to afternoon sunshine. that's the call for the forecast today. get you started this morning. low 50s to the low 60s. that's what we're looking at as we get you going on our thursday. so the inland forecast first we get sunshine throughout the day. temperatures for the first time this week back into the 80s low and mid 80s. that will feel nice today around the bay shoreline. we do have some patchy cloud cover right now. giving way to morning sunshine and into the afternoon. will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s with bright conditions. a nice day on the way along the coast. we will stay pretty cloudy all morning long. some sunshine in the afternoon and highs will get you into the low 60s along the coast. let's check in with amanda. see those drive times this morning? >> tracking that sigalert in brisbane. this is southbound 101 before sierra point parkway. a two car crash is blocking the three right lanes there. there's no estimated time of reopening, and we know that debris is in the roadway. chp is on scene. drivers should expect delays from cow palace use southbound 280 or bayshore boulevard to get around. you can see speeds down to nine miles per hour there and then in hayward, southbound 880

before a street, a two car crashes in the two left lanes. the chp also on scene there. expect delays from 238. >> happening today, the dreamforce conference wraps up after three days in downtown san francisco and it appears as if the annual conference will return to the city. abc7 news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us live from moscone center. gloria, i'm saying that with not all the confidence in the world, because we're getting kind of mixed messages, but what's the mayor saying? >> reporter yes. so basically, the mayor, london breed, told the san francisco standard that she has gotten assurances that dreamforce will be in san francisco next year. however she has not shared any specifics, so we don't know all the details yet. i am working to get some more information on that for you this morning, but right now i want to share some footage for you from last night. this was a concert over at oracle park. this is dream fest and i got this footage. it was an awesome concert. this was benefiting ucsf. benioff children's hospital's pink and imagine

dragons performed. and actor matthew mcconaughey also presented an award to 12 year old lena swease. it was a very, very nice moment. she was honored with the 2024 colin powell medal of courage. she's been diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric bone cancer in her thigh bone and is getting treatment. and for the past year and a half, lena has served as a patient ambassador, sharing her story to help raise awareness and funds for the hospital. >> she had a life threatening cancer, and she took that experience and was able to turn it to something positive. >> i feel so happy and like, amazing and just so honored that they would pick me. >> and elena is now in remission, so that's some wonderful news. today is the last day of dreamforce. so here's what's in store for today. ayesha curry is speaking on building businesses and empowering communities. this

morning, actress kerry washington will talk about the power of living your purpose at ten in the morning. and then comedian john mulaney is closing everything out this afternoon. so some 45,000 people have been at the conference. and big last day today we're already seeing some people coming in, employees just getting ready for the big day ahead. live in san francisc. gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> gloria. thank you. there's a new consequence in san francisco when it comes to battling the fentanyl epidemic. and that's drug dealers being deported. that's because the federal government is involved. now, san francisco is a sanctuary city, which means it cannot work with ice on facilitating deportations. but if you're convicted in federal court, that is a totally different matter, because it's outside the city's jurisdiction. and that means the feds can deport you if you're undocumented. >> fentanyl is killing people, and our own sanctuary policy in our city does not protect violent crime. and so the

federal government is using this as a tool because they don't have the restrictions that we do in terms of our sanctuary city policy. >> san francisco's da brooke jenkins confirmed her office is heavily prosecuting drug dealers. the da's office has convicted 168 people in felony narcotics cases this year, and there are currently 571 felony narcotics cases pending. the da's office says it does not keep records of immigration status. >> merchants in san francisco's chinatown say they're fed up with illegal vending, posing a risk to community health and their livelihoods. as abc seven news anchor dion lim shows us, they're hoping city agencies will save their neighborhood. >> the elderly is supposed to be not doing that raw meat, produce, even baby sharks. >> these are just some of the examples of the illegal vending plaguing san francisco's chinatown. it's a problem. the chinatown merchants association

and the 175 businesses it represents has dealt with for years. >> we have a lot of merchants in chinatown here, have paid for the rental insurance license, everything. illegal street vendors, they don't need to pay for nothing. >> that's just the beginning. edward hsu says food is sometimes picked from the trash and resold. >> if someone eat it, okay, it's got a stomach flu. >> merchants say it's causing them to lose business. >> they usually block the street, and then they. even when i ask them, they refuse to leave. >> business owners also say what's left behind by illegal vendors attracts vermin, which keeps away tourists. >> the chinatown image is no good because it's a lot of garbage right here. >> the merchants association is now meeting with the mayor's office. department of public health and public works to express their frustrations. they say since the last time they met in the spring, nothing has changed. >> the city knew about. i mean, the health department know about it. why didn't stop them? >> we spotted department of

public works employees asking vendors to seek a $450 permit for the year. we witnessed them pack up and leave, and then an hour later, look at the one in the corner. >> he don't care. >> some shoppers i spoke to say they feel sympathy. >> they're not the criminals, they're just trying to make a living. >> but merchants say these aren't just elderly residents trying to make a buck. >> they already have some social security. and as we find out, some of the street vendors, they got food from the food bank, also from the food stamp. okay. they sell right on the street. that is totally not right. >> i reached out to the department of public health today for specifics about the situation in chinatown, and have yet to hear back. the mayor's office tells me they encourage the agencies to work together with chinatown and urge illegal vendors to get permitted. in the newsroom, dion lim, abc seven news. >> the san francisco zoo's embattled ceo will keep her job. the board of the san francisco zoological society released a statement in support of tonya

peterson's leadership. the zoological society is a nonprofit organization that runs the city owned zoo. peterson has been under investigation for five months after employees raised concerns about nepotism and animal and worker safety. the chronicle reports the investigation has wrapped up. peterson has been with the zoo since 2008. >> construction is starting this week on a new affordable housing development in downtown san francisco. it's happening at the temporary transbay terminal site on main street in folsom, near rincon hill, maryland, and breed tweeted this photo of workers preparing to do the first concrete pour of what will be a building with 335 apartments. breed says it's a positive step in converting downtown san francisco into a vibrant neighborhood. the project includes two buildings, a 17 story tower for families, and a nine story building for seniors. >> 609 in the accuweather forecast. we have been dealing with very fall-like temperatures

for much of this week, but a warming trend gets underway here today. so looking at the next ten days, we'll take sonoma for example. average daytime high this time of the year 83 degrees. we have not hit that at all this week, but over the next couple of days, we start to bring in some warmer weather over the weekend. saturday and sunday we're finally back above average and then early next week, monday and tuesday. it is hot for this time of year, well into the 90s and for the foreseeable future. starting this weekend, we will keep those temperatures above average. so we're finally doing a 180 on our temperatures. after a pretty cool week we've been experiencing. a live look at our okay camera this morning. we have mostly cloudy skies up above, increasing sunshine. that's the call today. it's a nice afternoon. later on today we'll get our warmest areas into the 70s and 80s very pleasant around the bay shoreline. you'll start to feel some warmer weather today. increasing sunshine. we'll see that sunshine pretty fast this morning as we head into the weekend. even hotter air is going to move in here, so the

the company behind the obstacle course for negligence and emotional distress. evan goldsmith is one of those people. he and his wife ended up with rashes like this. these are photos sent to abc seven news by multiple people after the race. the goldsmith also got sick for several weeks, impacting their work and family. >> we drove home that monday morning from northern california down to southern california, and by the time i got home, i had a really bad headache. i had fever, it was really apparent at that point that we actually needed medical attention. >> goldsmith's attorney is representing nearly 150 people with similar allegations. the attorney believes the rashes were caused by a bacteria found

in untreated water. they claim the water was used to make the mud and was also pumped into showers used by people who are trying to clean up. abc seven news reporter j.r stone has reached out to tough mudder organizer spartan race incorporated. multiple times this week and has not heard back. he also reached out last year when this first happened and never received a response. then boeing will furlough nonunion workers and cut executive pay as it tries to save cash during a strike by assembly workers. a federal mediator is joining contract talks. striking workers want a 40% raise over four years. the company is offering 25%. the strike is the latest in a series of issues at boeing following deadly crashes of its 737 max planes and more recently, the mid-air blowout on a flight in january because of missing bolts. a major shakeup at bay area genetics firm 23 and me. all seven members of the board resigned this week over plans by the ceo to take the company

private. the board members are upset that the buyout offer by the ceo is so low. it's just the latest struggle for the company. 23 andme was valued at $3.1 billion when it went public in 2021. it never turned a profit. its stock price went from ten bucks a share to just $0.35 on friday. 23 andme agreed to pay $30 million to customers following a data breach. >> a former employee of williams-sonoma is accused of defrauding the company out of $11 million, while the company is based in san francisco. this worker was in georgia. the indictment against him claims he used the money on a number of interesting things, including a house, a yacht, cars, sports tickets, and even a pet cloning service. it claims he registered an llc business and approved hundreds of invoices to the business. in his role as a warehouse general operations manager for work that was never provided. >> balloons and trampolines are

still spinning nearby, but it's continuing its trek south, so it's getting out of here. any of this moisture you see to our south is going to stay to our south. we're not anticipating any sort of mist and drizzle today that low will get out of here this afternoon. and then high pressure builds in here. get used to this high. it's going to stick with us through much of next week. we have some mild air coming our way and a string of days that we're going to have with above average temperatures. so today we'll get lots of sunshine inland. we're back into the 80s for the first time this week. inland low to mid 80s for daytime. highs around the bay shoreline. some patchy fog. right now we get that midday sunshine. very comfortable this afternoon. upper 60s to lower 70s and then we'll stay in the low 60s along the coast. so the warming trend begins today. temperatures getting closer to average for this time of the year with increasing sunshine as we head throughout the morning and into the afternoon. overnight tonight, partly to mostly cloudy overnight lows generally in the 50s now. future tracker showing you by tomorrow we get those daytime highs pretty much at average where we should be this

in december. the arizona based grocery chain has more than 400 stores in 23 states, and there is a new company in charge of e-scooters in the south bay, san jose signed a deal with a company called spin. that means the city is phasing out the lime and bird scooters that we've seen for years. spin will launch up to 1000 of those e-scooters in san jose, with a rollout starting in mid november. low income households can apply for an 85% discount to use these scooters. next, at 630, the new policies in place at stanford in response to those on campus protests and the fbi warning about a pig butchering scam that has nothing to do with pigs at all. the scheme that could target your money and wipe the funds

of device explosions has killed dozens of people in lebanon. the latest attack targeting walkie talkies. it came a day after hundreds of pagers blew up across the country. the explosions are targeting members of the hezbollah militant group. abc news reporter marcus moore was just feet away from one of these attacks. we just heard a loud explosion and i saw a man whose hands were gone. >> and then somebody pulled out a weapon and people scattered >> u.s. officials confirmed to abc news. israel is behind the pager attack. they say israel warned. defense secretary lloyd austin an operation was about to take place but did not give specifics. the biden administration has repeatedly said it was not involved. administration officials have not condemned the attacks, either. >> israeli police say they foiled an iranian plot to assassinate top leaders, including prime minister benjamin netanyahu. a 73 year

old is accused of twice smuggling himself into iran via turkey, to meet with intelligence officials from tehran. the discussions included potential plans to attack netanyahu, as well as the defense minister and intelligence chief. the plot was allegedly intended as retaliation for the killing of a hamas chief in july. >> a new warning about efforts to interfere with the november election. the fbi says iranian hackers sent material stolen from donald trump's campaign to president biden's campaign earlier this summer. that was in late june and early july, before mr. biden dropped out of the race. there's no evidence biden's staffers did anything with that material. officials say the hack is one of several efforts by the iranian government to undermine confidence in our election. >> the house has rejected a temporary funding bill to keep the government running. there's now less than two weeks to go to find a solution or risk a government shutdown. democrats and some republicans opposed the measure because it included the

so-called save act. it's a bill backed by republican leadership and former president donald trump that would require individuals to provide proof of u.s. citizenship to vote. democrats said the legislation is a nonstarter, noting it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections. speaker johnson says he will now work on a plan b, but has not given details on that plan. >> we're following the latest developments in the murder case of cash app founder bob lee. yesterday, a judge heard several pretrial motions. the tech mogul was stabbed in san francisco's soma neighborhood in april 2023 and later died. he is charged with his murder. a judge ruled his defense attorneys won't be allowed to refer to lee as, quote, crazy bob, a nickname he used sometimes on social media. the judge denied the defense's motion to exclude evidence that the knife was the same brand found in the apartment of nima's sister. several other motions were heard privately after the

judge closed the courtroom. >> a new school year is beginning at stanford with new rules around protesting on campus. the university's new president is rolling out the updated policies after stanford's pro-palestinian protests made national headlines. on tuesday, stanford released what are called freedom of expression policies. unauthorized tents will be prohibited, and students concealing their face may be asked to identify themselves by a university official. in a video, the provost explains other disruption policies. >> a provocative poster may be okay in some places around campus, but not placed on the personal residence door of an individual targeted by that speech. >> at the end of may, stanford's faculty senate formally adopted an institutional neutrality statement that made the school the third university behind harvard and syracuse, to remain neutral on social and political issues. san francisco voters will soon have their say on

whether to permanently close part of the great highway to cars. now, tensions over the plan seem to be reaching a boiling point. the plan is going to be on your hands. that clash happened at a recent rally over prop k, the measure that would close the great highway permanently between sloat boulevard and lincoln way. the idea first came up during the pandemic to give people more space to be outside. supporters now want that extra space to become a new two mile oceanside park. opponents gathered near the great highway yesterday. they are worried about the traffic impact to the nearby neighborhood. >> the highway is the fastest way for people to commute south and is heavily used during the week for work, commuters and the data don't bear out that there will be a traffic concern. >> sunset arterial, which is a nearby six lane road, can more than absorb the traffic we've seen. >> a separate section of the great highway south of sloat boulevard is already slated to close to cars due to erosion. if prop k passes, city leaders have

francisco next year. but she did not give specifics. and we know that, of course, salesforce ceo marc benioff had previously threatened to move salesforce's annual tech conference from san francisco to another city. and salesforce has reportedly told city leaders that it would not commit to holding dreamforce in san francisco in 2025 unless a safe and secure environment is demonstrated. the company is using the pressure to negotiate discounted hotel rates and other concessions. the tech conference is expected to generate more than $90 million. now, one thing that salesforce is promising is to remain focused on artificial intelligence. announcing plans to open a new ai learning center at its san francisco headquarters in 2025 for in-person community ai training courses. >> and we have dedicated floors where community members who might be scared of ai can come and get trained at no cost
