that's a bold move, maureen. well, welcome to the show. kyle compton-troesch from cincinnati, ohio is a civil engineer and an animal lover, yes? yeah, my wife and i volunteer at a place called found house, uh, with their pet support program, uh, which is a temporary animal shelter, um, and it helps out people who are, um, might be undergoing medical treatment or experiencing homelessness. and it's a place for-- where their pets can be cared for while, um, when they can't. and then, you know, it's a lot of fun. i get to hang out with the animals, and then it's really great to see them reunite with their family. that seems like the kind of good deed where you're having so much fun you're like, "i don't even know if this counts as a good deed." yeah, exactly. thanks for volunteering. that's great. rishabh wuppalapati is back with us from vernon hills, illinois, an undergrad at u-penn. you've done very well here, rishabh, but you're a pretty intense "jeopardy!" viewer at home too, right? yeah, so a long time ago, my dad and i were watching a game. and we made a bet on a daily double. i think my dad was so sure i wouldn't get it that he wagered $80 billion that i wouldn't get it.

targeted by bomb threats on thanksgiving. fbi agents, along with state and local police, swarmed their properties but say they found no explosive devices. these come after similar incidents involving at least seven of donald trump's cabinet picks. no bombs were found at their homes, either. >> president elect trump spent thanksgiving at mar a lago, where he table danced to ymca with his self-proclaimed best buddy, elon musk. one thing not on the menu, though. the fallout over his threat to impose tariffs on canada and mexico. abc's perry russom joins us live from washington with those details. good morning. perry. >> lionel, good morning to you. there appears to be a disconnect over what was said on the call and what both leaders agreed to. trump has been putting pressure on both mexico and canada, with these tariffs all tied to immigration. this morning, president elect trump and the president of mexico at odds over a phone call about immigration. trump says mexican president claudia sheinbaum agreed to stop migration through mexico and into the united states, effectively closing our southern border. sheinbaum says she told

trump migrant caravans are being stopped before reaching the u.s, saying, we reiterate that mexico's position is not to close borders. >> we're going to fix our borders. >> reporter immigration a key issue for trump on the campaign trail. he is threatening to impose a 25% tariff on goods coming from mexico. and canada on his first day back in office. trump blaming both countries for the wave of undocumented immigrants and illegal drugs in the u.s. he says the tariffs will stay in effect until canada and mexico solve what he calls a long simmering problem. days after suggesting mexico would retaliate against u.s. tariffs with tariffs of their own potential, guerra de la revision del potencial. >> guerra de la sheinbaum yesterday, interrupting a reporter asking about a potential tariff war, saying there will be no potential tariff war. >> i hope we rethink it. >> president biden calls trump's tariff threats on the u.s. north american neighbors counterproductive. >> we have an unusual situation in america. we're surrounded by

the pacific ocean, the atlantic ocean and two allies mexico and canada. and the last thing we need to do is begin to screw up those relationships. >> sheinbaum says there will be more conversations before trump takes office. as for canada, a government official this week says they are starting to think about tariffs they can impose on the u.s. no final decision has been made. >> andrea perry, thank you. russia's defense minister has arrived in north korea for talks with military and political leaders surrounding ukraine. the visit follows moscow's second major strike this month on the ukrainian energy infrastructure. president volodymyr zelenskyy called the attack a despicable escalation. the white house also issued a response. >> president biden releasing a statement calling russia's aerial attack horrific, saying the united states stands with ukraine. but honestly, for many ukrainians, the question right now is for how much longer? >> putin accused the biden administration of escalating the war and creating difficulties for president elect trump. he

added that trump is a, quote, clever and experienced man, saying trump will find a solution. australia is now the first country to approve a social media ban for children under 16. the measure calls for fines of up to $33 million. if tiktok, instagram and other platforms don't follow the law. the sites have one year to figure out how to implement the ban. facebook and instagram parent company meta called the measure rushed. >> now to one man's remarkable rescue. he was lost in the woods for 50 days in temperatures below freezing. his family thankful after never giving up hope. this morning, relief for the family of a hiker who was missing in the wilderness for more than five weeks. >> and they say, well, that's sam. >> sam bostic set out for a ten day solo camping and fishing trip at a park in northwestern canada back on october seventh, when the 20 year old didn't return his family reported him missing. rescue crews conducted a vast search but found nothing.

>> the physical b.c. government rescue team left because they did all they could do. the family members and a couple friends still stayed for another couple of weeks. the last day that they stayed, november 11th, the mother and father both gave me a hug and we all had tears. >> but the family carried on, staying at a hotel near the park, holding out hope even as temperatures dropped below zero. then on tuesday, two people on a trail spotted a man walking towards them with walking sticks and a cut up sleeping bag tied around his legs for warmth. >> so they dragged him into the truck, gave him some water, food, phoned 911. >> 50 days after he had left home, panasonic had been found and taken to a local hospital. his mother sharing this photo of sam giving a thumbs up even though she says he was upset, he did not catch a single fish. well, panasonic is suffering from frostbite and smoke inhalation, but is expected to

fully recover. >> time now for a look at your morning weather. >> good morning. it's going to be a cold black friday. temperatures plunging through the plains. this cold air mass is going to set the table for the coldest start to december in a decade. for the central and eastern u.s. take a look at this. we have some heavy lake effect. snow is going to be a big story in several areas downwind of all of the great lakes. now, the fifth shade of blue here is where we're forecasting between 2 and 3ft of snow. now through tuesday. this is where prolonged event the bands of snow are going to waiver around downwind of lake erie and lake ontario. we're looking at 2 to 3ft of snow. parts of erie, chautauqua-cattaraugus and erie counties of both pennsylvania and new york and into the tug hill plateau as well. so this is going to be a big storyline. here is this lake effect. snow becomes a huge problem continuing through the weekend with cold air elsewhere. for accuweather, i'm jeff cornish for abc news. >> coming up, the dentist already behind bars, accused of poisoning his wife. now facing

filed a motion to add two counts against james craig, including solicitation to commit first-degree murder. police in aurora now say craig hatched a plot to kill the detective who investigated his wife's death. he's due back in court next month. >> a missing person's mystery that began more than 40 years ago has been solved. a new york couple that disappeared while driving home from florida has been identified, but there are still so many unanswered questions. this morning, the mystery involving a new york couple who vanished more than four decades ago has been solved. retired oil executive charles roemer and his wife catherine, were last seen in april 1980, sparking a 44 year saga. >> all the investigations and everything and psychics and everything, the police, they worked so hard and they thought it was foul play. >> the roemers were driving back to new york from winter in florida when they vanished. catherine roemer was wearing thousands in jewels at the time. the pair's nine grandchildren, all sisters, thought they had

been victims of a terrible crime. >> that was all we were concerned about. it's been such a mystery. just have some peace and you know, maybe it wasn't a horrible ending, or maybe it was just an accident. >> that is now what it seems. because a week ago, a team of divers in brunswick, georgia, found a rusted out lincoln continental with a bone inside. the same car the roemers were in. the team drained the pond near a hotel where the roemer stayed to search for more remains. and on thanksgiving, the family confirmed that the remains found in that pond off i-95 were indeed of their grandparents. they released a statement saying, we are deeply saddened and equally relieved. while this discovery brings closure, it still has been very emotional. the family tells the new york post a rolex watch and a diamond ring were also found in that car, but it's not clear if the pond was searched at the time that the two vanished. >> coming up, new details on a top tennis player facing a
