this guy. his name is 2 low. was on a podcast called "one on one with mike d," who is not the mike d from the "beastie boys." this is a lower level mike d, he's more like a mike d minus, if you will. but to mike d's credit, his show gave us quite a moment when a gun went off in 2 low's and literally ended the year with a bang. >> trying to be let's unite and the choices you got in life. those were your choice. justin trudeau announced that after nine years in office, he will step down to focus full-time on being handsome. his announcement got off to a rocky start because his speech, the pages from his speech started flying off the podium. i feel like that's a sign god wants him to stay in power, right? trudeau, here he is, he travelled to mar-a-lago last month to meet with president-elect trump, who today suggested again that canada should become part of the united states. trump does not seem to like trudeau, and you want to know why he doesn't like justin trudeau? just take a look at this moment right here. she is gazing into his eyes like he is a backstreet boy in 1989. justin trudeau said he believes his resignation will bring the temperature down, which isn't that the last thing canada needs? i mean, it's 2 degrees in winnipeg right now. but justin trudeau is officially "ooot."

meanwhile, it was a big, big day for balloon animals at mar-a-lago because eric trump turned 41 years old today. his father, donald shared a very heartfelt post about his son on truth social. he wrote, "had this election not been won by donald trump, civilization would be lost." screw eric. he wrote nothing about eric. it's actually very convenient that eric's birthday is on january 6th. that way trump only has to remember the two biggest mistakes he ever made on one day. [ applause ] today, of course, is the fourth anniversary of our capitol being stormed by the buffalo wild wing of the republican party. i can't believe it's already been four years. seems like only yesterday that nancy pelosi was hosing feces off her desk. democrats had a moment of silence today to rub it in a little bit, and over the weekend house minority leader hakeem jeffries urged demonstrates to remain silent but deadly. >> we will fight hard to defend

[ cheering ] for "emilia perez." do you have fun at awards shows? >> well, it helps if you have a friend. i'm very awkward. i don't know should i say hi, and then sometimes i just insert myself and it's just awkward.

so i'd rather avoid the awkwardness. >> jimmy: well, yeah. and you say you're never sure if you should insert yourself. do you ever find yourself in a situation where you wish you hadn't? >> yeah. >> jimmy: yeah? >> there is like cool actors that come in and i'm like yeah, i know, right? and they're like oh, where'd you come from? >> jimmy: is there anybody you ran into that you were genuinely enthusiastic about meeting? >> i get so excited. i know i feel like such a goober, but i get so excited about that stuff. but in particular, salma hayek was so -- so -- >> jimmy: salma hayek. >> so sweet. she was kind, and she basically wanted me to have her spot. and i was like no, no, no. and the only thing i could say to her is my dad has a crush on you. and she's like okay. first thing i said. >> jimmy: and your dad does.

did you tell your dad that you told her? >> i didn't have to tell him. >> jimmy: when you were nominated for two different projects like you were last night, which cast do you sit with? because they're at different tables. you kind of have to pick. >> nope. i went to both. >> jimmy: both? you moved around? >> yes! marty was trying to steal my ring. everybody was normal. i loved being with my "only murders" cast and then celebrating emilia. >> jimmy: you mentioned marty short, martin short and steve martin are your co-stars on "only murders in the building." and martin short -- by the way, congratulations on your engagement. [ cheering ] >> thank you. >> jimmy: and i saw a side of martin short that i'd not really seen before. i believe we have the video here. now marty is examining your engagement ring. >> he is twisting it, taking it

[ laughter ] or is it confusing? >> most of the time, yes. >> jimmy: and as a famous person, very powerful award nominated woman, are you expected to give them better gifts than the rest of the family? >> maybe. but i remember once i made my nana cry because i got her a bracelet, but she wanted a nice card from me. >> jimmy: she wanted a nice card or car? >> a car.

>> jimmy: that is selena gomez in "emilia perez," which is netflix now. and won the golden globe and really is a really, really good movie. i really enjoyed it. it is totally original. i've never seen anything like that film. >> thank you so much. it's very hard to explain, though. >> jimmy: it is. we were talking through the commercial. i don't think you should explain it really. >> i think you should experience it. because when you throw in musical, cartel and drama and comedy, it can be a bit confusing.

>> jimmy: yeah. and also, you can go i don't know. this sounds a little artsy for me. but it's a lot of fun to watch. >> it is. >> jimmy: and also, i think that explaining it could potentially ruin some of the surprise of the film. >> definitely. >> jimmy: yeah. so don't say anything about it. >> okay. all right. >> jimmy: your character is married to a drug lord. >> yes. >> jimmy: and hence the cartel aspect of it. and also, there is a sequence that is like kind of a fever dream dance sequence in the movie. >> right. >> jimmy: that's crazy. >> guillermo: well, it was interesting because i had never actually performed in this way. it was a lot of intricate movements. and it's a very aggressive scene. i felt the power of it and then the next day i felt pure regret everywhere. >> jimmy: did you? >> i had whiplash at one point. i mean, my head is moving in all different directions. and, yeah, it was really -- it

was worth it. >> jimmy: can you really rehearse? can you practice something like that? is that something that you can really give 100% when you're not doing it for real on camera? >> yeah. i think that's what i had to do. it was really -- i mean, it wasn't something i am used to. it was very intricate in a weird way, just looks like i'm shaking my entire body. but every movement meant something. and it was very different than anything i'd done. >> jimmy: do you know that when you read the script, or is it like and then she dances? >> basically, that's what it said. >> jimmy: it did, it's not explained to you what's going on there. >> but the tone of the song when you listen to it, you expect it to be some sort of aggressive moves. >> jimmy: uh-huh. >> so that's where i ended up. >> jimmy: because you don't seem like an aggressive person. but i guess that's acting. that's what they call acting. >> oh, yeah. i guess. i guess. i was super into it, though. it was one of my favorite scenes. >> jimmy: did you practice it privately before going on stage?

>> i was too embarrassed to practice privately. i felt like i looked ridiculous without the help of my choreographer. so, yes, i had done it a few times in front of friends, but they mostly laughed at me. >> jimmy: that's interesting. you can get embarrassed when you're by yourself. >> yeah. >> jimmy: that's the only time i'm not embarrassed. >> you know, maybe i have this creepy thing that i always feel like i'm being watched in some way. >> jimmy: yeah, i guess being famous as a kid is the kind of thing that gives you that feeling. >> i meant i'm very paranoid. >> jimmy: are you very paranoid? >> yeah. i tend to be a little bit. i just love like being able to be myself and any of the outside stuff sometimes can be overwhelming. >> jimmy: you guys -- i won't ask you when you're getting married. maybe you don't know when you're getting married. but i do have an engagement gift for you. >> what?
