lauren martinez. we begin with a deadly shooting in the south ba, hurting a community that has seen too much pain from gun violence. a valley transportation authority bus driver is dead, and deputies are investigating it as a homicide. the shooting happened last night at vta's shibuya yard in south san jose. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard has new details about the victim. >> we're sad for his passing. and, you know, our prayers are with his family. >> workers at the santa clara valley transportation authority are still processing news of a shooting which left a bus driver dead. transit union president raj singh knew the victim, a vta driver, for ten years. >> he was a very good, good individual. i can't recall a you know, a negative interaction with him. >> the deadly shooting happened friday night at vta shibuya division yard. the santa clara county sheriff's department says it appears to be an isolated incident. a motive is unclear and no arrests have been made.

bernard, abc seven news. >> a discarded cigarette led to a fire that damaged a building in san francisco's tenderloin neighborhood. firefighters say the cigarette ignited material on the roof. they believe it came from next door. seneca hotel. a supportive housing site for formerly homeless adults at sixth street and stevenson. tenants were evacuated as crews put out the fire. luckily, no one was displaced by the damage in the north bay. another suspected arsonist has been arrested. a 61 year old man is accused of setting four small fires at southwest community park, right next to meadowview elementary school. none of the fires damaged buildings, though students at the school had to shelter in place because of the heavy smoke. yesterday that arrest comes just one day after a cal firefighter was arrested, accused of starting five fires in the north bay this summer. investigators say he started the fires while off duty. none of them burned more than an acre. the san francisco unified school

board is holding an emergency closed door meeting tomorrow. the rare weekend meeting comes at a time of huge challenges for the district. sfusd delayed an announcement of possible school closures this week. the district is also facing a financial crisis, with state appointed advisers in charge of the district's spending. the agenda for tomorrow's meeting only mentions a public employee performance evaluation. board of education president matt alexander told us in a statement that sfusd is experiencing significant issues. the sf board of education is meeting to determine next steps forward. now to what could be a new era of entertainment and a new life for the city of san francisco. it began with the expansion of night markets in different parts of the city. then yesterday launched the opening of the city's first entertainment zone. and tonight, the night market moved to the beach. it's all in an effort to change how people

we're talking about mid to upper 60s on the coast, upper 70s to low 80s around the bay shoreline, and mid 90s in the warmest inland areas. but look at monday afternoon highs at or above 100 degrees in the hottest inland spots. we'll see upper 80s to about 90 around the bay shoreline. that's going to be a very hot day with not much change on tuesday afternoon. however, we do have a cooldown on midweek. cool down to look forward to. i'll give you more details on that and how long it will last a little bit later. >> lauren spencer thank you. happening now. part of 680 southbound remains closed for construction work. it's happening from acosta boulevard in san ramon to 580 in pleasanton. all 580 and 680 connectors will be open along the right lane. caltrans says the road will reopen by 4:00 monday morning. northbound 680 will remain open and on eastbound 580. in livermore. a fatal accident is causing some major backups. it happened near the first street offramp. all lanes were closed after the

don't have to worry about rain for a while. >> yeah, you're right about that. even though fall starts tomorrow. but i think rain is pretty far away. lauren, here's a look at what's going on with our weather on the satellite radar composite image. you see high pressure building in offshore. and that's going to be the controlling feature in our weather for the next several days, actually bringing us mainly sunny skies and quite a warm up as fall gets underway. right now we're looking at wind speeds at the surface, generally under 15mph. so we've got breezy conditions out there, but gentle breezes and it is warmer right now in most locations than at this time last night. four degrees warmer in novato and fairfield. only a degree or two warmer near the bay and on the coast. so moving along, taking a look from our exploratorium camera looking back at a portion of the san francisco skyline, it's 57 degrees here in the city right now, 60 at both oakland and hayward, 61 at san jose and redwood city, 57 at half moon bay. here's the view at the golden gate, where often this time of the night, this time of the year, we'll see fog. but it

hasn't quite developed yet. right now we have mid 50s up at santa rosa and petaluma, 58 in napa, low 60s at fairfield, concord and livermore. and as we look across the embarcadero from our rooftop camera, let's check out our forecast headlines. fall begins tomorrow. as if we haven't said that enough alread. 5:43 a.m. we'll have sunny skies and a warming trend beginning on the first day of fall early next week, we get a taste of summer like heat with high temperatures rising up to triple digits in some of our hottest inland areas. but midweek will bring some changes. a cooler pattern will develop. it will feel a lot more like fall as we get into the middle of the week. now overnight, look for low clouds to develop at the coastline and push locally across the bay. there'll be lots of spots of patchy drizzle offshore, some of it may move move onshore, so early tomorrow morning there may be some residual damp spots, or you might even encounter a light shower if you're out in the early morning hours. but by midday, we'll see the fog burning back to the coastline, as it often does, giving way to mainly sunny skies in the afternoon. overnight, low temperatures will be mainly in

the mid to upper 50s. a little milder in places like antioch and san jose, where lows will not drop below 60 degrees. and then tomorrow look for high temperatures on the rise 66 at half moon bay. in fact, many coastal locations will see highs in the upper 60s to near 70, right around the bay shoreline. we'll see some low 80s in the warmest spot, the warmest spots up in the north bay. 86 napa 91 will be the high at santa rosa. the inland east bay will have mainly mid 90s. around 9495 degrees and down in the south bay 87 will be the high in san jose, 91 at morgan hill. and as we look ahead to monday, the triple digits start to appear in the hottest inland spots. upper 90s still on tuesday, so the heat will be slow to retreat. but then on wednesday it starts to cool down significantly. so here's the accuweather seven day forecast that midweek. cool down will be a welcome change after a couple of degrees of pretty hot weather, especially for the beginning of fall, and that will take us that cool down into the end of the week, and we'll have a more comfortable and more seasonal range of temperatures. >> yeah, i'm glad we're kind of easing into to fall a little

the russian river pride parade and festival returned to guerneville. today, people lined the streets to watch and cheer everyone on. there were djs, drag artists, performers and musicians, and a variety show. after the festival. tomorrow, the weekend wraps up with an intergenerational brunch. well, cal maritime in vallejo is cutting ties with a major athletic association over a policy banning transgender athletes. the maritime academy says it's leaving the national association of intercollegiate athletics next summer. back in april, the ncaa passed a policy restricting participation in women's sports to athletes assigned female at birth and who have not begun hormone therapy. cal maritime's president says the policy is exclusionary and violate state law. the naia has not commented on the departure.

say multiple people are shot. police say dozens are injured. at least four have been killed. it happened in the busy five points area south of birmingham. police believe there may have been multiple shooters. so far, there have been no arrests. no other details are available right now. well, escalating tensions tonight between israel and hezbollah. today, the idf launched more air strikes into lebanon aimed at hezbollah targets. this as israel continues to take aim at hamas in gaza. abc news reporter marcus moore has the latest from lebanon. reporter the idf launching a wave of airstrikes into southern lebanon saturday, as tensions in the region continue to escalate. >> these airstrikes come one day after israel struck a beirut suburb that, according to the lebanese health ministry, killed at least 37 people, including three children also killed in friday's airstrike. ibrahim akil, one of hezbollah's top commanders, akil was wanted by
