the stores, amazon workers are heading to the picket lines. how a worldwide strike today could impact online shopping. the 49 ers are in for a frigid weekend in the northeast. a major snowstorm expected to hit buffalo during the game against the bills. a lot of people think that's exciting, though. yeah, right. fun to watch you can give me. yeah. watch. far away. far away. good morning. on this friday, november 29th. yes, it is black friday. first we're going to check your forecast with christine spencer christian. oh my gosh. >> it's okay. by the name will work for black black friday shopping. yes. we're still in that turkey coma. there you go. we all are. so it's going to be a sunny and dry day for shoppers, but a chilly morning if you're standing in any of those lines waiting for stores to open this morning, i would advise you to bundle up. we've got clear skies, high pressure, the dominant feature in our weather right now. we still have a frost advisory in effect until 9:00 this morning for the north bay interior mountains and interior valleys. the east bay hills and interior valleys, and the eastern santa clara hills. now this will expire at 9:00

this morning, but it will be in effect again overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, temperatures dropping down to the lower 30s. and of course, frost could damage sensitive plants. right now it's well, we've got low 30s over most of the north bay, 32 at napa, 33 santa rosa and sonoma, fairfield, 33, 31 at danville. that's our coldest spot. and up in ukiah, those two the coldest spots, right now. but we have 40s around the bay shoreline. and here in san francisco. the good news is it will warm up to lower 60s this afternoon around the bay shoreline. and inland and up to about 60 on the coast. so it's going to be a lovely day. let's check in with sue now for traffic. >> good morning spencer. good morning everyone. happy black friday. we're taking a look at the east shore freeway that is moving nicely. we had an earlier accident westbound 580 at central that's been pushed off to the shoulder. so traffic is moving along. you can see your drive time all the way into the city. golden gate bridge, clear. very light traffic. in fact, we don't expect any morning commute at all. you can see even tracy

up and over the altamont. we do have, unfortunately, a full road closure. eastbound highway four. this is a fatal a fatal accident. excuse me. with a sig alert. they are directing traffic off at bailey road and then back on past the scene. so again, avoid eastbound four in pittsburgh if you can. this fatal accident will be out there for some time. >> reggie aqui. sue. thank you. breaking overnight, a massive three alarm fire in vallejo. look at these flames engulfing what appears to be a multi-unit building on sutter street and ohio. we're hearing now from people who say they live there, and they were forced to evacuate in the middle of the night. >> very much so worried. you know, i have nowhere to go from here. >> right now. we're working to learn more info from fire crews about the cause and if there were any injuries and as soon as we do get information into our newsroom, we will pass that along. happening now. some black friday shoppers are already hitting the stores in person. these are very dedicated deal

seekers. they're roaming the aisles of the bass pro shop in san jose and right along with them. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez this bass pro shops in san jose is now open, and many were hoping to get one of those gift cards that they were giving out. >> they gave out 250 gift cards valued between $10 and $500. and by 430 this morning, there was already a line outside the store. nearly 200 people had lined up before the store even opened. at 5:00 this morning. i talked to one person who tells me he was lined up since last night, and many tell me that it's worth the wait. >> came here for the gift cards, pick up some clothing for hunting and just, you know, have a good time with family. >> so is it really worth coming that early? >> uh- chance at a $500 gift card. i mean, it's worth it. >> the average holiday shopper is budgeting around $900 on average. this is about $27 more than shoppers budgeted last year. >> and while many people are now

doing their christmas shopping online, many shoppers i talked to here today tell me it's still fun to experience black friday in person in san jose. gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> happening today amazon workers across 20 countries are on strike for black friday. the international protest is scheduled to last from today through cyber monday. the workers are calling for a higher pay and for employees to be allowed to unionize. now, amazon says it already provides great pay, benefits and opportunities. economic experts say the strike could lead to delays in your holiday deliveries. last year, amazon made up 18% of global black friday sales. speaking of unions, about 2500 hotel union workers held a thanksgiving lunch on the picket line yesterday. negotiations are moving slowly with the three chains involved. that would be hyatt, marriott and hilton. the

union is calling for wage increases. they also want employee pay to be contingent on future hotel profits. they say they're prepared to continue this strike through the holidays. san francisco's glide foundation brought holiday cheer to a lot of people in need. the nonprofit served 3000 meals. guests enjoyed a traditional thanksgiving spread with ham and turkey and stuffing veggies, pie. it's a thanksgiving tradition that is now 60 years strong. the work to prepare all that food is, of course, a labor of love, and so is the effort to bring it to the streets in some of san francisco's most vulnerable communities. abc seven news reporter tara campbell followed, along with glide, and has that part of the story. you want the bag? >> sure. >> all right. one greeting at a time. this crew from glide giving out 250 thanksgiving meals to some of san francisco's hardest to reach, all the way out to the most remote part of the city and find the folks that are unhoused right there, and just touch them with a little bit of what glide test is a

temperature and could damage sensitive plants. let's take a look at current temperature readings. 49in san francisco right now. oakland 45. 42 at hayward 40. san jose, but chillier at redwood city only. 3654 at half moon bay. looking down onto the bay under clear skies from mount tam. 33 at santa rosa, petaluma. 2832 at napa. 33 fairfield, concord and livermore are in the mid 30s. 3635 degrees and we expect a nice little mild pattern this afternoon with sunny skies and high temperatures reaching up to about 60 on the coast, 61 here in san francisco around the bay shoreline, 6364 degrees will be the highs inland. east bay, not quite so mild, upper 50s to about 60 up to 62 at livermore. north bay highs 64. santa rosa down to the south. bay 66 at san jose. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. mild pattern continues tomorrow. sunday, first day of december december. warmth will prevail with highs reaching into the mid or mid to upper 60s. in fact, we certainly will see some upper 60s by the middle of the week. lovely

just wait, because the tsa does expect to set records once we are all finished with this. the busiest day nationwide is expected sunday, when an estimated 3 million people will be flying home at the same time as thanksgiving comes to a close, we look ahead to the rest of the holiday season, some wasting no time at all. going straight from the thanksgiving meal to their local christmas tree lot. abc seven news reporter tim john shows us the growing holiday tradition for so many families. >> at clancy's christmas trees in san francisco's inner sunset neighborhood. two holidays meshed perfectly together on thursday. >> merry christmas, happy thanksgiving. yeah, with a little holiday cheer and even singing present in the background. >> jingle bells, jingle bells. >> jingle all the way. >> stephen clancy sat down with his family and staff to enjoy a thanksgiving meal. >> it started when we used to get our first load of christmas

trees on thanksgiving, and we'd have customers start coming in like, oh, we can come and buy a tree. and so that just turned into us having thanksgiving here. >> but that's not the only tradition happening here. since opening in 1949, clancy's has welcomed thousands of people looking to buy christmas trees on thanksgiving night. >> we have customers that bought trees from my grandfather, from my father, and from myself, and it's so fun seeing everybody, some new faces and some faces that we see every year. >> two familiar faces are sophie gregory and yokoshi utaki, who found their special tree thursday night. >> so we'll see if it fits in our apartment. we live in a small apartment, so it might be a bit of a struggle. >> the pair says they've been coming to clancy's for years and value the family run business in the heart of san francisco. they also tell us they're wasting no time in starting their decorating. and are you guys going to start decorating tomorrow or what's the plan? >> oh, no. right after. yeah. yeah, yeah. >> the whole thing tonight.

they were the first to open, so they've been open for three weeks now. the 40 niners 40 niners are traveling to snow because they are playing in buffalo on sunday. and it could be less of a winter wonderland, more of a winter nightmare. so this is video from january when a huge storm hit western new york. sunday could actually be worse than this. a potent winter storm from canada is expected to slam the area during the game, bringing gusty winds and freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall. up to four feet of snow could fall this weekend. so i guess you could say no matter what, it will be a memorable game. yeah. >> yeah. oh no thanks. >> although if you're, like, somewhat used to playing, at least in cold temperatures, you kind of have an advantage. >> but not if you are used to playing here. >> that's very true. i used to live in green bay, wisconsin. oh, wow. and the people there love it when it snows like that. oh, i'm sure game. >> so that's that stadium will be packed. you know, it will be for a fact, but not me.

sprung into action to rescue him from a lake at nagasawa park. yesterday, a caller reported an overturned kayak and a man yelling for help. crews quickly got to the scene. they swam out to the man. they managed to get him back to shore. he was taken to the hospital. it's not clear how long he was in that cold water. imagine this. you're on a roller coaster, and then you realize that lap bar. the only thing to hold you in isn't working. that was apparently the reality for a man who jumped off mid ride and the whole thing was caught on camera. reporter emma roberts shows us the terrifying incident. >> reporter what we know is that a man stood up in his seat and jumped onto the emergency staircase just seconds before that big drop, and you can actually see a portion of that coaster behind me where it heads up to the highest point. the man who spoke to us says this was a

terrifying experience that should have never happened. a celebration at castles n coasters sunday nearly turned tragic for one valley man. >> yeah, it was just adrenaline and i didn't want to die that day. >> he didn't want to show his identity, but describes the terrifying moment when he says his lap bar unlocked. >> i heard a click noise that was different from the chain taking us up the hill, and i checked my lap bar and it released. >> this video shows the moment he stood up in his seat and jumped out onto the emergency staircase with just seconds to spare. he believes he could have been killed if it wasn't for his quick thinking. >> it could have been one of the 11 year olds. it could have been somebody younger. it could have been somebody older, not as agile, right? >> he says the manager offered him a refund and took a report, but feels like his concerns were not heard. here in arizona, the state does not oversee regulations of amusement park

week. right now we'll go over to sue for a check on traffic. >> thank you spencer. good morning everyone. friday and it is friday. light it is holiday light. we are not expecting a commute at all this morning. we've got no metering lights at 630. so very light conditions. all around the bay area. let's take a look. there's your drive time from hercules all the way into san francisco green. overall, you don't see that too often coming out of the central valley. we've got no slowdowns here, though is our big problem spot. we have a fatal accident. it is eastbound highway four in pittsburgh. they have the road shut down to investigate this fatality. traffic is being diverted off at bailey road. the bailey on ramp to eastbound four is also shut down. so try to avoid the area. no estimated time of reopening. we'll be back in just a few to check. >> sue. thank you. one boy has died. another is arrested after a chase with police that ended in a crash. the santa clara county sheriff's office says a

deputy tried to pull over a stolen vehicle in cupertino early yesterday morning. the driver refused to stop. the sheriff's office says deputies chased the car into saratoga, where it crashed into a tree. four juveniles were inside. one of the passengers died and two others were hurt. deputies arrested the driver after he tried to run from the crash site. he is accused of vehicular manslaughter and felony evasion. a traditional thanksgiving run turned into a memorial for the victims of a fiery crash. piedmont 23rd annual turkey trot became a way for the community to mourn together. the race course was altered to take participants by the site where a tesla cybertruck crashed and caught fire wednesday morning. it killed three people and critically injured another. family, friends tell us all four people in the car were college students, home for thanksgiving. 5000 runners and walkers paid tribute to them, with more than 1500 flowers. >> it's good to see the power of community and how much we can come together and show love for

the families and everyone who's struggling right now. >> the community really loved them. they brought a lot of energy and a lot of spirit to the community, and i feel like it's like it's only fitting that people show their respect. >> piedmont police are still investigating the deadly cybertruck crash. they say speed was likely a factor and a reminder. chp maximum enforcement period is in effect now through sunday. officers are looking for impaired drivers. last year, the chp arrested more than a thousand drunk drivers just over the thanksgiving weekend. as we near inauguration day north american leaders are preparing for the tariff plans. president elect donald trump says he's going to put into place. mexico's president's response to those plans has some economists worried about a potential tariff war. abc news reporter perry russom explains how leaders are working to avoid more conflict. >> this morning, president elect trump and the president of mexico at odds over a phone call about immigration. trump says mexican president claudia sheinbaum agreed to stop

migration through mexico and into the united states, effectively closing our southern border. sheinbaum says she told trump migrant caravans are being stopped before reaching the u.s, saying, we reiterate that mexico's position is not to close borders. >> we're going to fix our borders. >> reporter immigration a key issue for trump on the campaign trail. he is threatening to impose a 25% tariff on goods coming from mexico and canada on his first day back in office. trump blaming both countries for the wave of undocumented immigrants and illegal drugs in the u.s. he says the tariffs will stay in effect until canada and mexico solve what he calls a long simmering problem. days after suggesting mexico would retaliate against u.s. tariffs with tariffs of their own with potential guerra de la revision del potencial, guerra de la sheinbaum yesterday, interrupting a reporter asking about a potential tariff war, saying there will be no potential tariff war. >> i hope we rethink it. >> president biden calls trump's tariff threats on the us's north american neighbors counterproductive.

>> we have an unusual situation in america. we're surrounded by the pacific ocean, the atlantic ocean and two allies mexico and canada. and the last thing we need to do is begin to screw up those relationships. >> sheinbaum says there will be more conversations before trump takes office. as for canada, a government official this week says they are starting to think about tariffs. they can impose on the u.s. no final decision has been made. perry russom abc news, washington. >> today's the semifinals of the mountain west conference volleyball tournament between colorado state and san diego state. whoever wins that will play san jose state in tomorrow's final. boise state was supposed to play the spartans today, but withdrew from the tournament on wednesday over claims of a transgender student on the san jose state team. a lawsuit tried keeping san jose from the tournament, but a federal judge ruled in favor of the team, saying the spartans are following ncaa rules. the player in question has been on the team three seasons, and there have been no

pushback about her until this season. in a statement, san jose state said it's disappointed in boise state's decision, but the women's volleyball team looks forward to competing for a championship in san jose. this morning, some eager shoppers are foregoing the online route and going straight to the store. remember that abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez met with some people who camped out overnight to be among the first to get inside bass pro shop. >> there are already hundreds of people out here shopping on this black friday. they were drawn here for deals on everything from stocking stuffers, like this train set here for 14.99, to everything from apparel to firearms. the doors to the bass pro shops in san jose opening at five this black friday. the first 250 people getting a gift card worth between $10 and $500. about 200 people had already lined up before the store even opened at five in the morning. one shopper told me he lined up starting at 1030 last night.

this goose truce isn't exactly nice. on monday, the city council will consider a less lethal approach to deal with its canada geese overpopulation, goose droppings have caused elevated levels of e.coli bacteria in nearby lagoons. now, killing the birds was an option. they've done that in years past, but now foster city is looking at a surveillance system to remove eggs. it also plans to harass the geese with flashing lights and lasers, setting off fireworks or propane cannons and putting chemical repellents on the grassy areas. this thanksgiving marked an important first for one bay area mom and son. it's the first holiday they're together officially as a family. abc seven news reporter zach fuentes has more on how an adoption changed the life of a ten year old boy. >> ten year old davion brock has been excited about this thanksgiving for a long time. >> i'm just looking forward to, like, go see my family members and everybody else, like, eat.

>> that's because this thanksgiving is unlike any here his family have shared before. it's the first since he was adopted by his now mom, priscilla dixon. priscilla first started caring for davion when he was a baby, taking over care from his birth mother. >> you could take care of him for six months, but god wanted me to take care of longer. >> now, after all of these years, said davion, and priscilla are officially a family. >> we are excited. you know what i mean? because it was a long journey and we were there when that journey came to a joyful end. >> so davion was adopted on national adoption day the week before thanksgiving, santa clara county family court held a special celebration for families to make their adoptions officia. we got to be there for davion ceremony, capturing the moment his adoption became official. i would treasure today beyond all the days of my life, all the days of my life. so davion and priscilla were surrounded by family and friends in the courtroom. >> i had some of my friends, my sisters, my grandpas. i have my teacher, my nurse, my nurse, my i have a lot of my family

big deals for air travel. the tuesday after thanksgiving is historically the best day of the post holiday shopping period to get discounts on everything from flights to hotels. abc news reporter melissa adan has the details. >> whether you are itching to get to the beach or maybe a european getaway, if you're looking to take that dream vacation in 2025, this could be a good time to find the best deals on flights and hotels for some of those bucket list destinations. >> travel deal tuesday is typically a really great time to book some of those more expensive trips. top of mind for a lot of american travelers are italy, japan and hawaii. so everyone thinking about some longer haul flights to some of those really special destinations. >> the tuesday after thanksgiving is typically one of the best days to book your travel plans. >> you'll be able to find deals available for last minute holiday and new year's trips, as well as deals available for 2025. spring and summer. you

forward. the mothers milk bank in san jose is bringing back their donor milk pickup program, and they're hoping to spread the word. any mom who lives within santa clara county can pack extra breast milk and have it collected right from their doorstep. >> it really feels precious because i can share it with others. >> morgan and her eight month old daughter marie live in emeryville. morgan is happy to donate the life saving nourishment to babies in need. >> one of my friends, who i met through a moms group, she had her baby in the nicu and used donor breast milk and just seeing the look on her face of like, oh my god, and you're donating like thank you. >> just one ounce of donor milk can feed a premature baby for an entire day. founded 50 years ago, the mothers milk bank distributes over 2,000,000oz a year. we spoke with ceo jennifer benito. >> need for donor milk is growing, and we're seeing a lot more hospitals and outpatient needing more milk. and so that's why we're putting the call out. >> this holiday donor pickup service runs until january 15th.

forecast still up. now we don't. so these things happen early in the morning when you're having too much fun with high pressure controlling factor in our weather right now. taking a look at our weather headlines, this morning. cold once again with frost. but that frost advisory will expire shortly. this weekend will bring afternoon milder afternoons after a little bit of morning fog and then next week warmer weather above average. it will feel almost like spring, but right now it's very spring like. as this frost advisory remains in effect for the north bay interior mountains and valleys, the east bay hills and interior valleys, and the eastern santa clara hills so the frost could damage sensitive plants. bear that in mind. right now we're looking at 49 degrees in san francisco, oakland, 45, 40 to 42 at hayward and san jose, 35 at redwood city and 52 at half moon bay. with bright sky right now looking down into the bay from mount tam, 33, in santa rosa, 28, in petaluma, 32 right at freezing in napa. 33 fairfield, mid 30s at concord

and livermore. we move along. take a look at the afternoon conditions under sunny skies. we'll see high temperatures rising into the well, low to mid 60s around the bay shoreline. mid 60s down in the south bay 66 at san jose and morgan hill up in the north bay. we'll see low to mid 60s as well. and about 60 on the coast now tonight it's going to get cold again, especially in the north bay. not quite so cold as the last two nights, but cold enough that we will have frost advisory in effect again for those areas, those interior areas of the north bay and the east bay valleys right around the bay shoreline. lows will be about 40 to 43 degrees. and looking ahead at the accuweather seven day forecast, you can see it starts to warm up on sunday, which is the first day of december. temperatures will rise well above average going into the weekend. with the middle of the week i should say, with highs in the upper 60s, close to 70 degrees reggie aqui. >> thank you spencer. vice president kamala harris and second gentleman doug emhoff are back in dc for the thanksgiving weekend. yesterday they helped serve meals at the dc central kitchen, helping prepare thanksgiving for those folks. on

monday, the two were in san francisco after a post-election family vacation in hawaii and thanksgiving in the east bay started with thousands of runners hitting the pavement for a run around lake merritt. oakland's annual turkey trot benefited the alameda county food bank and the oakland public education fund, and a similar situation, benicia, where community members donned their most festive thanksgiving costumes to take part in an annual turkey trot there. now, this one benefits a foundation that raises money to help cancer patients pay the bills and cover other essential needs. at the salvation army central kitchen in san francisco, volunteers lined up early to pick up boxed thanksgiving meals. those meals, delivered to more than 4000 low income seniors and homebound people across the city, san francisco supervisor matt dorsey tells abc seven news. it's become one of his holiday traditions, part of what gratitude is and what thanksgiving is, is, is also giving back to the community and really being there for others to make sure that everybody has an
