really hot and sunny. >> we are sweating, but we have a fan with us. we have hats, sunglasses. i have the towel. we wish we had shade. if you look across from us, they all have shade. >> the 40 niners sending this message to fans. our community's well-being is top priority and we recognize the impact this heat wave is having on everyone. levi's stadium has complimentary water stations featured across the main concourses and our guest services locations will have sunscreen available. the niners are showing their strength even when the heat is on. go, niners! we saw quite a few niners fans heading to their cars a bit early, and who can blame them? it's hot in the end. a tough game for the niners. they lost by one point to the cardinals 24 to 23. hopefully next game will be a little bit cooler for the fans in santa clara. cornell bernard abc seven news. >> you look at cornell and he's on that pavement. it's black. it's radiating. oh how miserable i know. >> and san jose is one of those
11:20 pm
places that broke a record today of 103. and that temperature is taken about six feet above the ground in the shade. so you can imagine what it was like for all the fans. yes, even hotter out there. but things are about to change. here's a look at live doppler seven. in fact, we're seeing some partly cloudy conditions over parts of the bay area, and we haven't seen this in about a week. it's been mainly clear out there, although we still have a pretty good clear view from sutro looking out towards downtown san francisco. and you can see market street there in san francisco it is still 80 degrees. also san jose at 80. oakland down to 77. hayward 78. redwood city 79. and half moon bay is really cool down to 66 degrees right now. and then from mount tam, we're looking south towards oakland and the bay bridge, where we're seeing some temperatures now in the 70s in the north bay, like santa rosa 71, petaluma 66, napa, fairfield in the low 70s, and concord and livermore in the mid and upper 70s and temperatures will not drop too much overnight. we
11:21 pm
normally see 50s when we wake up tomorrow morning, though it will be in the mid 60s around the bay. even some upper 60s like fremont, san jose 69 and then check out antioch 74 degrees cooler in santa rosa 63 but still not terribly cool without much fog at all. and the wind gusts, they're going to be light through the overnight hours. and then tomorrow afternoon they will pick up. and what you'll notice is the winds will be coming from the northwest. so this sea breeze is going to cool things down, especially at the beaches. and we'll also extend inland, but not quickly enough. so i'll show you how warm it's going to be. but given that tomorrow we have a heat advisory, the excessive heat warning already canceled. also, what you'll notice is the heat advisory. that means temps can still reach up to 100 degrees, but what's not included are all the beaches this time. even yesterday and today. actually, until 11:00, san francisco was in an excessive heat warning. but not tomorrow. just an
11:22 pm
advisory. so we are dropping down to major to moderate heat risk for tomorrow. there's still a few spots where we have the extreme heat risk. the areas in purple there, just a few inland areas and maybe near the santa cruz mountains. but most of us decreasing and then that decreases even more into on tuesday. so it's still going to be hot inland. but you'll notice the breeze at the coast. so san jose, 94, santa clara, cupertino, milpitas 93. and then we'll see some 80s in on the peninsula, 83 in san mateo, pacifica 74, san francisco 81 degrees and then north bay, still in the 90s like mid 90s for petaluma, sonoma, napa, east bay also ranges from mid 80s to near 9085, in berkeley to 91 in castro valley and union city, hitting 90. and this is where we still see the heat, but closer to 100 degrees in concord, pittsburg, antioch, brentwood and also in livermore. let's
11:23 pm
jump ahead to tuesday where we get more relief. notice the triple digits are gone inland areas in the 90s, but san francisco still warm at 75. san rafael 87. then wednesday we continue to drop and drop even more on thursday. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so still another hot day. but notice cooling at the coast and then temperatures really moderate. really more significant relief on tuesday. so we'll be coming down by another ten degrees. cooling continues. we start to see partly cloudy conditions return. even some fog tuesday night into wednesday morning. so that will be a nice sight. and then we're still tracking a chance of rain. about 30% chance right now for saturday. >> still early though. >> yes it can change. >> can change. well coming up, it is the end of an era for the a's and las vegas. the city's plans to say goodbye to an iconic casino a

oakland 86, san jose 94. and still some triple digits inland. it's going to take them another day or two for them to see the real cool down. in fact, tuesday is when they drop down to the 90s and wednesday they'll see the 80s. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so one more hot day and then even possibly a chance of rain by saturday. closer to average two though at least by the end of the week. >> in a way it's kind of nice because i don't recognize the city when it's warm at nighttime like this. >> i almost feel like we're in the midwest during the summer or the east coast. >> yeah, minus the humidity though. yes. yeah, it feels much better. oh, and i've also seen people say online they miss carl the fog. >> yes. it's going to be back on wednesday. >> okay. we shall wait and see. francis. thanks. once again, let's get to chris alvarez with another preview of sports. hi, chris. >> hi, deon. coming up in sports, 40 niners with a chance to rebound thursday night in seattle. plus, when did tom brady know brock purdy was the real deal? story time with the goat that's

40 niners. brock purdy etched his name into the record books today, becoming the fastest quarterback in franchise history to throw 50 touchdowns with this four yard fastball to george kittle near the end of the first quarter. the story of mr. irrelevant becomes more relevant with every game, but he did throw two interceptions as the 40 niners were held scoreless in the second half during the loss to arizona. both were deflected as the niners turned it over three times in the game. still no time to sulk. thursday night game in seattle looms. both teams coming off brutal home losses. but guess what? niners win on thursday and they're tied for first place in the nfc west. >> i feel like thursday is a must win for us. you know especially to take that number one spot. >> we got a short week so we don't have a choice but to turn the page. so you know and obviously we got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot.
11:54 pm
if we want to be a good football team. >> the nice thing about football is, while each like each loss stings terribly. the nice thing is you. you get to play the following week, and when you get to play on thursday, if you dwell on it for very long, you're just going to put yourself in a hole. so the fact that we get to play on thursday, coach shanahan's going to have a great game plan for us and that's all that matters. >> but what will the niners do about their kicking game? thursday night kicker jake moody twisted his right kicking ankle, making a tackle on this kickoff. in the second quarter. he did not return afterwards. the team calling it a high right ankle sprain. kyle yewcic had to become the holder because the regular holder, punter mitch wishnowsky, took over kicking duties and he actually made his first career nfl field goal, but with a short week. the niners have to figure out who's going to be their kicker in a hurry. >> they'll work on that stuff right away with kickers, it's you know, they they're almost independent contractors. so we'll get them in as fast as possible and get the best guy we can. and i'm sure we'll have to be for a few weeks. >> it just seems like with each loss we've had, you know, just a

series of events that, you know, have just gone on top of each other and it's unfortunate something, you know, you don't. it's hard to plan for. but, you know, i think the biggest thing is just unfortunate. you know, you just got to you got to answer and, you know, score touchdowns and not have to kick field goals. >> san mateo's own tom brady was in the broadcast booth today. he was once an overlooked quarterback to remember in purdy's very first nfl start, he led the niners to a dominant 35 seven win over brady and the bucs back in december of 2022. brady still remembers and told a great story on the broadcast of how how not taking purdy seriously before that first start and as a result, might have become the first qb to realize, hey, purdy is the real deal. you saw him live. >> his first start wasn't so great for you that day. >> oh man, why do you got to bring that up? i know you know it. his first start and i actually thought i was playing for the bucs and we said, oh god, we get to go in and grapple who got hurt. and we got this guy purdy. oh, we got a shot today. mr. irrelevant, and i'm

sitting on the sideline and i'm like, how is mr. irrelevant carving us up? and is our defense that bad? and it turns out that brock is just that good. >> that's a great story. last night in berkeley, one of the biggest games in the last 20 years for cal football, hyped up crowd began with espn's college game day in the morning brought that energy at night, cal jumped out to a 3510 lead on undefeated number eight miami. jaydn ott running right into your living room and then hung out the cheerleaders to celebrate. bears were up 25, but heisman hopeful cam ward led the comeback. that's great video right there. miami took the lead with 26 seconds to go. and the bears know they really let one get away. >> it sucks. >> everybody in the locker room knows it sucks. everybody could have done better i mean i put a lot including myself. >> we didn't get it done. so every individual has to own it. and i think this is a pivotal moment for the team. and i hope that all coaches, players, administrators, everybody involved will be proud of how they responded in a month or two months or six months or a year. in this moment, right now.

>> major league baseball playoffs. >> game two between the dodgers and padres. l.a. looking for a two zero series lead in the first mookie betts deep drive to left. jurickson profar oh going after it into the stands. betts rounds the bases, but profar actually caught the baseball and he's telling the fans about it. i mean, what a play. it continued all game in the seventh. they actually started throwing stuff at him. it caused a delay. profar was hot. when it resumed. the padres put on a power display. they hit a team record six homers in the game. fernando tatis junior had two. padres rolled ten two. series tied at one. game three tuesday night in san diego. abc seven sports is sponsored by river rock casino. dion. >> chris, thank you very much. and don't forget, you can watch all of our newscasts live and on demand through the abc seven bay area connected tv app. it's available for apple tv, google tv, amazon fire tv and roku. just download the app now and start streaming for free. and
