think are going to be the most successful strategies at drawing down more federal money, is actually keeping money here at home. how do we do that? we do that by working on a bipartisan basis to, to, to, to overturn the limits on deductibility of california state and local taxes. >> tax reforms passed last time president trump was in office. limited tax deductions to $10,000. he has indicated he may reverse those limits on things like vat cap on your mortgage interest deduction. voters have also indicated they want government to work for them. and as the national election showed us here in california, there was voter frustration over some of the state's progressive policies. that's one reason why republicans gained ground in almost all counties in the state. >> our constituents, they don't feel that the state of california is working for them. >> and so the new speaker of the

california assembly suggested that we set certain issues aside and focus on charting a new path forward and renew the california dream by focusing on affordability. >> they're anxious because they feel it. they feel it at the grocery store when they have to pay their bills. they feel it every time they fill up their gas tank for their long commutes from work to home. >> the democratic party has not sufficiently addressed the rising cost of living, has not sufficiently addressed economic concerns. so certainly, if you're going to talk about the agenda for the for the legislature for the coming year, addressing affordability, the cost of living, housing, those related set of issues that we know are priorities for voters is critical for the legislature to address. >> so how do you make california more affordable housing, making energy cheaper and improving public infrastructure? all of that has to happen quickly and efficiently, something california doesn't always do. lyanne melendez, abc seven news.

>> all right, let's get you outside. how's it looking, lisa? >> well, we're still pretty cool, but you can see this interesting picture here from our exploratorium camera, where we have some cloud cover, but elsewhere, it's just clear and cold. a frost advisory for our inland valleys. plenty of 30s out there. a nice dry day today, but tracking a level one system tomorrow. it's a weak one. we'll have that. and the look ahead. the last full, almost full week of winter. of autumn. (box thuds) (water boils) (packet tears) (tea bag clanks) (water pours) - listening to people that drink bigelow tea is so important to my family, because making that perfect cup, it's the reason we do what we do hi, guys! - hi! - hey! - so what are you guys drinking? - constant comment. - when i'm drinking bigelow tea, it's just a moment for me. it's just me time. - that's what a cup of tea is. - it is.

you as we look outside there from our exploratorium camera. it is dark. it's cold. the official sunrise at 718, and we have about 5 or 6 days left before winter officially begins. and we've had a lot of it, haven't we? here's a look at our next system. it will arrive overnight in the north bay, spread across the bay area tomorrow morning for the morning commute. for the rest of us in the 40s in santa cruz, it is
6:47 am
chilly out there 47 downtown, 43 in oakland with upper 30s redwood city and half moon bay. and from mount tam you can see some of that cloud cover here. it's very foggy in spots and temperatures dropping off into the mid 30s with fog out by the delta. it is 36 in livermore, so we'll see these numbers drop a few more degrees before they recover to near average readings this afternoon, which will be in the 50s quarter mile visibility. novato improving just a little bit there. half mile santa rosa. but this is going to take some time. and it's going to be a week of tule fog for many of you in our east bay valleys. so we get the clear sky, the radiational cooling, that damp pavement. some of that tule fog certainly drifts into our east bay, and it takes some time to burn off. so as we get into the morning hours, it's cold. we have the foggy spots. today, partly cloudy, increasing high clouds in the north bay. and then for your monday, rain is on the way. it's going to be in the morning. it's a level one system and the latest forecast model
6:48 am
trending lower with the rainfall amounts. here's a look at our flood alerts. we still have one here in santa rosa looking at still those creeks and streams and roadways flooded and closed in spots. so really do be careful all across the bay area with the tides here higher than average. the full moon today looking at over seven feet at 1022. and you certainly have seen those flooded parking lots and some of the bike paths and running paths. and with all that water around, it's going to take a while for things to drain, but at least we have no more to add to it today. hour by hour we're sunny. then you see some of those high clouds tracking the overnight shower activity into the north bay very early, stopping this at 5:00 so you get a line of some pretty good downpours here. and then it's still just beginning to slip across the central bay. 8:00 so maybe the commute, the tail end of it will be wet for some of you, but for the rest of you
6:49 am
into the east bay by about 930, 10:00 and then the south bay. then it exits the bay area and we're dry for the rest of the day. so this system, just a level one here and allowing for anywhere from about 2/10 in redwood city, a 10th mountain view and san jose and perhaps 0.46 in novato. so we're looking at rainfall totals a little lower than they should be this time of year, east bay and south bay. but we're adding to them, and we could see more rain by next weekend. 57 today in oakland for your high 59 in fremont. so temperatures around average cooler in our inland valleys with low to mid 50s. upper 50s in santa cruz. it's a cool winters day out there. and then overnight tonight that extra cloud cover. so numbers should be in the 40s. the rain on the way in the north bay for the early morning hours. and as we look at your accuweather seven day forecast, noticing that that dry day to day today leads to the level one system, tomorrow the morning rain and
