break. the holiday forecast coming up. and new developments in an arrest made in a homicide that happened in the middle of san francisco's market street. also ahead. >> we all thought we could trust her. >> you'll hear from parents who hope sharing the story of what their child went through will prevent it from happening to anyone else. >> always live abc seven news starts right now. >> and we are tracking what's left of today's storm with live doppler seven. as the bay area looks forward to a chance to dry out. good evening. >> i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. thanks for joining us. we've had wet weather for days now. as you know, in some parts of the bay area are still dealing with the aftermath. >> for a look at what's coming next, let's turn to abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel.s >> all right sandhya. all eyes are on thanksgiving this thursday. >> yeah. and you know what? we're going to brighten it up for thanksgiving. dan and let's take a look at live doppler seven. it is definitely kind of dreary outside. and damp in spots as we look at live doppler seven. we're going to get you into street level radar. the

focus of this system is in the south bay. so right around san jose, willow glen avenue, highway 87, also around the santa cruz mountains. so as we back it up here, you can see around sunnyvale, santa clara, san jose, willow glen. it's steady rain. same thing for the santa cruz area. highway one, highway 17. it is a damp one. and in the east bay you will notice from danville heading into san ramon some scattered showers. same thing for the san francisco and the peninsula area. so we widen this picture here. it is a level one system, a very light system. you can see the moisture feed is the southern part of our area. and that's where it's going to be tonight at 1130, as we head towards your morning commute you're going to see some damp roadways at 5:00, 8 a.m, some spotty showers around right now. we definitely have some raindrops from our exploratorium camera. it is a level one on our storm impact scale tonight through tomorrow in the morning, primarily scattered showers, pockets of low visibility, and breezy in spots. now, if you are traveling, the sierra is seeing snow and you're going to continue to see that along with the

central coast and southern california, where they will be dealing with the wet weather. now really quickly, things will start to dry out on wednesday, so that will be a good travel day. taking a look at a preview of thanksgiving, the morning starts off chilly. it's 30s and 40s, but for the afternoon, bright and sunny. highs will be in the 50s and the 60s. i'll be back with a full look at the accuweather seven day forecast coming up. >> all right, sandhya, thank you so much. in the north bay, cleanup is underway after heavy flooding that also took two lives. the sonoma county sheriff's office says one man died while trying to drive through water that was about six feet deep along maze canyon road in guerneville. another man was found dead in santa rosa's piner creek. it rose at least six feet during the storms. >> our message to the public is always turn around, don't drown. it's not worth your life. you can't tell how deep it is. it's hard to tell if there's a current. you don't even know the surfacing underneath. >> several days of relentless rain caused the russian river to flood in spots, sending surging floodwaters toward homes and businesses in guerneville.

>> new developments in a murder on market street, the san francisco police department has arrested someone. he's a 36 year old man who was taken into custody early yesterday morning after being picked up by bart police. bart police took him to san francisco general hospital. it's not clear why he needed to be hospitalized. the murder happened almost two weeks ago at market and main streets. before dawn. the victim was stabbed near the embarcadero bart station and died right there on market street. police say even with an arrest, this is still very much an open and active investigation. a shocking case of child abuse is rocking not just the bay ar, but the nation. a nanny caught on camera, striking and even throwing an infant who is just a few weeks old. abc7 news anchor dion limb sat down with the baby's traumatized parents, who hope their story will help other parents. >> we all thought we could trust her, you know? and never imagined something like this would happen.

>> what you're watching is baby monitor, camera footage from a hillsborough couple's home. mother and father who requested they be identified only by the initials d and t, had just brought their baby girl, h, home from the hospital in late september and hired an overnight nanny to help on day two. but what they discovered weeks later. >> definitely horrifying for any parents and family family to go through. >> alleged child abuse is so graphic we can't show it on tv. the nanny seen on different nights, repeatedly striking the baby, aggressively shaking her even at one point throwing her across the room. >> just a few days of such abuse could have lifelong consequences. >> san mateo county district attorney steve wagstaffe says his agency is working closely with hillsborough police on the case. >> as soon as i read the case was the age of the victim. if we can convict them, they're going to, for me, prisons. the only answer. >> the nanny who were choosing not to name since she has not yet been charged, was hired by d

and t via a reference on social media from the phone call that we had with her. >> it seems like she is a very good nanny. >> it wasn't until several weeks into her employment that baby h's parents noticed what they said were aggressive actions by the nanny. after they fired her, that's when they reviewed the baby monitor footage. doctor charles low-beer, who serves as an expert witness in child abuse cases, says monitoring the baby camera often is crucial to safety. >> some of these cameras will erase themselves after three days, so you've got that little bit of a window uh- built in. it could be as quick as as two minutes, really, to fast forward through. >> doctor lorbeer says even with proper vetting, there are no fail safes. >> of course we feel guilty as parents. >> baby h's parents continue to monitor her for signs of long term harm. as difficult as it is to speak out. mom and dad are doing so for a reason. >> my goal is to warn parents about this nanny. i don't want

is back in the bay area for the first time since her election loss. this is video of air force two landing at sfo in rainy conditions earlier today. harris and the second gentleman flew here following a vacation to hawaii. the reason for their visit is not clear. donald trump is responding to the news that he will not face prosecution for his actions on january 6th, or for allegedly taking classified documents from the white house. special counsel jack smith has asked the judge to toss the cases, saying the merits have not changed, but the circumstances have. a department of justice policy prohibits prosecuting a sitting president. critics of today's decision say prosecutors needed to take action sooner. >> this investigation began long before donald trump ran for presidency. it frankly should have begun even earlier, and it

alleges in that indictment some very, very serious crimes that he was not exonerated of. he just got lucky because of this doj policy. >> the president elect posted on x. quote, these cases, like all of the other cases i have been forced to go through, are empty and lawless and should never have been brought. >> when president elect trump takes office, his administration may get rid of federal tax credits for electric vehicles. but in a move to build a better bay area and a better state, california may offer rebates of its own. abc seven news reporter monica madden looks at the possible political and fiscal impacts. >> i think we're just we're we're going where the puck is going. we're going where consumers are going.here >> governor gavin newsom believes california is ready to drive green. >> california wants to dominate in this next big global shift. you already saw last quarter we were over. i think it was 25% of all new car purchases. that wasn't a mandate. that was just consumer choice. >> it's why he announced monday the state will offer financial

incentives on zero emission vehicles if the incoming trump administration stops current federal rebates. >> it's a bad time to take on extra spending commitments. >> critics say this shift isn't fiscally practical. right now, we're using the reserves to cover overspending, so we have to get that back in balance. >> and we can't raise taxes on the people of california. we should be honest about what it costs. california drivers and california electricity customers. you can make the choice if you want to, but we should be honest with everybody about how much it's increasing the bills you pay every month. >> with the upcoming special session to guardrail the state against trump, analysts speculate newsom is doing some political positioning. >> newsom has had his eye on the white house. i think it's very clear he's looking to run in 2028. i think he's banking on being part of that trump resistance that proved so lucrative politically for democrats during trump's first term. but again, it's a different country, so we'll see if that's the case. >> the governor betting on leading the pack on electric vehicles.

>> we're looking at the timing of this. a cap and trade renewal and other program renewals, ways to focus on the issue of energy costs and energy affordability. top, top priority in the state. >> newsom has seemingly never been afraid to go against the popular political will. and if it hurts him in the short term, he seems to benefit from it in the long term. >> if it happens, newsom says, california's rebates would come from the greenhouse gas reduction fund. in the newsroom, monica madden, abc seven news. >> all right, time to get a check on our weather. we got a little break from the rain. we did. >> much deserved and needed break. meteorologist sandhya patel is here as we head toward the holiday. sandhya. >> yeah, and we definitely still have some wet weather out there. let's take a look at a live picture. we also have the white stuff. yeah, we're talking snow. this is a live view from zephyr cove. absolutely gorgeous. watching that view right there. flurries at the tahoe area. as we look at live doppler seven, they are chaining up on all roads leading up to tahoe. so if

you are traveling, carry those chains and pack your patience. obviously travel is going to be a little bit rough. moisture stream is right over the south bay. the monterey bay and the central coast. so that is where most of the steady rain is for the rest of us. we are looking at some showers. let me get you really closer to where some of the moderate pockets of rain is falling. watsonville out towards gilroy and hollister right now. as we look here, scattered showers from pleasanton to dublin, union city getting you into street level radar and really just spotty stuff from san francisco, sunset district all the way down towards daly city and colma, widening the picture here. this is a storm that really doesn't have the same dynamics as that atmospheric river that we experienced last week. this one is, though, going to continue to bring in the wet weather across parts of southern california. let's talk about the wet weather. you will notice that ben lohman, picking up almost an inch of rain there. los gatos 5000/200 of an inch. san jose 2000/300. so the system

isn't skipping over you guys. a quarter of an inch in san francisco, a little less in oakland. nine hundredths napa and 2/10 in san rafael. so definitely can see the difference in the rainfall from south to north. 40s and 50s on your temperatures right now as we check out the winds at the lower elevations, not too bad. and neither at the higher elevations either. it's a little breezy. atlas peak 23 miles an hour. the wave heights are slowly building. beach hazard starts tomorrow night at 10:00, and it runs until 10 p.m. thursday. if you're going to be at the coast just enjoying the holidays, just please be careful as we do have a risk of sneaker waves and rip currents with 10 to 14 foot breakers building. san jose camera you are seeing the clouds overnight tonight into the morning showers and areas of fog wednesday. a pattern change starts and that sets the stage for dry, sunny weather for thanksgiving and beyond. not tonight though, and not tomorrow morning. we have a light level one scattered showers, pockets of low visibility, and breezy in spots as we time this out for you while you're sleeping. a lot of

the east bay and the south bay and the peninsula will be seeing that wet weather. 5:00 in the morning. scattered showers. the most organized in the southern and eastern part of our viewing area. at 7 a.m. you're still looking at some damp roadways, but by the time we head into 12:00, you will notice most of the activity starting to die down. maybe a couple of spotty showers, and that's about it. additional rain anywhere from a few hundredths of an inch to a few tenths is what we're expecting in the sierra. winter storm warning until 4 a.m. wednesday. 1 to 2ft for the peaks. with those gusty winds, travel is going to be pretty difficult. that warning, by the way, is above 5500ft, 40s and 50s. first thing tomorrow morning. carry those umbrellas. give yourself a little more time to head out the door if you do need to go to work, or if you're traveling for pleasure. 50s and seconds for your high temperatures tomorrow afternoon. and here's a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. it's a level one with those scattered morning showers, an isolated afternoon shower can't be ruled out now. wednesday we'll have the fog and then sun. and for thanksgiving we

i like those names. those birds have biden to thank. the president pardoned them this morning at the white house, continuing an annual tradition that goes back 77 years. the turkeys, named peach and blossom will be able to live out their lives at a minnesota farm. i expect them to smell really good with those names, but maybe not in sausalito, volunteers are making sure our seniors aren't forgotten this holiday. the nonprofit sausalito village served up a full course thanksgiving dinner for some older residents this afternoon. they enjoyed turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, plus pies for dessert. >> very nice. well, around the holiday, certainly food insecurity is often felt. the hardest. but this year, as always, local organizations are stepping up to make sure that no one goes hungry this thanksgiving in the south bay, abc seven news reporter lena howland highlights how they're building a better bay area. >> with thanksgiving just three days away, andre allensworth waited two hours in line in the rain to make sure her family has

something on the table. >> it's a blessing, you know, it's great that humanity is still here helping families in need, and it's a joyful thing. >> it's the first time this single parent of three has signed up for help with sacred heart community service, a nonprofit anti-poverty organization. >> so i have a 26 year old, a 14 year old, and a 12.5 year old, plus my chihuahuas over the span of just three days. >> sacred heart is aiming to serve a total of 4000 families just like hers, with their holiday food box program. monday's rush only accounts for about the first thousand families, but they say the line of people waiting outside speaks volumes about the need in the community, despite the fact that we live amongst a wealth and abundance here in the silicon valley, there are a lot of folks who are really struggling to make ends meet. >> and so during the holiday season, that stress can be doubled. trying to put a holiday meal on the table for your family. >> it's a similar story over at papal park, with the hunger at
