been saved. >> good>> good evening. thank yr joining us tonight. a state of emergency in los angeles as a wildfire continues to spread quickly, fueled by hurricane force winds threatening modest and wealthy neighborhoods, including homes to celebrities like tom hanks and reese witherspoon. abc's matt gutman is in the path of the fire in the pacific palisades. matt, what's it like there? what do you see? it looks awful, byron. >> the wind is still whipping through the canyons. here. you can see the fire right on the ridges. those are homes engulfed in flames. but i want you to see where we are right now. this is sunset boulevard, right in the heart of pacific palisades. and all of these cars, including us at one point, were stuck in this gridlock. and in order for firefighters to actually get to the fires, they had to carve a path. and so a bulldozer literally shoved all of these cars to the side. you can see

the bumper is ripped off, the scratches along the vehicles here. there's glass in the roadway. and then the motorists themselves had to get out of these smashed cars and flee for safety on foot. tonight, the palisades fire burning homes and forcing thousands to flee for their lives and one of the wealthiest enclaves in the country. heidi montag and husband spencer pratt have lost their home to the fire. according to tmz, actor james woods posted this video of flames near his home. >> we've got a lot of planes going over dropping water, but. >> and actor josh gad posted this video of the view from his home. >> seen flames from my house like this ever. >> the fire erupting in the pacific palisades foothills west of los angeles around 1030 local time. fire trucks racing to the scene, aircraft attacking it from above. >> we threw everything we had at it really quick. we knew that if

we didn't get it in 20 minutes, it would go to hundreds of acres. >> but those efforts are no match for those devastating santa ana winds. just in the past couple of seconds since we've been here, this fire has crested. this little hill. we're on. the entire basin here is engulfed in flames. you can see it all the way down to the ocean behind me. that's where that light is. you can see that fire right now, taking over that pile of leaves and debris. and behind us, the bulk of that massive fire now taking over most of this northern part of pacific palisades, traffic gridlocked for miles, drivers stuck beside burning hillsides, some setting out on foot, vehicles catching fire. what's going on up there? >> houses on fire. up on the corner and all the way down that street. >> megan gorman, her daughter and their dog evacuating on foot after they abandoned their vehicle. >> the smoke just got really bad, so i just started packing up all of our stuff, and we got in the car to go, and then all

the cars were abandoned, so i had nowhere to go. so i just had to get out of my car and start walking. the smoke is so bad. >> authorities helping the family to safety. you can see how that wind is casting the embers. sending that fire right into that house just above that stand of trees in there. the national weather service going as far as to warn people to stay away from windows. >> our thanks to matt. our coverage of the pacific palisades fire will continue overnight and on gma in the morning. we switch gears now to a beauty trend among young people. facelifts. procedure thought of for women of a certain age now gaining popularity with younger people, some as young as in their 30s. and the reason why may surprise you. here's abc's erielle reshef. olivia right over here. >> there's a new trend on the red carpet. celebrities opening up about removing implants. >> i called my doctor i was like hey when can i come in to take

this out. >> and swearing off fillers like ariana grande telling entertainment tonight i'm still clean. >> i'm still clean. but i love it and i support it, but i am still four years clean. >> but when uk beauty influencer and podcaster ashley stobart began her removal journey, she says she uncovered unexpected consequences. >> skin was literally hanging off my face. i could pull it. >> as she dissolved over a decade worth of fillers in her face, she says she was left with sagging skin and decided to get a facelift at the young age of 34. >> when i went to put the facelift, i told my mom and she was like, again, ashley, you're crazy! my husband was like, ashley, you are crazy. i was like, well, i promise you it will come out looking good. and when i first got in touch with the doctor, it was like, yeah, straight away, you know, discard your age. this is a case for a facelift. >> some people as young as their 30s and even in their 20s, taking to social media to share their facelift stories.

>> here are my results from my mid facelift i had almost two years ago. >> the american society of plastic surgeons says that while the overwhelming majority of facelifts are still among people over 50, their members have observed an increase among people in their 40s and younger over the past few years. >> we are seeing a trend towards younger and younger individuals at least inquiring and seeking to have more surgical procedures. facelifts. >> doctor babak azizi, a board certified plastic surgeon in beverly hills, says people coming into his office for facelifts are looking for a more natural appearance. >> individuals who've had a lot of fillers and fillers at a very young age. they want to dissolve the fillers, reverse the fillers and once those fillers are reversed, you know, all of a sudden they have a lot of laxity and they need surgery to reposition the tissues. >> but he cautions that not everyone, especially young people, are good candidates for

a facelift. there are risks, it's tricky and no one should take it lightly. >> you know, there are risks of nerve damage. there's risk for, you know, scarring, healing and so forth. >> for a long time, people didn't talk about cosmetic procedures, but now many celebs are sharing about it openly, like real housewives of beverly hills star yolanda hadid posting about embracing a new esthetic, writing that she is living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, extensions and courteney cox talking about removing her fillers on the los angeles podcast. >> i was just doing too many fillers and then having to have them removed, which thank god they are removable. but i think i messed. i messed up a lot and now luckily i can. you know, i was able to reverse most of that and lala straight ahead. >> lala kent discussing her change of heart on vanderpump rules i want to stop with the lips. >> i want to stop with the fillers. you know? it's just. enough is enough. i'm starting to look at the comments and then compare photos. i'm not about it

anymore. >> if instagram didn't exist, who knows? i probably never would have stepped into the doctor's office in the first place. >> ashley says social media fueled her fascination with her looks at a young age. at what age did you start feeling like you wanted to change something about your look? >> as soon as i had access to treatment, which in the uk is at 18, it was literally on my 18th birthday that i went for dermal fillers. >> from that moment on, she says she had numerous treatments to enhance her appearance. when you were in the thick of it, what were the procedures or some of the treatments? you had done? >> all kinds of things lip filler, cheek filler, chin filler, obviously botox, hyaluronic acid, skin boosters. and i'd have them, like, pretty much everywhere. >> did you ever have family members, a doctor tell you you've gone too far?

>> absolutely, yeah. my family all were like, you know, you're crazy. like your face is just getting bigger and bigger. when i was on that filler train and i had filler blindness. >> but she says one day she didn't recognize herself anymore and decided to go through several rounds of dissolving the filler. but that wasn't enough. so she got a facelift at the age of 34. >> they actually ended up removing four centimeters of skin off each side of my face, so i had a full face, neck, lip lift, and under eye fat transfer. the procedure took 9.5 hours. they were pushing all kinds of different things out of my face. >> i was so young. i just wanted that body because i seen everybody, you know, my crew like getting it, you know? and i wanted to be like with the it girls because this is what was going on. >> scene two take one tone marker. >> blac chyna spoke with impact by nightline in 2023 about what

she called her road to transformation. after working on her inner self. she says she then focused on her exterior, looking to undo years of cosmetic work. the body model had been synonymous with a look body ody, ody ody. at 34, she reversed that look that catapulted her to stardom. >> as i started to slim down, my features started to really come out like my cheekbones and everything. so with all the filler that started to really protrude out, not in my face has become more slimmer, even like my body that just wasn't happy the way how i how i look. because i did these things, you know, to make me happy, which is served its purpose. because that's why we're here today. you know what i mean? now that it's served its purpose. like, i'm just i'm cutting ties with it so i can move on to the next chapter in my life. enough is enough. it all has to come out. beauty fades, fashion fades. it's a new collection. every
