have a clear edge. when you have a bunch of teams in the sec, playing much tougher schedules, sitting at two or three losses, there's the debate. >> kirk: that's the debate. you're going to look at big ten teams that are going to have the record that would make you feel they deserve it. but then you're going to have other teams that have been challenged. you look at the top 25 teams, where they played and what time of the day, prime time windows on the road is tough. so it will be a very difficult subjective analysis, everybody is entitled to their opinion. and ultimately it comes down to what the committee thinks and how they'll evaluate this cluster of teams that we're going to have for these at-large picks. >> chris: one of the great programs traditionally in this sport, they dominated the big 12, year one in the sec has been rough for stutsman and company. but a sweet one on senior night as the sooners lower the boom on alabama, 24-3 is the final here. a night that these veterans and these fans will never forget in

the annual showdown i love this ensuing possession. fourth and 15 stanford has to have it. ashton daniels, the pass desperation incomplete and daniels looking for a flag that never comes his way. cal wins 2421. the bears keep the ax for the fourth straight year, and they are bowl eligible. what a win for the california golden bears and that leads us to our toyota. let's go places player of the day. and who else could it be but quarterback fernando mendoza leading the bears on that epic 98 yard drive for the win? go back to it. the fourth and six pass to andres move the chains first down and then a 36 yard strike to isaiah hunter. that's a big play. and then of course the game winner to jonathan brady got hit. what a throw. and what a catch. then a little underhanded toss to jayden for the two point conversion. as good as he was in the game winning drive mendoza even better. showing his emotions in the post-game

favorite one ever. and it is one of those rare days when we could have easily had two players a day. this afternoon, the tank, the san jose sharks retired joe thornton's number 19, just the second number retired by the team. the first, of course, mr. shark, patrick mueller, number 12. and it's fitting thornton and marleau went one and two overall in the 97 nhl draft. it is one of the greatest honors for any athlete. seeing your name and number go up into the rafters. no shortage of tears for the man nicknamed jumbo. in a speech that spanned nearly half an hour, thornton thanked everyone you could think of. he really did. here are some of the top moments from a very memorable speech. >> as soon as i put on that sweater, took to the ice with the boys and rang one off the post in my very first shift. knew teal looked good on me and i was sold for life. shark.

it puts you at risk and us at risk. >> a potentially life saving plea from flood recovery crews hard at work in the north bay. the powerful storms that moved through our area this week have now claimed two lives in sonoma county. good evening and thank you for joining us i'm dion lim. police say one drowning victim died this morning after he attempted to drive through a flooded road in guerneville. in santa rosa, the body of a man was recovered from a rain swollen creek. both cities have received more than nine inches of rain since wednesday and there is still more wet weather on the way. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard has more now from the north bay,

where first responders have a warning for everyone. >> our message to the public is turn around, don't drown. >> it's a motto first responders use all the time. but on saturday, the driver of a compact car drove into the flooded maze canyon road in guerneville. >> right around 1130, a call came in from a person who saw a car bobbing in the water. >> the flood water, 6 to 7ft deep. an attempt to rescue the driver, becoming a grim recovery effort. >> the sheriff's office responded. in addition to sonoma county fire district and monterey fire, and they performed a rescue, and they pulled a person from the car who was unfortunately pronounced deceased here at the scene. so we have one person who did not make it. >> in santa rosa, the body of a man was recovered in piner creek saturday alongside a popular hiking trail. >> i hike here, walk here and i've never seen the water that high. >> alan johnson says the creek rose at least six feet after record rainfall. santa rosa

police say the man's death a possible drowning. it's unclear how the victim got into the creek. more than a foot of rain slamming sonoma county in three days, causing the russian river to flood in spots like this mobile home park in forestville. many roads are still flooded. sadly, this is not the first time drivers have lost their lives here in the north bay and flood waters. just over the last three days, first responderslast have been very busy rescuing people from their cars. >> please do not drive into flooded roadways. it puts you at risk and us at risk. trying to get you out. >> on friday night, the driver and passenger in this jeep had to be rescued on slosser road in forestville, which was closed due to flooding. in 2023, a woman drowned in her car after driving into a flooded road. >> we definitely, definitely wish people would not do that. they wish they would heed the signs and turn around, you know, find another way out. your life is worth it in sonoma county. >> cornell, bernard abc seven news can't hammer that message

home hard enough. >> now, after several days of consistent rain across the bay area, it looks like even more is on the way. let's get to spencer christian standing by with more on that and the timing. spence. >> okay, diane, we had a nice break today and this evening, but as you pointed out, more rain is on the way. here's live doppler seven and the satellite image. you can see a little frontal system swept through this morning. brought us some showers and cold air. has moved in behind it. and yet there is more rain on the way, so we'll get a little bit of a break. but tomorrow the showers return, so move along. take a look at the 24 hour temperature change. i mentioned that cold front and the cold air that came in behind it. it's anywhere from four to about ten degrees cooler across the bay area right now than at this time last night. so let's talk about the approaching storm for tomorrow. it's a level one storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. a storm of light intensity will have showers in the morning, turning into more widespread and steadier rain in the afternoon. hours winds out of the south southeast about 5 to 15mph. breezy, but not gusty. we

expect less than a 10th of an inch of rain from this system, but it will be wet starting at about 6:00 tomorrow morning. we'll see the first showers move onshore by midday. more widespread, steadier rain pushing in and that will produce that will continue to produce rainfall until late tomorrow night. and once again, rainfall estimates generally under a 10th of an inch. but look at the north bay, 13 hundredths at santa rosa, a quarter of an inch at clear lake, over a third of an inch at ukiah. and i'll have a look at the complete accuweather seven day forecast a little bit later on. >> all right. sounds good spencer. thanks. on the peninsula, a san mateo home is redtagged after a large oak tree came crashing down onto it. take a look. it was just after 3 a.m. when that tree split in half. then fell onto the roof above a woman's bedroom. the good news she wasn't hurt. maple street, between bahnson and madison avenues was temporarily closed so that tree could be removed. meantime, heavy rain has washed away part of a tiburon boulevard area in tiburon. a repair crew laid sandbags after a slide at

brooke rollins is president of the america first policy institute, and trump says she'll spearhead the effort to protect american farmers. rollins is the latest in a flurry of cabinet nominees from trump since yesterday, and abc's christiane cordero has more on this pick. >> a flurry of announcements from donald trump on friday. the president elect selecting billionaire scott bessent to head the treasury department. if confirmed, he would be the first openly gay treasury secretary. trump has also nominated russell vought as director of the oe of management and budget. trump has described him as an aggressive cost cutter and deregulator. vought is one of the architects of project 2025. trump has called the projects proposals, which include restrictions on abortion pills, birth control and medicare access, as well as eliminating federal agencies. extreme for labor secretary. trump selecting oregon congresswoman lori chavez-deremer, who lost her reelection bid earlier this month. the president elect, also naming his first black

fight climate change. the cop, 29 brings together environmental officers from around the globe, and today's agreement allows for a global market for buying and selling carbon credits. credits are created through projects like planting trees or putting up wind farms. countries receive one credit for every metric ton in emissions that they reduce or pull out of the atmosphere. a san francisco law firm helped kick off the holiday week with a giveaway of 100 will actually multiple hundreds of turkeys. volunteers from walkup melodia, kelly and schoenberger teamed up with students and alumni from san francisco's lowell high school. they gave away 700 turkeys in total for thanksgiving this year, the firm teamed up with eight different schools and identified families more in need than others. today, those families drove up and picked up their turkeys, as well as gift certificates for groceries. >> just watching the people who are receiving turkeys now, it's joyful. and that is i think the biggest takeaway for us is that we are feeling more connected

santa rosa, petaluma 4549 napa 45, fairfield 51 apiece at concord and livermore and temperatures continue to drop. so these are the forecast headlines. partial clearing tonight. but again, chilly tomorrow morning. showers followed by more widespread afternoon rainfall. and thanksgiving day is looking partly cloudy and dry. but the approaching system coming in tomorrow morning is a level one storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. a storm of light intensity again bringing morning showers and then more widespread rain in the afternoon winds out of the south southeast 5 to 15mph, less than a 10th of an inch of rainfall likely from this storm. it will start to push onshore early in the morning. the showers will at about 6 a.m. and by midnight by midnight by midday, we'll see more widespread and steadier rain pushing onshore. and that will continue into the evening hours winding down late tomorrow night, leaving behind again less than a 10th of an inch of rain in most bay area locations. and meanwhile, in the sierra until 10:00 tonight, winter storm warning remains in
