million budget deficit. tonight, the district announced the ten schools that may close or consolidate at the end of the school year. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez talked to families who found out just hours ago. >> parents and students in san jose are still processing the news that their schools are facing potential closures. >> honestly, pretty sad because either my siblings or i won't be able to see our friends because it's going to be like different schools. >> melanie delgado is in the sixth grade at renaissance academy at fisher. it's one of seven schools the alum rock union school district is recommending for closure. now students are thinking, what will this mean for them next year? >> i don't know. lots of kids. so i'll feel like more like nervous. >> the district is citing a steady decline in enrollment nearly ten years ago. they had around 10,000 students. now they have 7200. it was really upsetting that i thought we were

doing good. >> and it's not. >> we spoke with a mom who didn't want to share her name, but has been an active parent at lucia academy, where her son is in the second grade. lucia is one of two schools the district is recommending consolidating, not closing. superintendent herman cerda held an informational meeting monday morning for parents. >> i asked him specifically if they were going to keep the staff members so what he answered was that they were going to look for empty. i don't know, empty space at san antonio and then consolidate lucia. there. >> sarda said the district is facing a $20 million deficit. each school they can close will save them $1 million in operating costs. >> when you submit your budget to the county, you have to show three years that you're fiscally solvent. we are only showing two years. the third year we're bankrupt. >> it's just worries. worrisome.

what's going to happen to them? >> the superintendent has to present these recommendations to the board of trustees on november 14th. the board will make a final decision on december second. in san jose, lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> sadly, a 17 year old boy is confirmed dead after a boat capsized this weekend near bodega bay. this is the only known death from this incident, as four others remain missing. however, the search was called off after crews searched 57 combined hours over 2100mi■!s. n 11 year old boy is the sole survivor so far. >> he self rescued so he was able to make it to shore and stayed the night on the shore. and in the morning he walked up and he was found by passersby on highway one and he survived. it's really miraculous that he that he made it. >> oh, it is a second boat also capsized in the same area early this morning. one person died and another is still missing.

all right, let's get a check. now on the weather. we've been talking about fire danger. >> that's right. abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is here with what we can expect for tomorrow. sandhya. yeah, and dan and ama, we are expecting high fire danger. it all begins tomorrow morning and it continues until thursday morning. we are talking about dry, gusty offshore winds, humidity dropping and critical fire weather conditions ahead. so definitely be prepared. here's what's bringing us the windy pattern. low pressure has moved off to the east, but high pressure is rapidly building in behind it. the wind flow between the high and the low, causing the drying winds. right now we're already starting to see that switch around out of the north, gusting to 33. in half moon bay, we do have gusty winds over the hilltops as well. going hour by hour tomorrow afternoon. that northerly wind flow starts to impact parts of napa and solano counties. notice they are ramping up up to 34 miles an hour. calistoga, fairfield and it only gets stronger by

wednesday morning. we're talking 50 mile an hour winds there in fairfield, 38 in napa, even gusty in other parts of the bay area. this continues into wednesday evening so that fire danger will remain high. humidity levels are going to drop, so they're pretty much high right now. but watch what happens 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. they're down to 12% in concord, 11% in livermore. very dry air mass. what little moisture we did get from the last rain will get wrung out and the fuels will get even drier. this pattern continues heading into wednesday afternoon, so if you are going to the polls tomorrow, you don't have to worry about rain. but certainly watch out for the winds and the fire danger tomorrow morning. a cool start in the morning. 40s 50s, gusty winds at noontime, mild with sunshine. temperatures in the 60s and 70s at 4:00 and at 8 p.m. we are looking at that high fire danger. still high clouds are passing through to our north on live doppler seven, and we'll continue to increase temperatures right now, anywhere from the 40s to the 60s. there's a live view from our emeryville

camera. it's a clear view tomorrow through thursday morning. dry, gusty winds, high fire danger, election day weather, mainly sunny skies and this weekend we are talking about morning fog and drizzle along with cooler afternoons. so first thing tomorrow morning you will see those high clouds. it's going to be breezy at the coast. 40s and 50s. the winds will start to pick up in some of our inland areas in the afternoon. we're looking at high temperatures anywhere from the 60s to the 70s. definitely above average for this time of year. and here's a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. election day is dry, but we do have the high fire danger with the windy pattern. and that pattern repeats on wednesday before the winds ease by thursday afternoon. still mild on friday, but we'll notice the cooling over the weekend and then we will bring in some fog and drizzle as well. chance of rain level one system on monday
