continues to slam the bay area. live doppler seven is just lit up, as you can see, as the storm is on the move. >> and as we take a live look outside, you can see the rainy conditions are widespread. this system is bringing with it strong downpours and gusty winds. >> it's a level three strong storm on our exclusive abc seven news storm impact scale. let's show you how it looks around the bay area. >> yes, in marin county, several lanes of traffic are flooded along sir francis drake boulevard. it appears a storm drain got clogged. and at last check, a worker was there. as you see, attempting to clear it as cars tried to drive around this growing puddle. >> central sonoma county is under a flood warning in rohnert park. two cars got stuck in high water on redwood drive. one person was stuck in their car. city services is currently working to mitigate flooding and close affected roads. they warn people to avoid going and driving in standing water or even going around flood signs just to dangerous. people are urged to only use 9-1-1 for emergencies as they are just overwhelmed, as you can imagine,

with calls in that area. >> take a look at what it was like in sebastopol. this afternoon. drivers there are also dealing with heavy rain and really slick roads. >> and near san francisco's glen park neighborhood, a landslide has created a real muddy mess. a hillside gave way and it's all spilling into the road and storm drains around still. and while streets, the mud is coming from an open space along interstate 280. the city sent a front loader to mitigate the slide, and an engineer will determine the cause to ensure that people are safe. they'll try to get it cleaned up as quickly as they can. the 44 and 52 muni busses are being rerouted around that area. >> flooding is a major problem with this storm. this was the scene earlier today in daly city. part of 280 near westlake avenue flooded. police blocked off part of the freeway to help drivers avoid that area. >> and look at this whirlpool in belmont creek in san mateo county. as the creek water rises, road crews are putting up signs warning drivers of these flooded roadways. it's just happening all around the bay

area and we have complete team coverage on this storm, abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking the. >> up to the minute forecast and from the south bay to the north bay, our crews are fanned out around the bay area, bringing us a look at conditions where you live. let's start in the north bay with abc seven news reporter cornell bernard. he is live from forestville, where residents are concerned about the rising russian river. cornell. >> yeah. hey, guys. three days of nonstop rain leading to a lot of flood concerns here off the russian river. in fact, we're already seeing flooding right now. this is waller road here in forestville. and at this hour, the road is totally closed. and we're also seeing a nearby vineyard that is also under water. a in guerneville, a construction site off neely road, was already flooded this morning. a bobcat was moving through clearing debris. some neighborhoods are already dealing with high water. in guerneville. the fire department

was going door to door today, checking on residents, advising them that the water will get even higher. many folks are now moving their trailer homes to higher ground before it is too late. at the surrey resort, employees were scrambling to move everything off the floor in case of a flood, which is expected this weekend. flooding has happened here before, but it's still not easy for anybody. >> today. we're just having the staff basically clear everything out and then, you know, if the floodwaters come up, you know, we'll clean up, put the tents back up before next season and we'll be ready to go. >> just like getting uprooted from your home and stuff. have to go find somewhere else to live for a few days. >> pet care, all of it. i might even probably gonna miss work tomorrow too, so that's unfortunate. >> super stressful. >> it's so stressful. it's probably the it's probably the most stress i could have. >> no evacuation orders have been issued so far, but the fire department is advising anybody who lives near flood prone

creeks, or even the russian river, to be ready to go at a moment's notice. we are seeing a lot of car water rescues happening this evening all throughout the day. in fact, people driving through closed roads like this one and getting stuck. fortunately, no one has been injured, but it's been a very busy day for the fire department. we're live in sonoma county. cornell, bernard, abc seven news. >> all right, cornell, thank you. and take a look at this video from healdsburg. a mudslide happened along buena vista drive on the side of some property. unfortunately, we may see more incidents like this as that rain becomes more widespread. so for more on the conditions, let's get to abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya. yeah. >> when you take a look at live doppler seven, you will see that we are just in the thick of it in the east bay. the peninsula. it is pounding rain now into the south bay as well. you know, san francisco has been hit hard in the east bay right now. we're getting heavy rain from oakland into san leandro. 8-80 street level radar, san francisco. it

is still steady, but as you know, we have had drenching rain across the city from the peninsula, heading all the way down to the santa cruz mountains and even into san jose. it's just a shield of heavy rain. we do have a flash flood warning until 6 p.m. for parts of the east bay this evening, as they are already seeing flash flooding. as you will notice, there are numerous watches, warnings, and advisories across a good chunk of the bay area because of the rain. we're not going to get into all the specifics. let me get you the most important things. flood warning going for the russian river at guerneville. the latest stage it's at 31.71. flood stage is 32ft. it is expected to be at flood stage and exceed that in the next hour. so minor flooding is expected. the russian river at hopland, in the navarro river at navarro. both are under flood warnings as well as they are expecting minor flooding as well. now widening the picture. the atmospheric river is just pumping that moisture into the east bay, the south bay, the city. it is a level two storm and we're not done with it yet.

so as we time it out for you, downpours will continue through the evening. you will notice the focus is in the east and south bay now, but it's a slow mover. 9 p.m. still coming down. it is a level three now. we bumped this up from a two through tonight. it's a strong storm flooding, rain, gusty winds, downed trees. certainly more outages are possible and a chance of thunder. the winds are gusty right now. spring valley 44 miles an hour. we've had higher gusts right now at sfo 32. they've been seeing delays. a wind advisory until 10 a.m. saturday that was extended. gusts to 55, the possibility of more downed trees and power lines. and as you look at a live picture there from exploratorium camera, you can certainly see the rain. numerous reports from debris flows to flooding it is really rough out there, so stay off the roads. if you can. i'll let you know how your weekend is shaping up. coming up dan? >> yeah, the roads are really dicey. no question. sandhya. thanks a lot. all right, let's turn our continuing team coverage now to the south bay.

many people there spent the earlier part of the day preparing for this afternoon and evening rain. abc7 news reporter zach fuentes is live in san jose. with more on how one of the city's biggest holiday events is preparing. despite the rain. >> yeah that's right. earlier this morning, early this afternoon, we really didn't see much rain here in the south bay. but just like sandhya is reporting, it is now getting a lot heavier here. and this is all coming. this wet weather coming as christmas in the park is being set up in san jose. it's set to open next week. we got a look at how work is being done to protect the festive structures. rain is not going to ruin this san jose holiday tradition, so we open on the day after thanksgiving on november 29th. >> the rainy days are my most favorite days in the park, because there's fewer people here and all of the lights just kind of glisten and it's just magical. so that's what i think people should come down here. >> still, precautions are taken to protect the beautiful displays. >> we're prepping for the rain. we're putting sandbags out just to protect some of our displays.

but all these displays are designed and built to be in the rain, the wind, the sun, and they're going to be just fine. >> and it's not just christmas in the park that's focused on the sandbags. valley water making sandbags like these available at stations throughout the county. they're asking residents right now to stay alert. >> we've been messaging out to the public to make sure that they're prepared. as you know, the wet season starts. so we're asking everybody to make sure that they have an emergency plan in place in case there is flooding. >> san jose resident dan mccarthy taking no chances and making sure his family doesn't either. >> my son's got a got a shed in the back that has a low point by the by the door. so i thought i'd take a little preventative action today. >> right now the hope from officials is that the rain will have as minimal of an impact as possible on residents like mccarthy and his son, and instead bring benefits. we're hopeful that this will just be good for our water supply, although we're not expecting a lot of water to go into our

reservoirs. and on that note, valley water says that it is going to continue monitoring creeks and waterways for any potential flooding. but they say they're not quite anticipating that with this storm. still, they are urging everyone to stay flood safe. live in san jose, zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> okay, zach, thank you. and the rain and wind have caused quite a travel backup at sfo. a ground delay is in effect until the airport at the airport, until 11:00 tonight. the airport has had more than 400 flights delayed and more than 60 canceled so far today. oakland and san jose's airports each have about 20 delayed flights right now, but no cancellations. the storm is causing power outages throughout the bay area. this is a live look at p-g-and-e's outage map. the green dots represent up to 50 outages. yellow means an outage of up to 500 customers. the orange represents up to 5000 outages. >> now stay with abc seven news to stay up to date with the weather conditions. you can track the weather in real time by just scanning the qr code on

your screen. right now with your phone's camera, then bookmark the page it takes you to so you can easily check the weather anytime you wish. >> also making news today. crews are still on the scene of a warehouse fire in south san francisco, started this afternoon at the facility off south canal street near spruce avenue. this is an industrial area of south san francisco. you can see you saw the flames. that thick black smoke right there just billowing from the building. there is no word yet on how it started. fortunately, though, no injuries have been reported. >> san jose boxing instructor has been arrested on sexual assault charges. 41 year old tristan arfi is accused of sex crimes against three women, and investigators suspect there could be more victims. arfi runs y b x fitness in san jose. investigators say two of the victims were customers. both say they were groped by arfi during private massages. the third was a gym employee who claims arfi refused to pay her for her work at the gym unless she agreed to send him nude photographs. new

we are days away from the start of another special legislative session in california that governor newsom called to trump proof the state. the governor says he reached out to president elect donald trump after the election but hasn't heard back. abc seven news reporter monica madden is following the story on what this might mean for the session, and california's

relationship with trump. >> this time just feels different. i try to reach out to him, couldn't get through. and then we went back and forth. i called for the special session on his iheart radio podcast called politicking. >> governor gavin newsom says he tried reaching out to president elect trump after the election. >> i'm not complaining about anything. the last person i thought he'd pick up the phone was me. >> now, california lawmakers are gearing up for another special session to guardrail the state against another trump administration. it's not welcomed by all know it's complete theater, especially after trump gained ground in california. >> california republicans are only about 2,425% of registered voters, yet donald trump got nearly 40% of the vote in california. and so it feels like donald trump has a better sense of what californians want. >> there may be a lot more trump supporters here, but that doesn't matter. i'm going to still have their backs. >> newsom, defending his stance at an unrelated press conference thursday, speaking about his relationship with trump when he was president. >> i was on the phone with him consistently late night, early morning, getting along, and he

was assaulting and attacking this state, taking money from the people of the state of california, he asserted. lawsuit after lawsuit and assault after assault. so of course, regardless of whether or not we had a big hug at mar-a-lago or not, we need to prepare for that reality. >> saying his goal is to safeguard state policies for all californians. >> i care about people and i care about protecting them, their public safety and their public health. >> just not a good idea to have, you know, an acrimonious you know, relationship between the governor and the president in the end, their their goal should be the same, which is to, you know, protect the rights of the citizens. >> specifics of the special session are still unclear. in a statement to abc seven news, a spokesperson for trump did not say if he plans to call newsom back, but did give us this statement saying, quote, the american people reelected president trump by a resounding margin, giving him a mandate to

because we've got it all covered for you. >> we sure do. our entire team, of course, led by meteorologist sandyha patel, tracking the forecast. sandy. >> yeah. dan and ama. let's take a look at live doppler seven. because that atmospheric river is stalled out over the east bay, the peninsula and the south bay. right now we are getting downpours. so we're going to get you into street level radar right around san leandro, heading into castro valley. you will notice 8-80 uh- 92 san mateo bridge into hayward, dublin. this is really a dicey situation. if you can avoid being out on the roads. san francisco to south city, we're seeing some moderate to even heavy rain down the peninsula into san mateo, belmont, san carlos. this is street level radar, old county road in belmont and down towards the south bay and the santa cruz mountains. it is pouring right now all across this region. as we get you into the south bay around 87, santa clara, benton street, getting some heavy rain. so in the last 24 hours, we've

seen quite a bit of rain, one to over three inches. but just today an inch and three quarters in san francisco. you can see why there have been so many problems. we have seen quite a bit of rain flash flood warning going until 6 p.m. just a reminder, in the east bay, they've already seen flooding and that will continue as that water runs off. so looking at live doppler seven, this atmospheric river is just aimed right at us. it's a strong event. so we're going to continue to see some action the next couple of hours. there have been some lightning strikes off the northern california coast. it is a level three, not a two. sorry about that. let's take a look at a live picture from our bay bridge camera. you can see the raindrops on the lens. a flood alerts quite a few alerts, advisories, watches and warnings are going for many parts of the bay area, so keep that in mind as you look at those temperatures right now. 40 to 60s. if you are getting away, especially with the stormy weather that's around tomorrow, you're looking at a 60% chance

of morning showers at oakland. okay, high of 60 degrees. honolulu 83. some wet weather in kona 79 degrees and 80s elsewhere for the hawaiian islands. so it's the aloha friday travel forecast through tonight. this is a level three storm. flooding, rain, gusty winds. we bumped that two to a three downed trees and outages. certainly going to be a possibility as the ground is saturated and there is a chance of thunder. so we go to 6:00 this evening. still seeing the heavy rain in the east bay, the south bay, the santa cruz mountains. this continues at 9 p.m. across many parts of the south bay. you will notice, but in the north, where you have dealt with so much rain. i mean, i was just looking at some of the totals. venado over 22in of rain in the last couple of days. now at 1030 tonight, you get that breather. but just as you're thinking this system is done, not quite. we will see some pockets of downpours. 5:00 tomorrow morning in the north bay, some scattered showers elsewhere. 7 a.m. some heavier rain around the santa cruz

mountains and in the south bay at 8 a.m. so we will continue to see a few more showers going into tomorrow morning. and here's a look at additional rain. i don't think that this is really picking up on the intensity of the rain, but anywhere from about a 10th of an inch to over an inch of additional rain. so in the last 24 hours we've seen, like i sai, one to over three inches of rain in many areas. winter storm warning 4 p.m. until 4 p.m. tuesday above 5500ft, 1 to 4ft of snow up to five feet for the peaks. it is really going to be difficult travel with chain controls. if you're thinking for the holidays, you want to go enjoy some fresh snow. the snow levels will be lowering going into tomorrow, 40s and 50s tomorrow morning. watch out for some wet weather in the morning. i think the rest of your day it's partly cloudy and isolated. shower is not out of the question. 50s and 60s. and here's a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. it's a one tomorrow morning showers some afternoon sun now sunday late in the day we'll have another level one come. it's nothing like what we're experiencing right now. a
