5-1. tennessee, a chance to get back up to 6-2. alabama who beat georgia. ole miss beat georgia. going to be complicated. >> kirk: and it's going to come down to the tiebreakers and head to head and different things they'll figure out. doesn't it feel good if you're georgia, after a win like this, sitting there at 6-2, and just kind of sit back and see how the next couple weeks go. >> chris: the vols with this loss, looking at the analytics, not a very good chance to make the s.e.c. championship game. the loser of this almost had no chance. the playoff is another conversation. we'll have to wait and see. >> kirk: oh, yeah. there's still -- who knows, but you would think very much alive if they are able to win their last two games. utep and vandy. 10-2 with a win over alabama. that's a pretty strong resume, when you compare them to other teams that will probably be chasing an at large bid. and they didn't embarrass themselves. they had a 10-0 lead in athens. >> chris: we talked about carson beck and these seniors.

you lose tonight, career could just about be over. you win tonight, you win two more, you get one of those playoff bids, and kirby smart's dogs, a team when they get healthy in a few weeks, team that nobody really wants to play. >> kirk: no. when carson beck gets it going, that offensive line plays well -- the way they can run the football. remember, their best playmaker on offense didn't even play tonight in etienne. >> chris: he's going to be out for awhile. we hope that it's not a long absence for dillon bell, who was in a boot, as holly reported, after being taken to the locker room, so -- he's been a key component, but the dogs do find a way. total team win. held tennessee to just 17 points after scoring ten in that first quarter. let's go to laura with kirby smart. >> laura: thank you, chris. coach, you wanted to see which team would be tougher,

especially in the fourth quarter. turns out it was your team. what can you say about the bulldogs tonights? >> man, i want to give all your people credit. they picked the right team tonight, so, when they didn't, we said that. when they did, i want to say that, too. i want to thank the fans. incredible atmosphere. this is special. >> laura: it absolutely was. you mentioned carson beck. how about the game plan and the way that he executed that offensively? >> beautiful. beautiful. look, we got good players. we got good offensive coordinator, we got a good quarterback. it's hard to play on the road in this league. i keep saying that. we don't question ourselves from the inside-out. we got great competitors, had three true freshmen backs have to play tonight and they did great. >> laura: in a week when there's been a lot of conversation about your tough schedule, playing on the road, the struggles you've had, but also some of the positive moments, what do you think you showed the committee tonight? >> well, i don't know, because i don't know what they look for. i really don't know what they

look for anymore. i would welcome anybody to come down to this league and play in this environment. >> laura: well said. >> thank you, go dogs. >> laura: holly has carson beck. >> holly: carson, we talked to you this week and you said you stood up in front yof our team monday and say the playoffs start this week. how did you find the best version of yourself tonight? >> oh, man. first and foremost, i mean, i'm so thankful for this team, i'm so thankful for the way we fight and stay composed, and no matter what situation, a win, a loss, if we come out in the first half slow, we just keep pushing. man, gosh, it feels so good to play for this team. i'm so thankful for the opportunity to get to lead these guys. when i play for them that's the best version of myself. as much as i can do that and play for the guys around me, i just love them. >> holly: it looked like this was a team that was having fun tonight. how did you get the juice and just kind of let it rip? >> yeah, sometimes you get caught up in the day-to-day

work, and, i mean, we've been going at it since january. we got two weeks off after we played florida state last year and we were right back to work and i think, you know, the work of it all, you get caught up in that and i said that when i stood up in front of the team, i said, let's just go have fun. let it loose. we don't have anything to lose at this point. we've dropped a couple games, it is what it is. but we control our destiny, we control our future. have juice, come into this game, have fun and play for each other. >> holly: you didn't want this to be one of the last games you play here, and in this georgia uniform. how are you guys playing for the older guys on the team and everything that's ahead of you? >> yeah, there's a few guys that came in with me, there's truss and dan that were a year before me, i mean, they're old, but i mean, i'm old, too, it's okay. man, i'm just so proud of the team and the way we fought tonight. on the biggest stage, you know, "college gameday," night game against top ten opponent. i couldn't ask for a better ending. >> holly: i need a shoutout to the tight ends. they were great. >> tight ends are amazing.

delp showed up huge tonight. luckie had a few plays. huge play to be able to drive down and close that thing out. they stepped up in a tremendous way tonight. >> holly: go enjoy the moment. thank you. >> yes, ma'am, thank you. >> chris: the voice is gone, but he's got a night he's not going to forget. it dwan slowly. they punted the first three possessions, then got going. >> kirk: he really got into a flow. i think there was a scramble that changed the entire feel and vibe of this game, it's where they got some momentum. then he just started f ed findi receivers. legs were a big factor tonight. number of different scrambles. there was a third and eight earlier. ran out of a would be tackler, ran over a safety. you just heard him talk with holly. he's got some conviction. all this adversity that he's been through, it's changed him, i think, and made him better, to be able to deal with it in the future. and this becomes a dangerous team down the road. >> chris: absolutely.

umass and georgia tech on this field. unlikely still at this point to get to atlanta, but then, if you make the playoff and don't have to play in atlanta, you get to rest up until late december and i think georgia, when they get some pieces back, will be even tougher to beat. >> i think it was just a -- they were backed into a corner. they had to win this game. they got down ten. the crowd was out of the game. tennessee deserved all the credit for coming into here, into this environment and then they started to piece it together and it created some momentum, so -- they salvaged their season. they lose this one, it's over. the dreams are over. they win and it jumps them in a different place. interesting to see where the committee puts them tuesday. but this is a team that's going to have a great chance to go from everybody saying, they're out of the playoff, to, they're going to host a playoff game. >> chris: the computers have tilted, and georgia given a 91% chance now to make the cfp. oregon survived, come from

behind to win wisconsin. indiana, the big showdown at ohio state. win or lose, you think the hoosiers are in good position. ditto for the buckeyes. >> kirk: yeah, yeah. i think how indiana plays next week in columbus will be a big deal, i think they need to go in there and compute. show that they're the team that a lot of us think they are. but yeah, it's -- that's what's cool about this. 12-team playoff. a lot changes, a lot can happen. just when you think you have an idea of where a team sits, new results come in and all of a sudden, computer percentages change. >> chris: we have the super conferences expanding, the playoff expanding, n.i.l., the portal. it's been a crazy season. alabama's got must-win games at norman next week, and then, of course, after thanksgiving, the aggies and the longhorns collide in college station. georgia, a crucial victory, as the stretch run in the s.e.c. continues. except on the west coast, stay tuned for your local news over most of these abc stations.
