meghan trainor, megan thee stallion. >> they are such powerhouses and it just really shows the power of when women come together and support each other. >> the other thing i loved about what sia did is she really pushed you to use the lower registers of your voice. that high voice. paris, go to parties, go to spa, get free stuff was a trauma response. >> yes. and i didn't even realize that. i just thought it was just a voice. i did. but now, looking back on it, i can see that you know, my voice and so many other things in my life were all a trauma response to kind of build this character and this armor to protect myself from being hurt again. >> born to the hilton hotel empire, she says from the start, expectations were high for her opening up. in her 2020 documentary this is paris. i remember my mom always taught me to be very proper, private and to always portray that everything's perfect, proper and

>> thousands of schools, wilderness camps and these schools, a lot of them have no oversight or regulations. so people don't even know what's happening. >> it was there that she says she suffered shocking abuse. >> it was just a living nightmare. the people who work at these places were just evil and it was terrifying. and going through, you know, emotional, physical, psychological, sexual abuse. >> one of the schools she attended was provo canyon school in utah. >> provo canyon school was the worst experience of my entire life. >> what do you remember from provo throwing us against walls, strangling, hitting late at night. >> they would take certain girls into a room and do cervical

exams with male and female staff, and it was not like something that was like a doctor. like these were just them doing this late at night to girls. >> did that happen to you? >> yes. >> in a statement to abc news this week, provo canyon school in utah, which is still operating under new ownership, says in part provo canyon was sold by its previous ownership in august 2000. we therefore cannot comment on the operation or student experience prior to that time. it goes on to add we do not condone or promote any form of abuse, any and all alleged suspected abuse is reported immediately to our state regulatory authorities, law enforcement and child protective services as required. after the white house. >> at what time does this go? tell paris has turned her trauma

and pain into action, taking her story all the way to capitol hill, where she's been fighting for legislation that would regulate those so-called troubled teen programs. imagine if it was your child who was suffering abuse, neglect, or death in the name of treatment. wouldn't you do everything in your power to protect them? >> what's the fallout been, and how much has the response allowed you to have an even bigger platform on that issue? >> just the change that has been made has been incredible. i've helped change 11 state laws, and our bill is bipartisan. so many parents have come up to me and said, thank you for telling your story. i didn't believe my child and because of you, now i've realized so many of the things they said to me were true. >> i would imagine that means more than somebody telling you you're hot. >> it means so much more to me. >> oh, baby, baby kiss. part of

her healing, paris says, was finding a partner she could trust. and after a number of what she calls toxic relationships, she has finally found that with her husband, carter room. what would you say to the young paris or the young teenager out there who's heartbroken and crying in a mirror? >> i just feel like i found my home. i feel so safe. i feel so supported growing up, just in so many toxic relationships where i would just be constantly, like i said, in fight or flight mode and not feeling safe when you're growing up, you want to be with the bad boys and it's like you think, oh, this is fun and exciting, but it's the nerdy boys who are the good ones. absolutely. >> i'm married to a nice nerdy boy, so i agree with that. >> they're the best. >> yeah they are. >> they totally are. and now the couple has two kids together, both born via surrogate phoenix and london. how do you
