a warning ever issued for san francisco. these kinds of warnings are rare here in the bay area, and the last one actually happened this past march. but before that it had been 13 years. now, despite the lack of warnings, there have been tornadoes. back in march of 2011, thunderstorms movingrch of across california spawned a waterspout off ocean beach and a tornado that destroyed a building in santa rosa. the closest tornado to the city was an ef one that was back in 2005. it damaged 54 homes as it tore through south san francisco. san francisco state professor emeritus john monteverde studied severe storms, and he says this is not normal. >> in one week, a tsunami

warning and a tornado warning. that's pretty remarkable in terms of how often we get those. >> monteverde says the 80 plus miles per hour winds at sfo this morning hint at a tornado. keep in mind, though, the national weather service will determine if it actually was the situation in scotts valley. francis, we found out just a few minutes ago that has been confirmed. >> they did confirm that tornado in scotts valley, and they're going to continue investigating the ones in san francisco, because they did get some preliminary reports that some winds were even up to 80mph in san francisco, although some of our records are peak ones in certain spots in san francisco are already measured at 53 miles earlier this morning, so we'll keep you posted on that. in the meantime, we can enjoy a little bit of a break right now from all the wild weather we've had. we could still see some scattered showers, particularly in the north bay, and we won't rule out the possibility of a thunderstorm through this evening. now, winds are still gusty, but they have
4:50 pm
definitely died down from those 80 plus mile per hour winds we saw at sfo. right now sfo is 17mph, gusting to 25mph in san mateo and 20mph in santa rosa. live shot. you can still see it's pretty breezy out there in san francisco right now it's 54 degrees. oakland, hayward, san jose at 57. redwood city 55. half moon bay, 54 degrees, and most temperatures are cooling into the low 50s in parts of the north bay like petaluma, down to 50. santa rosa 53. concord and livermore also 53 degrees. so here's the forecast animation. what you'll notice is the winds will really start to die down. since that cold front moved through today, they'll be calm. we'll have clear skies overnight. even into tomorrow afternoon. the winds will be lighter, but because of the light winds and clearer conditions tonight, temperatures will be very cold tomorrow
4:51 pm
morning. so there is a frost advisory that starts at midnight and continues until 9 a.m. we could see temperatures drop below freezing as low as 31 degrees through parts of the north bay valleys and some of the east bay valleys, even possibly in some of the peaks and some of the south bay valleys. lows tonight will be in the 30s, like santa rosa 31 degrees. lakeport 34. so it is going to be cold even around the bay. it's going to be in the low 40s tomorrow morning like san francisco 43, oakland, san jose at 42 degrees, and also possibly 38 in santa cruz. so tomorrow it's going to be very cold. by lunchtime, we'll still be in the low 50s and we stay in the low to mid 50s, even in the afternoon hours. then we have another system that will be coming through monday morning. in addition to that, high surf advisory will expire tonight at 7:00. we're going to still see some high breakers. and there's also a coastal flood
4:52 pm
advisory. this continues all the way through monday morning due to king tides will generally see the king tides during the morning hours. and here's a futurecast. this is our next system. notice it's going to bring us some moderate rain on monday morning. and then it moves through pretty quickly. so the accuweather seven day forecast that level storm two is mostly over dry tomorrow. so we can continue the cleanup before morning. rain arrives again on monday and then hopefully dry the rest of the week. >> well, the warriors much rather have been in las vegas right now, getting rey for the nba cup semifinals on abc seven. but today they shake up the roster, trading for veteran guard dennis schroder. according to espn, nba insider shams charania, the warriors are finalizing a deal with brooklyn to acquire that guy schroder or schroder. that is for de'anthony melton. melton, of course, underwent season ending acl surgery a few weeks ago. golden state will also get a second round pick from the nets while sending three second rounders
