it's a little humid out there. we're basically in the upper seconds to the lower 60s right now. so looking at the inland forecast you will notice a lot of cloud cover today. upper 60s to lower 70s for daytime highs. it will be a gray afternoon and below average when it comes to our temperatures now around the bay shoreline. you see these increase in these percentages. that just means we have a good chance later on. this morning into the early afternoon of finding that drizzle. mostly cloudy and highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. and it's a similar story along the coast. pockets of drizzle throughout the day and highs barely in the low 60s. let's check in with amanda. see those drive times? >> yeah. good morning drew. our overall map reflecting a quiet, clear and calm commute across the bay area. of course, this is minus that typical slowdown along the altamont pass. but we do have a trouble spot. if i take you into hayward here. westbound 92 before the toll plaza of the san mateo bridge, there is a big rig crash. we're told it's blocking four lanes there right now, though. no delays, but we'll have to keep an eye on it. certainly. then to

our south beach cam taking a live look at everything kind of moving at the limit, which is great, especially on the upper deck into the city. then we'll go to the golden gate bridge. a fog advisory has been issued for the golden gate bridge, but no issues as people get into or out of the city, and it doesn't look like there are any cars on the road right now. back to the desk. >> thanks, amanda. happening today? it is day two of what's being called the largest artificial intelligence conference in the world. talking about dreamforce taking over downtown san francisco, abc7 news reporter gloria rodriguez is there. and gloria. opening day included an appearance by the governor. >> reporter it did. reggie and of course, dreamforce is salesforce's annual tech conference. some 45,000 people are attending in person. and artificial intelligence is the hot topic. the governor honed in on that. yesterday, governor newsom and salesforce ceo marc benioff took the stage yesterday for a one on one interview. nearly 20 minutes in. and then this moment when the conversation centered on ai regulations and the 30 plus

claimed responsibility, but an abc news source says israel was working to coordinate what's called a supply chain interdiction attack. former state department official steve ganyard explains how it may have worked. >> the israelis likely saw an opportunity, bought up thousands of pages, took them apart, inserted explosives and then put them back on the market to sell directly to hezbollah. and then using the radio frequencies that normally bring data into that pager, they simultaneously detonated all of the pagers. >> u.s. officials say they had no involvement in this attack and no warning. hezbollah stopped using cell phones earlier this year due to safety concerns. >> tomorrow, uc regents will vote on whether to approve requests for military equipment for campus police. the equipment includes drones, robots, pepper balls, projectile launchers, and sponge bullets. the requests are from several campuses, including uc berkeley, ucsf, and uc santa

cruz. a spokesperson for the uc president says the equipment consists of non-lethal alternatives that allow police to de-escalate situations. the vote will come months after pro-palestinian protesters clashed with uc police at multiple campuses. >> stanford is issuing new freedom of expression policies following those protests. the new rules prohibit unauthorized tents on campus and require students to remove face coverings if asked to by an official. similar rules were issued last year, but were ignored when students set up camps to protest the israel-hamas war. provost jenny martinez sent the campus a website that lays out the new rules, along with another website for students to report discrimination. >> we are following the ongoing drama between the oakland and san francisco airports. sfo is now petitioning a judge to immediately stop oakland's airport from using its new airport name, claiming it's confusing people. so here's a live look at our okay camera.

this morning, the official name is san francisco bay oakland international airport. and of course, it's the san francisco part that is causing so much frustration because that's sfo's name. abc seven news reporter luz pena tells us the latest legal action comes down to trademark. >> the battle between the san francisco airport and the oakland airport has now reached new heights. san francisco's city attorney david chu, now filing a motion asking a judge to immediately stop oakland's airport from using its new name, saying it's creating confusion. >> sfo conducted a survey that demonstrated confusion levels over 20%. >> earlier this year, the port of oakland changed the airport's name to san francisco bay oakland international airport. chu's motion breaks down multiple incidents where people reported landing in oakland surprised they were not at san francisco international airport. san francisco has already filed a lawsuit in federal court to

stop oakland's name change, but the preliminary injunction would create an immediate effect. >> we've tried to reason with oakland officials to avoid this very step, to come up with alternative names that could work for all of us, and we even agreed on mediation. but unfortunately, nothing came out of that mediation. >> back in april, oakland's board of port of commissioners explained their stance. nobody owns the san francisco bay. >> the port operates and is the steward for 20 miles of land along the san francisco bay. >> the name change was approved april 11th by the port of oakland commissioners. what didn't change was a three letter code, oq, which travelers tell me they pay close attention to avoid mistakes. you're glad you didn't get confused. >> yes, yes, that would have been kind of a pity. >> in a statement, the port of oakland categorized san francisco's latest legal action as an attempt to stifle competition and travel choices by bay area residents and position sfo as the only airport

that serves the san francisco bay area. it is not an oak will continue to aggressively fight for its position on the san francisco bay. this east bay resident wishes the port of oakland would rethink the name change. >> born and raised in oakland, and i think it's a real slap in the face. >> in san francisco. luz pena abc seven news. >> and when loyal airport worker is retiring this special k-9 is named zamba. she's a seven year old german shorthaired pointer, and she's been at sfo sniffing for explosives for five years now. for her last day on the job, she was rewarded with this ball drop that zamba was adopted by her handler, jacob, and will enjoy the rest of her years living life and relaxing as a lap dog. jacob will be paired with another canine soon to get back on the job early next year. very sweet. >> take a look at the accuweather forecast. we are going to find a cloudy day today. we have pockets of

drizzle out there this morning across the city and along the coast. so in san francisco expect a cloudy day. some moisture, cool temperatures in the mid 60s. now oakland will have some morning drizzle, a little bit of afternoon sunshine, temperatures right around 70 for san jose and walnut creek. it's just a mostly cloudy day and highs right around 75 degrees. so looking at the morning forecast, sunshine is going to be very limited if any at all. over the next several hours. overcast skies pretty much all morning long. temperatures holding steady in the 60s. it's also a touch humid out there. you may notice that as well. a live look from the exploratorium camera. you can see that moisture kind of hanging in the atmosphere. it's not light rain by any means. it's more in the form of mist and drizzle. and this is the theme as we head throughout the morning hours. so expect a lot of cloud cover today for our inland forecast highs in the low and mid 70s around the bay shoreline, we have those pockets of drizzle throughout the morning. just a cloudy day with highs in the upper 60s. then along the coast, overcast skies

more than 600 units on the lot currently used for parking. at least 50% of those units must be affordable. berkeley also plans to develop another bart site across adeline street for use by the berkeley flea market and community organizations. construction could begin by 2026. in oakland, crews are cleaning up a homeless encampment under an overpass on mlk way between 20th and 25th streets. according to the city, the decision to close the encampment is due to a rise in crime in the area, including a double homicide at the encampment earlier this month. they say up to 30 people have been living there. outreach workers have been on site to help find shelter for those who want it. the cleanup is expected to last two weeks. >> in san francisco, people living in rvs and their supporters are pushing back against a proposed ban on overnight rv parking in parts of the city. many gathered during a rally to request that city officials abandoned the plan, which calls for rvs to be towed

if they are in violation. they say it will only make things worse for the unhoused. >> this ban will destroy the fragile stability at the center of the lives of hundreds of extremely vulnerable families. just because you live in an rv doesn't make you less. >> the rally happened ahead of yesterday's sfmta meeting. the proposed ban would prohibit rvs and oversize vehicles from parking on city streets from midnight to 6 a.m. it would also allow the city to tow vehicles violating the ban, but only offer shelter after offering shelter that is, the proposal still needs approval from sfmta's board of directors. san francisco mayor london breed says the city is working hard to address homelessness in the cit. >> so we're putting together the resources, but what we are doing now is just not letting things happen the way they used to, because now the capacity and the

laws are on our side and we're making it more people to just pitch a tent in our city anywhere. and we're making it harder for them to also be out on the streets, especially when we're offering them an alternative place to go. >> breed says those resources include help getting into shelters or addiction treatment programs. >> the r of the cliff house in san francisco has been delayed. according to the chronicle, crews working to repair the site have discovered major infrastructure issues since they began demolition months ago. the new operators, anticipating more than $10 million in repairs. the hope now is to reopen next year instead of this year as originally planned. the space will be occupied by a still to be announced food and beverage business. there's a new push to protect legacy businesses in san francisco. this is joe's ice cream, which has been serving scoops in the richmond district for nearly 65 years. supervisor aaron peskin, who is also running for mayor, says the building was recently purchased

by a real estate mogul from texas and is being targeted for redevelopment. peskin introduced legacy business protections to businesses in the city's fillmore district, and is now expanding these citywide. >> i firmly believe that san francisco can build the housing that it needs, can continue to grow and evolve without displacing the businesses that make each and every one of our neighborhoods so special. >> peskin and supervisor connie chen, who serves the richmond district, introduced the citywide protections during yesterday's board of supervisors meeting. no word on when the measure could be scheduled for a vote. >> starting today, all libraries in alameda county will offer. golden state warriors themed library cards. the warriors and the county will hold a pop up event today, where people can sign up for free and get all the warriors swag. it also celebrates national library card sign up month. the warriors organization recently announced

similar cards for the san jose system. today's pop up is happening at reach ashland youth center in san leandro at 3:00. and the warriors have announced their promotional schedule for the upcoming season, and the first will be a bobblehead honoring the one and only steph curry. it's an image fans know all too well. steph chewing on his mouth guard. you see there in honor of steph's first olympic gold medal, there will be 1500 gold painted bobbleheads included in the mix. the first 10,000 fans at the october 11th game against the kings will get the bobblehead. >> that's okay. >> i feel like there could be a few iconic poses. >> i know right? like night night night night night. >> that's very cool. back to library. library cards? yeah. big plus. yeah. especially across the city. you get so many resources out of them. if you get that library card, you can do, like online learning along with many other things and free access to many of the parks. i love it. get your library card.

that's awesome. fantastic. all right. outside this morning, the golden gate bridge is showing you. it is foggy out there. we have mist. we have drizzle. it is just going to be a damp morning for some of us. close to the coast, because an area of low pressure is spinning down the coast as we speak. we wanted to get you prepared for this. this morning. you may find some wet roadways. take it a little bit slower this morning. it's just cloudy and cool all day long. but tomorrow and friday we're going to turn the page on this weather forecast. it's sunnier. it's warmer. and as fall starts here on sunday, get ready for summer like heat coming our way. believe it or not. so here's a look at live doppler seven along with satellite. the center of the low right now off the coast of eureka. it's making its way into our direction. you notice a lot of cloud cover overhead, some moisture. we're mainly seeing that moisture in the form of mist and drizzle. and that's really the theme of the morning and into the early afternoon. it's not intense rainfall by any means, but you may find some damp roadways. so future weather showing you the bulk of the moisture is going to stay off of our coastline. we have so much

burning in orange and riverside counties, has now been burning for more than a week. on tuesday, the sf spca transported in cats and dogs from orange county shelters. hey babies! hey kids. >> we got the tails. >> you could hear tails wagging with joy and moellering is the chief of rescue and welfare. i, sweetheart with this effort. moellering said shelters in orange county can now free up space for pets directly displaced by the wildfire. >> right now, they have 837 animals, so they have over 300 more than they normally have. the local shelter needs to be empty, so we empty the local shelter and take those animals here to adopt them out so that the fire victims have somewhere to go. >> by working together between one region and another, this emergency operation is saving animals lives. some of the cats and dogs transported to the bay area otherwise would have been considered for euthanasia. >> it's critical the state of california is in the middle of a

the moisture is going to stay offshore, but we are going to see mist and drizzle throughout the morning and early afternoon. a closer look at live doppler seven. you can see some heavier showers off the coast. this is not going to move into our neck of the woods. this will stay off shore, but nonetheless we will see a pretty cloudy and cool day on the way. temperatures mainly in the 50s and low 60s right now, so let's take a look at our inland forecast. it's just an overcast day all day today. limited sunshine. highs below average once again will be in the low to mid 70s for the afternoon. now around the bay shoreline you see these percentages. that's a slight chance throughout the morning and early afternoon that will find those pockets of drizzle. just be aware of that. it's a cloudy day. it's humid out there and highs in the upper 60s to the near 70 degree mark along the coast. this is the best chance best area of seeing that moisture today. it's just a cloudy day and those highs in the low and mid 60s. let's check on the roads with amanda. this morning. good morning. >> good morning. we're going to start off with a look at mass transit. we do have some changes for caltrain riders. but i'll

start by telling bart and ac train uh- riders. why do you keep saying riders that they are okay this morning? here we go to caltrain though all trains will board on the northbound platform at 22nd street. train 105 is actually departing off track five. you can see there train 701 is departing off of track four. so just something to keep in mind. then i do want to tell you about that big rig truck crash that we've been following. this is on the san mateo bridge, westbound 92, before the toll plaza earlier this morning in the last 30 minutes, we know that it was blocking the four lanes there. however, we haven't seen any backup or delays because of it, so we'll continue to track that this morning. back to the desk, amanda. >> thank you. we're less than seven weeks now from election day. vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump both hitting critical swing states hoping to court undecided voters. trump appearing in michigan yesterday his first campaign event since that second assassination attempt. here's abc news reporter christiane cordero.

>> vice president kamala harris was back in philadelphia tuesday talking about the economy. harris touted the administration's accomplishments around job creation. moderators from nabj pressed harris on whether americans are better off than they were four years ago. >> we came in during the worst public health epidemic in centuries. we came in after the worst attack on our democracy since the civil war, and a lot of it due in large part to the mismanagement by the former president, the vice president also talking reproductive rights following the death of a young georgia mother who died after waiting 20 hours for a hospital to treat her complications from an abortion pill. but it should not be the government or donald trump telling her what to do about her own body and her life. >> former president donald trump held a town hall in michigan and was also asked about the economy deflecting questions about the cost of groceries by focusing

instead on energy, then tried courting the michigan crowd by bashing electric vehicles. >> what's wrong with those cars? they don't work well in cold and they don't work very well in heat. but elon's going to figure it out. >> trump described harris's phone call following sunday's apparent assassination attempt as very nice. harris has condemned the escalating political violence and most recently connected dangerous rhetoric to false claims. trump and running mate senator jd vance made about haitian migrants in ohio. ohio's governor, republican mike dewine, says those comments need to stop. >> we had one person, uh- told me. i'm not even sure my business would be here. but for the haitians. >> arkansas governor sarah huckabee sanders hosted trump's town hall and made a dig against harris by implying the vp has nothing. keeping her humble because she doesn't have kids. harris has two stepchildren, cole and ella. their biological mother chimed in to defend harris overnight. christiane cordero, abc news, washington.

>> dreamforce is here. the annual salesforce tech conference is officially underway. today's day 2000s of people will be roaming downtown san francisco and, of course, the halls of moscone center, which is where abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is this morning. and gloria, we saw the governor at yesterday's event signing some bills. reporter. >> yeah, he was here yesterday. reggie aqui. and it did appear to be a bit of a surprise. check out this footage right here. you can see governor newsom and salesforce ceo marc benioff taking the stage here at dreamforce. salesforce's annual tech conference. this was a one on one interview. and nearly 20 minutes in. and then this moment when the conversation centered on ai regulations and the 30 plus bills on the governor's desk and the governor asked if he could sign three bills, which he did. one of the new laws forces online platforms to remove deepfake videos that target voters. another requires consent of performers to use their digital likeness, and the

third extends protections to performers who are deceased, involving digital recreations of them. benioff seemed to be neutral on this uc berkeley professor olaf groth responded to how this all went down. >> there's also the chance that benioff was not briefed and prepared for that kind of moment. right. and that the governor used it to have a, pol. uh- all of that is possible. of course. >> three bills were signed into law on monday, but there are still many more that could be signed or vetoed in the days and weeks to come. and there's another bill on newsom's desk. this was written by state senator scott wiener. it is the first ever ai safety bill in the country. that's sb 1047, and it requires large corporations to do safety testing on the most powerful models before they're released to prevent any possibility of catastrophic harm. but according to the chronicle, the governor hinted he is hesitant about signing that bill and looking ahead to

will decide if a two mile stretch between sloat boulevard and lincoln way will close. proponents of the measure want the area turned into an ocean park. no. on prop k, supporters are concerned about the impact on traffic in their neighborhood in the east bay. antioch police are asking the community for help solving a series of shootings that have plagued the area. this map, you see, shows the locations of all the shootings over the past week. there have been almost a dozen. many of them happened along peppertree way and near sycamore drive. police believe the incidents may be related to the death of 21 year old elijah scales, who was shot in the same area earlier this month. several other people have been injured by the gunfire. antioch police are hoping anyone with information will call them. in the meantime, they have assigned extra officers to patrol the sycamore corridor for at least the next week. >> we continue to follow the chp surge in oakland and its impact

on crime. halfway through a new four month enforcement. the california highway patrol says it's made 329 arrests, seized 35 firearms and recovered 606 stolen vehicles. that's a 218% increase in seizures since the initial enforcement period in february, as both violent crime and property crime spiked since the february surge, the chp has arrested 930 people and recovered more than 1800 stolen vehicles. installation of a camera network to identify vehicles linked to crimes is now complete. a former pittsburgh police officer has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for actions he took while on the force. former officer ernesto mejia ozorkow was one of several antioch and pittsburgh police officers charged in a college degree fraud scheme. mejia ozorkow paid a woman to take online courses for him so he could get a raise. the east bay times reports. in the same

courtroom, former antioch police officer daniel harris pleaded guilty to distributing steroids. another former officer, davon wenger, will also be tried for dealing steroids. wenger and two ex antioch cops face charges of violating civil rights while on the force. >> developing news now sean diddy combs is due back in a new york courtroom today to ask for bail. he's in jail after being arrested oneteering charges. am. yesterday, a judge denied bail, saying combs was too much of a risk because the judge said combs is a flight risk and was concerned. >> witnesses and victims in the case could be in danger. during yesterday's hearing, combs pleaded not guilty to charges he led a criminal enterprise. prosecutors say combs subjected young women to violence, the use of firearms, threats, coercion and verbal, emotional, physical and sexual abuse. the indictment claims combs manipulated women to participate in highly orchestrated performances of sexual activity with male

prices. it's divided the state legislature. the governor wants lawmakers to pass his plan to require oil companies to maintain a backup supply of gas. he says that would avoid shortages and price spikes during refinery shutdowns. but there's a lot of opposition. oil companies say the idea will actually drive up prices due to the cost of storage. republican state lawmakers want to tackle gas prices by reducing gas taxes. even the governors of arizona and nevada asked governor newsom to shelve this plan. they're worried it will drive up prices in their states. a final vote on the gasoline storage measure is scheduled for october 1st. >> here's something we don't often hear about tonight sonoma county residents will debate one of the most contentious issues on the november ballot. factory farms measure j would prohibit large farms where animals are raised in confined areas. supporters say they exceed animal population limits and
