us that that building is where they shot some of the scenes from the wizard of oz, which i love. a good like, tv movie history. and then. yes, and then the set itself was huge compared to most sets. i mean, there's just a lot of space between vanna wall and then the wheel itself, and it was fun. i'm glad i got to see it. >> did you get to spin the wheel? because that's the first thing i would ask. >> oh of course. okay of course. >> yeah. i wanted to touch the wall. i wanted to spin the wheel. it was heavy. it was. it was just, like, in jeopardy. because i got to do the jeopardy clicker. and by do, i mean i messed up a lot, and it hurt me in the game, i'm glad i got this little touch, because what if i ever get a chance to play wheel of fortune? now i'm going to no claim it. >> yeah. >> then that gives you a little bit of an advantage. i need to know also. >> yes. and next time it's price
6:24 am
of right. i need to know this. like, do we have to hang on it? like, how much for the wheel? they're heavy. >> is that so? >> i will do that investigation at some point. >> okay. interesting. and the touch wall, was that what you expected? >> yeah. and you know what? vanna's job is very similar in that way where she, like, sits behind this wall on a cold set, just like i do waiting between the breaks. and i said, wow, we have a lot in common. is it a folding chair? have lasers that, like, grab my hand, but. well, yeah, it was just like a chair. like i sit in, like it could be anywhere. yeah, yeah. she has mixed nuts back there. >> these are the details i want to hear. i want to hear that she's in just a regular chair. and that is just mixed nuts. it's not as glamorous as you think. yeah. okay. >> good. not even close. like behind my wall? nope it isn't either. >> no, no, no, we know now we know. >> ginger, better in as little as 2 weeks. and when you can breathe better, what isn't better? this is better. this is better. that's better. and that.
6:25 am
even this. dupixent is an add-on treatment for specific types of moderate-to-severe asthma. it works with your asthma medicine to help improve lung function. that's pretty good! dupixent is not for sudden breathing problems. it's proven to help prevent asthma attacks. it can reduce or even eliminate oral steroids. and doesn't that make things better? dupixent can cause allergic reactions that can be severe. tell your doctor right away if you have rash, chest pain, worsening shortness of breath, tingling or numbness in your limbs. tell your doctor about new or worsening joint aches and pain or a parasitic infection. don't change or stop asthma medicines including steroids, without talking to your doctor. when you can get more out of your lungs, you can du more with less asthma. and isn't that better? ask your doctor about dupixent, the most prescribed biologic in asthma.
