[ cheers and applause ] that's very kind. thank you for watching. happy holidays. thank you for joining us here in hollywood, where we are slowly inching into the holiday week. no one at work is working right now. everyone is secretly shop online. [ laughter ] which makes sense. why not spend the money in the same place you make the money? [ laughter ] it's logical. in washington tonight, president biden took part in the annual lighting of the white house christmas tree. not only did he light the tree, this year he gave it a preemptive pardon just in case it falls over on someone or gets all coked up and throws its gun in the dumpster, who knows. [ laughter ] they kept referring to it as

"biden's final tree lighting ceremony," which, when you're his age, is probably not what you want to hear. [ laughter ] everything you do could be your final time doing it. could also be his last time wear shoes outside. [ laughter ] in new york last night, they lit the big tree at rockefeller center, which is supposed to be a fun and festive occasion. but that was not the case for one flava flav. who took to twitter last night to say -- "i feel weird. i was invited to the rockefeller tree lighting tonite and i was escorted to see my boys, the backstreet boys." [ laughter ] flava then deleted his tweet and followed up with -- "i deleted the tweet, but my spirit is broken." [ laughter ] and then we have another character, pete hegseth, trump's nominee for secretary of defense, who's now defending himself against allegations of sexual misconduct and drunken behavior in the workplace. he's been making the rounds on capitol hill trying to get support from senators. today, he wore his shiniest american flag pin, his snazziest flag pocket square, and his sharpest red, white, and blue

"let me be clear, i have no human qualities." [ laughter ] "my eyes are completely black, like a dark wizard. and my soul left my body many, many years ago."
