pockets of drizzle can be found in the santa cruz mountains. we are seeing some gusty winds as well. this is all just because low pressure is swirling overhead. and that is also bringing us some cool weather. this morning we're starting out with temperatures mainly in the 50s. but look at these winds right now in areas between 15 and 30mph. the strongest winds are occurring right now. the winds will back off as we head into the afternoon numbers. right now we are starting out with pretty uniform temperatures basically in the mid and upper 50s. as we get you going on this monday looking at our inland forecast. these temperatures today certainly below average maxing out in the low and mid 70s. and our warmest cities. lots of clouds this morning inland. some sunshine this afternoon. but those clouds really rule the forecast the next several hours. looking at the bay shoreline we do have some breezy conditions. it is cloudy out there by the afternoon, upper 60s to the lower 70s. that's about it. and then along the coast right now it's cloudy. some pockets of drizzle, some sunshine this afternoon, but not a lot. highs in the low 60s. let's check in with frances. see those drive

year old ryan routh, saying he was able to get within 500 yards of trump before a secret service agent spotted him. shots were fired by the agent. it's unclear if routh fired any shots. trump was rushed to safety and was not injured. the former president's golf plans were not publicized in any way, and sources tell abc news going to the course was a last minute decision. the palm beach sheriff, palm beach sheriff, i should say, says security wasn't stationed around the perimeter of the course since mr. trump is no longer president. >> i would imagine that the next time he comes at a golf course, there will probably be a little bit more people around the perimeter. >> trump issued a statement shortly after saying, quote, i will never give up. i will never surrender. president biden and vice president harris both issued statements condemning the violence. and early this morning, former democratic congressmember and current san mateo county supervisor elect jackie speier posted on social

media, saying, quote, i am sickened by the second assassination attempt against former president trump. i'm grateful he is safe. he needs to speak out against violence, stop spewing hate against swift and others, and tamp down his rhetoric on false comments about haitians legally here in the u.s. as for the motive here, the fbi is looking into whether routh had grievances about trump's position on the war in ukraine. trump is expected back on the campaign trail tomorrow when he is scheduled to hold a town hall in michigan, and we're certain to learn a lot more about this in the coming days. our coverage of the second attempted assassination of former president donald trump is being constantly updated on our apps, and abc seven news.com. >> new developments now into the future of san francisco schools. sf unified pushing back on an announcement about potential closures. that's not going to happen now until next month. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us. gloria, what's the district saying?

>> good morning. reggie. well, parents were expecting the list of school closures to come out on wednesday. now, the district is saying it will not be released until next month. yesterday, san francisco unified district superintendent matt wayne released a message about the reason for the delay. he says that they want to make sure they get it right, adding the process of closing and merging schools is complicated, and i want to make sure we've looked at it from every angle, including how after school care, grant funding and transportation will be affected. and he says the rest of the timeline is still relatively consistent and says the board of education will vote on the package of school closures in december and that the changes will take place next fall. meredith dodson represents the san francisco parent coalition, a group of more than 1000 sfusd parents. >> there's a lot of families with anxiety around, oh, my schools under-enrolled my school is going to be on the list and just kind of anticipating this date. and now all of a sudden the state is getting pushed back and the timeline is a little unclear and people don't know

exactly why. and so there's, you know, families are rightfully concerned and upset that you know, wondering what's going on. >> some parents abc seven talked to say the delay is frustrating and that parents and students need time to prepare for the changes. abc seven reached out to the district for more comment, but had not heard back as of late last night. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> shifting weather is giving firefighters an edge as they battle multiple large wildfires scorching southern california. this intense firefight is heading into its second week. crews are making progress. the airport fire has burned 115 homes, so far and spread to more than 23,500 acres in orange and riverside counties. it's currently 19% contained several evacuation orders and warnings are still in place. a similar situation with the bridge fire in los angeles and san bernardino counties. more than 54,000 acres burned there with

just 9% containment. two people have been hurt in that fire. the lion fire in san bernardino county has scorched nearly 39,000 acres. more evacuations are in place there. thousands of firefighters are out battling each of these wildfires. a lost dog found on the fire lines is capturing the hearts of firefighters. crews found him wandering around the lion fire incident command center in san bernardino county. cal fire says he's gentle and has been befriending every firefighter he meets, kissing and snuggling his way into their hearts. firefighters took him into a shelter. they are hoping to find his family. >> new this morning, salesforce is giving $23 million in grants to help schools teach ai. these grants will support high schools and middle schools across the country, including san francisco and oakland. salesforce says they want to give every student the opportunity to develop the skills needed for success in an ai driven future. now that

donation comes as tens of thousands of people are about to descend on san francisco for salesforce's annual conference, of course, known as dreamforce. the event officially kicks off tomorrow. preparations have been going on around moscone center for a week now. if you've been in the area, you've probably seen the signs warning about street closures or the freshly washed sidewalks. but it's not just the city preparing local businesses are looking forward to the potential business from 45,000 conference attendees. >> conventions. you know, downtown has been decimated since the kind of stay at home since the pandemic. a lot of those those companies haven't forced people to come back to work. so for us getting to capture, you know, these clients and really kind of earn some revenue that we've lost. >> the economic impact of the conference is expected to be nearly $93 million. one highlight will be the dream fest fundraising concert on wednesday, with pink and imagine dragons headlining. even if you

him. volaris has not responded to the incident yet, but they did have a similar issue last year when a flight was delayed two hours due to a mosquito infestation. yikes. at the live desk now, i'm keeping an eye on a big day for tiktok. lawyers for tiktok are set to go to court today to argue a law that could lead to a ban on the app is unconstitutional. president biden signed that law less than five months ago, giving tiktok's parent company bytedance until january to sell its u.s. operations or face a ban. it's because bytedance is a chinese company, and there are concerns the chinese government could gain access to the information of u.s. citizens. bytedance says the law violates free speech rights in the u.s, and it's worth pointing out that despite the justice department calling the app a national security threat, the campaign of both former president donald trump and vice president harris are quite active on tiktok. >> you see both campaigns on their uh, regardless of how they

even feel about tiktok, tiktok's future uh- they're using it now, they want to reach young people. >> bytedance says even if it finds a buyer, a sale won't happen by the deadline. congress is set. tiktok currently has more than 170 million users, and it's one of the most popular social media apps around. back to you. >> nevada police are investigating a suspicious fire and vandalism at college of marin. this happened at the indian valley campus. fire crews responded to that alarm saturday morning. they found a small wildfire burning in the hills behind the school softball field. there were also several broken windows around multiple buildings. investigators say they saw a man walking away from the scene. he was detained after police searched the area in the east bay. students attending cal's game against san diego state got admonished by the bears head coach. students were throwing cards used during halftime onto the field, and those actions cost the team two penalties. >> no fans. we love you. >> stop throwing the cards on

director of the secret service has arrived at trump international club in florida ahead of a briefing with the former president today. the fbi is investigating the incident. yesterday, as trump was golfing, authorities detained a man they say had a gun pointing toward the course. as trump was making his way along the holes when the suspect got spotted by an agent, the suspect took off. he was later arrested in a neighboring county. >> the threat level is high. uh- we have increased the amount of assets that we've supported. so we are, we live in danger times. >> the former president issuing a statement saying, quote, my resolve is only stronger after another attempt on my life. i will never slow down. i will never give up. unlike the shooting at trump's rally in july, his presence at the golf course yesterday wasn't planned or announced ahead of time. security around the golf course was not more intense because trump is no longer president.

>> new developments this morning. san francisco unified schools are now delaying an announcement about which schools could close. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us live. and gloria, the district continues to struggle with budget and money problems. >> it does. and the district says it's closing some schools because of declining enrollment. and now some parents will have to wait longer to know which schools. the san francisco unified school district superintendent says they want to make sure they get it right. sfusd parents were expecting the list of school closures to come out this wednesday. well, now the district is saying it will not be released until next month. yesterday superintendent matt wayne released a message about the reason for the delay, including that this ensures that number one, our fiscal analysis is strong and our transition plan and support systems are in place. number two, data from the equity audit is integrated into the recommendation. and number three, we meaningfully consult with city school and community

to the district for further comment, but had not heard back as of late last night. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> the city of oakland is suing oakland unified school district. the city claims ousd has not paid its share of costs for school board elections in more than 15 years. according to the lawsuit, the issue has been going on since 2008. the city didn't notice until last year. that's when they asked usd to cover about a million and a half dollars from elections dating back to 2020. the district's board president tells the chronicle the district doesn't believe it's responsible for this. this lawsuit comes as both the city and ousd face multimillion dollar budget deficits. happening tomorrow, sfmta will consider a proposal to ban rvs from parking overnight on city managed streets. it's the city's latest attempt to encourage more people to seek out permanent housing options. the ban would prohibit rvs and oversize vehicles from parking on city managed streets from midnight to 6 a.m. it would

also allow sfmta to tow vehicles in violation, but only after offering shelter. not everyone agrees with how officials are handling this. >> there's a large number of people, because of rising rents that are san franciscans who are living in rvs. many of them are families. >> the city has one designated safe parking site, but it lacks resources to support the growing rv community. advocates for the unhoused say the city should open more safe parking zones. the proposal still needs to pass a vote with the sfmta. sfmta board of directors. before that would take effect. a retail burglary crew now faces charges for stealing six figures worth of items from stores in the bay area. san francisco police say the crew stole items from stores in san francisco and san mateo counties. they took merchandise with an estimated value of up to $100,000. police arrested two people thursday at serramonte center in daly city. the other two suspects drove away but were arrested later near 16th and

bryant streets in san francisco. officers found a gun and stolen merchandise in the car. >> at the live desk right now, i'm tracking the situation in springfield, ohio. that's the city that's been targeted by bomb threats following baseless claims being made about immigrants by former president donald trump and other republicans. now two local colleges have closed their campuses as a precaution. and classes, they're going virtual. both say they received emails making threats of a bomb and potential shooting on campus. a spokesperson for springfield says the bomb threats have also targeted the mayor's house and city hall. city and state officials say there is no evidence to show the claims being made. are true. >> i think these discussions about haitians eating dogs and cats and other things needs to stop. >> mike dewine says there are challenges, including housing and health care, with the number of immigrants moving to springfield, but that they're

there legally and want to work. meanwhile, trump reportedly plans to visit springfield, ohi, soon. back to you. >> reggie, the presidential race is turning to the issue of in vitro fertilization, where members of both parties are calling for legislative action on the issue. in june, legislation which guaranteed access to the treatment stalled by a vote of 48 to 47, with two gop senators crossing the aisle. senate majority leader chuck schumer says a second vote on an in vitro fertilization bill is coming soon. this comes as multiple house republicans told cnn they are pushing house speaker mike johnson to hold a legislative vote, backing ivf ahead of the 2024 elections. as for former he supports ivf. >> he supports fertility treatments. he supports all as he supports exceptions for life and health of the mother for rape and incest. so his position is the moderate position on this one. and yet i know that conservatives still support him.
