track? it is well, to our north. it's in canada, right now. that storm track is over. vancouver currently in the middle part of the month, likely around the 14th or the 15th. we'll see the storm track dip a little bit more to the south, and that will supply us with our next chance of rain. so what? that means a lot of sunshine for the foreseeable future. today, 60s and low 70s. it looks lovely out there. here's a look at future weather as we go. hour by hour by about the noon hour 60s on the board. then later on this afternoon we'll get into the mid 60s, low 70s, and even this evening, not too chilly at 730. we're mainly in the 50s at that hour. so the call from accuweather today get out, enjoy the december warmth. we have lots of sunshine out there, low 60s to the low 70s, but we are tracking rain on the horizon. we'll le

exchange to see how they're reacting. and so far, not much of a reaction. we're up about 72 points. the golden state valkyrie's expansion draft tips off tonight. you can watch it on our sister network espn. >> and we talked with the president of the valkyries, jess smith, about the excitement over the team's inaugural season, how the draft works, and a possible mascot. for those of us who maybe aren't familiar now have our attention on the wnba. what is all kind of going into the draft today? >> yeah, this is a huge day for us. we've been building this team since last october, when the golden state ownership group earned the rights to bring a team here to the bay area, and it was just in may that we announced our team name and the golden state valkyries and everything that went into that. but this is the first moment that we actually get to talk about players. our incredible general manager, ohama, has been hard at work, and in this moment, what we have the opportunity to do is actually take a player from every other wnba team. if we choose to, there's a couple of other pieces with that. we start with
6:47 am
expansion free agency gets to us in january and february, and then we'll have the college draft in april before tipping off in may. >> you have so much good juju on your side. first of all, you have sold a lot of tickets going into this season. so that's number one. you have the support of the community. the second thing is you just mentioned your gm. your gm doesn't just come from any team. your gm is coming from the new york liberty, who, by the way, just won the championship for the wnba. it seems like you're in a good spot. jess, i'm surrounded by really incredible people, everyone from this ownership group who is relentless in their pursuit of winning. >> to that, you mentioned, you know, not only coming from the liberty where she was a big part of what that team accomplished this year. but in her work globally with usa basketball player and coach natalie nakase, who we announced recently as well, who won two championships with the las vegas aces. so we have expectations here. we're certainly building something special. but you mentioned the most important thing for us, and that really is the fans and the community. you know, the bay area is a special market. we all
6:48 am
know that. everyone looks to us to see how we treat people. what comes next in this world. and we really take that responsibility greatly, especially representing the wnba and how our fans have lined up for over 20 000 seat deposits. we now have very limited seats left in our premium inventory. we're beginning that general seat conversion here shortly. it's really remarkable. >> yeah, and just with that actively growing valkyrie's fan base, can you give us a little insight? what is the strategy here? we don't want to give it all away. obviously ahead of the draft. but what is the strategy kind of entering it? >> we're building a culture and we're building a culture of winning, you know, from day one. so when they come in to be a part of the valkyries organization, i think one of the things that we pride ourselves on from a staffing perspective, too, is we're looking for those relentless high performers and good human beings. and when you combine those pieces to the puzzle, what you can accomplish together is really unstoppable. and we get the opportunity to do that from day one. so we want to win. that's the expectation of this organization, and there's
6:49 am
great talent out there, both in this moment, you know, and through the coming months before we build the season in may. so we will we will see what we can put together. >> i'm curious what happens day of just what's the mechanics of it is like, do you have a bunch of laptops open? is there are you on? do you have two phones by each ear? i just have no idea. i've never been through this process before, so help me through what that looks like. >> it's a good question. and each league and team, as leagues expand, handle this all differently. so this one is the first expansion since 2008 where the atlanta dream came into the wnba. and so what happens is actually the day before the draft, we are able to communicate what players were going to take to the stakeholders, including the players themselves. and so what you're going to see on live television is the first time that's shared with anyone else. so that will be a really big moment for the community to see you know, who's a part of this process for us. but it'll it'll be announced one by one team, by
6:50 am
team to showcase that process by roster. >> and jess, you're telling us what that process is going to look like. we also understand that we have an idea of what the jerseys are going to look like, and kind of how they're going to incorporate the iconic bay bridge. >> it is a great representation of, you know, the connection that the bay provides. our logo itself. if you've taken a look, you know, there's a lot of intention behind that. we have 13 lines within the bay bridge, lines that you see represented there, which are also wings where the 13th team coming into the wnba. so it's really quite beautiful. >> now as a sports expert, jess, i'm not as a sports expert, i have to ask the tough questions. and that includes mascots. you may know ellie, the elephant is that girl. it's ellie, and it's elphaba. and the two of them are taking over the internet by storm. we need to combat this. how are we going to do so? >> well, first, i love that you have such pride in what we need to do. so thank you for that.
6:51 am
and i agree is that girl. what an incredible opportunity for our league and that the liberty have done in in creating ellie you know to represent their brand. we are hard at work on if that is something that we are going to do what it would be everything that we do with the valkyries, it's really important is yes, it has to be. >> yes, i won't, i won't accept it. >> listen, keep commenting, keep bringing us your ideas, all right? >> this is a free idea, okay? give it val. the valkyrie comes out and she's wearing her armor, right? and then she starts out very stiff, like she's doing the robot, and then the armor gets flung out and then she does a whole dance on the dance floor, and it gets crazy and people go wild, and we don't even remember ella the elephant exists. >> and it's just that. just that. just. that's it. let's do it. >> yeah, i'm. listen to me. hear me and hear me now, i'm not good at a lot of things, but i have good ideas when it comes to mascots. and i think that we i think we can tap into something here. >> so is reggie hired as the
6:52 am
creative director? >> i'm pitching myself. >> listen, we're we're going to talk about that later. there might be other conversations to have, but it's passion is certainly something i'm taking in. and certainly going to make sure that we're thinking about as we make future decisions. >> amanda, that's not no, that's not no that's not no no no. >> all right i'll take it. >> that's a door that's open for me. >> you know, they didn't ask or they didn't allow us to ask. what about these custom jerseys? oh, here we go. well, everyone, the wnba expansion draft airs tonight. and we'll bring you a special version of toyota after the draft, right here on abc seven. sports director larry beil will be here in studio with valkyrie's head coach natalie nakase around 8:30 p.m. following the afc championship game. >> delcastillo and a key look great on the back of a valkyrie's jersey. >> i bet, she said she's working on it, though. >> we'll see.

song. it really was. she did great with that. >> why don't we say it was the song of the summer? it was just kind of. was it just known? no one ever said like, anointed. this is the song of the summer. >> yeah. you know what? i was pushing against it for a while. >> but sabrina, you lost. >> you had you had the song of the summer lady this morning. >> let's talk about warm temperatures this afternoon for december. we're looking live outside from our sutro tower camera. it is dry. it is warm today. so when is our next chance of any sort of wet weather? this will occur on the 14th. here's future weather showing you probably our next system. the bulk of the rain to our north will likely see some lighter showers, but on the heels of that system, another one likely on the 16th and the 17th. so the middle part of the month does become a lot more active than, say, the first few days of december have been. day planner today, some north bay fog out there early on. it's all about warm december sunshine again. we're dry today. 60s and 70s out there, so looking at the air quality today, most areas in that moderate category once again, because we have that lid on our atmosphere just kind of a
6:55 am
stagnant pattern underneath us. and that means that pollutants get stuck and trapped. and that's why we have the moderate air quality. so today we'll have temperatures in the 60s and in the 70s. once again, here's the accuweather seven day forecast next seven days for you december warmth today. now over the weekend it is cloudier with a mix of sun and clouds. it is cooler but both days are dry. it's still a nice weekend. full sunshine back here on monday and we'll keep it dry for much of next week guys. >> all right drew, thank you. deacon dave is representing the bay area on a national level with his dazzling holiday house in the east bay. and last night he won abc's great christmas light fight. we brought you his story yesterday morning where we got to see his massive display outside and even inside his home. he started the massive christmas display at his livermore home more than 40 years ago. deacon dave gets a $50,000 prize, and we're learning he's going to be using that for some good congratulations. >> that's awesome. >> well, up next, the seven
