here's abc's senior investigative correspondent aaron katersky. >> after a frantic three day manhunt tonight, the nypd now believes the suspect who gunned down unitedhealthcare ceo brian thompson has escaped new york city. last seen riding out of central park on a bike after the shooting, police say the suspect hopped into a taxi, headed to the bus station by the george washington bridge and made his getaway. >> we're asking every new yorker and american to look at the picture, the photo, and to assist us if you know him. if his face looks familiar, please reach out to our law enforcement. >> late today, the nypd deploying drones and an army of officers across central park to search for the gunman's backpack. a source tells abc news they discovered this backpack, believed to have belonged to the suspect. police sources tell abc news investigators now believe the suspect arrived in new york november 24th, ten days before the shooting on a greyhound bus boarding somewhere between atlanta and washington, dc.

detectives are using facial recognition technology on the only clear images of the suspect's face, captured when a clerk checking him into a hostel asked to see his smile. so she could compare his face to his id, which sources say was fake. police also pulled dna from items recovered near the scene, including a cell phone, along with a smudged fingerprint off a water bottle. the suspect bought at a starbucks minutes before the murder. investigators are also working to determine the motive. the words deny, defend and depose found on the shell casings. a possible reference to ways insurance companies avoid paying patient medical claims. protesters have targeted united health care, which reportedly denies one of every three claims. >> i think this shooter is trying to send a message that someone, either himself or a loved one or someone close to him, has been harmed by this insurance company. >> today, value based care is the centerpiece of our growth

tries to translate the language of invading aliens. >> now that's a proper introduction. >> this is a unique film. yeah, it takes kind of a raw, unflinching look at how overwhelming and how all consuming motherhood can be. is that an accurate description? >> i would say that's a very accurate description. yeah. it really kind of gets into the monotony and the nitty gritty and the isolation that can come with with motherhood and parenthood and really kind of delves into how it affects relationships and, and like marriages. >> oh, he's super cute. do you just love getting to be home with him all the time? it must be so wonderful. oh, yeah. >> i mean, that's a that's a good question. you know, but it's complicated, though, because, i mean, i would love to feel content, but instead i feel like i'm just stuck inside of a prison of my own creation where i torment myself until i'm left binge eating fig newtons at

midnight to keep from crying. >> her daughter, now a teenager. but the memories of early motherhood fresh as ever. what was it like for you? sort of re-identifying with that all these years later, having had your daughter so many years ago, i have to say it actually made me really miss those days. >> and kind of helped put in perspective, really appreciating each little moment that at times can feel frustrating or monotonous. but really, there's so much love behind it. >> should we go have some fun? wow. >> based on the novel by rachel yoder, the film, a black comedy commentary on the motherhood experience and how society sometimes treats moms, maybe this is the secret to happiness. >> we're just animals. >> i always approach roles really physically, but what's so fun about this is the deeper she gets into her feral self, the more powerful she feels. so it was really fun to, like, embody a woman who just she has no more, you know, what's to give.

>> and do you ever feel like the big secret is that we are god's? what we've create life. we make life. >> it's like her way of tapping in to something more like ancestral and primal and real in a way to connect to her son without all the rules of engagement that society can sometimes put on women and mothers. >> for adams, who also produced the film, the reaction has been rewarding. >> people really, i think they feel seen. so they're sharing really intimate stories about their postpartum journey. my husband felt really like he he saw himself in the scoot mcnairy character, who is not in any way a villain, but really just isn't tuned in all the way. >> you know, you should really stop worrying about your weird hair growth or whatever, you know, get on top of your week, you know, structure. you know, i read an article once that said
