you were sleeping, donald trump became the president elect once again with a decisive victory over vice president kamala harris. addressing a fired up crowd of supporters in florida overnight calling for unity and promising to heal the country tomorrow, she will be back here tomorrow to address not only the huo family, not only to address our supporters, but to address the nation. >> vice president harris, deciding not to speak last night, instead sending her campaign co-chair to tell supporters at her watch party at howard university she would speak to them today. >> good morning. >> it is wednesday, november 6th, and of course, there are many other election results. we are also covering this morning from recalls in the east bay to the mayor's race in san francisco. but first, we want to get a quick check of the weather with lisa. >> yeah, it is wild out there, isn't it? with the gusty winds, not only at the surface but the upper elevations. right now you can see the wind gusts to over 30 miles an hour in livermore. they've been blowing all night long, and

it's going to continue. and the winds are going to increase in speed as we get through the eight, nine, 10:00 hour upper elevations. look at this. 62 mile an hour wind gusts in the north bay. also in the south bay, the purples here indicate the fierce winds and with that, the relative humidity continues to drop. we're at 26% in vallejo. usually we're at 6,070% for the morning hours. this will continue to dial back into about the 10% range for our inland valleys. right now with all that wind. temperatures are in the 60s, so that atmosphere has been mixed all night long. and as we go through the next couple of hours, we'll continue to see that sun bring the numbers up through the upper 60s to low 70s. so it's a warm day. the winds aren't going to back off until the afternoon, and when they do, it will still be in the 30 mile an hour range in the upper elevations. so the fire danger is high. critical fire danger. if we see any fires, they could spread rapidly. so do be careful. our red flag warning not expiring until tomorrow and our wind advisory expires later on this afternoon. frances. >> all right. lisa, you said

it is really windy out there. in fact, there's a wind advisory also for the bay bridge this morning. but traffic is flowing well as you make your way into san francisco, as we show you the drive time, traffic, maps, everything is green except for folks coming out of tracy, where there's also a wind advisory for the altamont pass. and traffic is heavy on westbound 205 under 20 miles an hour as you move towards the altamont pass. so that drive time for you, tracy, to dubn is now 41 minutes, but it's green southbound, 680 dublin to mission boulevard in fremont. 15 minutes and delay free on northbound 85, making your way to cupertino, reggie aqui. amanda. >> and now back to that breaking election news. abc news projects that donald trump will be the next president of the united states. >> and this all happened while most of you were sleeping at about 230 in the morning. trump secured the final electoral college votes needed. and we do want to take a look at how the votes stand. you can see with 88% reporting a 51% to donald trump. pretty clear cut here.

and we do want to take a look at how the electoral college is playing out as well. trump taking 279. harris with 223. >> this is considered one of the greatest political comebacks in american political history. not since grover cleveland in the 1890s has a president left office and then won reelection four years later. before the race was called, donald trump traveled from his home in florida to a nearby convention center, where supporters were holding a watch party. he spoke for quite a while, saying his win was an unprecedented mandate and calling for americans to unite. >> so i want to thank the american people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president to help our country heal. we have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. we're going to fix our borders. we're going to fix everything about our country and. >> exit polling shows trump made big gains among latino voters,

which helped boost his win in rural areas. >> president biden has not commented on the election. vice president harris is expected to speak today. she was expected to speak at her ama mater, howard university in washington, d.c, last night, but instead her campaign co-chair addressed the crowd shortly before 1 a.m. local time. >> we will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken. so you won't hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow. she will be back here tomorrow to address not only the hu family, not only to address our supporters, but to address the nation. >> people at howard say the tone turned quickly last night from hope to despair. some supporters appeared emotional as they left campus when the vice president speaks today, abc news will have live coverage. you can see it

wherever you watch abc seven news. now to some local results, starting with san francisco's mayoral race. this is reflecting 100% of precincts reporting. this also only reflects the first round voting. we want to note that when you look at ranked choice, lurie maintains his lead into the 14th round with 56% of votes. abc seven news reporter lena howland is tracking this race live at city hall. lena. >> amanda. at last night's watch party, daniel lurie said that he is hoping for a victory in the san francisco mayor's race, and his supporters are pumped about his early lead in the vote count. now, keep in mind lurie has never held public office. he is the founder of a san francisco nonprofit and, of course, heir to the levi strauss fortune. he says he is vowing to bring change to san francisco and make the city a place that residents can be proud of.

>> turning around this city is not going to happen overnight, no matter who wins this electio, you. difficult challenges ahead. we know this. but here's another truth. our opportunities and advantages are far more powerful to solve our challenges, we need to work together and turn the page on the politics of demonizing each other on every issue. >> i'll say san francisco is not for sale. we got to just take it back, because i don't know if you remember what happened in 2018. i mean, there were several days, even the night of election night, where i was definitely not in the lead. and you see me standing here right now as the mayor of san francisco.

>> and that was current mayor london breed, who you just heard from speaking at her watch party last night. breed says she is vowing to go the distance on this one, and she knows it is a distance with the way the voting system works here in san francisco. saying that she only won by 2500 votes years ago. no, in a statement posted to x overnight, laurie said his campaign was over, thanking his supporters for making phone calls, knocking on doors no matter the outcome of this election, both candidates are urging everyone to be patient during this vote count, which they believe could take several days. live in san francisco. lena howland, abc seven news. >> okay. thank you. lena. the mood was not so upbeat at mayoral hopeful mark farrell's election night party in the marina district. farrell addressed his supporters, conceding and talking about supporting the city's next mayor. >> and i want that person to succeed. i mean that sincerely. i said that when i left office

before as mayor to mayor breed, and they mean that authentically and incredibly sincerely to whoever is the next mayor. and i want to make sure that san francisco moves forward in a different direction. i think it's critically important for our city. i can't wait for our future. >> farrell says he will continue to fight for san francisco, but not in public office. >> across the bay, voters had to decide on two major recall elections. oakland mayor shengtao and alameda county district attorney pamela price. the latest count shows price appears to be on the way out. you can see yes, for the recall, 65% of the vote, with 39% of the results in. price has been accused of being too soft on crime. so what happens now if in fact, price is recalled? alameda county board of supervisors will appoint an interim da and that person will serve until 2026, when voters will decide again. there will be an election, and whoever wins that will serve for two years until 2028. now let's get to the oakland mayor, xiang tao. she also appears

to be losing her job, 65% of voters saying that they want her to be recalled with 36% of the results in tao. facing similar criticism to da price. voters say tao is too soft on crime. she also faces criticism about the city's historic budget deficit. gloria is tracking the potential next steps and how mayor is responding. >> good morning reggie aqui. if mayor sheng tao is recalled, she will have to step down. once the results are certified, the president of the city council will step in as the interim mayor. a special election has to be called 120 days from when tao steps down. despite the results showing, tao will likely beults recalled. she says she is proud of what she's accomplished as mayor. >> i don't have any regrets because you know i am a mayor first, right? mayor fought first and foremost, and so i'm really excited about our positive homicide numbers. we're headed into the seventh week with zero homicides. we haven't seen these kind of results in the city of

oakland for decades. i can'tof remember the last time. no one could remember the last time we had these kind of results. we know that the strategy we're utilizing is working. we've also invested in 9-1-1 dispatch. that means more calls are being answered and that people are not being put on hold or given a busy signal. and so we know that our strategy is working and we want to continue to do the work. >> right now, the city of oakland is facing $63 million in budget cuts that have already started, and it's also facing a $120 million structural deficit. live in the studio, gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> all right. good morning. gusty winds fueling the fire risk as low pressure drops to the south of us. that was all that cloud cover yesterday. high pressure building in. once it does. the winds are going to ease late today, but still under a red flag. warning through early tomorrow morning. you notice the gusts out there and our wind advisory upper elevations where we're looking at winds over 60 miles an hour, not only in the north bay but also in the south bay. so surface

winds anywhere from 15 to over 35 miles an hour with 38 miles an hour out by the delta and looking at the upper elevations. yes. verifying to over 60 miles an hour from the north bay into the south bay. and in between here, the oakland hills, 33 mile an hour wind gusts. so we'll see these winds continue to increase. here we are at 5:00. the timeline through 8:00. notice the purples here from the north bay mountains out through the delta. and then as for 9:00, 10:00, we're still in that 3030 mile an hour range at noontime. the winds are offshore. will continue to see the breezy conditions, but it's the second half of the day. they'll begin to ease up a little bit. but remember we've had these winds now for going on 40 36 hours. and that atmosphere is bringing that dry air to the surface and allowing for certainly the risk of fires spreading. and you can feel it right, your skin as you breathe the air. it's like being in the desert here, 12% relative humidity today.

and as we get into your thursday morning, not much of a recovery. and by tomorrow afternoon, even though the winds have lightened up and they're going to begin to see an onshore flow at the coast, we are still looking at that 10% dry relative humidity in inland valley. so today it will be sunny, sunnier than it was yesterday. the winds, breezy, temperatures in the low 70s and the accuweather seven day forecast. our red flag warning continues through tomorrow morning. we still have critical fire weather right on through early friday. then we'll see a return to a light sea breeze, a chance of a shower late on saturday. we'll get more relief in terms of moisture in the atmosphere over the weekend, but looking at that level one system on monday to really bring us some relief and feeling more like fall. >> thanks, lisa. this morning we continue to break down election night. we're keeping our eyes on a number of local and state races, but for now, we'll leave you with more of these election results.

and adam schiff is predicted to be our next u.s. senator. you can see he's well ahead ofyou republican steve garvey, 57 to 43, with about 56% already being reported. schiff spoke to supporters at his victory party in los angeles last night. he spoke about the late senator dianne feinstein. she held the job for more than three decades before her death last year. >> nobody will be able to fill dyan's immense shoes, but her memory will be my guide and tonight i am so humbled to be your next united states senator. thank you. california.

>> his first orders of business, protecting abortion access and dealing with the states affordability crisis. >> results are coming in for the bay area's most contentious congressional race, from a three way tie and a recount to a tense back and forth between two democrats. the race to represent the south bay's 16th district has been a roller coaster, so here's where it stands this morning. sam liccardo has a solid lead over evan low 6040 right now. liccardo spoke to us last night about what his first term in congress could look lik. >> yeah, i mean, look, i don't want to get out in front of myself. i'm not naive about the fact there would be a whole lot easier for me if president harris were in office, rather than a president trump. but one way or another, we've got to find ways to actually work on getting something done in congress rather than what we've seen over the last session, which has been the least productive congress in more than half a century. and that's going to require all of us to swallow our pride a little bit and

actually try to find some common ground. >> evan low is remaining hopeful, despite liccardo's lead. he is waiting for all those votes to be counted. >> this election proved that every single vote counts, that every single vote counts, and that young people and that young people will make sure that their voices are heard. and so the night is young friends, we have been here before on election night, and the night is young. many votes to be counted, many ballots to be counted. and i know that we all were working hard and making sure that we were doing the hard work and getting out the vote all the way up until 759. >> liccardo and low are looking to make history in the race. if elected, liccardo would be the first latino member of congress representing northern california in over 120 years. and low would be the first openly lgbtq member

of congress to represent the bay area. >> turning now to the results of our state propositions californians voted on the future of things like marriage rights for all, rent control and increased penalties on certain crimes. and gloria is tracking those election results. this morning. gloria. >> good morning. yeah. we want to take a look at some of the california proposition results from overnight. we're going to start with prop three and amend the state constitution to recognize the fundamental right to marry, regardless of sex or race. and it removes language in the california constitution that says marriage is only between a man and a woman. and you could see the results right here. so far, with 52% of the vote in, we have 61% saying yes, 39% saying no. and we're going to move over to proposition 33. and it aimed to expand local governments ability to enact rent control to more types of housing. it's the most expensive proposition, with all sides spending over $100 million. and keep in mind, similar proposals

failed to pass in 2018 and 2020. and you can see here with 52% of the vote in yes right now, 38% no, 62% almost. so that's been pretty interesting. now we're going to go over to proposition 36. and right now we have 52% of the vote here in. and you could see this is an overwhelming yes 70%. and no 29%. this of course is a proposition that increases the penalties for retail crime and some drug offenses. it is very tough on crime increasing penalties for repeat offenders of theft and drug related crimes. so again you could see overwhelming. yes, 70% on this one. no, 29% for proposition 36. but again, this is 52% of the vote. so we're going to continue tracking this for you throughout the morning. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. we have a red flag warning continuing today as the

alignment of low pressure to the south of us and high pressure trying to build in, allowing for some very gusty winds, surface winds anywhere from about 22 miles an hour in oakland to about 25 mile. >> mile an hour gusts in san jose. you can see napa and fairfield over 30 miles an hour. and look at the upper elevations. we've got winds from 56 miles an hour in the north bay, mount tam, 40 miles an hour, oakland hills over 30. and how about mount amana? last hour gusting to 63 miles an hour. so the next several hours, the winds continue to ramp up. it's not going to be until the second half of the day where we see these winds ease. so this is noontime and we still have those gusts and the purples in play here. and that's why we have the wind advisory throughout the afternoon. north bay interior mountains. but you can see the rest of us still quite breezy. here it is 3:00. and then the evening hours will be will feature the lighter winds. but the dry air stays in place today, about 12% relative humidity at 3:00 in the afternoon. usually we

get a big recovery overnight with the longer nights and that radiational cooling. but as we get into your thursday morning, we're only at 20% in vallejo. and then once again, a very dry thursday afternoon. that red flag warning expiring in the morning 50s and 60s with the breeze out there, that is anywhere from seven to about 15 degrees warmer than yesterday. with that wind with us all night long. so high fire danger through tomorrow. the windy pattern dry, gusty offshore winds and then looking at a cooler weekend with shower chances. a slight chance over the weekend and more rain likely with a level one on monday. take a look at the colors blossoming through noontime here. this is very high index for fire and as the winds continue to blow, we'll see that possibility not only in the north bay but throughout. really, the entire bay under the red flag warning. so keep that in mind. be very careful out there. temperatures with the northerly winds are once again above average in the

of course, we'll have to see how ranked choice plays out. >> number four in alameda county, both district attorney pamela price and oakland mayor shang tao are facing recalls. the numbers are showing. both will be forced out of their jobs. >> number five californians have decided to increase the penalties for theft and drug crimes. proposition 36 is passing by an overwhelming majority more than 70%. >> number six, a red flag warning continues with gusty winds, even stronger for the first half of the day. upper elevations winds over 60 miles an hour. >> and number seven traffic is getting crowded on the east shore freeway. the westbound drive is 33 minuts from highway four. as you makets your way into san francisco. also, just a heads up, there is a car fire in the san mateo are. county area highway 35 right off 92, blocking lanes. >> all right. happening now. p-g-and-e's has shut off power in parts of the bay area because of dangerous wildfire

conditions. >> let's look at the outage map. you're going to see purple triangles all over the north bay and even working their way south. that represents outages that started last night. after 7 p.m. they will go into the afternoon in some areas. p-g-and-e's says several thousand people in the bay area may lose power to prevent fires. the highest impact in napa and solano counties. >> san jose police today are expected to address the arrest of san jose city council member omar torres. torres was arrested yesterday. he also resigned from office. torres is under investigation for sending sexually explicit text messages to a minor. he has claimed the messages were fantasy and he had no intentions of doing anything. san jose mayor matt mehan talked to us last night about what's next. >> the council has a choice to make in the coming weeks between a special election and an appointment. once we know the method by which we will fill the office, we will lay out a timeline for everyone that will be prepared by our city clerk so that everyone has transparency

the ballots are still being counted as we await more results from our local elections. now, at 530, the mayoral race in san francisco, not looking good for mayor breed. >> this morning, voters in the east bay appear to be voting in

favor of two recall efforts. what oakland mayor shane tao had to say as the results started coming in. >> we're going to fix our borders. we're going to fix everything about our country and we made history for a reason tonight. and the reason is going to be just that a promise to help the country heal. >> donald trump, elected as the 47th president of the united states. >> good morning everyone. it is wednesday, november 6th. >> of course, a lot of election results to get to, but we also have some important weather conditions to let you know about. it is very windy outside. lisa. >> yes, reggie. and we are looking at the winds right now. well, actually the wind, the red flag warning which really confirms that how gusty and how dry it is right now, the advisory up until 3:00 this afternoon. but you know, we're seeing gusts of over 60 miles an hour. mount umunhum. and in the south bay. so at the surface winds, anywhere from 22 miles that gusts there in oakland to over 30 in livermore. but upper elevations, you notice with

the purples here, 57 mile an hour wind and also into the south bay. so this continues through the morning hours, the early afternoon. and we stop this right now for the current relative humidity, which is already down to 24% in santa rosa, 30% in livermore. so throughout the afternoon, we'll continue to see the atmosphere dry out 50s and 60s right now. and with that wind that fuels the possibility of that fire risk, for sure. so into the morning hours, we've got plenty of sunshine, upper 60s noontime breezy to gusty winds, in fact very windy conditions, upper elevations and that wind advisory taking us through the afternoon. so temperatures will be in the 70s. lots of sunshine out there. and we will look for slightly lighter winds later on tonight. but still we will not recover in terms of getting back to normal with that moisture in the atmosphere. really until friday and the weekend. francis. >> all right, lisa, we have a traffic alert that just

came up right now in san mateo county. apparently it's a box truck engulfed and the fire department is trying to put the fire out. this is on highway 92, right near highway 35. and they're saying traffic is stopped in the area. so we'll keep you posted on this and how long it will take to clear it. in addition to that, there's another big rig accident. as you make your way towards fairfield westbound 12. before that, branscombe, just south of travis air force base, there's a big rig that apparently has some power lines down on the roadway. traffic is slow through the area, but as wew you, the south bay live shot of 101 and 880. so far, no problems there for headlights moving northbound up the peninsula and 101 also looking good across the golden gate bridge. reggie. amanda. all right. francis. >> thank you. back to that breaking news in the presidential election. donald trump projected to be the next president of the united states. >> and this was decisive. the race called very early this morning. this was not something that is going to last hours and

hours. in fact, we knew pretty early on last night that this was going in his direction. let's take a look at the electoral college. of course, whoever gets to 70. well, this is just just the popular vote, but you can see that donald trump wins that. and it looks like he is going to get both. so the popular vote and the electoral college, whoever gets the two 71st wins. and as you can see right now, with some votes still out there to be counted, donald trump with 279 and vice president harris with 223. >> reaction has been coming in from around the world overnight, french president emmanuel macron posting to x that he's, quote, ready to work together. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu sharing congratulations on history's greatest comeback and ukrainian president zelenskyy called trump's victory impressive. ukrainian residents saying they hope the u.s. will continue to support them in their fight against russia. >> we cannot say for sure whether uh. one or the candidate will be beneficial for

ukraine. we should build a good relationship with anyone who will win and whom american people will choose. >> several other leaders from countries like turkey, south korea, india and pakistan are congratulating trump. all say they look forward to deepening their partnerships with the u.s. and overnight, trump thanked supporters after winning pennsylvania, a state both campaigns considered a must win, of course. abc news reporter christiane cordero joins us live with more on his speech. good morning. christiane. >> hey, amanda, good morning to you. so it was a convincing night for republican candidates up and down the ballot, both presidential candidates kicked off their watch parties last night. only one watch party went into the morning. this morning. the american people have elected its 47th president of the united states. reelecting donald trump, hours before the race was called and moments after securing battleground pennsylvania, trump stepped on stage in front of a raucous crowd of supporters and declared victory. >> we overcame obstacles that

nobody thought possible and it is now clear that we've achieved the most incredible political thing. look what happened. is this crazy? but it's a political victory that trump's path to victory went through. >> battlegrounds north carolina, georgia, wisconsin and pennsylvania considered a must win for both candidates. at howard university in washington, d.c, harris's watch party started with music and dancing, but turned chilly when the crowd was dismissed. with no appearance from the vp. >> she will be back here tomorrow to address not only the hu family, not only to address our supporters, but to address the nation. so thank you. we believe in you down the ballot in some states, enshrining the right to abortion access. >> it passed in nevada, arizona and missouri. a similar measure failed in florida, which has one of the nation's strictest abortion bans. it needed a 60% majority to pass. florida's has

become the first abortion related ballot initiative to fail since the supreme court overturned roe versus wade. now in the congressional races, republicans have regained control of the senate, flipping several seats. their control of the house of representatives is still up for grabs. guys, back to you, chris. >> john. thank you. closer to home, trump supporters held a watch party in contra costa county. they cheered as the results for battleground states slowly came in, declaring trump the winner. >> i feel great, i'm excited we're all excited and we're just we're just excited for the next chapter for our country. pennsylvania was the crux because trump couldn't win. with north carolina, georgia, arizona, nevada, he needed one of the blue state, the blue firewall states, and harris couldn't win without all those states.

work together. no matter the outcome of this election. now at his watch party last night, he said he is hoping for a victory in the san francisco mayor's race. his supporters were pumped about his early lead in the vote count, which right now stands at about 7700 votes so far this morning. but keep in mind lowry has never held public office. he is the founder of a san francisco nonprofit, not to mention heir to the levi strauss fortune. lowry is vowing to bring change to the city, but he says it won't happen overnight, and the realities of everyday life. >> people don't see themselves as progressives or moderates or conservatives, renters or homeowners, bicyclists or car drivers. we see ourselves as san franciscans, and it's never it's never been more clear to me that so many people love this city. and it's time for us to start making people feel like the city

during this vote count, which they believe could take several days. live in san francisco. lena howland, abc seven news. >> there are two recalls we are following in the east bay. first, alameda county district attorney pamela price. you can see it's 65% to 35%, right now. to recall her, oakland mayor shantel also facing recall. and it is exactly the same. both talent price have faced criticism of not being tough enough on crime. abc seven news reporter anser hassan spoke with mayor last night as these results were coming in. >> the numbers are in 65% of voters voting to recall alameda county district attorney pamela price. the same number 65%amela voting to recall oakland mayor shengtao, da price, and mayor tao. both accused of being soft on crime. i spoke with former alameda county superior court judge brenda harbin forte, herself running for oakland city attorney. she led the recall effort against mayor tao. she says she believes in criminal justice reform, but that da

price needed to do more to show that criminals were being held accountable. as for the city of oakland, it faces a historic deficit, potentially $63 million in budget cuts that have to be made in the coming weeks. but judge brenda believes that the new mayor, a new mayor who will be elected, can come in and lead the city. >> absolutely depends on who it is. you know, we have at least one former city council person who has expressed an interest in running. if that person wins, he'll have probably as much experience as xiang tao has had in the budget. and again, she's been a disaster in managing the budget. >> oakland mayor shengtao spoke a short while ago. she says she is proud of what she's been able to accomplish in oakland. i don't have any regrets because, you know, i am a mayor first, right? >> mayor ford, first and foremost. and so i'm really excited about our positive homicide numbers. we're headed into the seventh week with zero homicides. we haven't seen these kind of results in the city of oakland for decades. i can't remember the last time. no one could remember the last time we

had these kind of results. we know that the strategy we're utilizing is working. we've also invested in 9-1-1 dispatch. that means more calls are being answered and that people are not being put on hold or given a busy signal. and so we know that our strategy is working and we want to continue to do the work. >> so what happens next in the da's race? the alameda county board of supervisors will appoint an interim da who will serve until 2026. there will be an election. whoever wins will serve until 2028. as for oakland, mayor shengtao has to step down once the results are certified. the president of the city council will step in and serve as interim mayor. a special election has to be called 120 days from when mayor tao steps down in oakland, anser hassan. abc seven news. >> voters in san francisco appear to be in favor of a plan to close the upper great highway along ocean beach after the break. the latest results on prop k and other local measures here in the bay area. but first to check on the weather with

lisa. >> okay, 641 the sunrise and the winds are going to get stronger under a red flag warning and wind advisory as high pressure sits offshore. current winds at the surface. you won't be surprised to see over 20 miles an hour, even up to 33 miles an hour. it has been blowing offshore all night long and upper elevations over 60 miles an hour in spots. right now, 57 mile an hour wind up to the north up in napa. mount umunhum 56 mile an hour wind gusts. we'll continue to see the winds increase, fueling the risk for fire danger throughout the morning hours. at 10:00. the winds still 37 miles an hour to 40. these purples continue to stay with us for the first half of the day. it's the second half of the day when we'll begin to see the winds lighten up. our wind advisory expires throughout the afternoon, but you'll notice 7:00 it's still quite gusty. the winds coming from the land to the sea, and that component will continue to see the relative humidity drop off into the teens here. 12% in hayward, 13% sonoma. we wake up thursday

of the great highway near ocean beach. we know results on prop k show with 100% precincts reporting, 53% in favor of doing so, 47% voting no. for more o measure k, we do turn to gloria, who is at the live desk for us this morning with more on this. good morning gloria. >> good morning amanda. yeah. you know, measure k certainly caused tension in the outer district between residents who disagree on this topic. and this measure is all about closing the great highway permanently. it's something that was done temporarily during the pandemic. and since then, the great highway has been shut down on the weekends, allowing people to ride bikes and also engage in recreational activities. people in favor of the measure argue that as the great highway

erodes, it's going to have to close. supporters want to get ahead of that issue and close this part of the highway down in order to open it up to people looking to enjoy the space. those who oppose measure k, though, have a very different view. >> i think that it's an incomplete idea. i think that the traffic is too. it's too bad during the week, unless there is a solution for the congestion, it doesn't make sense. >> and you heard that voter who told us he cast a no vote on the measure, and he added that his decision was largely pointed to the traffic being diverted into the neighborhood. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> we are under a red flag warning, which is certainly verified with the surface winds over 20 miles an hour in oakland, over 35 miles an hour out by the delta, and you can see half moon bay and san jose. those gusty winds, upper elevations 60 miles an hour. mount

results in another local ballot measure in san francisco, school leaders are trying to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade school facilities. >> proposition a would allow cash strapped san francisco unified to issue $790 million in bonds, 100% of the votes are in this needed 55% to pass, and it did so with no problem. the yes votes with 73% of the turnout of the vote coming in san francisco's proposition l stands to benefit another agency in struggling financially completely. >> if passed, it would tax rideshare companies like uber and lyft trying to boost muni's budget. proposition l, we know, is one of the few grassroots measures on the city's ballot, with 100% precincts reporting, 56% have voted yes, 44 for no. we know in order to pass prop l, it will need to get more votes than proposition m, since part of its bill would nullify any tax that gets fewer votes.
