moment, showing a flash and a puff of smoke from the jeju air flight minute before it touched down, experts believe it could be a bird strike and a contributing factor to the crash. two crew members in the back of the plane, miraculously pulled out alive. one of the survivors, a 33-year-old flight attendant is recovering from the icu, he told the already been rescued when we came to. >> and, others are processing such loss, three family members were on board for this man, he tells me "my heart aches, every time i speak i feel like i will burst into tears". >> sweeping through the area and combing through the reckage, there are in-flight magazines, safety cards and bits of clothing. trying to look for the

my grandfather, like others do i have memories of him taking my fishing, sitting around and talking about what i should do in my life, when i graduated from college, he and i sat down and i said what would you do if you were me, and he said would go to africa and join the peace corps, so i did that. he's an interesting guy, but he was a grandfather to me, first. >> rebecca: you end up in politics, so i am curious, i am sure that came up in conversation with him, what did he think of all of that, and how did he guide you? >> guest: i think, you know, he's one of those people who demonstrates that you can be in politics and not change who you are, that you can be an honest person, a person who out faith and love and still be in politics. and i think that was my hope. and you know, politics is messy. and he was always one of those rare people who was able to reach the highest levels of it

without compromising who he was. his campaign advice was not super-helpful but advice about how to be a good person was great. >> rebecca: what was the campaign advice that didn't pan out? [ laughter ] >> guest: he ran for office in a time where he shook 600,000 hands to run for governor, it was talking to people, and these days it's more about raising mony and trying to get on tv, et cetera, it's a different world. money in many ways a worse one, but he was a remarkable person who did change with the times and, you know, never -- that picture of him and my grandmother i think sums up who they are, that love story is one of the great american love stories. >> rebecca: a truly beautiful relationship. speaking of money, he was famously frugal, i understand there's a funny story about replacing appliances or he didn't want you to do such things? >> guest: even to this day, the microwave in the kitchen

in their house ticks when you turn it up to 2 minutes, tick-tick-tick. the phone has a cord, today. because why would you get a new phone if this one works fine? they grew up in the depression era, spent 8 years in politics and the other 92 years he was at home in plains georgia, working around the world, doing things for the carter center and otherwise. and but really he was a small-town guy .... who lived out that faith that is reflected in that picture. and the love that's reflected in that picture. >> rebecca: i think a lot of people can relate to that idea of small-town principals, depression era grandparents, for example. and how are you now furthering your grandfather's vision at the carter center. >> guest: i mean he built this remarkable organization. over 40 years, it's been his life's work, and there's 3,000

i felt the love coming into this segment. one thing i love to do, i tell all of my clients to do this is write the list of characteristics, what you are looking for in a partner, and take it a step further, take stock of the previous year and see who were you in 2024, who do you want to become in 2025. i like to break it up between mind/body/spirit. a goal could be taking a class stolearn something new, nigh class to learn something new, a new skill, join pickleball or a run club but if you are not athletic i am not either, backgammon, and in-person groups. it's important for self esteem and confidence to do something that makes you feel good about yourself, get into volunteer work, join a religous organization, meet people that way, too, you have a powerful

list of values to bring to dates and to talk about. >> rebecca: i love that idea of also just feeling good inside. because i think new year's, it can bring up reflection, and the reflection is not always positive, you may look back on the previous experiences and love, and feel negative. how do you overcome that in the year ahead? >> guest: it's really easy to think about the negative stuff, but anytime you feel a bit down, think about the positives and i am sure we have done plenty of things in the last year, so many things you can do, making goals that are realistic is important, and so a couple of things that you can do every week and they feel important. check in on family members, anything like that. >> will: talking about 50 dates here, we have lee michael who has a question for you, take a look. >> sound clip: tons of men are struggling to show up on first dates, they are not confident, not able to communicate effectively, and feeling

nervous. what are the tips and advice to help men show up comfortably, confident and nail the first date? >> guest: i mean, listen, it's just a first date, not married at first sight. people need to be not so hard on themselves to put too much pressure on first dates. a trick that's helpful is having a security blanket with you. a physical object, you don't have to use it but knowing it's there, simple as having a screen saver on the phone, a picture that tells a really good story you want to share on the date or something like bringing a deck of cards if you like playing cards, if there's a lull, you could be like "let's play a game of rummy" or anything that can be fun, it can calm nerves. >> if you know magic, that would be cool. >> rebecca: i can juggle. [ laughter ] >> will: say the first date goes well, how do you go about getting the second date? >> guest: to make the first date go well, you need to spark a connection, build a

just look at what a chimney fire did this to home in kansas. the flames spread. >> gio: i am gio with good morning america. to make sure the home owners were safe, we went door to door in 2019, in teaneck new jersey, inspecting chimneys above, below and within. the master chimney sweep, michael, inside of is chimney, he discovered creosote glaze, a byproduct of burning wood. the blaze is combustible, if a spart goes up, it would ichnite and result in a chimney fire. ignite we leave the home with instructions to follow up. and remember, it even if you don't have a fireplace, you may still have a chimney, some are connected not to fireplaces but heating equipment like a furnace, boiler or hot water heater, a concern here comes debris

falling into it and clogging the vent, pumping deadly carbon monoxide back into the home. check out this vent from the furnace, we were shocked. >> there's a bird, you want to look? >> sure is. we have a bird in there. >> dig deep and pull out leaves by the shovelful. it could build up if not removed. up on the roof, the lead technician, christopher, shows us how the debris got in. there's no chimney cap, leaving it wide open to the elements. we installed one on the spot, a fix to this potentially serious problem. >> get chimneys inspected once a year, make sure the inspector is certified. >> rebecca: important information there, how do you realize there may be something wrong? >> gio: it was tricky, have a look outside, one thing you can do is look outside, see if there's cracks in the chimney, and look for any white or black stains, loose bricks or if there's soot going into the
