different commuters. and for some it you know, it's easy, right? i mean, for an e-bike or they talk to who just has to go across the brooklyn bridge and she's a few blocks from work and it's fine for her. she has a big cart so she can put all her groceries in at the end of the day. but for other people, i mean, they talked about a music teacher who had, you know, all these different instruments he had to carry around. and he doesn't have that luxury. he has to have a car to be able to do his job. >> yeah, i agree with you. it doesn't work for everybody. i think most people would love to jump on a train and get to work. you can be on your phone and it's that easy and it's less expensive. you're not putting wear and tear in your car and having to pay for gas, but people are driving most of the time because they need to drive. it's more convenient. you have a kid pick up drop off, right? there's so many reasons. so i see the point and i see the goal. but i think for some people it's just impossible. and unfortunately it's just going to cost them more money. >> yeah, yeah. it'll be interesting to see what happens. well, this next one, workers are feeling a little stuck, and some

may be looking to make some big changes in the new year. reporter brian abel looks at what you can do if you're feeling trapped. >> employees are feeling overworked, undervalued. underpaid. >> according to gallup polling, people are looking for new jobs at the highest rates in nearly a decade. but in a cooling labor market, along with a low unemployment rate, there's fear those opportunities may not be there. >> the time between jobs for people to find a job after they lose a job is pretty high. it's 23.7 weeks on average. >> gallup refers to this shift as the great detachment, and it's causing frustration for employers to 18% of people in their latest report are actually engaged at work. >> so that means you've got 82% of your people as an employer who are saying not feeling it. >> if you're not feeling it and ready to make a move, you can simply start by talking to the people you know. >> reach out to that network to

identify people that they know who would be in a position to give advice, to make introductions, and don't rely on one click job applications with the same resume each time to land you that dream position. tailor the resume that you're sending in so that it uses the keywords that are in the job description. >> in washington, brian abel reporting. >> all right, as that lady said, not feeling it, 82%. >> i mean, that's staggering. yeah. >> we went from hot job summer to like cool or cold search winter that we're dealing with right now. i get it, a lot of people are thinking, well, can i get a remote work job somewhere? can i get a job with more flexibility? there aren't enough of those jobs in the market to meet the demand. clearly with folks who are looking for those opportunities. so it's tough right now if you're trying to find something like that. >> yeah. it is. i mean, that quiet quitting term where you don't formally quit, but you just disassociate from the job. and we see that too, of course.
4:43 pm
but people want to know about the perks. like you said, can i work from home or are you going to give me more vacation? >> you know, people want something better, right? yeah. >> i think the pandemic really changed things up for so many people. obviously, you know, they're seeing what they were able to do and what kind of life. you know, they want all those incredible lunches at meta. >> i had some family members who work there, and that was the case before the pandemic, and they've certainly scaled that back. so yeah, it's all that stuff that, you know, matters. >> certainly changing the workforce for sure. well, forget baby showers. nesting showers are apparently the new thing. okay. so what's a nesting shower or nesting party instead of gifts and games, it's where friends come over to build furniture, fold clothes, and essentially do chores around the house. for those expecting parents, the trend, of course, is popular on social media, with videos getting millions of views and searches on pinterest have increased 200% in the last two years. as someone who's
4:44 pm
childless, i think this is a cool idea, right? instead of like, giving people, you know, money, right? give them the things they really need. you know, help with things around the house, help do chores. it makes sense to me. >> karina, you can attest to this. >> i can't. okay, so, steph, you were part of my baby shower and i absolutely loved it. but if you would have said we're all just going to come over, we'll get pizza and we're going to help you build everything, put batteries in things, wash the clothes, hang them up, put them away. there are a million things to do, especially like two months out. you start realizing all the things you need and you start freaking out about it. so if you were to say, we're just going to come over and do this, i would be so happy about that. i would have loved it. building furniture and putting things away. not not my thing. >> well, you're giving me ideas now for baby number two, karina. oh, great. >> come on over. >> come on over. >> i'll order the food. >> ask and ye shall receive. karina, you know what? >> you definitely should go with that. karina. you know how
4:45 pm
practical it can be to have that extra set of hands. >> extra set of hands, even right now, so. oh, yeah. anytime you guys want to come over and just. just hold the baby. yes. >> little niko, my gosh, he's the cutest guy. >> yes, he is. and he's a smiley, happy baby. >> he certainly is. >> all right. >> if you are looking to get rid of those old christmas trees, here's a possible option. throwing it. yeah. in germany, competitors line up to toss these trees you're seeing here in the event is inspired by a scandinavian tradition called canute. it focuses on three disciplines distance, height and slinging. now as five two. you guys, i got to say, if i were to do this, i'd have to be a really tiny tree. >> we'll get you a little charlie brown small christmas tree. >> there we go. >> you know, one of the many ones, right? >> right. >> come on. you've got muscles. >> well, i don't know, sandy. i'll have to. i'll have to show you some time. i don't know how
4:46 pm
far i would have to. >> how it would go. this video is so entertaining. >> like, people are really getting the aggression out. >> yeah, yeah, i know, maybe that's some of the incentive for people to do this. there you go. >> oh, interesting. >> i didn't get what i wanted. i'm going to throw the christmas tree, throw the whole tree out. >> yeah. oh, gosh. >> wel
