morning. a couple of light showers in the east bay. some steadier light rain falling in the santa cruz mountains because the trajectory of this storm is really to our south, that is where the heaviest rain is falling. we're just getting scraped by the northern fringe of this rain this morning, and it won't last all day. so it's level one today, and the showers are mainly before noon. this afternoon we'll start to dry out and it will be breezy in spots over the next couple of hours. so here's future weather as we go, hour by hour. we'll track those showers this morning. winding down around lunchtime, and then later on this afternoon it's just mainly cloudy. we start to dry out overnight. tonight we'll clear out that cloud cover and get ready for full sunshine tomorrow. a closer look. forecast coming up in eight minutes. let's check in with sue. see those drive times? >> good morning drew. good morning everyone. and where there is rain, of course we've got some car accidents. first, let's check in with your

thanksgiving mass transit schedule. we've got the weekend modified for caltrain on thursday, and your golden gate transit weekend holiday. no ferry service on thursday. bart will be running the sunday schedule. regular schedule on friday. northbound 101 in novato. we have an accident. it is the reverse commute and very little slowing and on the bay bridge westbound, however, we do have the right lane blocked with a three car accident slowing your ride into san francisco. >> sir. thank you. this morning, the faa warning of weather delays as millions of americans get ready to head out for their thanksgiving holiday. 50,000 flights are scheduled to take off across the country today. and here is a look at the planes in the sky as we speak. of course, it will be even busier on the roads. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is live at sfo with what you can expect if you are traveling today. gloria. >> good morning reggie. you know, one thing we're seeing here at sfo this morning, there are fewer delays. there were hundreds of fligs that were delayed over the fligs weekend and yesterday. but this morning. so far, we're only seeing about 35 flights that have been delayed so far. and

one flight that has been canceled. and overall, more than 18 million people are expected to pass through u.s. airports this week. so it's going to be very busy because of the thanksgiving holiday. and that's about 6% more than last thanksgiving. the tsa says its airport staffing is higher than ever for the holiday travel rush. united airlines is adding a reported 400 extra flights per day. american and delta are also adjusting for more travelers. the faa plans to open up typically closed airspace. >> we will use traffic flow management initiatives to deal with any staffing shortages on that particular day. in this airspace, and we expect to have some of those shortages. >> sfo expects just over 6 million people to go through the airport from thanksgiving to new year. that's up 15% over last year, but it's still about 97% of what they saw in 2019. so not quite back at pre-pandemic levels. and

the rescue boats steady. and throughout that process, both bodies were we were able to be pulled from the american river. >> both men were in their 20s and have not yet been identified. officials say neither of them were wearing life jackets, and the man suspected in a deadly stabbing in san francisco is now in custody. san francisco police say they arrested the 36 year old on sunday. he was picked up by bart police, who took him to san francisco general. it's not clear why he needed to be hospitalized. the murder happened almost two weeks ago now at market and main streets before dawn. the victim was stabbed near the embarcadero bart station and then died on market street. the investigation is ongoing. >> new developments in the controversy brewing with san mateo county sheriff san carlos became the first city to call on sheriff christina corpus to resign over misconduct allegations. it's one of several communities patrolled by san mateo county deputies. abc seven news reporter tim johns was

there for last night's vote of no confidence. >> yes. vice mayor mcdowell. yes. council member. collins. yes. council member. venkatesh. >> yes. with unanimous support, the san carlos city council voting monday night for a motion of no confidence in san mateo county sheriff cristina corpus and calling on her to resign. the council's vote follows the release of an explosive report by an independent investigator. that report says the sheriff has abused her power while in office, had an inappropriate relationship with her chief of staff and sent out racist and homophobic text messages. >> judge cordell's report speaks for itself, and it represents nothing less than a failure of leadership. >> since the report emerged, corpus has denied the allegations against her and vowed not to step down while the county's board of supervisors can't remove her. they are exploring adopting a charter amendment early next year. that amendment would ask voters to give the board the power to fire the sheriff. >> she's clearly lost the confidence of her organization, and most of the leaders in this community. and yes, if she this

requires us to go through this entire process and spend the money required, that is a selfish act. >> san carlos is the first city in san mateo county to formally call on corpus to step down. the sheriff says she believes she's being unjustly attacked because she's trying to bring change to her department. the president of the deputies union, who was recently arrested by his own department, also attended monday's vote. >> she's taken away from the real victims, right? people that it's almost like she's crying wolf. right? and for the people that do go through something that's serious is that there's no validity to what she's to her statements that she's saying, that it's because she's a female. it's because she's a latina. >> san carlos has relied on the sheriff's office for law enforcement services in the city since 2011. and despite monday's vote, city leaders want to reassure local residents that public safety will not be affected. >> this is a very healthy relationship, but for the sheriff's current predicament, many of the sheriff's critics

say they hope other cities in the county follow san carlos lead and call on corpus to resign. >> whether or not that happens remains to be seen. i'm in san carlos, tim johns, abc seven news. >> thanks, tim. it's 508 this morning and the accuweather forecast. one more morning of some wet weather before dry skies finally take over tomorrow. here's a live look outside. this is our exploratorium camera. some light mist and drizzle across the city right now. 55 degrees. high humidity. winds are light this morning, just generally out of the south at about five miles per hour. so here's live doppler seven. we are tracking some scattered showers out there. it's not widespread. we have this one line of rain moving south through marin county this morning. a couple of isolated showers along the coast and in the city. but the bulk of the moisture is to our south around monterey and points to the south. the central valley as well. and that is where the heaviest rain will fall today. so if you are traveling south, say through the central valley on five, maybe later on today it will be pretty wet.

we do have chain controls in effect on both 80 and 50 right now, because snow is falling around lake tahoe. so here's future weather. hour by hour this morning we'll track those scattered showers with the best chance of the wet weather before noon. as we head into the afternoon and the evening, the showers will move out of here, so we start to dry out. after about 2 p.m. the cloud cover hangs on all day, but watch what happens overnight. tonight we'll lose that cloud cover, clear out our skies, and wednesday we're looking at full sunshine. wednesday is looking fantastic. if you have to travel. so looking at the rainfall today extremely light. it is a level one minimal impact out there. it's just kind of the final round of showers. we have to deal with this week before that dry pattern takes over starting tomorrow. so highs today, we're basically in the upper 50s lower 60s with mostly cloudy skies out there. the best chance of a shower occurring before noon. again, if you're traveling today to the south, especially the central valley, we do have that heavy rain. southern california actually looking

forecast in just a couple of minutes. >> vice president kamala harris is back in the bay area for the first time since her election loss. this is video of air force two landing at sfo and some rainy conditions earlier yesterday. harris and the second gentleman flew here following a vacation to hawaii. the reason for their visit is unclear. president elect trump is blasting mexico and canada over their handling of the border, and promising to impose high tariffs on both countries once he's in office. he's also threatening to raise tariffs on china. abc news reporter perry russom is in washington with the response overnight. >> this morning, president elect trump promising to impose a 25% tariff on all products coming into the u.s. from canada and mexico. trump blaming both countries for the wave of undocumented immigrants and illegal drugs in the u.s. trump says the tariffs will stay in effect until canada and mexico solve what he calls a long simmering problem. >> broad based tariffs across the board. that's going to lead

to more inflation. >> the tariffs may violate a trade agreement between the us, mexico and canada that was signed by trump in 2019. it allows for mostly free trade between the three countries. >> the usmca is the fairest, most balanced and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law. it's the best agreement we've ever made. >> trump also calling for an additional 10% tariff on products coming from china. the chinese embassy in washington says the trade cooperation between the u.s. and china has been mutually beneficial, and no one will win a trade war or a tariff war. canada's deputy prime minister and public safety minister jointly saying canada will continue to discuss these issues with the incoming administration. it comes as special counsel jack smith has moved to dismiss his cases against trump. that includes the election interference case and classified documents case. the judge overseeing the election interference case dismissing the case yesterday. justice department policy prohibits smith from prosecuting a sitting president. smith, writing in

going to be really busy on the roads. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is live at sfo with what you can expect if you're traveling today. >> reporter well, you know, there's some good news this morning. if you are flying, we are seeing fewer flight delays today at sfo compared to what we saw over the weekend. and yesterday, because of course the weather is getting better. we're not seeing as much rain today, just kind of some slight drizzling. this morning. but of course a lot of people are going to be driving and flying for the thanksgiving holiday. so it's really going to be busy out there. triple a is predicting that nearly 72 million people will be traveling by car over thanksgiving. that's a record and an additional 1.3 million people compared to last year for the first time. triple a's forecast includes today, the tuesday before thanksgiving, and also the monday after. historically, it only looked at wednesday through sunday. john trainer of triple a says remote work has made it possible for more people to travel earlier, or many are even just taking some more time off. >> but this is record travel
