boy were seriously injured in a shooting at a small religious school. the shooting happened at around 1 p.m. at the feather river adventist school. it is south of oroville. it has about 30 students. >> when deputies arrived, they found the gunman's body near the playground. the sheriff says the man took his own life. investigators say the suspected the shooter had visited the school, saying he wanted to talk about enrolling a student. minutes later, screams and gunshots. >> we have received some information that leads us to believe that the subject responsible for this shooting targeted this school because of its affiliation with the seventh day adventist church. >> and as for a motive, investigators think they have figured it out. >> we're trying to determine the veracity of that statement as to whether or not he actually was there to enroll or talk about enrolling a student, or if that was instead a ruse to get onto

meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya. >> yeah, dan and amal. we are expecting more 60s and 70s once again tomorrow, so i hope you enjoyed it. let me show you a live picture right now from our sutro tower camera looking at the golden gate bridge, there has been some fog. it's been developing near the coast and out towards the delta right now. visibility down to five miles and half moon bay, six miles in fairfield. so watch out as we take a look at live doppler seven. notice there are some raindrops trying to approach northern california, but we're just going to get some high clouds and the current fog out of it. today. it was a record setting 70 in downtown oakland. second straight day of this low 70s around cloverdale, san jose, redwood city, livermore, 65, in the city, 69 in concord. here's a look at what you can expect in the morning. fog and clouds 30s 40s mainly sunny at noontime. hazy sunshine in the afternoon. above average by a good 5 to 10 degrees once again. and then clear and starry in the evening. i do have some rain chances to talk about. i'll tell you about

it coming right up, dan. >> okay, sandhya, thanks very much. new developments from south korea. now the country's parliament has impeached four officials over the president's attempt this week to declare martial law in the country. the president himself is still facing calls to resign or be impeached himself. the declaration lasted six hours. the government quickly rebuked the president's actions for martial law. today, the president's defense chief resigned. he was reportedly the mastermind behind the martial law declaration. >> here in the bay area. koreans are protesting the actions of their president. thousands of miles away, dozens rallied outside the federal building in downtown san francisco tonight. abc seven news reporter tara campbell explains why the unrest there is having an impact here. >> martial law is a crime on the streets of san francisco. a showing of support for south koreans. >> i really wanted to come out today in solidarity with the people in korea. woke up. >> this was the scene in south korea tuesday. its embattled president declaring martial law,

deploying the country's soldiers on its own. people. >> i am concerned, but i'm also really proud of the korean people for standing up. and you know, taking a stand against this really kind of arbitrary action that he's taking. >> widespread protests forcing the president to lift his order. just six hours later, the country still reeling from the chaos. >> are you worried about your family just in respect to what's going on right now? >> absolutely. i mean, i just finished texting them, seeing how they're doing. there's been radio silence. >> a lot of family members are actually asleep overnight and woke up to hear of this kind of really alarming news. but by the time they had woken up, you know, the people were already victorious in many ways. >> the local korean community gathering, raising their own voice, diasporic koreans are here to show the koreans back at home that we are with them and that we're in solidarity with them. >> the south korean people were not only proud, but extremely resilient. we are powerful and

yeah, we're going to get through this. >> and while their loved ones continue the battle in south korea, they have no plans on backing down here. >> we just want to see that we're going to continue to be out here. we're going to continue to show solidarity with koreans back in korea. we're going to continue to show up. this is not going to be the last time you see us here. >> tara campbell, abc seven news. >> we could have a verdict in the bob lee murder trial as soon as tomorrow. the jury deliberated today but could not come to a decision. so they'll have to come back for at least one more day to continue their deliberations. lee was the founder of cash app. he was stabbed to death in san francisco last april. prosecutors say he planned the attack after hearing lee introduced his sister to a drug dealer who sexually assaulted her. well, many says he acted in self-defense. his attorneys played a video showing lee allegedly doing drugs off of a knife, hoping it can sow enough

doubt in jurors in sonoma county. >> the community is mourning a park ranger who investigators say was killed by her own colleague. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez has the latest on the death of cat pringle, and a message from her family. >> tributes are pouring in after the sudden loss of a beloved sonoma county park ranger. 38 year old ranger cat pringle has been identified as the victim of a murder last week. a sheriff's office deputy did a welfare check at cat's home in hood mountain regional park the day before thanksgiving. >> he went in the house and announced his presence. there was no response. he saw light on in another room to find two people dead. >> at this point, the investigation indicates a 43 year old man and former colleague likely shot pringle and then himself. investigators have not commented on a possible motive. >> there's all the emotion that goes into a death to begin with, but then when you find that it's

another employee of the county with an agency that we work closely with, it's it hits particularly close to home. >> the sonoma county regional parks described pringle as a dedicated and knowledgeable ranger who brought passion and warmth to everything she did. >> she was known as a, i would say, fearless but passionate, and she really took great pride into what she did as a ranger and advocating for her coworkers. >> damian evans is the president of sonoma county law enforcement association. they launched a fund to help pringle's family. >> and so we're trying to get that message out so that people can donate. and they can help contribute and honor her memory. >> pringle leaves behind a 22 year old son. >> when you have a single mother who's serving the public, sometimes we focus on other people and not ourselves, and she was known for that. >> pringle sister tells us cat raised an incredible young man. she released this statement to abc seven. my sister was truly a

beautiful force of nature with an incredibly resilient spirit, admired by all. she touched the lives of so many with her quiet confidence and her deep knowing empathy that always buoyed those in need. the world is forever a better place for having known her. in the south bay, lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> new developments. oakland city leaders are laying out the timeline for replacing recalled mayor shang tao. she's the first mayor in oakland's history to be recalled by voters. the alameda county registrar of voters should certify election results tomorrow. about two weeks later, the city council will formally accept the results. then current city council president nikki fortunato bass will become interim mayor, but she just won the race for a seat on the alameda county board of supervisors. keep in mind. so next month, she's moving on in january. a new oakland city council will be sworn in, and they will pick a council president who will become the new interim mayor. a special

mayoral election will not be held until mid april. the interim mayor will serve until the winner of the special election is sworn in. all of this unfolding as oakland faces a historic budget deficit. >> i also want to say very clearly that continuity and stability is critical during this time of transition. oakland's residents deserve for all of us to come together for our leadership to be strong and effective, to be focused on our fiscal responsibility. safe communities, as well as our other ongoing priorities. >> the change is obviously confusing, and it will be a little hard to follow in some ways, but oakland could have four mayors in the next six months, all as a result of the recall. >> oakland isn't the only place in the bay area holding special elections. san mateo county voters have a special election on march 4th to vote on whether to give the board of supervisors the power to fire the sheriff amid misconduct allegations, which the sheriff denies. in san jose, the city council has set a

special election for april 8th to fill the seat of former city councilman omar torres, who resigned after being arrested on child sex abuse charges. and then oakland would select its new mayor a week later. now it's time for our abc seven news advancer, where we take a look at things that will be in the news tomorrow. first, a big step for the a's stadium plan in vegas. a 30 year lease and other documents are expected to be approved by the las vegas stadium authority. this comes after the estimated cost of the new ballpark rose by about a quarter of $1 billion. this is seen as the last major obstacle before construction can start, likely in the spring. the a's will play in sacramento until the new ballpark is ready. >> tomorrow, bart's board could take the first step toward a name change for the lake merritt station in oakland. a board member plans to propose renaming the stop the oakland chinatown station. the station sits on land that used to be part of chinatown. that's why the transit agency will also provide an update on the campaign to combat sexual harassment on

on the murder of bryant thompson, the ceo of unitedhealthcare, one of the country's biggest insurance providers. detectives say the words deny, defend and depose were discovered on shell casings found at the new york city crime scene. uh- thompson was shot to death at point blank range by a masked gunman in midtown manhattan. this morning, shortly before he was set to attend. an investor conference. nypd detectives are working to figure out whether the words on those casings may hint at a motive. >> every indication is that this was a premeditated, pre-planned, targeted attack. >> the shooter is still on the loose. surveillance video shows the suspect entering central park several minutes after the attack. >> the santa clara county superior court has issued a warning to the public of scams regarding jury service. the court has seen an increase in cases where county residents are

contacted by phone. victims are told they've missed a court appearance and owe money as a result. county officials say real court personnel will never request sensitive information by phone. if in doubt, hang up and independently verify the legitimacy of the call by contacting the court directly. >> wildfire survivors will get a little more relief thanks to california senator alex padilla. >> the last thing you should have to worry about is that the government is going to tax the payments from your legal settlement that already fails to cover the full cost of your losses in the first place. >> the senate passed the protect victims of taxation after fire act. it bans the government from taxing settlement money for wildfire victims. the bill supports the victims of three major fires in our state in 2015, 17 and 18, as well as those affected by fires in oregon and on maui. it will also

ensure future victims will get access to their full settlements. >> a labor dispute could keep the curtain from going up on the san francisco ballet's nutcracker. the preparations are underway at the war memorial opera house, but behind the scenes, it's a much different story. opening night is supposed to be friday. that's the same day the contract expires with the american guild of musical artists. the union represents the dancers and stage managers. area businesses are worried they could take a significant hit during the holiday season. if shows get canceled. >> we rely on the on that business that we get from the jazz center, from the symphony, from the ballet pretty heavily. so it definitely will affect us at the center of the dispute are wages, the use of student labor and injuries. >> 33 performances are scheduled for the season. san francisco ballet says negotiations are ongoing. well, christmas, exactly three weeks from today. and if you want to find some of the best and brightest holiday lights in the country, hey,

morning. in terms of the sunshine, i do want to show you some live pictures right now. we do have some changes going on overnight tonight. right now visibility is good from these vantage points. but we do have some fog around. take a look at the visibility. down to nine miles and half moon bay ten miles in byron. keep in mind it's not just the fog. it's all the haze. that's reducing the visibility too. right now, all parts of the bay area, moderate air quality except san jose. it is orange, which is poor for sensitive groups. so keep that in mind as these pollutants are getting trapped underneath this high pressure ridge. and with the light winds, we're going to keep that moderate air quality going the next two days. south central bay. by friday, you start to notice some good air quality. looking at the next ten days, you know, today was a good 5 to 10 degrees above average. santa rosa average high is about 59 degrees. tomorrow you're going to be in the upper 60s remaining above average, even though those temperatures are coming down. as we head towards

early next week. finally, on saturday, the temperature will drop below average. you know what that means. we do have some rain coming our way. at least a chance. high pressure blocking the rain. blocking the storm track. it is sending the storm track to our north. but it's not strong enough to keep the clouds away. so we are certainly seeing the high clouds right now. we're also seeing some patches of fog 40s and 50s on your temperatures right now. a live view from emeryville a beautiful one overnight tonight. mix of clouds and fog. tomorrow afternoon it will turn sunnier and your weekend weather is cloudier and cooler on saturday. brighter on sunday. so overnight there are the high clouds. tomorrow morning you start out with those clouds and some fog and then by 2:00 in the afternoon, everyone is enjoying sunshine. your morning temperatures as a result of the cloud cover will primarily be in the 40s and 50s, but some locations like livermore and fairfield will come down into the 30s tomorrow afternoon. you still need the shades. you could get away with short sleeves when you're in morgan hills. 70 degrees 69. san jose 68. santa rosa, mid 60s san
