>> it is thanksgiving night in the bay area. i'm looking live out at the roads with plenty of families driving home after a thanksgiving meal, lots of cars lighting up interstate 80 in emeryville and the bay bridge right now. take a look. good evening and happy thanksgiving. i'm karina nova. we have a lot to get to on this holiday, but we begin with something we can all be thankful for. some beautiful bay area weather. abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel leads us off with a look at your black friday forecast with a chilly night ahead. sandy. it's beautiful, but it is a little cold. it is indeed. you know what, karina? it turned out to be a nice holiday and we are feeling that chill tonight. so let me show you a live picture right now from our mount tam cam and the city by the bay is sparkling. but as karina mentioned, you can feel it out there. it is 37 right now in fairfield, 39 in santa rosa. temperatures are dropping. frost advisory will go up is an up up right now. excuse

me until 9 a.m. tomorrow. it will go up again tomorrow night, 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. saturday. so the next two nights, cold temperatures as low as the mid 30s. you can bet there will be some frost. so those are the areas shaded in blue. now as we go hour by hour. starting off near freezing tomorrow morning in our coldest locations. and then in the 40s and the 50s. so if you are going to brave the chill for black friday shopping, bundle up. i'll be back with a full look at the holiday weekend forecast coming up. karina. we are following a developing situation on the dumbarton bridge. the eastbound side of the bridge just reopened in the last 25 minutes after several carsast 25 crashed just past the toll plaza. up to six cars may have been involved. fortunately, no one was injured. it's not clear what caused the crash, but the chp says alcohol was not a factor. one boy is dead and another is under arrest after a pursuit ended in a bad crash, the santa clara county sheriff's office says a deputy tried to pull over a stolen vehicle in cupertino just after 3 a.m, but

the driver didn't stop. the sheriff's office says deputies chased the car into saratoga, where it crashed into a tree for juveniles were inside. one male passenger died and two female passengers were hurt. deputies arrested another boy who was driving after he tried to run from the crash site. he's accused of vehicular manslaughter and felony evasion. a traditional thanksgiving run today turned into a memorial for the victims of a fiery crash. piedmont's 23rd annual turkey trot became a way for the community to mourn together. the race course was altered to take participants by the site where a tesla cybertruck crashed and caught fire yesterday morning, killing three people and critically injuring another. family, friends. and they told us all four were college students home for thanksgiving. 5000 runners and walkers paid tribute to them with more than 1500 flowers. >> it's good to see the power of

community and how much we can come together and show love for the families and everyone who's struggling right now. >> the community really loved them. they brought a lot of energy and a lot of spirit to the community, and i feel like it's like it's only fitting that people show their respect. >> piedmont police are still investigating the deadly cybertruck crash. they say speed was likely a factor. the chp is out on the roads tonight making sure folks make it home safe after thanksgiving dinner. officers are out looking for impaired drivers, and last year, the chp arrested more than 1000 drunk drivers. extra officers will be patrolling the roads through sunday. the san jose state women's volleyball team is waiting to learn who they'll play in the mountain west tournament after their first opponent forfeited. boise state withdrew from the tournament last night rather than play the spartans amid a firestorm over transgender women in sports. a lawsuit tried to keep san jose state from the tournament, saying there's a transgender player on the team. the

university and the player have never said so. a federal judge ruled the spartans are following ncaa rules. the team will play the winner of tomorrow night's match in the final on saturday. in a statement, san jose state said it's disappointed in boise state's decision, but the women's volleyball team is looking forward to competing for a championship. san francisco's glide foundation brought holiday cheer to many people in need today. e nonprofit served 3000 meals. guests enjoyed a traditional thanksgiving spread with ham, turkey, stuffing, vegetables, pie and much, much more. it's a thanksgiving tradition, 60 years strong. the work to prepare all that food is a labor of love. and so is the effort to bring it to the streets. and some of san francisco's most vulnerable communities. abc seven news reporter tara campbell followed, along with glide today, and has that part of the story. you want the bag? >> sure.

>> all right. one greeting at a time. this crew from glide giving out 250 thanksgiving meals to some of san francisco's hardest to reach all the way out to the most remote part of the city and find the folks that are unhoused right there and just touch them with a little bit of what glide test is a community here with fellaini. castro, also known as sister anna streets, is a member of the sisters of perpetual indulgence, a group of queer and trans activists. >> come on up. heading up glide harm reduction team. >> it's on the ground nearly every day, connecting people with services and supplies. >> it means the world to people like me. you know, i've been out here struggling with nothing for so long and, you know, to get by is kind of hard these days. and glide really comes through with a lot of resources food, clothing, medical supplies. >> means like family and community. it's just a nice reminder of, like, what it means to be human. >> just the meals today. >> i know they help out a lot.

workers across 20 countries are ready to strike for black friday. the international protest is scheduled to last from tomorrow through cyber monday. the workers are calling for higher pay and for employees to be allowed to unionize. amazon says it already provides great pay, benefits and opportunities. economic experts say the strike could lead to delays in holiday deliveries. last year, amazon made up 18% of global black friday sales. businesses are hoping shoppers will stop their scrolling and show up in person tomorrow. the scenes of mall mayhem or crowds waiting for the doors to open are nearly gone. retailers have spent weeks trying to catch consumers interest with ads and early offers. even so, with five fewer days between thanksgiving and christmas, experts say people are more likely to search the stores for deals in person. >> with one less week. we see a lot more store traffic because the reliability of shipping

being at your doorstep. >> online sales are already 9% higher than they were last year, and many more are expected to buy more this weekend. and on cyber monday. all week long, we've been following the story of crime in san jose that the community helped turn around. someone stole a young man's custom wheelchair out of his mom's car, and today it appears they brought it back. miguel silva has cerebral palsy, and the 24 year old relies on the chair to get around. his mother, rachel, woke up tuesday morning, and found her car window smashed with her airpods, an electric scooter and the missing wheelchair. that night, she told us she hoped the thieves would do the right thing. >> i don't care anything else. leave it at majestic way of all. i care. leave it somewhere. put a post-it on it. i want to be able to just hopefully get a chair back. that's. that's what i'm counting on.

>> rachel says today someone left across the street from their home intact. miguel had been getting around with a chair donated by the danville based wheelchair foundation, but his original chair is a custom fit. police are still searching for two men who broke into the family's car. as thanksgiving comes to a close, some of us may be in turkey comas and some are already trimming the tree. tonight, many families went to pick out their christmas trees at local spots, and abc seven news reporter tim johns shows us the holiday traditions happening tonight. >> at clancy's christmas trees in san francisco's inner sunset neighborhood. two holidays meshed perfectly together on thursday. >> merry christmas, happy thanksgiving. >> yeah, with a little holiday cheer and even singing present in the background. jingle bells, jingle bells. >> jingle all the way. >> stephen clancy sat down with his family and staff to enjoy a thanksgiving meal. >> it started when we used to

get our first load of christmas trees on thanksgiving, and we'd have customers start coming in like, oh, we can come and buy a tree. and so that just turned into us having thanksgiving here. >> but that's not the only tradition happening here. since opening in 1949, clancy's has welcomed thousands of people looking to buy christmas trees on thanksgiving night. we have customers that bought trees from my grandfather, from my father, and from myself, and it's so fun seeing everybody, some new faces and same faces that we see every year. two familiar faces are sophie gregory and yokoshi utaki, who found their special tree thursday night. >> so we'll see if it fits in our apartment. we live in a small apartment, so it might be a bit of a struggle. >> the pair says they've been coming to clancy's for years and value the family run business in the heart of san francisco. they also tell us they're wasting no time in starting their decorating. are you guys going to start decorating tomorrow or what's the plan? oh, no.

reddit x and instagram will be liable for millions of dollars worth of fines if they fail to prevent australian children under 16 from holding accounts. >> you could imagine that some of the social networks might say, we don't want this hassle, and australia will not be the largest market to any of these platforms. so it's going to be very interesting to see whether the social networks comply or decide they've had enough, and move out of australia. >> prime minister anthony albanese says the law will support parents and critics say a complete ban will not help create healthy online habits and worry age verification could impact the privacy of all users. foster city has a new plan to deal with geese. they won't kill the birds, but this goose truce isn't exactly nice. on monday, the city council will consider a less lethal approach to deal with its canada geese overpopulation. while in years past, killing the birds came up as a possible solution, foster

in livermore 46, san jose 39. santa rosa, upper 40s san francisco, oakland. not quite as cold as what they're dealing with back east, the northeast is dealing with a heavy snow storm. it's a major storm. it has pushed out towards the canada area, and it will continue to move in that direction away from the region. but there is another system that is developing and that is going to bring in not only an arctic outbreak, but more snow across parts of new york. this is going to continue all the way until sunday night. and you know what that is? it is game time. niners are going to be hosted by the bills. and it's a kickoff. it's going to be in the upper 20s, snowy and breezy, getting pretty cold. so if you are going to be going to that game keep this in mind. they are going to be talking about snow over a foot in that region, looking at winter storm warnings and lake effect snow warnings as they are expecting heavy lake effect snow across the region back here. it's beautiful. from our exploratorium camera looking at embarcadero center, it is
