lot of times. >> i've never seen it this bad. >> and within five minutes our yard was two feet deep. >> we have team coverage tracking our first significant storm of the season with days of rain still to come tonight on abc seven news at 11. >> always live abc seven news starts right now. >> roads and creeks in the north bay overwhelmed tonight with two days of rain. adding up. flooded roads all over the place are causing problems and the wet weather is far from over. good evening. >> i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. thanks for joining us. this storm coming in at a two on our storm impact scale for the north bay. with all of that water flooding roads and triggering mudslides in the sierra, it's dumping plenty of snow. >> and abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking this atmospheric river, about to bring us another day of rain. sandhya. this time the entire bay area should see rain. >> that's right. and all of the bay area is not only going to get soaked, but we're going to see problems here in the bay area. so let's start first with the lull in the action right

now. good evening to you all. live doppler seven showing you just a few showers still falling in the north bay at this hour, but nothing like earlier today. we have seen heavy rain the last two days, with the atmospheric river parked right over the north bay. so a flood warning has been issued for tomorrow for the russian river at guerneville. it is expected to flood. minor flooding is expected there. flood advisories are still going as streams and creeks are running high. roadway flooding is happening. this is going for the entire north bay until saturday morning. you will notice the areas shaded in the darker green is a flood watch. also, the russian river at hopland and the navarro river at navarro. also expected to exceed flood stage with minor flooding expected. where warnings are up, it is a level two on our exclusive abc seven news storm impact scale. as you look at live doppler seven, that atmospheric river is finally going to move and we're going to feel the effects of it tomorrow morning. it's going to be pouring in the north bay. the

commute begins as a stormy one into the afternoon. you will notice that that rain is intensifying even into the east bay, the south bay, and the santa cruz mountains. level two. on our exclusive abc seven news storm impact scale. expect downpours, gusty winds, thunder chance and dangerous surf will continue to pound the coast. it is windy right now over the hills, over 50 mile an hour. gusts at the lower elevations. we are talking about gusts to 25 in santa rosa and only getting stronger. i'll be back with a full look at the timeline, which includes. what part of your weekend is going to be wet? >> dan. okay, sandy, thanks a lot. what a week we are having. well, in the north bay, hopper creek in yountville has jumped its banks and is causing flooding. this is what it looked like at oak circle tonight. you can see the water just rushing down the street again. a flood watch was issued for parts of napa county, and it will remain in effect until saturday morning. >> sonoma county is also seeing those flooded roads and some spots. the water is starting to swallow up the flooded signs. power outages caused by downed trees have many families

spending a night in the dark. abc seven news reporter j.r stone joins us live from rohnert park, where a creek is rising high tonight. j.r. what are the conditions like right now? >> ama the rain is still coming down, but it's only a sprinkle at this point. and it's been this way for the last few hours or so. that's something that couldn't be said earlier today, last night or even yesterday. so that is certainly good news. i'm near the hooters restaurant, also near the costco in this area where the creek levels rose, but it appears to be receding. more rain falling in the north bay, and those who live here are starting to get a little tired of it. >> i love rain, but this is a little much. >> reporter yes, ten plus inches in certain spots of santa rosa in less than 48 hours. probably qualifies as a little much. this video, though, came from rohnert park, where there has also been a little much. it's led to drivers having to determine should i go through the flooded

area or turn around? >> we've never had this much rain, so i had two sump pumps running and we have no power, so i'm really worried that that we might say hello to some rain, some water in the house. >> gretchen risch's home is without electricity, just like these homes. >> it's been intense. a lot of rain. we have quite a bit of water in our backyard and a little bit of flooding, but luckily we're on a hill, so it all tends to drain down into the streets. >> as bad as the flooding and rain can be at times, it's always the kids with that glass half full kind of attitude. >> okay, so we don't have electricity. it's been out for an hour and a half. we've just put a fire out and been having trying to have fun. i prefer having the power. this guy probably wants the power too. >> what is it that you miss so much when you don't have electricity? i really want to watch the tv, but her big

bad as this time. last night. no outage is impacting more than 1000 customers right now. but p-g-and-e's crews are certainly staying busy. as you can see on this map, flooding in the parking lot forced the evacuation of a medical center and a hotel in santa rosa. >> today, patients and staff were able to leave the sutter health facility smoothly. a spokesperson says no one was trapped in the flooding, did not reach inside the building. some people staying at hampton inn and suites across from the center had more trouble trying to get out with their cars stuck in the rising water and a number of schools and school districts are closed tomorrow in sonoma county because of the weather. some have damage because of flooding, downed trees and road closures, closures, some as precautionary. if you have a kid in that area wondering about school tomorrow, you can find the entire list on our website, abc7 news dot com. >> it was the second day in a row of interruptions at san francisco international airport. if you're traveling this week, keep an eye out for changes. today. there was an average ground delay of three hours because of the winds. of course,

there were more than 500 delayed flights today and close to 90 flight cancellations in the sierra. the weather is causing other travel difficulties. drivers on 8-80 were urged to slow down and watch for crews tonight as they work to clear a big rig stuck in a snow bank. north star and ski resorts just opened for the season. more resorts open tomorrow. farther north, the snow is also piling high near mount shasta. the sheriff says crews had to make two rescues in the region today. stick with abc seven for up to the minute updates as the next storm rolls in tomorrow. the abc seven news bay area app gives you access to the same live doppler seven tools our weather team uses. download the app and be sure to turn on the notifications for important updates. >> we'll have a little more on the weather in the full forecast in a moment, but let's move on for the time being. new developments tonight with the embattled san mateo county sheriff. five captains in the department are sharing a letter calling on sheriff christina corpus to resign over misconduct allegations. this comes as county supervisor ray mueller shared new evidence today,

including screenshots of homophobic texts he says were sent from corpus phone and details on a concerning request by the sheriff's former chief of staff. >> this week, we saw a november 14th memo from undersheriff dan pereira to the sheriff summarizing a highly unusual set of circumstances. the county is in possession of that document. of that memo, and we have corroborating evidence for that memo. >> mueller says the san mateo county undersheriff reported victor j. corpus alleged boyfriend asking who changed the code on a lockbox holding rifles and silencers. i j was not allowed to have access to those weapons, telling the undersheriff, quote, this is how they are going to get me. sheriff corpus has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and insists she will not resign. >> president elect donald trump's cabinet is already

seeing a shakeup. controversial nominee matt gaetz withdrew from the role of attorney general amid sexual misconduct allegations he's out of a job, having already vacated his seat in congress. trump was quick to name a replacement pam bondi, a former florida attorney general. trump's pick for defense secretary is also battling controversy. pete hegseth is an army vet and a fox news anchor. he was investigated for sexual assault in monterey back in 2017 but was never charged. he claims the encounter was consensual. i'll keep this very simple. >> the matter was fully investigated and i was completely cleared. >> and that's what i'm going to leave. >> texas attorney says hegseth paid a settlement to the woman to keep her from going public. so it wouldn't hurt his career in tv. >> governor newsom announced new economic development programs today, holding his first news conference since the election. the governor visited fresno, a county. president elect trump won, sharing details on a job growth initiative for the central valley. he acknowledged economic pains that families are

yeah. it was. it was a good rescue. i was really i was stoked. >> he was super chill. she was super brave. a teenage lifeguard was in the right place at the right time today, when a surfer got caught in some rough surf in pacifica. so 18 year old zoe chait was surfing there this afternoon and noticed just a flurry of first responders. she immediately knew something was wrong and wasted. no time jumping in to help. >> there are actually two. they

were super far out. the one guy made it in and i could barely even see him how far he was. and i went and checked with the firefighters and they told me just i had this in my car and my booty and fins and i just like, went out. i knew i could do it and was stoked to pull him in. >> how about zoe? she says she swam to shore while tugging the surfer on his board. that man was not hurt and very grateful. >> san francisco mayor london breed flipped the switch tonight to light up the embarcadero center. this is a holiday tradition made up of over 17,000 lights. tonight's event also kicked off the holiday market. >> well, with the holiday shopping season upon us, san francisco is doing what it can to encourage people to come to union square. there are already additional officers and community ambassadors in that area. the mayor says they have a simple mission make people feel safe, but the goal is to make sure that from the garage where you park or the bus where you get off, or the uber or lyft

yesterday. i mean, that's a lot of rain. i mean, we were talking about occidental at 15in. it's almost like the amount of rain that you would expect for the entire year. just under that at healdsburg. 80/600 in orinda. starting to add up in pacifica an inch and saratoga 40/100 of an inch. here are some other rainfall totals. more than 11in in santa rosa yesterday. over a half a foot setting daily and all time record for santa rosa airport. three quarters of an inch in san francisco, a quarter in oakland, more than four inches there in napa, over half a foot in san rafael. but you'll notice only a few hundredths in concord, livermore, san jose. not measuring. that's all changing come tomorrow. live doppler seven showing you a very quiet picture. there are some pockets of moderate rain right around the north bay fort ross road. street level radar showing you that rain. this is a temporary lull. look at all the storm reports over the last 24 hours, we've had dozens of reports from flooding to wind damage, heavy rain. we're going to be seeing all of these things all over again. but this time

tomorrow, we're looking at the entire bay area tomorrow morning through the evening where the problems could occur. here's why. atmospheric river that has been stalled out over the north bay is finally going to move. there's an area of low pressure that has formed that's going to push it along, and it's going to bring widespread rain. so do be prepared. there's even the possibility of thunderstorms. sfo camera right now it is a little bit of a slippery runway out there. a wind advisory in effect for these areas shaded until 10 p.m. tomorrow. gusts to 50 miles an hour higher over the higher elevations means more downed trees. and a few outages are certainly possible. not as strong of winds as we're expecting. the last round, but it is going to be gusty as we head into 5 a.m. over 35 miles an hour, stronger over the higher terrain. almost 40 there in half moon bay at noontime, and the wind is going to continue to cause issues and also keep that surf going. so until 6 a.m. tomorrow, we're talking about a high surf advisory. dangerous swimming and surfing conditions around the

northern monterey bay. it's a beach hazard statement until 6 a.m. tomorrow. risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. so be careful if you want to go watch the storm coming in at the coast. 50s and 60s on those temperatures. looking at the storm impact scale tomorrow, we are expecting downpours. area wide, gusty winds, chance of thunder and dangerous surf. so we go hour by hour. the morning commute begins and here comes the downpours. 630 in the morning in the north bay. you will notice at 9 a.m. it's widespread rain, moderate to heavy across a good chunk of the area. at noontime i wouldn't even go outside because it is going to be sloppy. it continues at 4 p.m. this storm is going to deliver rain to the east and south bay. that hasn't seen a whole lot. 8:00 tomorrow night it is still coming down across the east and south bay. by 11 p.m, pushing off, but not done. saturday will have some more rain in the morning, so rainfall taking you through saturday is basically going to range anywhere from an inch to over

three inches in the santa cruz mountains, and our wetter spots are going to pick up five six inches of rain in the sierra. 4 p.m. tomorrow until 4 p.m. tuesday. above 5500ft. we're talking about a winter storm warning up to four feet for the peaks. with those gusty winds, travel is going to be difficult to impossible, so i wouldn't even try. morning 5060s. give yourself that extra time for the morning commute. you will need it. tomorrow afternoon is going to be a rough commute as well. highs will be in the 50s and 60s. it's going to be a stormy setup. accuweather seven day forecast level two tomorrow. stormy weather, early morning showers saturday. it's a one. i think the big game is looking okay. sunday. next system in the afternoon evening. it's a two only because of the cumulative effects of the saturated ground that storms. nothing like the one coming through and it's a one for monday and tuesday. by thanksgiving we do dry out and cancer is a journey you don't take alone.
