go, we spoke with the vice president in the key battleground of north carolina and we asked her how she's preparing for the likelihood that trump won't accept the results if he doesn't win. in 2020 we saw donald trump come out and prematurely claim victory on election night. i know he's got a whole team of lawyers standing at the ready. what are you going to do if he does that again? >> we are, sadly, ready if he does. if we know he is manipulating the press and attempting to manipulate the consensus of the american people. we're prepared to respond. >> reporter: are you concerned he'll try to interfere with the certification of the election results? what will you do then? >> i don't know. i think he is capable of anything as evidenced by what he did on january 6th. >> reporter: harris is out west today in arizona and nevada. she is hitting every major battleground in these final days, michael. >> michael: all right, mary. thank you very much. we're going to turn to rachel scott in wisconsin for the

in jeopardy. so we decided to dig in, traveling miles to uncover the truth. this morning new details into how elvis presley's family stopped an alleged fraudster from stealing their beloved graceland. >> riley takes her role as trustee of this estate very seriously. >> reporter: for the first time the lawyer for the sole heir of the home, speaking out about how they unravelled the alleged plot. >> we send our private investigator out to find the notary public who allegedly no tar rised these documents. >> reporter: it's one of the most famous houses in the world, the home of elvis presley. but it was the home's iconic homeownership that would be the basis for an elaborate scheme. in a bombshell last may, an unknown entity claimed presley's daughter, lisa marie, using graceland as collateral had borrowed $3.8 million and never paid it back. so the mysterious company said

it was going to auction graceland off. but the family filed a counter suit. in the lawsuit, riley claimed her mother did not borrow anything and that the loan documents are forgeries. the investigation hanging on a key person notary kimberly fillbrick. >> i would have remembered notarizing something for lisa marie. >> reporter: she swore that wasn't her signature. >> this is what they showed you? >> that's what they showed me. yeah. that's not even close to my signature. it's very loopy. >> reporter: based on her affidavit, riley's lawyers rushed into court to stop the sale of graceland. a judge issued a temporary injunction the day before it was set to go for auction. in mid august, 53-year-old lisa finley was arrested and charged with fraud and aggravated identity theft. she has plead not guilty. she and her attorneys did not

[ laughter ] >> michael: all right. thank you, will. now to the latest school district considering a phone ban. rebecca jarvis is back with details. good morning again, rebecca. >> rebecca: nice to see you, michael. oregon is the latest state to consider a ban on cell phones in the classroom. its department of education is encouraging districts to keep cell phones out of school, saying they affect learning and students' mental health. lake oswego, near portland, is one of the districts highlighted in a 28 page report by the oregon department of education. the high school principal said their school board voted unanimously to adopt a cell phone ban this year.

he said that a no phone policy has improved student social skills and learning. the call to crack down on cell phones in schools has been growing nationwide. eight other states in the country ban or restrict cell phone use in schools. california is the latest. other states have moved to create some limitations but policies are different across the country. some parents have opposed the bans, arguing it's a matter of safety. here in new york city, the nation's largest school district, they dropped the plan for a cell phone plan after teachers and principal unions raised concerns about how it would be implemented. clearly an issue. families are talking about this. schools are talking about this. people are thinking about this and concern for their kids, robin. >> robin: have to fine some sort of solution, rebecca. thank you. we're going to turn to the election. something we noticed. a number of polling places across the country, that number

has been declining sharply. over 20% of them have vanished in the past decade. this as the number of registered voters has been increasing. our senior national correspondent steve osunsami has more for us. good morning, steve. >> reporter: good morning, robin. as more and more americans head to their voting places like this one behind me on these last few days of early voting in the state, they're finding they have fewer polls to go to. in georgia alone, for reasons people are still debating, about 400 voting places have closed in the last decade. on tuesday, wanda jenkins won't be able to vote at this fire station like she used to. >> there were four voting machines all placed on this wall. >> reporter: she'll need to drive 12 miles after her rural georgia county went from six polling places to just one in 2013. lot of people feel strongly that this was done on purpose? >> yes. >> reporter: to stop black folks from voting? >> yes. >> reporter: county officials
