drive. good evening and thank you for joining us i'm dion lim. from tornado warnings to flooding and damaging winds, the bay area has seen its share of wild weather this weekend, and we have another active day ahead. right away. let's get to abc seven news meteorologist frances dinglasan tracking our next storm. frances. >> diane. our next storm is a level one light storm, so that's better news for all of us. we had a day to prepare for it. we're expecting less than an half an inch of rain for most areas, maybe up to a 10th of an inch in some spots. it's going to be a slippery and messy morning commute, and then by the afternoon, there will be shower chances that linger, but it will be scattered in nature. i'll show you the futurecast and how it plays out by five in the morning. the moderate rainfall will mainly hit the north bay north of san rafael, and then by about 8:00 in the morning, the cold front sweeps through the heart of the bay area, making its way down through san francisco into the east bay. by 11:00 tomorrow

morning, you'll see it slide along the san mateo county coast and towards the south bay. and then you'll notice after lunch and into the afternoon, it turns into scattered showers that linger. but rainfall amounts generally less than half an inch for most everybody. we might see more than that in some of the north bay locations, especially in the higher elevations. and then i'll talk about when we have a chance to dry out, and then our next round of rain after that in the accuweather seven day forecast. dion here we go again. >> all right francis. thanks. and you can track the rain any time with the abc seven bay area app. it gives you the access to the same live doppler seven our weather team uses. we'll also send alerts with important updates. new at 11. now players and parents from an east bay youth football league were injured in an airboat accident in florida. the crash happened friday as families went out on the water for a tour. they were in town for a football tournament. that crash in collier county, northwest of miami, sent kids and parents

flying into the water. abc seven news reporter j.r. stone has details from team leaders. >> this helicopter video shows the scene after two airboats giving tours in the florida everglades on friday collided, injuring more than a dozen people. this is nearly 3000 miles away from california, but we've learned that the group on one of these boats was part of an eight and under youth football and cheer team based out of pittsburgh. they're called mega football and cheer, and they were competing in a national tournament in naples. team leaders tell us the group was on a swamp tour when one of the boats struck. the other parents and kids were thrown into the water. >> looks like there's someone underneath the boat trapped underneath the boat at this time. >> at least 16 people were hospitalized, according to emergency crews. those from the team tell us that some of the victims are now back in the bay area, but around 3 or 4 people are still in the hospital. in a statement posted to their facebook page, the group writes,

we're relieved to share that as of this morning, everyone is in stable condition. however, a couple of our cherished parents face a road to recovery. we're grateful for the strength and resilience of our mega community during this challenging time. family members of one of the victims tell us their loved one broke their tailbone. other injuries included broken arms and bad cuts, but everyone survived. we reached out to the airboat company to ask how something like this could happen, but as of this broadcast, they haven't gotten back to us. they did post a statement to their website on friday saying wooten's everglades airboat tours regrets that a collision involving two airboats occurred this afternoon. they went on to say, all of us at wooten's offer our sincere sympathies to everyone involved and wish them a speedy recovery. j.r. stone abc seven news. >> investigators say an overheated battery is to blame for a fire at an apartment building in san francisco. the fire ignited inside the building

on minna, near sixth. no one was injured, but two dogs had to be rescued from that apartment. firefighters say the battery caught fire while charging back in september. you may remember, san francisco fire officials told abc seven. the department has seen a significant increase in fires caused by lithium ion batteries. the board of supervisors is pushing to create safety standards for certain devices. some commuters in the north bay may need a change of plans. the entire smart system is shut down tomorrow because of storm damage. transit officials say downed trees blocked or damaged the tracks in multiple places. they have to make repairs and complete testing to prepare for the opening of the new smart petaluma north station. the testing was supposed to happen this weekend, but the weather got in the way. smart says it will reimburse commuters who have to take a taxi, uber and lyft tomorrow. if you requested on the smart website, they'll send you money to your clipper card. happening

now p-g-and-e's crews are still working to get the lights back on for more than 6000 people across the bay area. they've made steady progress all day, with significantly fewer dots on the outage map, as you see here. the north bay saw the worst of those outages. p-g-and-e's tells us they restored most people's power within 12 hours thanks to crews pre-positioned in hard hit areas. >> we use our meteorology team's machine learning models to pre-stage crews, equipment and resources in those areas that are forecasted to be hardest hit. and the storm came in really as strong and in the locations where it was forecasted. so we were well positioned and prepared. >> p-g-and-e's map shows most of the larger outages won't be fixed until tomorrow afternoon. meantime, there is quite a bit of damage in san francisco still, after yesterday's fierce storm, several large trees are still laying on their side of the road in golden gate park, waiting for crews to clear them

out. san francisco's fire department responded to more than 100 calls about damage from the strong winds. multiple cars were also crushed by toppled trees. also cleaning up tonight people in scotts valley after a rare tornado tore through town. officials in santa cruz county say it's pretty amazing that no one was killed. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard talked to witnesses who saw that funnel cloud on the move. oh my god. >> okay. >> oh my god. it's a scene straight out of the movies, but this was real life for people in scotts valley. saturday, a confirmed ef one tornado touching down on mount hermon road. ben hughes was there. >> everything was getting blown that way. cars were suddenly moving. you can see the traffic lights just leave the poles. >> the tornado touching down between two shopping centers, tearing through power lines and flipping cars over some with people inside. >> i'm like, dad, we need to go help people. so me and my dad sprinted out of target, and then

we helped this lady out of her car, and we made sure we put pressure on her head because she was bleeding. >> we started dragging branches off the street when the emergency vehicles were coming and to kind of create room, and everyone was kind of in a state of like, should i get my car and drive away or should i help out? or what do i do? >> police say five people were injured. one remains in the hospital. >> it was a miracle that no one was killed in this event. >> scotts valley vice mayor derek timm says the city is cleaning up and still assessing the damage. a classroom at scotts valley middle school was impacted by a fallen tree. >> really lucky that it didn't hit any of the infrastructure here or the buildings directly in this location. the fact that one person was critically injured is still tragic, but we're pulling for that person. >> the tornado cutting a clear path through the shopping center parking lot. tree limbs are everywhere. lots of smashed cars are here to check it out. this suv lost all of its windows. a sign at the local mcdonald's was trashed by strong winds. manager chris joaquin was working the

lunch shift. >> i saw some people outside. they ran inside and started holding the door shut and i could see that they were they were really holding on hard and uh. luckily, everyone was safe. >> customers in the drive thru were not injured. >> i think only one person needed a refund. and you know, because we couldn't complete the order. let's go home. >> let's go home. this community now, moving forward from a day they will never forget. >> we feel like we dodged a bullet on this one in terms of the injuries and no fatalities. >> in scotts valley. cornell, bernard. abc seven news. >> time now for abc seven news at 11, giving you a look ahead at the big headlines to come. first, we're heading into the second full week of verdict watch in a major murder case. deliberations in the trial of nima momeni are set to resume tomorrow afternoon. momeni is accused of killing cash app founder bob lee in april of last year. he faces first degree murder charges, but jurors can potentially consider lesser charges, including second degree

murder or voluntary or involuntary manslaughter. the jury has already deliberated for six days without a verdict. our next advancer, the diocese of oakland, is back in bankruptcy court on wednesday awaiting a judge's approval. the judge could sign off on the plan to reorganize and settle hundreds of sexual abuse claims. the catholic church filed for bankruptcy protection last year, overwhelmed by lawsuits. on friday, some of those victims testified against the proposed settlement. the diocese is offering between 160 to $198 million to settle those abuse claims. and our final answer on tuesday night, the san jose city council will discuss plans for the city to potentially break off from p-g-and-e's. earlier this month, our media partner, the mercury news reported p-g-and-e's has offered the city of san jose an agreement to build out its grid and provide firm commitments and deadlines to improve service. the utility

jewish museum closed its doors. the gallery in the south of market area is shutting down for at least a year, citing financial struggles and bigger downtown challenges. abc seven news reporter tara campbell talked to some of the last people out the door today about the impact of the closure. >> some somber faces and sad goodbyes sunday at the contemporary jewish museum in san francisco. >> i wanted to kiss this place goodbye because i can't believe it, that they're going to close it up for a year. >> the museum is shutting its doors for at least a year.its >> i don't know how i'm going to do it, because automatically we take bart, we come down. our first stop always is the jewish museum. >> the work that we're doing now, by taking a temporary closure and putting together the team work to re-envision the contemporary jewish museum will enable us to have a long term future. >> the museum's executive

the long haul. >> i'm just like two fingers crossed, knock on wood that it comes back as soon as possible. >> so for now, it's not really a goodbye, but more of a see you later. >> i got to live till next year. that's the only reason i'm going to live. so the museum will open up and i'll be the first one to walk in. >> tara campbell, abc seven news. >> firefighters in san francisco are investigating the cause of a warehouse fire in the dogpatch neighborhood. it burned early this morning at minnesota and mariposa. this is near the children's hospital. but the fire department tells us the hospital was not under any threat. no injuries were reported. over in the east bay, a barge that appeared to drift into the emeryville crescent is back out to sea. our emeryville camera captured this video just before 930 this morning. yesterday, that barge showed up along the shoreline along i-80 between emeryville and berkeley. it was an eye catching sight for drivers on the freeway. the coast guard says the 100 foot barge, identified as the mud

scow, ran aground and was resting on the sand. pollution teams assessed the situation. then a tugboat had to wait until high tide to tow that vessel out. well, check this out. ski resorts are relishing even more fresh snow from this weekend's storm. you're looking at video from palisades tahoe, which says it received 17in of snow over the past day, with a season total of 102in. it wasn't just about hitting the slopes, though. today, it was day two of the outdoor music festival. tahoe live with diplo and lil wayne performing. snowy weather forced the festival to reschedule. lil wayne's performance from yesterday to today, but look at how picturesque this looks, francis. >> yeah, it was a gorgeous day. we had even some sunshine and some blue skies over parts of the bay area this afternoon. great day to recover because more rain is on the way. oh boy. and more snow for tahoe. >> here we go. >> here's live doppler seven satellite radar image. we're seeing clouds increase. the

rain will move in late tonight, overnight into early tomorrow morning. and that does mean snow for the sierra once again with a winter weather advisory in effect starting at 4 a.m. tomorrow. so you do not want to be driving monday if you do need to head up there. wait until tuesday morning when the advisory expires at 4 a.m. we're expecting another 3 to 8in above 5000ft, so we could even get more snow over the peaks and gusts 40 plus miles per hour, which means we will likely see chain controls and travel will be difficult. temperatures are now dropping into the 40s for many areas. a few low 50s still out there like hayward and san jose at 51, san francisco 49, oakland 48. and cooler in the north bay like cloverdale and santa rosa. right now at 45 degrees, it's a really pretty view from mount tam as we're seeing some of those clouds. but you can still see across the bay right now. and here's what you need to know. so tomorrow is going to be rainy mainly for the morning commute. and then it turns into scattered showers in

the afternoon. then tuesday through friday we get a nice break. sunshine, partly cloudy conditions and temperatures will be milder. some areas might even climb into the low to mid 60s by the end of the week. however, the next storm we're tracking is heading our way next weekend and it looks light at this point, but we'll keep you posted on that. so again, the futurecast shows the rain moving through the north bay during the early morning hours. by 7:00, it's still mainly north of the golden gate bridge. and then you notice in the latter part of the morning, it slides south through the san mateo county and then towards the south bay. then in the afternoon we'll get scattered showers, and then it starts to clear out in the north bay early on, rainfall anywhere from a 10th of an inch to half an inch, and then more in some of the higher elevations, especially in the north bay. ukiah, possibly up to 6/10 of an inch. but then you'll notice some spots, like richmond, only less than 2/10 of an inch, and san

francisco, oakland and san jose. close to half an inch is the latest estimate. in addition to that, the lows will be a little bit milder. temperatures generally in the low to mid 40s, but you'll notice livermore and morgan hill will be in the upper 30s, so that's a little bit cooler. santa rosa 42. and we'll see mid 40s san francisco oakland 46 san jose 45 degrees. and of course a flood alert. still flood alert advisory still continues for parts of sonoma county, basically near mark west creek. and we're still expecting flooding possible of rivers, creeks, streams, roads. and this is also due to excessive runoff. and we're going to get more rain tomorrow morning. there's a coastal flood advisory also still in effect with high tide tomorrow morning close to 11:00. highs tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 50s around the bay. and here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so we've got that rainy morning scattered showers in the afternoon.

now as the bay area gets ready for another round of rain in southern california, they're preparing for dangerous winds and wildfire conditions. it could be a challenging week for firefighters in los angeles, still dealing with the smoldering franklin fire. that fire burned several homes and forced evacuations in malibu last week. legendary actor dick van dike lives in the fire zone, and says a group of good samaritans saved his life. he told reporter leanne suter, with our sister station in los angeles about the chaotic moments as the flames closed in.

appear for questioning on wednesday on charges of rebellion and abuse of power. moving now to the latest in a mystery unfolding in the skies over several states. dozens of drones spotted across at least seven locations in the northeast. federal authorities say there is no evidence the drones pose a threat, but a growing chorus of lawmakers are calling on the government to do more. abc's alison kosik explains the push for answers. >> federal authorities have deployed additional resources to new jersey following a rash of reported drone sightings across the northeast. drones spotted in the skies above. at least seven states from new york to maryland. dozens reported in new jersey, including at a naval weapons station. two men in boston are facing charges after police say they flew a drone own dangerously close to that city's logan airport. the faa confirming stewart international airport, north of new york city, temporarily closed its runways

no. for the second time in just over a month, klay thompson was back at chase center tonight. the splash brother and four time nba champion with the warriors got the last laugh as his mavericks walk away with a win over his former team. tonight's game was a bonus klay game. both the warriors and mavericks lost in the nba cup quarterfinals, setting up tonight's regular season game. klay finished with a season high 29 points on nine of 14 shooting, hitting a season

high seven from downtown. he missed a free throw late that could have given him 30 points. he was upset about that, his first ever win over the warriors, which means he's now beaten every team in the nba at least once. and afterwards, i asked him if he was able to enjoy his downtime during this return trip to the bay area. what were you guys able to do or what were you able to do on your off day? did you go home like what were you able to do in the bay area? >> i went and drove by my old neighborhood. and i was able to go to my friend's house in oakland, seth, and have a great meal. drove by oracle, drove by downtown oakland. and it was very surreal because i was 21 years old when i came here. and to see the city and the town is always special and so many good memories. >> kind of love. introspective. klay. as i mentioned, klay made seven three pointers tonight and the shots were just falling for both the warriors and the mavericks tonight. plenty of nba records set in this game. the two teams combined for 48 made

three pointers. the previous record was 44. the 30 combined threes in the first half was also an nba record, and the warriors finished with 27 three pointers, which tied a franchise record. both sides agreed. it was pretty fun to be a part of. also a little goofy no team could miss. >> you know, i think they had 18 threes at halftime and we're still up, which is insane. so it felt like nobody could miss today. it was a fun game, a lot of makes, but it was a physical game too. >> they controlled the entire game. on a night where we made 27 threes and didn't turn the ball over. it's the modern nba. it's a different world. it's a different game. and you know ten years ago you have you see that kind of offensive stat sheet for the offense. you know for our team i say we win that game by 20. you know maybe 30. >> a lot of fans think too many threes are being attempted. so it's nice to show that shooting
