face in their first debate. as polls show the race is a dead heat. >> then, multiple fast moving wildfires leaving parts of the state on edge. thousands of acres burned and some evacuation orders in effect. >> and an emotional start to the 40 niners season. ricky pearsall meets the first responders who saved him on the field before the team's big win. >> it is a wonderful moment to watch. good morning. it is tuesday, september 10th. >> we're starting with a check of our forecast with spencer. >> yeah, it's getting a little breezy outside this morning. i don't know if you noticed how cool it is, but i like that because we had enough heat last week. right now we've got gusts up to over 30mph at rio vista. so the strongest gusts are over in the delta area right now, but farther inland. but we'll be feeling those increasing winds over the next couple of days. just about everywhere. right now we're looking at temperature readings of 58 degrees in san francisco and san mateo across the bay, low 60s at oakland and hayward down to the south, bay, 61 at san jose. we've got upper 50s to near 60 in most of our inland east bay locations, and mid 50s for the most part up in

>> thanks, amanda. we're going to take a live look right now at philadelphia this morning, where the stage is set for tonight's presidential debate. the abc news debate will be the first, and maybe the only time vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump face off before election day. vice president harris landed in philly last night. former president trump is set to arrive sometime today, with polls still showing a tight race. tonight's debate could have a major impact. >> those undecideds, it might. it's a marginal group. it's a it's a small group. but you know, this election is going to be a marginal election. it's going to be decided by a small amount of votes. >> both candidates are going in with significant new endorsements. vice president harris is being endorsed by members of the cheney family, who are longtime and staunch republicans, and donald trump from the national fraternal order of police. vice president harris says she expects trump to lie and revert to personal attacks, so she's preparing to respond to that. trump is not preparing with mock debates. instead, he's holding informal

with the first responders who helped save his life. and happening today, the teen suspect accused of shooting pearsall is due to face a judge again. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us live at levi stadium, where pearsall made his first public appearance last night since the shooting. good morning. >> he did reggie good morning. and he looked good. he was in great spirits this morning. the niners are celebrating a commanding win after an incredible game yesterday. but the real spotlight last night was on an officer and a surgeon on the football field. check out this footage. right here is a very touching moment as 40 niners rookie wide receiver ricky pearsall reunited with two women who helped save his life just over a week ago. we're talking about doctor lucy kornblith, a surgeon at san francisco general hospital, and sergeant joel harrell, the officer who heard the shots and ran to help. near union square. harrell, a longtime officer who

right now, there's one thing on many fans minds could the team get another chance at the super bowl? >> it's super bowl or bust. >> i think so too. >> is there anything that worries you about the 40 niners or any of this season at all? nope. >> i have faith. honestly nothing. >> nothing good about this season. >> the faithful are staying open minded. the niners play the next game against the vikings on the road in minnesota on sunday. >> the justice department says it's uncovered a plot to incite a race war. amanda. authorities have arrested suspects allegedly part of the white supremacist group plotting these attacks. reggie aqui. >> a federal indictment claims one man from california and another from idaho are the leaders of a white supremacist group looking to ignite that race war. 34 year old dallas humber of elk grove and 37 year old matthew allison face more than a dozen federal charges. those charges are related to a chat group on the social media

platform telegram. telegram has been criticized for what has been described as its relaxed approach to content moderation. the group, which refers to itself as terror graham, allegedly directed its members to commit hate crimes against black and jewish people, immigrants and members of the lgbtq plus community. the indictment also claims the group plotted to kill high value targets, including a u.s. senator, and incited followers to carry out terror attacks around the world. >> the chilling part is that some of these attacks, according to the justice department, have already been carried out, including a man in slovenia who killed two people before taking his own life. a man in turkey who stabbed five people, and a new jersey teen who the fbi says plotted to attack the power grid. >> the indictment claims humber posted pictures of the 2016 pulse nightclub shooting in florida as an example of what members could carry out. the two suspects are in custody awaiting a court date. back to you at the

desk. >> thanks, amanda. happening tonight. the berkeley city council is set to vote on what could be a more aggressive approach to homeless encampments. documents show the resolution would allow the city to enforce arrests and cite people at camps deemed a fire hazard or health hazard. the rules would also be enforced on camps that are in the way of construction projects, or in roadways or near traffic. opponents of the proposal are planning to protest at the meeting tonight. they posted on social media they disagree with what they say is the criminalization of homeless people. >> let's take a look at our weather conditions right now. the skies are getting a little bit brighter. still some mist hanging around. current temperature readings are starting in san francisco. 59 degrees. low 60s right now at oakland, hayward, san jose, redwood city and 59 at half moon bay. here's the view from the rooftop camera looking across the embarcadero. 54 degrees right now at both santa rosa and petaluma. napa 57. fairfield 56. 68. concord and 59 degrees at livermore. and these are the forecast headlines. breezy to

get into that this morning. fire crews in southern california are battling multiple wildfires amid a brutal heat wave. more than 5400 acres burned in orange county's trabuco canyon in a fire that just sparked yesterday. in fact, public works crews started that fire by accident. they were trying to prevent access to dangerously dry brush. 1400 homes were evacuated, and in san bernardino county, thousands are still under evacuation because of the line fire and more are prepared to leave after seeing flames and the air gets bad. >> we're probably going to head down. hopefully it will just burn up the ridge and our little community will be free from flames that are nearby. >> big bear valley is under evacuation warnings due to the fire. it's spread to more than 23,000 acres. again in scorching temperatures, 36,000 structures are threatened, but no homes have burned in the north bay. some evacuation orders have been scaled back to warnings. now,

this is in neighborhoods near the boyles fire after about 4000 people were told to leave sunday. it's burned 81 acres in lake county. crews are gaining some control. the blaze is now at 40% containment. firefighters say more than 30 homes were lost and about 40 to 60 vehicles destroyed. rescue crews are searching the burn area for all the missing pets and posting those that they have found. clearlake animal control has reunited some families thanks to microchips and they, of course, are hoping for many more. a fire burning just across the state line near reno is causing poor air quality across the sierra. a mandatory evacuations and concerns. those conditions are about to get worse. >> reggie, a red flag warning is in effect today and tomorrow, raising the fire danger even higher. nevada's governor declared a state of emergency yesterday to bring more resources to help fight the davis fire. the fire is burning out of control just south of reno, between davis creek regional park and the mount rose ski lodge. so far, 5000 acres

have burned and 14 buildings have been destroyed. the national guard says it has three helicopters in the air. in nevada, guardsmen captured a video that should be coming up. oh, he did of a black hawk chopper performing a water bucket drop over the weekend. that's what we're looking at right now. and then we do want to go back to that video of at least a dozen horses trying to escape the flames in southern reno. there are power outages in that area, and up to 14,000 people are under evacuation orders. >> the flames crested the hill back over there. so we said, okay, let's get out of here before they you know, actually come and just force us out. >> tonight, fire officials will hold a community meeting at a local reno middle school. back to you at the desk. >> thanks, amanda. you can keep track of the wildfires across the state with our interactive wildfire tracker. just head to abc seven news.com/fire map. the bluegrass music festival, held

each year in tahoe, has been canceled for 2025. organizers are blaming the rising costs of doing business in northern california. winter wonder grass tahoe will take a year off. organizers say they hope to return after a year of review and reorganization. the festival has been a favorite for a decade, drawing bluegrass fans to the palisades tahoe ski resort. the 2025 event would have run april 4th through april 6th. >> last week we told you about burdell, the restaurant in oakland named food and wines restaurant of the year. now, two other bay area spots among the 20 best new restaurants in the country, according to bon appetit. four kings in san francisco's chinatown opened earlier this year. it serves cantonese food with a flair of izakaya style dining that promotes sharing small plates. the other restaurant is popoca in oakland, which opened last august. it serves salvadoran food and the food there is cooked on an outdoor herb, which

restaurant earlier in the day, and made comments about suicidal ideations. mayor matt mehan praised the officer's quick actions that may have saved lives. >> we're following the story about confusion and frustration for seniors months after they were displaced by a fire at their apartment complex in san francisco's japantown. the fire happened on may 10th and forced more than 50 seniors to find new housing, many temporarily relocated to an extended stay building in alameda, but last week some residents were given a letter saying restoration work was done and they needed to move back in two days. many residents were confused, partially because of the language barrier. >> in two days, like it's impossible for them to move back. i feel worried and concerned. >> we need time. >> even if they move in, it's really hard to live under these conditions, under that management. >> management tells abc seven news they apologized and promised more communication in different languages going forward. they hope the

thousands of dollars. a man is at the live desk with how the owner is responding to this brazen bird napping. >> kumasi, the owner of feathered follies in concord, says someone broke in and stole her beloved pet bird, tofu. now, tofu has lived there since 2010 and is worth an estimated $2,500. in addition to taking tofu, the thief or thieves took another pet bird, plato, who was being boarded at the store. mercedes kemp tells us, whoever did this broke a window and went straight to the room where the birds were. she showed us what she believes is a handprint on tofu's cage and a bloodied feather on the ground. she thinks someone familiar with how to handle birds is behind the theft. >> i truly hope that it's just as simple as someone wanted him and has him, or that they want to sell him and flip him. if anything happened to him permanently. i don't know how i'd cope with that. >> kemp has started a gofundme to help raise money to offer as a reward for anyone who is able to get the birds back. she says

she is working with the concord police department to bring both birds home. back to you at the desk. >> amanda. thank you. new developments regarding the controversial bike lane running down the center of valencia street in san francisco. the redesign is now in its final stages. we've been following this story for months. business owners have been complaining that the current setup made parking for customers and deliveries nearly impossible, and was devastating their businesses. sfmta has been coordinating with them to reconfigure the street to make that happen. each business owner with a parklet has to make a choice. either they keep the parklet next to the sidewalk with the bike lane closer to cars, or they're going to need to push that parklet out and allow the bike lane to run next to the curb. if they choose that option, it would mean the parklet will take up space that could be used for parking. >> that has been one of the big question marks that we needed to get answered. so currently there are 26 parklets on this eight block stretch on valencia and 20
