morning america. first look. >> good morning everyone. and happy thanksgiving i'm andrea fujii. >> and i'm lionel moise. andrew and rhiannon are off. and we begin this morning with a security breach at jfk airport in new york. a woman boarding a flight to europe without a ticket. >> it's the latest headline concerning holiday travel. the other big headline. the weather today will be a wet one for people traveling in the northeast. and for holiday parade goers, and four feet of snow could fall near the great lakes this weekend. but we begin with that airport security breach. new questions about security this morning, after a major breach at one of the nation's busiest airports. >> this is the captain. we're just waiting for the police to come on board. >> a stowaway somehow sneaking onto a transatlantic flight from new york's jfk airport and flying to paris without a ticket. the tsa says the passenger was screened at the security checkpoint, but somehow managed to bypass all checks for

a boarding pass or id before sneaking on to a sold out delta flight, where, according to witnesses, she tried to hide during the flight by moving between bathrooms. >> it directed us to keep everyone on the airplane until we sort out the extra passenger that's on the plane. >> the fbi aware of the incident? delta saying it's conducting an exhaustive investigation and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement. meanwhile, another delta flight, this one from paris to atlanta, had to be diverted because of an unruly passenger. the faa reports more than 1800 cases of unruly passengers this year, including this incident on a recent flight from austin to los angeles. officials now saying the man in the video, who had to be restrained by other passengers, was under the influence and was suffering from a medical episode. despite a few bumps in the road, the week brought mostly smooth holiday travel, weather being the biggest

challenge. near whiteout conditions in colorado causing this semi truck crash, backing up traffic for hours and the effects of this week's storms aren't over yet, especially in the northeast where it will be raining on the macy's parade. >> this storm is a game changer. it unlocks cold air and the lakes are warmer than normal, so big lake effect snows from friday into monday. we could see feet of snow across parts of upstate and western new york. it's going to be cold into early december. >> thankfully, the wind is not expected to be an issue for the new york and philadelphia thanksgiving day parades. we'll take you to both the parade routes in just a few moments. >> president elect trump says he spoke by phone with mexico's president, claudia sheinbaum, after threatening her country with sweeping tariffs. trump says it was a positive conversation and he claims sheinbaum agreed to immediately stop migration through mexico into the u.s, but sheinbaum later posted, mexico's position is not to close borders, but to build bridges between governments and people. >> the fbi is investigating a

wave of bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting some of trump's cabinet picks. his nominee for defense, labor, cia, the u.n. and others confirm they were among those targeted. defense secretary nominee pete hegseth says police told him about a pipe bomb threat while his seven kids were sleeping. >> the other big story this morning a holiday homecoming for three americans detained for years in china. they have been freed in a prisoner swap. abc's perry russom has the overnight video. perry. good morning. >> lionel. good morning to you. those three americans are safely back on u.s. soil, touching down in texas late last night after years of uncertainty behind bars in china. one was even sentenced to death. overnight, a holiday homecoming. >> you can see people there running. >> an emotional reunion at joint base san antonio in texas after the release of three americans detained in china for years, among them chi li, a new york businessman who served eight years of a ten year sentence. after being wrongfully detained by the chinese and charged with espionage. his son in september,

speaking to congress. >> personally, i've now spent a third of my life missing my dad, john leung, was arrested in china in 2021 for espionage and sentenced to life in prison after reportedly serving as an fbi informant and mark sweden from houston arrested on a business trip to china back in 2012. >> charged without evidence of drug possession, he was sentenced to death. his mother releasing this video during his incarceration. >> i just can't fathom what mark is going through. i know he's suffering. >> their return a part of a prisoner swap that required months of closed door negotiations, along with a private meeting recently between president biden and chinese president xi jinping. in exchange, the biden administration is releasing three chinese prisoners held in the u.s, including an intelligence officer caught during an fbi sting operation. secretary of state antony blinken speaking to the three americans overnight, saying he told them he is glad they are in good health and returning to their loved ones.

thrilled to be spending my thanksgiving morning with all of you. all right, so here we are on the parade route, jfk boulevard, where in just a few hours from right now, all 16 of these floats, you can see one very special float behind me are going to start off at 9 a.m, making the 1.4 mile trek to the philadelphia art museum. you know, the rocky steps. that's where the big parade wraps up a little bit later this morning. santa claus is the guest of honor, of course. so we're talking 16 floats, 14 balloons, 3000 dancers, performers and marchers. and there can only be one six abc dunkin philadelphia parade celebrating its 105th year. by the way, this year, this is the oldest thanksgiving day parade in the country. and you can imagine things probably looked a little bit different back in 1920 when the parade first started. it was started by gimbels to sort of kick off the christmas shopping season. and in that very first year, back in 1920, there were only 15 cars and 55 zero employees. and that was the entire parade and santa claus as well. santa also used to scale a fire truck ladder. he

a boarding pass or id before sneaking on to a sold out delta flight, where, according to witnesses, she tried to hide during the flight by moving between bathrooms. >> it directed us to keep everyone on the airplane until we sort out the extra passenger that's on the plane. >> the fbi aware of the incident? delta saying it's conducting an exhaustive investigation and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement. meanwhile, another delta flight, this one from paris to atlanta, had to be diverted because of an unruly passenger. the faa reports more than 1800 cases of unruly passengers this year, including this incident on a recent flight from austin to los angeles. officials now saying the man in the video, who had to be restrained by other passengers, was under the influence and was suffering from a medical episode. despite a few bumps in the road, the week brought mostly smooth holiday travel, weather being the biggest

thrilled to be spending my thanksgiving morning with all of you. all right, so here we are on the parade route, jfk boulevard, where in just a few hours from right now, all 16 of these floats, you can see one very special float behind me are going to start off at 9 a.m, making the 1.4 mile trek to the philadelphia art museum. you know, the rocky steps. that's where the big parade wraps up a little bit later this morning. santa claus is the guest of honor, of course. so we're talking 16 floats, 14 balloons, 3000 dancers, performers and marchers. and there can only be one six abc dunkin philadelphia parade celebrating its 105th year. by the way, this year, this is the oldest thanksgiving day parade in the country. and you can imagine things probably looked a little bit different back in 1920 when the parade first started. it was started by gimbels to sort of kick off the christmas shopping season. and in that very first year, back in 1920, there were only 15 cars and 55 zero employees. and that was the entire parade and santa claus as well. santa also used to scale a fire truck ladder. he

a boarding pass or id before sneaking on to a sold out delta flight, where, according to witnesses, she tried to hide during the flight by moving between bathrooms. >> it directed us to keep everyone on the airplane until we sort out the extra passenger that's on the plane. >> the fbi aware of the incident? delta saying it's conducting an exhaustive investigation and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement. meanwhile, another delta flight, this one from paris to atlanta, had to be diverted because of an unruly passenger. the faa reports more than 1800 cases of unruly passengers this year, including this incident on a recent flight from austin to los angeles. officials now saying the man in the video, who had to be restrained by other passengers, was under the influence and was suffering from a medical episode. despite a few bumps in the road, the week brought mostly smooth holiday travel, weather being the biggest

thrilled to be spending my thanksgiving morning with all of you. all right, so here we are on the parade route, jfk boulevard, where in just a few hours from right now, all 16 of these floats, you can see one very special float behind me are going to start off at 9 a.m, making the 1.4 mile trek to the philadelphia art museum. you know, the rocky steps. that's where the big parade wraps up a little bit later this morning. santa claus is the guest of honor, of course. so we're talking 16 floats, 14 balloons, 3000 dancers, performers and marchers. and there can only be one six abc dunkin philadelphia parade celebrating its 105th year. by the way, this year, this is the oldest thanksgiving day parade in the country. and you can imagine things probably looked a little bit different back in 1920 when the parade first started. it was started by gimbels to sort of kick off the christmas shopping season. and in that very first year, back in 1920, there were only 15 cars and 55 zero employees. and that was the entire parade and santa claus as well. santa also used to scale a fire truck ladder. he
