>> a bomb threat came into the tamalpais union high school district headquarters this morning. the threat wasn't specific, so officials and police chose to close all five high school campuses in the district as a precaution. >> abc seven news reporter cornell bernard has the story from marin county. >> i got up this morning and i got dressed, and i looked at my phone and i got a text. >> redwood high school freshman noah gurvich says the message was from the district superintendent saying school was closed friday due to a threat of violence. and please remain home. >> i mean, it's kind of scary that, like, someone would do that. >> it was a bomb threat which came into district headquarters but did not specify a target site. in a statement, the superintendent said school administration immediately evacuated all buildings on all five district campuses and contacted local law enforcement to secure all sites. tam high, redwood high, archie williams and two other campuses were closed and searched by police, so out of an abundance of

caution, we worked with the school district and made the determination that we were going to shut down the schools for the safety of all the kids, and we are starting our investigation into the credibility of that threat. police can't say where the threat of violence came from. possible students calling in a threat. >> i have no idea at this point. we're just following up on some leads. >> noah's dad, leo, told us by phone that he believes canceling school was the right call. you know, you can never be too safe at this point. >> i mean, with all the school violence is going around the country. i mean, we live in a very safe community, and certainly i wouldn't want it to change. >> by afternoon, the district sent a message home to parents saying after police sweeps all schools had been declared safe. weekend activities will go on as planned in marin county. cornell bernard abc seven news. >> and while the fbi was helping central marin police investigate that threat, they found another one. a san anselmo girl threatened a school shooting

today in a social media post. the 15 year old has been arrested. although the girl attended school in the tamalpais union high school district, police say the incident is not related to the threat that closed all those schools. >> turning now to election coverage. donald trump is on his way to las vegas right now, and this is a live picture of the campaign rally. he will be headlining. it's been a busy day for the republican presidential nominee on a rare west coast visit just before 6:00 this evening, right before we came on the air, trump's campaign plane departed san francisco international airport. following a quick and lucrative stop on the peninsula. bay area supporters were eager to see the former president in town. >> abc seven news reporter dustin dorsey spoke with some of them and has our story from woodside. hey love. >> california was in the election spotlight friday as former president donald trump spent time in the golden state for fundraisers in los angeles and the bay area. he landed at sfo just after 130 friday, made

his way to woodside around 330 and left about an hour and a half later. dozens of his supporters lined streets in the areas leading up to the quick visit. >> californians are here to support trump. there are a lot of people here in california that do, do, do believe in trump's values, do believe in his policies, and that we are here to support him. >> support heard loud and proud. after mr. trump arrived friday afternoon after the last debate here on abc, polls across the country are tightening up between trump and vice president kamala harris. here in palo alto, it was obvious which way this group was voting. woodside is once again home to an important campaign fundraiser. the l.a. times reports the location is the home of tom and stacey siebel, distant relatives of governor gavin newsom's wife, jennifer siebel newsom. this is trump's second visit to the bay area this summer. politicians know this is where the election money is at, as major campaign events are no stranger to woodside. trump supporters hope the money earned here will make a difference in the economy of the nation. should the former president be reelected.

now, and you'll have one place for all the latest information as we get closer to election da. >> just as one problem is resolved, another has surfaced. the orange line is delayed in both directions with limited service between the hayward and berryessa stations. bart says there is an equipment issue on the tracks. that's the same kind of issue that shut down two east bay bart stations on the green line this afternoon the south hayward and union city stations were temporarily closed. those stations have since reopened, and service on the green line is recovering. in san francisco. the powell street bart station entrance at market and fifth streets is also back open, hours after police shot and injured an armed man earlier today. abc seven news reporter louis pena was there and spoke to witnesses. she joins us live from the newsroom. louis >> yes, emma. this happened around 10:15 a.m. in the heart of san francisco's shopping area on market street. i spoke to several witnesses who were working in the area and said they heard anywhere between 7 to 9 gunshots. we also obtained a video from a witness who caught

the suspect walking as police officers chased him. >> there's a suspect in the liquor store taking cover behind a wall. >> a san francisco resident whose social media name is frisco live 415, caught the moment sfpd officers surrounded the gmg liquor store on fifth street, demanding for a man believed to be armed to come out. >> this is the real deal. i got way too close to that incident, guys. >> seconds later, the suspect, wearing a mask, can be seen walking out of the liquor store, putting something in his waist and casually crossing the street while sfpd officers pointed their guns at him. earl jackson, with urban alchemy, was in the alley after they ordered him to come out. >> i saw the gentleman walking who i believe the suspect was walking across the street here, and then the officers were falling with their guns drawn, and they pursued him down the street and around the corner. >> video shows the suspect walking towards the bart powell station with multiple officers demanding for him to stop. employees and a customer inside a starbucks coffee store that

connects to the bart area saw the suspect. >> the guy was trying to jump to the bart entrance to get in there, and then i saw he has a gun on his right hand, and then the cop was already chasing him down from somewhere. >> as officers chased him down frisco live 4-1-1 five caught the sound of multiple gunshots below. oh my god locked the doors as gunshots rang out, trying to protect everyone inside the store. >> there was one customer in the store, so i'm like, get her out behind the counter. i don't care if she a customer or who she is, but get her back here on the street level. >> tourists waiting for the cable car ran for cover. hours later, sfpd confirming officers first made contact with the suspect after noticing he was armed inside. what is to believe? a stolen vehicle leading to this pursuit. >> they observed this armed person because of proactive

police work, and they took the appropriate action in terms of engaging with this person. >> sfpd chief bill scott confirmed officers recovered the suspect's gun at the scene. the suspect was taken to the hospital and is in fair condition. sfpd is expected to hold a town hall on this shooting within ten days of the incident in the newsroom. louis pena, abc seven news. thank you. >> louis. we're following the story of a deadly road rage shooting in orinda that happened yesterday. today, the victim has been identified. investigators say 50 year old scott decker died at the shooting scene. he was a resident of truckee and orinda. the shooting happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of las vegas road and la spiral road. decker was reportedly driving a toyota forerunner when a man driving a tesla shot him. the contra costa county sheriff's office says that man was detained, but he has since been released. investigators have not said what led up to that shooting, or if any charges will be filed.

of the fires is the bridge fire in san bernardino county. the fire has grown to more than 52,000 acres and is only 3% contained. thousands of people in san bernardino and los angeles counties are under evacuation orders. you can see the devastation left behind here. crews were able to make some progress thanks to increased humidity and lower temperatures. just east of that, the line fire has burned more than 38,000 acres. some evacuation warnings were lifted this afternoon near the community of baldwin lake, but the danger is far from over there. more than 65,000 structures are still being threatened by the flames. crews are expected to make some progress this weekend as thankfully cooler temperatures will continue. the line fire is only 25% contained, and we're also keeping a close eye on the davis fire that went south of reno. the fire is burning in an area with heavy timber and brush, as you see in the video here. the fire has scorched 5800

acres and is 37% contained. and you can keep track of wildfires across the state with our interactive wildfire tracker. you can find it on abc seven news.com/fire map. and wildfires are, of course, contributing to california's insurance crisis. >> many companies now refuse to write policies. they are dropping customers and raising rates. >> unfortunately, a familiar story here in california. reporter carlos granda, from our sister station in los angeles, has a look at the impact of these recent fires. >> pretty much every house in a row up until mine is gone. >> rick paige lives in el cariso village in lake elsinore, but can't go back home just yet. his house survived the airport fire, while many of his neighbors did not. he worries what happens next with his homeowners insurance. >> a lot of people up there more than likely don't have insurance anyhow. they just can't afford it. >> three major wildfires have burned tens of thousands of acres so far, and because of these fires, some insurance

companies have instituted a moratorium on new policies for the time being, saying you can't write until further notice because obviously they don't want to be, you know, starting new policies when there's a fire burning next door. >> the good news so far is the number of structures destroyed is low. >> advocates such as consumer watchdog worry, however, that companies could still bring about higher rates in wildfire areas. the rate hikes by the way, are going to be really extreme in the wildfire areas because when a company gets a rate hike like state farm had a 20% rate hike recently. >> that's 20% average in the wildfire area could be 200%. >> the governor declared a state of emergency, and now the insurance commissioner has the power to protect homeowners in the fire zones from insurance cancellations and non renewals for one year if they wanted to raise the rates up high enough to where i couldn't afford it, i would have to relocate and dinger is hopeful the insurance market will stabilize. >> we've had some fire issues

that we could see some shower activity here late sunday night, but it's really monday. this is the high resolution model coming in now where we see those scattered showers. at least a chance of it. certainly sierra snow, but notice all the precip across the state. we will see the potential for some gusty winds accompanying this system as well as we take a look at the rainfall projections here locally. not a lot, just enough to dampen the ground, but it is looking more and more likely that we're going to see some precip out of this on monday, especially a few hundredths to about a 10th 15 hundredths of an inch. the winds do pick up starting on sunday, 25 to 35 miles an hour, and they just get gustier throughout the day. so if you have any loose objects, you'll want to definitely tie those down in the sierra we are talking about a winter weather advisory sunday night to monday evening. we're up to four inches gusty winds and the snow level will be about 8000ft. accuweather seven day forecast tomorrow is cooler and breezy. emmy awards are right here on abc seven and it's going to be

nasdaq and the s&p were in positive territory. the closing bell the dow gained nearly 300 points. the nasdaq was up 114. the s&p added 30. the gender pay gap is growing for the first time in 20 years. last year, women made nearly $0.83 for every dollar a man made, according to the u.s. census bureau. that's about a penny less than in 2022. it's the first statistically significant widening of the gender pay gap since 2003. men's earnings rose nearly 3% last year, compared to 1.5% for women. okay, let's talk about some gas prices now. >> got a mix of good and bad news here depending on where you're looking. let's start with the good news nationwide prices are dropping. triple a says the national average is down to 3.23. but you know how it goes here in california, it's rising up to 4.76. now that's $0.10 higher than just a week ago. napa has the most expensive gas in the entire state. they're looking at 5.23 a gallon. >> tens of thousands of boeing workers walked off the job

and this is about fighting for our future. >> but workers demanding more 40% over three years and a return to pensions instead of 401 k contributions. the whole contract is unfair. >> they're taking too much away from us without giving us anything. >> i kind of, after the last losing our pension, i'm not sure there's at least me personally. there's a lot of trust there with that, with the union. >> boeing officials warning a strike will be a blow to the already struggling company, which in recent years suffered two fatal plane crashes. a door panel flying off a plane mid-flight and a problem plagued spacecraft that was forced to leave two astronauts behind at the international space station. >> this could have impact in the millions, maybe tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. if this is a long lasting strike. certainly, the value of the aircraft that boeing may not be able to deliver would be enormous. >> now, the strike is not expected to cause flight cancellations, but it would halt production of its best selling planes. and depending on how long all of this lasts, it could cost the u.s. economy tens of

billions of dollars. morgan norwood, abc news, new york. >> music superstar justin timberlake pleaded guilty today to a charge of driving while impaired. there was a ton of media outside of the courthouse in sag harbor, new york, when timberlake arrived this morning. he can barely walk there. he was arrested back in june. police said. after leaving a bar, he failed to stop at a stop sign and then failed a field sobriety test. the judge today ordered timberlake to make a public safety announcement, so he addressed the media. after leaving the courtroom. >> this is a mistake that i mad, but i'm hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. i know that i certainly have, and like i said, even one drink. don't get behind the wheel of a car. >> well, that was the psa. now the sentencing. the judge also sentenced timberlake to 25 hours of community service and a $500 fine.

satellite view from space. plant life is blooming after an unusual weather pattern brought some really heavy rain there. portions of the sahara desert are anywhere from twice as wet to more than six times wetter than usual. scientists say a warming world due to fossil fuel pollution will make this more likely in the future. normally, the north african desert is considered to be the world's hottest and driest. >> wow. that is incredible. well, the united states is in the midst of both hurricane and wildfire seasons, and right now there are probably a lot of homeowners crossing their fingers hoping mother nature will spare them physically and financially. >> reporter lee waldman finds many feel they're unprepared. >> extreme weather is becoming all too common as our climate issues. it's putting homeowners in a tough spot. a new survey

out this week found that a quarter of homeowners in the u.s. feel unprepared. should the worst happen. as hurricane francine slams the gulf coast and wildfires rage in the west. 26% of homeowners surveyed by bankrate say they are not financially ready for a natural disaster. >> a lot of insurance companies are starting to exclude certain perils that we're used to having covered. shannon martin, a bank rate analyst who specializes in insurance, says homeowners in the south and west are most likely to feel unprepared to shoulder the financial burden of extreme weather. those homeowners feel a little bit more unprepared because they know kind of what they're heading into. >> and while the majority of homeowners surveyed do have insurance, they do not necessarily know if they have adequate coverage, what type of repairs and updates do we need to make to this home to make it more insurable? >> invest in upgrading your roof. if you live somewhere where there's wildfire, it really can be as simple as making sure the area around your
